WHOO-OO!

White Owl on Brookside: A Must-Go Restaurant
Whoo-oo. That’s the sound of an owl or an extremely excited person. In this case, both answers are acceptable. White Owl, located on Cherry Street, is an exceptional restaurant. Any person should be excited to eat there. “It’s really chill over there. It’s hip and for young adults,” senior Phillip Perez said. Right when we walked in, we were already given a table and settled into a comfortable environment. “The music is fantastic. Old, familiar, and contemporary,” senior Genevieve Humphrey said. Though most positive food reviews say that the food was good, trust me when I recommend the food they serve at White Owl. The food was home made and scrumptious. It tasted fresh and not microwaved. “It was amazing. I had a grilled zucchini panini. It had mozzarella and pesto that really brought out the grilled taste. I also had fries that were delicious. They were not over or undercooked. They were thin and home made,” Humphrey said. Senior Tommy Culver had a pesto pizza. “It was extremely fresh. Everything about it was fresh. The crust was paper thin and had a good crunch to it. It had a great ratio of sauce to cheese. Though it seemed small, it was a good amount because I was full,” Culver said. Perez enjoyed fish and chips. “They were first class. Crispy and flaky on the outside and juicy on the inside,” Perez said. More was done at the White Owl than just sitting at a table and eating food. During our visit to this restaurant, we were able to play pool while eating. We played while waiting for
3
our food, and then our waitress just took our food to our game and told us we can eat while we play. “It was a fun game of pool because we weren’t pressured,” Perez said. Humphrey agrees with Perez that pool is a good idea at this restaurant. “It was a lot of fun to play while we ate. Sometimes weird encounters of awkward silence go on during dinner. But playing pool was something to do,” Humphrey said. The overall look of White Owl is different than most restaurants. We enjoyed our dinner in a loft. “The loft was really cool. The bar was downstairs, but we ate in the restaurant upstairs next to the arcade games and billiards. It gave a hip atmosphere,” Culver said. Perez was thoroughly impressed with the whole idea of the restaurant. “It’s a very different environment. Thankfully, we all ordered finger food, so we could eat while we played,” Perez said. The service at the White Owl is top notch. “The service was good and really friendly. They were conscientious,” Culver said. “They weren’t annoying by refilling our water all the time,” Perez said. In addition to eating and playing pool, we were able to enjoy playing the few arcade games they provided. However, with food and games, money is always an issue. “It’s a little pricey for a high school budget, but the option to play games made things more appealing,” Culver said. I recommend the White Owl to everyone. Even for those that live in South Tulsa like I do, the drive is definitely worth it. The food is phenomenal for comfort food and the atmosphere is different and fun. “It’s a great place to get away from stress and just relax,” Humphrey said.
OPINION
Freshmen Wildebeest
Upperclassmen share feelings on freshmen in hallway
BY DANIELLE ARQUISOLA Breezeway Staff Writter Writer
Imagine, if you will, the animals of Africa. A great problem faced by these animals happens during the migration season. In specific, the wildebeest migration is a difficult one. A wildebeest is the antelope of the genus and a hoofed mammal. The wildebeest migrate together. However, they are obliviously running into other animals during their traveling. At Bishop Kelley, the freshmen are the wildebeests. They are new to the school and travel aimlessly towards the STC and cafeteria. Freshmen tend to travel in a large pack, in fear of being a lone wildebeest. The commute from wing to wing is already a stressful one; however, it becomes more stressful when facing a
pack of freshmen. Before they begin their journey during passing period, they like to take time to be in front of their waterhole: the lockers. Freshmen love to obliviously stand in front of their lockers, making it more of a hassle for upperclassmen to take their trek to their next class. Senior Chaz Stephenson took note of this area and is very displeased by this. “Honestly I don’t use my locker, but when they sit by the main doors like a school of fish, it really irks me,” Stephenson said. Freshman Cole Garcia feels otherwise. The freshmen waterhole has become a big deal of importance for them. “That is our wall,” Garcia said. Having something that belongs to them might help the freshmen feel more welcomed into high school.
