Another Winning Weekend For Interagro FEI Horses Another Winning Weekend For Interagro FEI HorsesZepelim Interagro Scores a 71.3% to Win the Grand Prix At the Welcome Back to White Fences Dressage Show
Welcome Back to White Fences I show, Baldor Interagro and Aragão earned second place in the Prix St. Georges. Vade-Mecum Interagro, a 13-year-old gelding from the Xique-Xique and Yacht lines (Noblissimo InteragroPecunia Interagro, Yacht), also made the journey from Brazil. The gelding placed first in the Grand Prix Freestyle and second in the Grand Prix at the Expo Lusitano CDI3* in São Paulo, Brazil, in October.
Loxahatchee, FL (March 9, 2015) - Zepelim Interagro and Pia Aragão were victorious in the Grand Prix at the Welcome Back to White Fences I show in Loxahatchee, Florida, earning a 71.300 percent to claim the win. They bested their score from the previous week at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival, where they placed second in the FEI Grand Prix on Feb. 22. Their partnership is blossoming and the pair is poised to continue impressing the judges.
Interagro horses will compete at the Global Dressage Festival throughout the month of March, treating spectators to an opportunity to see the traits of these horses in action at one of the world's richest and most competitive dressage circuits.
Zepelim Interagro is an 11-year-old stallion (Quinárius Interagro-Ordenada Interagro, Yacht) whose sire is by the famous Xique-Xique, a Gold Medal Champion in Portugal, and whose dam is by Yacht, the son of the foundation stallion of the Andrade line. Interagro Lusitanos, based in Itapira, Brazil, is the largest breeder of Lusitano horses in the world.
The Interagro horse epitomizes the modern Lusitano, a horse that excels in the traditional equestrian disciplines, from dressage and driving to jumping and working equitation. Interagro is committed to preserving the pure bloodlines of the Lusitano breed, and its own bloodlines include some of the most respected of the breed: Faraó (JHC), Nirvana Interagro, Ofensor (MV), Xique-Xique (CI) and Yacht (SA).
Aragão came to the U.S. with three Interagro Lusitanos in order to prepare them for the international arena. Zepelim is proving that he will be a horse to be reckoned with when he returns to Brazil.
Interagro remains one of the most accessible and respected breeders in the world, and their unique Destination Lusitano program offers interested clients an opportunity to stay at the farm in Brazil and immerse themselves in the Lusitano breed and culture. Destination Lusitano offers the opportunity to ride across the rolling Brazilian countryside or enjoy it from a carriage pulled by a four-in-hand of Lusitano stallions. It is also an opportunity to watch the horses in their daily training sessions, take a lesson on a prospective horse and meet the living pedigree of generations of Lusitano horses. Destination Lusitano is an opportunity to purchase the horse of your dreams while enjoying the journey of a lifetime.
"This is what I came for and what is necessary for him to be competitive with others in Brazil with the Pan American Games and the Olympics coming up," she said. "One week ago he competed in his first Grand Prix and he was not as relaxed as he was this weekend. I felt him to be much more mature after just one week and I was very pleased with him." She attributes this change in attitude to the character of the Lusitano horse. "They are so ambitious," she said. "And I love the elegance of the Lusitano horses." She entered the horses in national shows to build their confidence without pressure and, in a few weeks, they will step out into the international arena. She was impressed to see the new arena at the Global Dressage Festival. "It's so important that we have a place like this to compete at on the American continent," Aragão said.
About Interagro Lusitanos Founded in 1975 by Dr. Paulo Gavião Gonzaga to preserve the breed, Interagro Lusitanos is the world's largest breeder and exporter of Lusitano horses. Dr. Gonzaga started with four mares and one stallion imported to Brazil from the breed's native Portugal; to date more than 450 horses populate the 1200-acre ranch outside São Paulo. Today, Cecilia Gonzaga manages the farm and operations. To learn more, email interagro@interagro.com, or please visit www.interagro.com.br.
Another Interagro horse competing in South Florida is Baldor Interagro (Ofensor MV- Quinata Interagro, XiqueXique), a 9-year-old Lusitano stallion. He and Aragão dominated the FEI Prix St Georges at the Global Dressage Festival National Show just a week earlier. At the at the Friesian Blood & Baroque Horse Magazine

Barock Pinto Horses by Angela Blaauw
The Fairytail horses with gentle personalities and excellent show quality! Barock Pinto Horses (the English spelling is often "Baroque Pinto") originated in the Netherlands. Bonte Nico, also known as Nico van Friesland, started it all. He was the son of a purebred Friesian mare who had been bred to a tobiano warmblood stallion. Bonte Nico went through much confusing political scrutiny, which resulted in his breeding license being denied. In the early 1960's, breeding to non-approved stallions was illegal. Then, in 1965, mare owners who had been breeding to Bonte Nico got fined, and the agricultural ministry made the decision to seize Bonte Nico, and slaughter became a threat for Bonte Nico's future. To prevent this amazing stallion from this disaster, his owner Mister Hellinga wrote a letter to His Royal Highness Prince Bernard, partner of Queen Juliana of Orange. With the help of His Royal

