This Week’s FASHION MOMENT Olivia Palermo Where? Headed for the FROW at Mary Katrantzou’s London Fashion Week show. What She’s Wearing: A slinky Topshop bomber jacket, Phill Taylor leather culottes, an oversized Tibi knit and fierce Louboutin heels. Senior Fashion News Writer Maxine Eggenberger says: ‘Where Olivia goes, we always follow, so we’re hotfooting it to Toppers to snap up her £85 bomber pronto! Not only is it decorated with the coolest embroidery ever – we’re talking eagles and tigers – it’s also reversible. If you’re not digging the red and black, just turn it inside out to reveal an electric blue hue instead. Erm, 2-4-1 or what?’

My days of teetering around in spindly heels are long gone. Nowadays, if it ain’t walkable, it ain’t happening. Cue Topshop’s Jolene blocks, aka my (plus all the other Lookettes) new shoe saviours! With multi straps and a vampy pointed toe, who knew practical could be so sexy? Basically, they’re the Colin Firth of the footwear kingdom and I love them both in equal measure.

Jourdan Dunn, Karlie Kloss and Lara Stone at Topshop Unique

hew – pass us our slippers and a cuppa, stat. London Fashion Week is over for another season and we’ve got loads to tell you! It was back to Soho’s Brewer Street car park (the main catwalk show space) for team Look, with plenty more amazing London venues thrown in for good measure – thank heavens for our plush personalised Hyundai wheels is all we can say! As always, LFW was a total spectacle – with turquoise cocktails and disco music blaring in a church at Julien Macdonald, we actually thought we were being filmed for Zoolander 3! The streets of Soho heaved with head-turning outfits and A-list celebs, from Olivia Palermo to Alexa Chung, not to mention Look’s stylish LFW ambassadors Roxie Nafousi and Rosie Fortescue (find out how she gets LFW-ready on page 17) As always, Topshop Unique was the hot ticket, with Jourdan Dunn, Karlie Kloss and Lara Stone snapping selfies on the FROW. But it was our roving canine reporter Touie – AKA @thefaschund – and his trench coat that the paps really went

wild for. Seriously, he got street style snapped more than we did. But back to the catwalks. The endless shows clued us up on the hottest trends of next season – we’ve rounded up the ones you can rock now on page 15 – from the ‘It’ colour to the wear-everywhere frock. Alexander McQueen returned to London after more than a decade of showing in Paris, Mulberry’s new designer made his debut (the bags are to die for) and Burberry’s collection hit the shelves almost as soon as it walked off the runway. Top of our wishlist? The sequin’n’snakeskin slit-front dress and studded biker boots (right). Suki’s already got her hands on a pair, so expect Cara and co to follow suit soon. And speaking of Loves! A-list outfits, you’ll be glad to hear our faves were rocking a whole load of high street to sit FROW-side. Read on to find out how to bring a slice of LFW to your wardrobe now. See you in September!

f we were to describe London Fashion Week in one word, we’d say ‘wine’. No, not because we were downing (ahem, drinking) a lot of it, but because it was the shade continually being used backstage. We first saw it at J JS Lee, where pouts were blotted with the Malbec hue. Then over at Mary Katrantzou it was on the lips and swept over cheeks to give a natural wine flush, and at Teatum Jones, Ashish and House Of Holland it was painted over the nails. We told you it’s a trend! Experts are loving it too. ‘It’s one of the most flattering shades for pretty much any skin tone,’ says make-up artist Val Garland, who used it backstage at Erdem to create a Pinot noir pout. The trick to finding your perfect berry tone? ‘If you’ve got light eyes, pick a more raspberry-pink wine; for darker eyes a deeper, almost black wine will look gorgeous’, says Petros Petrohilos, make-up artist at Emilia Wickstead.

