It took prehistoric volcanoes, an ice age and some over achieving engineers to get it right.
The PEAK 2 PEAK Alpine Experience As the longest and highest lift in the world, it is an engineering feat; but the most remarkable thing about the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola, is where it takes you. Step aboard for a 4.4 km journey between the top of Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains, and soak in 360 degree views of peaks and glaciers. Lucky for you, scenic interpretive walks, a freshly prepared meal, and a cappuccino bar were a part of our evolutionary process.
Tickets available at any ticket window.

Walking & Hiking
Whistler Summer/Fall 2013 | visitorschoice.com
Whistler’s got walks to suit every skill level. Many of the streets in and around Whistler Village are pedestrian friendly with plenty of awesome photo opps, while the paved Valley Trail winds for 20 kilometres (12.4 miles) through a lush natural landscape. Lost Lake Park boasts over 30 kilometres (18.6 miles) of trails; do a short loop around the lake or chart your own course for breathtaking forest and mountain views (Map 9). High Note Trail, which starts at the top of the Peak Chair, offers spectacular views of Cheakamus Lake before linking up with Singing Pass and meandering down to Whistler Village. Or hire a local guide for a glacial hike that will teach you to use crampons and ice axes to access the alpine area’s three ancient glaciers.
12
Mountain Biking At the more relaxed end of the cycling spectrum is the 20-kilometre-long Valley Trail – a wide, paved path winding north to Green Lake from Alpha Lake. Beginner and intermediate riders will love the beautiful and tranquil Lost Lake network of trails, while west- and northside trails (with names like Kill Me Thrill Me, No Girly Man and White Knuckles) tend to be more challenging. And don’t forget the Whistler Mountain Bike Park, where riders turn out tricks and blast over 250 kilometres (155 miles) of lift-serviced downhill trails. These amazing descents provide hours of fun and are labelled by level of difficulty, from green for beginners to black diamond for more advanced gravity junkies. Check out unique elements like steep rock faces, gnarly root-strewn lines, drop-offs of all descriptions and much, much more. whistlerbike.com (Maps 10 & 11) Photo: Tourism Whistler / Steve Rogers