Highness Prince Bernard and agricultural minister van Biesheuvel , Bonte Nico was saved and then could legally be used as a breeding stallion. It was his special and flashy black and white coat which made Nico popular, and the media paid a lot of attention to this special horse. Youngster were pulling hair from his tail for souveniors. With so much media attention and so many fans, Nico was the equvilent of a modern day rockstar! His offspring was popular and brought high prices. During his biggest breeding year, Bonte Nico bred to 150 mares! That was quite an accomplisment taking into account there was only natural cover and no Artificial Insemination back in those days. Now, 50 years later, Barock Pinto Studbook exists because of the legacy of Bonte Nico, but also including Bonte Bart, and last but not least, the stunning

Grand Prix Dressage stallion Willem van Nassau. At Barock Pinto Studbook our members are working hard to accomplish our breeding goal, which is to breed a horse that is harmoniously built and properly proportioned, with a black and white tobiano coat as the preferred color. The horse should posess a healthy vitality that commands attention, and must have the ability to perform with excellance at the highest levels as a show horse. Willem van Nassau, Sport Preferent, is the first Barock Pinto Horse to perform at Grand Prix dressage, but it's not just Willem who is doing well in the show arena. His sons Maurits BP10 and the spanish based Bellman BP12 are both working very hard to get to the same level. There is also Pablo Picasso Star33, sired by Ids 300, who recently moved to China, who was performing Jenny Majors: Phone: 704-798-0836 (best method, via voice call or text message) Email: jmajors23@att.net Address: 3175 Foster Rd, Cleveland, NC 27013 Friesian Blood & Baroque Horse Magazine

Also, there is Anthimos Star28, sired by Willem van Nassau Sport Preferent, who will be featured at the Apassionata, a European traveling theatrical show which showcases magical encounters between man and horse. Barock Pinto horses are loved all over the world, their fairy tail looks, abillity to perform as excellent showhorses, but most importantly, their lovable and eager to work personalities make them a perfect family horse as well. Recently, the Barock Pinto Studbook has founded an association in the USA. Jenny Lien Majors (NC) and Christina Gregory (SC) will be leading Barock Pinto Studbook USA. The pair will continue competition in the six-year-old division at the Barnadown Equestrian in County Wexford, Ireland, and Arthur plans to jump the gelding in the Horse Sport Ireland League as well as in the qualifiers for The 2015 RDS Dublin Horse Show in August. Arthur is proud to be a GumBits Ambassador and will continue gleaning the benefits of GumBits for her equine teammates. GumBits encourage relaxation and chewing activity, and horses love the sweet taste of the small treats. GumBits are made of all natural FDA approved ingredients in order to be as safe as they are palatable and effective for horses. "In my opinion, anything that helps to produce happy and relaxed horses that enjoy their work every day is a huge bonus. This is why I use Gumbits!" Arthur explains. When she's not showing Nemo this summer, Arthur will be working with her other talented mounts. "I also have a half sister to Nemo who is by Touchdown ISH," Arthur says. "Her name is Time To Pretend, and I hope to get her to National Grand Prix level toward the end of this year. She is a very talented horse and I hope that now that I am concentrating on my own horses, I can give her the time she deserves to fulfill her potential."
GumBits to Relax Horses
Co. Galway, Ireland - Katherine Arthur and the 6-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding Nemo D'Or (Womanizer-DBA Rosanne, Dauntless Prince), owned by Kevin Keary, are poised to take show jumping by storm. The Ireland-based Arthur bred Nemo and has trained him at Keary's farm in County Galway, Ireland, where she and Keary breed and train a small number of horses. Arthur knows that careful, consistent training while keeping her horses willing and happy is the key to success. One of her tools to achieve these goals is using GumBits. GumBits promote the horses' salivation process, and help eliminate the teeth grinding that can occur during the intense training of high performance sport horses. "I have used GumBits on several horses and I find that, even when there is no problem to start with, they help to achieve a very soft and relaxed mouth," Arthur explains. "I also find them useful for young horses when they are first getting used to the bit, as they help to encourage them to accept the bit and stay relaxed instead of getting worried." When Shereen Fuqua- the founder and owner Gambit Atlanta, Inc., which produces GumBits- heard about how integral GumBits Arthur knows that while there were to Arthur in training her are no shortcuts in training a show jumpers, Fuqua decided horse to get to the top of their to partner with Arthur by dubsport, products like GumBits bing her an official GumBits can make the process easier and Ambassador. more enjoyable for both the Arthur has been successfully horse and the rider. The term "BAROQUE HORSE" refers to a body style rather than an actual breed. The breeds most commonly considered "Baroque" in type are (but are not necessarily limited to) the Andalusian and Lusitano, Lipizzans, the Friesian and Knabstrupper and more recently many of the Shire, Gypsy and Drum horses. The "baroque horse" is typically thought of as a rather heavy, short-coupled, round-bodied, thick-necked horse with an overall regal or noble appearance. In art, they are typically quite hairy horses that sport a small to moderate amount of feathering. A "baroque" horse may be purebred or partbred, and as long as the body style is correct, any color is acceptable. A "baroque" horse may be a purebred of any of these breeds or a combination of several of them. This division registers these horses. Volume 11 Issue 4