Contrasting Garcia like Stephenson, Senior Benson Oglesby avoids his locker just to avoid the mass of people in the hallway. “The freshmen flock to the lockers to hide from their fears of upperclassmen and they do so in great numbers like gazelles hiding from a lion,” Oglesby said. However, it is not the fault of the entire freshmen class. They are not all scared, young wildebeest during migration season. In fact, for those that are, the blame should not be thrust upon their individual characteristics. They are still jumping into the deep end of the pool coming from swimming in the shallow ends of middle school. They are still quite confused on how things are supposed to work in high school. “I dislike how they don’t understand
the flow of things,” senior Colleen Fox said. Senior Whitney Lucas agrees with Fox. “They should learn the social etiquette and rules of high school,” Lucas said. Though freshmen annoy some upperclassmen as they travel in packs or stand in a big group in one area, Bishop Kelley would not be the same without being able to complain about ninth grade tactics. True, it’s not the most enjoyable part of the school, but school just wouldn’t be the same without making your way through a pack oblivious freshmen. “Although the freshmen can be a little hard to handle, they are an essential part to the Kelley experience,” senior Andrew Alonso said.
MADdie’s Opinion: students clopping their feet disturb peaceful classes
Page 4 l May 2012
BY MADDIE NAVE Imagine this: you’re sitting in Breezeway Staff Writter Writer class with the door propped open with
the trash can due to an excessively hot classroom. You are quietly listening to your teacher who is moving on to a new lesson when you’re interrupted with a loud clunking in the hallway that’s created by one student. Really? Seriously? If you allow your shoes to drag off your feet, you should know that it shows a lack of confidence and is really disruptive. Everyone knows people that allow their shoes to drag off their feet. I don’t understand how one student can create such a disturbance just with feet. I’m a person that is easily distracted and when I hear the clunking and scraping noise from shoes I absolutely cannot focus. There are two sounds that the dragging of feet make: a loud, echoing clap in the hallway along with a nails on a chalkboard sound on concrete. Senior Audrey Atkins said “the sound is annoying and it’s not that hard to lift up your feet when you walk.” From working at a shoe boutique, I tend to look at everyone’s shoes. If someone’s shoes are too small or too big, it’s noticeable. We are in high school, I don’t think students’ feet are going to be growing anymore, especially girls. No matter how hard I try to drag my feet, it is physically impossible for me to allow my feet to make that sound. It doesn’t make people cool when they drag their feet. It brings people attention but bad attention, annoyed attention. Senior Emmey Reeder “just thinks [dragging your feet is] extremely irritating and lazy.” While sometimes it seems that people who drag their feet do it on purpose, senior Ellen Pearson attests that she is not always aware that she drags her feet. “I’m not really aware that I [drag my feet] until someone points it out,” Pearson said. Pearson drags her feet out of normality. “I don’t really know why I do it. I guess I always have. My whole family says that I drive them crazy when I walk,” Pearson said. Although I’ve only mentioned seniors in this article, I must say that I know that
every grade has cloppers. I am sure there are sophomores and freshmen that can complain about a senior or junior who drags their feet. Junior Madi Schulz explains, “I never tie my shoes, so scuffing my feet helps me keep my shoes on!” To add light to the irritating subject of feet cloppers, senior Hunter Martin expresses an alternative to prevent dragging feet. “People who drag their feet should have to have their feet tied together so they can’t walk, but have to hop around,” Martin said.