When it comes to crazy high fashion, it’s not all that often we see a hairstyle on the runway and instantly want to re-create it. But that’s exactly what went down at Felder Felder’s show. We headed backstage and saw the models rocking cool-as-can-be centre-parting braids, AKA the unicorn plait. The style is as practical as it is pretty, with the placement of the braid making it perfect for controlling frizzy baby hairs and hiding grown-out roots. So hands up who’s trying this hot hairdo on Monday morning?

What’s New

Finally!

River Island Goes Plus With a focus on fit and a high fashion poster girl to boot, this might just be the hottest plus size range out there…

H

ot on the heels of the likes of ASOS, New Look and Boohoo, River Island is the latest high street name to add more sizes to its shelves. Yup, with 75 new pieces in sizes 18-24, this is a treasure trove of party frocks, weekend staples and everyday classics. Figure-flattering skinny jeans, leather bikers and denim shirts make for your daily essentials, while lace-up tops, pencil dresses and button-up skirts are all you need for a glam array of after-dark outfits. But don’t take our word for it; this offering comes with supermodel approval. River Island has tapped Candice Huffine to front the Plus campaign. Candice was the first plus size model to star on the Pirelli calendar and has since appeared on magazine covers around the world. Now she’s proving just how good RI’s new range is, looking amazing in everything from white denim and printed co-ords. ‘The team at River Island has given the woman with a curvy body exactly what can be found on the high street in any other size,’ says Candice. ‘A plus size collection doesn’t need to be made totally differently –it just needs to be made to fit.’ We couldn’t agree more.

The Clever New Lippie Trick There’s a new technique for getting your glow on and it’s going totally viral…

F

irst there was contouring, then strobing and now there’s a new kid on the block that goes by the name of chroming. So what is it? Created by MAC’s senior artist Dominic Skinner, essentially it’s the same as strobing, but instead of reaching for your trusty highlighter you’ll need a lipstick. But not just any old lipstick – we don’t want you walking around with army stripes of Ruby Woo on your cheeks! Dominic used the new MAC Mariah Carey Lipstick in the shade All I Want in place of a normal highlighter to create a super-sheen. He uploaded the result to his Instagram and just hours later chroming went viral, with Instagrammers re-creating the look with their own shimmer lippies. But does it work in real life? We put the trend on trial…

COVER STORY illie Mackintosh looked slightly distant at London Fashion Week. Beautiful, impeccably put together and with that trademark pout as per usual, yes, but as the Look team noticed, withdrawn, quiet and somewhat down. And the reason behind that became all too clear

when it was revealed that she’d split from her husband of two and a half years Stephen Manderson, AKA Professor Green. Their break-up was confirmed via a joint statement from the pair that read: ‘It is with sadness and regret that we confirm our separation. It is a mutual decision, we still care deeply about each other and would like it to be known it is on amicable terms and we wish each other well.’ Millie, ever the professional, continued to uphold her scheduled appearances, but it was obvious that she’s been hurting.

On Valentine’s Day, the 26-year-old posted the quote: ‘Relationships come and go but our ability to love and be loved is unchanged’ – before swiftly deleting it. Then, at the Charlotte Simone Fashion Week party she refused to pose for photos with guests, with friends claiming she ‘wasn’t up to it’. We can only imagine how hard it must have been to put on a brave face when she’d rather have been dealing with her break-up away from the cameras. Because, despite several publications claiming that the pair had been ‘over for months’, we can reveal that in fact Millie and Stephen’s mutual decision to part only came in the last two weeks after desperately trying to work out their issues. ‘They finally drew up their life goals and realised they just had different priorities,’ says our source. ‘It was the moment they realised they had to call time on the marriage.’ Last seen together on a city break to Florence last month – Italy has many memories for the couple as it’s where they spent their honeymoon – they looked very loved-up. Actually, though, we know that this trip was a ‘make-or-break’ holiday. ‘Florence was crucial for them and the first time they’d seen each other in over a month,’ an insider told us. ‘They desperately wanted it to work and went away to try to settle their differences, but in the end they both realised they were just completely avoiding spending any time together and it couldn’t go on like that as it wasn’t fair on either of them.’ The two have been very open about their struggles from the start. Last September, Professor Green, 32, admitted the pair had ‘sat down with the same therapist’ in 2014, after just a year of marriage. ‘It was exhausting for them,’ says our source. ‘After sessions, they’d often go to bed arguing because they were holding so many different grudges about silly things like their busy social lives or work commitments.’ And while Millie was recently quoted as saying: ‘I sit down with Stephen at the start of the week and plan things like when we’re going to see each other,’ he recently revealed he’d only spent time with his wife ‘once in 30 days’, adding: ‘It’s good sometimes to have space, but it’s also difficult when you miss someone for that long.’ Their relationship has been so well documented, especially on social media, it’s hard to believe that these