Spring Sports Wrap-up: How Comet sports teams did this season Girls Track During the Holland Hall Invite and the East Central Invite, the girls took first in the 4x800 Meter Relay. The Comets took home fourth place at Conference and placed fifth at Regionals. Ariel Mackey, Quinlan Ward, Megan Dautenhahn, Roxy Eddington, Leslie Atherton, Cat Roth and Allie Ortiz all placed in the top three for their events and will be headed off to State today. Boys Track A group that consisted of Daniel McCay, Aaron Alonso, Angel Cabrera, Michael Duke, Sam Stephan, and Kurt Byers all took first in their events and ultimately helped the boys team to second place at the Wagoner Invite. The boys moved on to Regionals after placing fourth in the Metro Lakes Conference. Helping their fellow comets take home third place in 6A Regionals includes Sean Kane, Daniel McCay, Angel Cabrera, Aaron Alonso, Michael Duke, Alex Lybarger and Kurt Byers. All of these young men will be heading off to the State tournament today. Baseball The team this year held a 16 game winning streak in their regular season. Seniors Donovan Walton and Michael Hefferan lead the Comets in their attempt to win a State Title. After sadly being defeated in their first game of playoffs against Enid, the boys came back strong to defeat the Edison Eagles in their second game. The baseball team took on Jenks in their third game but unfortunately could not pull off the win. “I’ll miss the depth in pitching and the skill the senior class brought to the team. We didn’t finish where we wanted but when we look back, we actually accomplished a lot considering we got moved up to 6A,” junior Cory Bright said. Good luck and congratulations to all those seniors moving on to the next level to play college ball. Girls Soccer With the help of the four seniors, the girls soccer team finished first in District. The Comets took on the Ponca City Wildcats at home for the first round of playoffs and then took on the Union Redskins for the second round. After winning their second game, the girls team will be heading off to Edmond Memorial. After beating the Edmond Memorial Bulldogs, the comet girls will be taking on Edmond North tonight in the Championship game. Boys Soccer The Comet boys soccer team finished their regular season with eight wins and five losses. The boys took on the Union Redskins for their first game in playoffs. Unfortunately, the Comets were defeated by the Redskins. Eight seniors will be graduating

from the team this year, leaving the juniors with big shoes to fill next season. Senior Vincent Barone says, “I’m gonna miss the personality and camaraderie of the senior class.” Girls Tennis The girls tennis team placed first in the Bixby Regional allowing all to qualify for State! In the Conference Tournament, Caroline Reynolds got first in Singles and Grace Doyle got third in Singles. Also, Madeline Hall and Lindsey Howard got first in Doubles along with Maricaroline Davis and Emily Shadid placing first in Doubles at Conference. They also placed first in the 6A Regional tournament, leaving all of them to qualify for State! Boys Tennis It is safe to say the boys team have had to step it up after saying goodbye to three varsity players who graduated last year. They have kept an overall team ranking of sixth in the state for 6A. Senior Caleb Gunsch helped tremendously this year with the teams success. Gunsch was named Athlete of the Week for Boy’s Tennis in Tulsa World and was also selected as Conference Player of the Year. Russell Holder was named Conference Newcomer of the Year. The boys went to Regionals on Monday and hopefully will be going to State this weekend. Girls Golf The girls took first in the Coweta Tournament at Emerald Falls and also took first in the Metro Lakes Conference at Pryor Creek. During this tournament, Madi Garcia, Ashlyn McCorkle, and Danielle Cain were awarded All Conference. Girls golf placed fourth at Regionals, and moved on to State. The comets finished their season with a successful sixth place in State. “I’ll miss gold as a whole because this year we all became really close friends! And about how the team finished...I was really happy! We didn’t think we would make it to state, so to finish in the middle of the pack our first year in 6A was a big accomplishment,” junior Ashlyn McCorkle said. Boys Golf The team took home first place at Tahlequah and also got first at the Conference tournament at Pryor Creek. Jake Mattox, Andy Litzinger, and Chris Karlovich all finished with top 10 medals. Also helping the Comets with their success include Chris Karlovich, Andy Litzinger, Will Murphy, Andrew Alonso, and Brody King. These young men placed second all together in Regionals and won the State Championship on Tuesday, May 8.

PROM Chaz Stephenson & Taylor Gajan
“I first bought a ‘V’ neck shirt along with permant markers and washable markers. Then I wrote on the shirt ‘Will you go to prom with me?’ in the permanent markers and in the washable markers I wrote random letters all around it. I put the shirt in her mailbox with a note that said ‘wash me.’ I called her mom and asked her to have Taylor check the mail. Taylor checked the mail, saw the note, and washed the shirt. After she washed the shirt all the random letters written in washable marker were gone and left was the note ‘Will you go to prom with me?’ and she called me and said yes!”
Frankie Arndt & Hanna Barnoski
“On a Wednesday afternoon I asked Hanna if she wanted to go on a picnic. I wanted to try and come up with something original and that may not grab everyone’s attention at school, but grab the attention of this lovely lady. I decided to spell out prom with the food on the picnic. We were at Woodward Park, laying down the blankets and just getting ready to unload the food when I said “oh crap I forgot my knife in the car to break the seal on the sparkling grape juice, will you (Hanna) go get it for me?” I knew Hanna would be too gullible to notice that every sparkling grape juice bottle has a twist off cap. So as soon as she started walking back to the car I got to work unloading everything and spelling ‘Prom.’ After I was done setting up I went to go get Hanna and told her that the bottle was actually a twist off. When walked back to sit down I lifted the blanket covering my question. Before she could say anything I pulled out a duck tape rose I made for her and said ‘If you say yes than you will never forget this day unless your rose dies.’ She said she liked my idea, considering last year I waited a day before prom to ask her.”
Cory Bright & Bailey Chambers
“I bought a star and registered it for her from Online Star Register. The reason why this is so special is because in our favorite movie, “A Walk to Rememeber,” the high school boy registers a star for his girlfriend because she enjoys looking at stars, which Baily and I do too. I named the star Los Dos Amigos because Los Tres Amigos is the name of our favorite restaurant and Dos makes is relevent to the two of us. On the star webpage, I wrote a note to her, uploaded pictures from different times throughout our relationships over the last two years, and also uploaded a link to the scene in the movie when he tells her about registering a star for her. In addition I posted the question, “Will you go to the prom?” I hid in another room while she read all of this on her computer than I walked in with a single rose and asked her ‘Will you go to prom with me?’” Micheal Cunningham & Rachel McCrory “Frankie Arndt and Chaz Stephenson put on blazers and sunglasses. They were secret service agents for me, president of student council. Frankie burst into Mr. Wahlmier’s class, Rachel’s 3rd block, and said, ‘Can I have your attention please?’ Then he radioed to Chaz and said, ‘The target has been aquired!’ Chaz walked into the room and said ‘Ma’am, will you come with us? The president would like to speak with you.’ They lead Rachel outside in front of Mr. Wahlmier’s room, where I was waiting with a sign that said ‘Prom?’ and she said ‘Yes!’”

Evan Rauner & Emily Hoffman “I was getting into my car and I heard “Emily, No!” So I got out of my car and on the back of my car was a poster that said ‘Prom? Bring me your answer. -Evan’ On the ground was a small rock with ‘Yes’on it and then next to it was a huge rock that said ‘No.’ Then Evan walked around my car with roses and asked me to prom.”
Jacob Shelton & Lauren Wolcott
“The BK track team was competing at East Central all day. Although I was running my 800’s and competing my heart out, my mind was in another place. With the help of Duke and Aaron, an idea entered my mind. I would make a video showcasing my dance moves. However, a string of unfortunate events soon followed. Lauren and a friend called and demanded that we hang out that night. This would be difficult because I needed at least 30 minutes to finish the video but I couldn’t let her down. I would need a distraction while I finished the video. This is where Duke came in. For 30 minutes, he distracted both girls without them even noticing my absence. The plan was to watch “The Notebook.” When they thought I was putting in the movie, I actually put in my video. Lauren and Kirstie watched in amazement 10 different clips of dancing to different songs and genres. Lauren is a well known Titanic lover, so Duke and I re-created the romantic scene of Rose and Jack as he holds Rose at the bow of the ship; the sun setting in the background. Duke posed as Rose, I as Jack. After a few seconds, Duke turns to the camera and pulls out a sign that says, “Lauren, this could be you.” Awwwwes filled the room. That’s when I jumped up and told Lauren, ‘Now that you I’ve shown you my moves, can you show me yours at prom?’”
Phillip Ngo & Christina Pynn
I asked Christina Pynn to prom by setting up a black light in her room with flowers on her bed, glow stars spread across the room, and a hanging sign that read “Star light Star bright, first star you’ll see tonight, I wish you may, I wish you might,be my date for our senior prom night?”
20!2 Quang Nguyen & Chaewoon Lee
I took eight sky blue balloons and put a letter of her name on each balloon. Then I gave one balloon to each of her friends. As she was walking to her 3rd block class, her friends walked up and gave her the balloons. As she was walking into class, I began to sing her favorite Korean song, “Magic Castle,” to her. Then her best friend, who doesn’t go to Bishop Kelley, popped out and surprised her. After I finished singing, I asked her “Na Reng prom ga jul lae, Chaewoon?” Which means “Will you go to prom with me, chaewoon?” I had to learn Korean in order to do this I am Vietnamese.
Q&A
with Mr. & Miss Kelley
Seniors Michael Cunningham and Haley Poarch were chosen as Mr. and Miss Kelley by their peers during Prom. They were previously selected as September Boy and Girl of the Month.
What did you feel the moment you found out?