We all know the story: he saw the then Made In Chelsea star on the December 2011 cover of FHM, his people called her people and by the Brits 2012 the unlikeliest of celebrity couples became a thing. And we didn’t think it would last because they couldn’t have been more different: Millie grew up in posh SW3 while Stephen had a hard upbringing in Hackney. But it did work and we loved them more for it. ‘We’re from different backgrounds and I can never pretend that I understand what he’s been through in his life,’ Millie said more recently, ‘but it’s ridiculous to think that people from different backgrounds can’t be together.’ Fast forward two years and they got engaged in Paris and wed in a ceremony, rumoured to cost rumoured £100,000, at exclusive private members’ club Babington House in Somerset, Millie looked slightly distant at with Millie wearing a stunning London Fashion Week Alice Temperley dress. says our source. ‘It got in the way of the underlying close friendship they always shared, which was why they fell in love with each other in the first place. They both tried so hard to make things work for so long and it became emotionally exhausting for them both.’ However, despite feeling sad,

At the end of last week, Professor Green was seen without his wedding ring and with a ‘mystery woman’ but he was quick to tweet: ‘So this is the bit where every bird I’m seen with is the new Mrs’, while Millie also ditched her own ring for her most recent outing. We’re so sad about these two but

‘They Tried To make i T wo r k b u T i T b e ca m e e m oT i ona l ly e x h aus T i n g ’ we’re told that Millie’s doing OK. ‘Once they decided it was time to call it quits, it was a massive relief,’ another pal tells us. ‘She knows it was the right decision – especially as it was one they made together.’ The pair are now planning a ‘quickie’ divorce, although when we contacted Millie’s reps they declined to comment on the matter. The key thing is that they’re both ready to move on.

we’re glad that they’ve managed to remain friends. ‘Now that the pressure of fighting to stay married and being legally bound to each other for life is behind them, it’s as if a massive black cloud has lifted,’ says our source. ‘It’s been a tough year, but that’s all in the past now. They’ve promised each other that they’ll be really supportive of each other and they’re seeing the split as a positive thing.’

re you startled, kate? has something shocking happened? Because there’s something going on in your eyebrow area. the super has been out on the town all week rocking an eternally surprised look and we’re not sure what’s shocked her – it could be the fact that her recent skiing injury means wearing an unfashionable leg brace (it doesn’t come in leopard print, soz) or perhaps new man nikolai von Bismarck is always on hand with a series of jokes with unexpected punchlines? or could it be *whisper it*… surgery? the 42-year-old has always been a champion for ageing naturally and unashamedly sticks to her motto ‘never complain, never explain’. she’s also spoken out about it before: ‘i definitely feel more comfortable in my own skin since turning 40,’ she revealed recently. so if it is surgery then it’ll be a first for her. kate could be in need of a confidence boost, though. after all, she’s now competing with her 18-year-old sister lottie for spots on the Frow, is going through a difficult divorce and dating a guy 13 years younger than her. we’d totally understand. whatever’s happened, we hope Mossy gets herself back to her best sharpish. while we like seeing lottie and co at Fashion week, we really like to spot kate giving it her all at the biggest shows. and knowing kate, by next season she’ll have turned these brows into a huge trend. spock brows – you heard it here first!