Matthew Douglas & Claire Kelley
“On April 10 I asked the lovely Claire Kelley to prom. The weekend before Phillip Perez, Austin Lawhorn, Max Sanders, and I shot a music video on the Bishop Kelley campus to the song “Boyfriend” by Big Time Rush. This is a song that Claire told me earlier that month she liked because it was so catchy. At the beginning of the video I have Max Sanders talking about the “Impossible Card Task” to disguise the video at first. But, then I come running into the camera shot asking Max if he has seen, ‘the girl I have been wanting to ask to prom’ on campus. This begins our journey across campus searching for her. We sing the song on our adventure in several places. After the song ends we walk up towards the S-Building and I ‘remember’ that she is in her Trig class and in the video I open the door. At this time the video ends and I walk into the room with Phillip and Austin and ‘find’ her. Then we sing her the chorus of the song and switch the word ‘boyfriend’ to ‘prom date.’ Then I asked her and gave her a hug after she said ‘yes!’”
Michael: I was at a loss for words, really. I always thought I would know what it might feel like, but when it happened I can’t describe what it felt like. It didn’t hit me until I was driving home that morning. Haley: My friends kept “calling it” telling me I was gonna win but, I hated it. I thought they were gonna jinx me or something. There were so many quality girls of the month that I really had no idea who would win, but I was at a loss for words and was so happy.
What is it like now that you hold the title of Mr. & Miss Kelley?
Michael: People say congrats to me but, other than that is hasn’t really changed much. It’s pretty cool, only 53 guys have won it, and to be in the same group as therm truly is a blessing. Haley: My dad was Mr. Deer Creek so it was cool to also be crowned Miss Kelley. I am very honored to be in the ranks with previous Miss Kelley’s Sarah Hashemi and Eleanor Humphrey.

Staying Fresh for Summer Simple words of advice to stay healthy during the long, BY DANIELLE ARQUISOLA hot summer Breezeway Staff Writer
4. Protect Your Eyes
Put your shades on! Protect your vision. When outside, wear sunglasses that block at least 99% of ultraviolet rays. So forget those shutter shades. Get some real sunglasses that can really protect your eyes because that summer sun gets ridiculous. When you’re playing sports or mowing the lawn, wear protective eyewear and ask your eye doctor about some sport specific shades.
1. Sun Screen and Bug Spray
5. Add Berries to Your Food Options
Protect your skin! Sun burns are not fun at all. It’s time to get that healthy glow and forget about those nasty fake tans. However, too much tan with a mix of a sun burn is not good for your skin, plus it’s painful. So wear that sunblock! In addition to sunblock, don’t forget to buy bug spray. Bugs go crazy during the summer, especially when eating outdoors. Shoo fly, don’t bother me, I have bug spray!
Summer means lots of chips, cookies, candy, and junk. Sure it tastes great, but try ignoring the bags and bags of chips and replace that with a cup of mixed fresh berries. Blackberries, blueberries, or strawberries, they all are a good snack to eat. Berries are loaded with antioxidants. In addition, they are full of fiber which helps keep cholesterol low. And they just taste really yummy.
2. Get Outside to Exercise! Keep up with yoga and daily crunches, but don’t forget to pick an outdoor activity for the summer! Go on a hike, take a walk, play basketball outside, play a game of tag or kickball, go biking or longboarding. Find something outside to do instead of being stuck inside a gym doing workouts.
3. Hydrate We’ve been through ice storms and weather colder than the Arctic, but now, due to Tulsa’s biploar weather, we are currently about to enter the desert. Don’t be afraid though. Gear up and bring lots and lots of water. Drink it all! Drink water as much as possible during those long, hot summer days. Drink up and drink often.
6. Sleep Well It’s hard to not stay up late during the summer. However, try not to make this a daily habit throughout summer. Avoid naps during the day. It’s okay to have those days where you sleep in until 3 PM, however, don’t sleep away your summer. A good straight 8 hours applies to summer as well as the school year.