Seriously, we were there. Kylie, 47, has been seeing Joshua, 28, for six months and he proposed recently with a huge vintage diamond ring. ‘I’d like to just go back to the hotel and get track pants on and eat crisps and get really comfortable,’ she said. Interview Of The Week

‘I Am So Not A Seductress In Real Life...

And What It Was Really Like Hanging Out With Lady Gaga Natalie Dormer has one hell of a cackle and a touch of sarcasm that we love. But while she’s made a friend in Lady Gaga, she’s no singer…

T

he difficulty with starring in one of the most popular fantasy TV shows ever is that you become recognisable overnight. We get the feeling that most people call Natalie Dormer ‘Margaery’ [her Game Of Thrones character] when they first meet her. Annoying, right? ‘I’m just glad that I didn’t “pop” earlier,’ she says: ‘Because in my twenties, I wasn’t ready.’ Now 34, Natalie’s made the jump from TV – she starred in sexfest The Tudors – to last year filming The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 with J-Law. And we’ve been following her

Natalie alongside Taylor Kinney and Yukiyoshi Ozawa in The Forest

serious fashion game on the red carpet, too: hello Gucci, Roland, Dolce… But more recently she’s been working with Taylor Kinney [Lady Gaga’s man] in supernatural thriller The Forest [out 26 February], about a woman searching for her missing twin in a forest famed for paranormal activity. Natalie loved it – and she got to hang out with Lady G…

Hi Natalie, The Forest is your first lead film role – how does it feel? It’s great. I’ve been the lead on stage several times and I’ve been the lead on TV a number of times. I’m familiar with the responsibility of a project. I thought: “You know, I’ve never done a horror,” and it’s different to anything I’ve done before. What’s it like getting to know a new crew? I’m a nosy b***h. And I’m also with an Irishman [her fiancé Anthony

Byrne] and the Irish are very curious and they love to talk to people. So yeah, I like asking people lots of questions wherever I go. I want to get to know the people I work with. How was it co-starring with Taylor? Taylor’s amazing. I love him. He has an ease and charm that’s so natural and plays perfectly in his character. He’s Lady Gaga’s fiancé, so did you ever hang out? Oh yes, she came to visit and we all had dinner. It was super fun! The location of the film seems to be a very scary place… The Aokigahara forest in Japan is a reallife place where people go to commit suicide. Scary, yes – believe me. It made me a bit philosophical and a bit sad more than anything that people make this choice to die there. Do you like horror films? Not really. I prefer comedies. I don’t get a kick out of being scared. I’m a bit of a chicken, really. I like psychologically interesting horror movies. It’s pretty different to your previous roles. Was it nice to not be in a corset for a change? I’ve only actually really done, like, three period pieces in my

he’s been there for you all year, helped you out when you really needed it, never turned her back on you despite your untidiness/ laziness/the fact you call her less than you should (delete as appropriate), so you really owe her this Mother’s Day. Flowers aren’t going to cut it. We’re talking lunch, pampering and maybe a film – and we reckon The Choice is the perfect watch for you both. It’s the latest novel adaptation by Nicholas Sparks to hit our screens and just like his other smash-hit flicks – he’s the man who wrote The Notebook, for crying out loud – we can tell you it’ll make you laugh and cry. It really doesn’t disappoint. When charming vet Travis (up-and-

coming actor Benjamin Walker) first meets his new neighbour, medical student Gabby (rising star Teresa Palmer), they don’t get off to a good start. But when Travis tries to sort things, his wiseguy antics only frustrate sensible Gabby and she rejects his efforts. Cue Travis falling for the girl he can’t get. Now, not only does Gabby have a major problem with her neighbour, she also has a serious doctor boyfriend (rich girl problems, obvs), but soon she’s starting to realise that Travis might actually be The One. With plenty of romance, heartbreak and so many puppies, this flick will make you think about the choices we make and what it truly means to love someone. Also, did we mention the puppies? Basically, you’re onto a winner with this one, so don’t leave it to the last minute and instead book your tickets, sharpish. And when your mum’s heaping praise on you for how thoughtful you’ve been, just remember who helped you, eh? Treat her this Mother’s Day and book now.

Find out if it’s joy or heartbreak for Travis and Gabby

I predict Lancôme’s Juicy Shaker, £18, to be as popular as its iconic Juicy Tubes. The two-phase formula contains pigments and conditioning oils such as cranberry and sweet almond to give a punchy colour while smoothing lips. Samantha

@LOOKmag

it’s no wonder that the new Calvin Klein Eternity Now fragrance campaign has got everyone talking. After all, it stars the most beautiful model couple on the block – Jasmine tookes and tobias sorensen, who, yes, are actually dating in real life! the duo got up close and personal on set of the photo shoot for the new fragrance, which, by the way, is the ultimate romantic scent thanks to notes of patchouli and cedar wood. i got to chat to the couple about starring in their first campaign together, staying in model-worthy shape and their life in new York. head over to Look.co.uk/ JasmineAndtobias to read what they said…

Butter London

Sheer Wisdom Nail Tinted Moisturizer HHH Look’s Sam : A tinted moisturiser for nails? Yes, really! This nourishing treatment helped my nails grow and repaired any flakes. Also, I loved that there’s such a wide range of different nudes, from pinky tones to orangey – one for every skin tone. Natasha: I loved this. It made my nails look like a perfect mani and had a little more colour than most nudes. The only downside was that it took longer than the others to dry.

BB Crème All-In-One Topical Cosmetic Treatment HHHH Look’s Sam: My nails looked super-smooth and shiny thanks to this treatment. I mistook it for a base coat at first, but after letting it dry I realised it had a gorgeous matte peachy tone. Natasha: The packaging made this look like a base/top coat, but it was nice enough to wear on its own thanks to the creamy matte shade.

3

Illamasqua

Nail Veil in Bamboo HHHHH Look’s Sam: I’ve always loved having nude nails and this peachy polish is a firm fave. The warmer tone was so flattering and made my hands look really tanned. Natasha: This varnish made my nails look so shiny and healthy. It had a lovely peachy tone and made my manicure look fresh and natural.

Mani Mask in Bashful HHHH Look’s Sam: The perfect strengthening treatment and it left a lovely semi-matte finish. It really conditioned my nails and brightened them up. Natasha: The cheapest product and one of the longest lasting. It’s not the easiest to apply as the brush was quite wide, but it was still a lovely matte finish.

5

Deborah Lippmann

Gel Lab Pro Nail Colour in Peaches & Cream HHHH Look’s Sam: This pinky-toned varnish contained so many beneficial ingredients to help aid healthier, stronger nails. It lasted for weeks and left my nails absolutely flawless. Natasha: I don’t usually like a pink-toned nude – I prefer them more peachy – but this one was an exception because it was so shiny and left my nails in great condition.

New York backdrop, 50s styling and total glamour, Brooklyn has it all, so it’s no wonder it scored both BAFTA and Academy Awards® recognition – and now you can own it on DVD. Brooklyn tells the story of Eilis (played by the gorgeous Saoirse Ronan), who leaves Ireland to carve out a bright future in New York. But when she falls for Tony (Emory Cohen), Eilis has to make a heartbreaking choice between her new love and her old flame

Jim (Domhnall Gleeson). The sets and styling take the film to another level, with nearly every item Eilis wears being an original vintage piece sourced by Emmy award-winning designer Odile Dicks-Mireaux. ‘I didn’t want the costumes to distract from [the storytelling],’ she reveals.