7. VACATION TIME! Summer time means vacation time! Take advantage of the long break to relieve your stress and unwind. Help lower your blood pressure and just LET GO of all the stress and pressure. Vacations can lower your heart rate as well and improve your mood. Go be happy :)
Spor ts Sign ing s : Let the games begin On Wednesday, April 11, three seBreezeway Staff Writer niors decided to continue on athletically at the next level. Nick Clark, Caleb Gunsch, and Frankie Arndt will be attending various schools next year. Branden Elliott did not participate in the April signing, however, he committed to playing football next year. Frankie Arndt signed with Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas for football. Out of the senior class, he is the only one attending Trinity University in the fall. “I decided to go there because of the reputation of the college and the academics,” Arndt said. He also had other offers but finally came to the conclusion that, “Trinity would be my best fit.” Caleb Gunsch also considered different schools, but the size of the school seemed to be the deciding factor. He liked Westminster College but thought that the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith was the better choice due to its size. He finally chose the University

of Arkansas-Fort Smith after five months. “It was not an easy decision because Westminster College was a great place, but it wasn’t big enough,” Gunsch said. He also added, “It has a strong business school.” Arndt is excited about playing college ball next year but also has his fears. “I am most nervous about screwing up on the first day, but I am most excited about the level of competition,” Arndt said. The competition is not the only thing that will be different at Trinity. The level of the game will be increasing as well. “I think the speed of the game will be the biggest difference but also the environments that I am going to play in,” Arndt said. Nick Clark agrees with Arndt, “the speed of play will be a lot faster and most of the time I will spend practicing is going to be a lot more demanding.” Clark will be attending Northeastern State University (NSU) next fall. Elliott will be playing alongside Clark next
year for the Riverhawks football team. Although it was a difficult decision for Clark as well, taking him about a year to decide, a few things were the deciding factors that made NSU stand out more than others. “I went to their recruit camp last summer and I liked everything that I saw,” and also likes that “NSU competes at a higher level,” Clark said. Also, back in February, eight seniors signed all to different colleges. Keaton Forrest will be attending Eastern Oklahoma State College, Dan Arthur will be attending Hill City, John Lynch to play at Fort Scott, Inky Ajanaku will be going to Stanford, Cat Roth to Oklahoma Baptist University, Miranda Balezentis is going to Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Joey Zurawik to Texas Tech, and Donovan Walton to Oral Roberts University. All in all, the senior class is made up of lots of student athletes who are ready to continue sharing their talents with others. “I’m excited to be able to continue playing the sport that I love most for another four years,” Clark said.

Even the Good Guys Get Burned A little lesson about the friend zone from guy’s and girl’s perspectives BY TAYLOR GAJAN Breezeway Staff Writer “It’s a lesson to be learned, even the good guys get burned,” these lyrics from N*Sync speak to many high schoolers, because many have learned the lesson. I’m talking about the friend zone, people. For those who don’t know, the “friend zone” is defined as a situation where one individual in a friendship wants to become “more than friends” with the other person. More often than not, the other person is unaware of the friend’s desires and quite happy in the friendship-only arrangement. As a result, the person is stuck in the “friend zone”, unable to transition from just friend to girlfriend or boyfriend. Sounds awkward, right? Sometimes the feelings develop over time, and sometime people start the friendship with alterior motives. Maybe they like the person and started the friendship to get closer to them. For example, say Brad and Jen are best friends. Brad drives Jen everywhere, walks her to class, buys her snow cones, and lets her borrow his favorite football jacket. Brad has feelings for Jen, but she just wants to be friends. Jen is getting the upper hand here because all of her needs for a boyfriend are met, without the entire baggage of actually dating Brad. I know what you’re thinking, poor Brad, right? But is Jen really using him or not? What if she thinks he’s just a nice guy and had no idea he has feelings for her? Is it her fault if he never actually put that he has feelings for her out on the table? Let’s see from both sides. A friend of mine has been on the Jen side of things. She wants to remain
anonymous, so let’s call her Angelina. Angelina thinks that guys do have alterior motives. “First guys want to become your good guy friend that you can talk to about guys with so they can steer you away into liking them. When it turns out you don’t like them, they say you knew all along that they liked you and you led them on for who knows how long, when you thought all along they were like your brother,” she said. Another student has had a similar experience, but he was on the other side. “Well we liked each other at first and then as we tried to continue with the relationship she stopped having feelings but kept talking to me and made me think she did. We were still together a lot and people thought we were still involved with each other, when she really had no intention of being involved with me. It turns out she just had a flirty personality and only wanted to be friends. She would ask favors of me that you would ask if you were dating, but I thought I was just being nice and helping her because I liked her,” he said. His advice? “There’s really no way to sure fire way to escape the friend zone,” he said, “Once you’re there it’s really hard to get out. I would say just take a break from the person. It gives you a chance to evaluate the relationship and your feelings for each other.” The friend zone is a sticky situation. My opinion is that if you have feelings for someone, or if they have feelings for you, make sure that your intentions are clear from the beginning. Whether it’s that you just want to be friends, or more.
