Rai Bahadur Arcot Narrainswamy is a missionary, who envisioned that education is a tool that empowers an individual and at the larger milieu would eradicate poverty and lead the nation on the path of progress. His concept was to make education accessible even for the poorest of poor, and felt that was the way of service to the society.

He came from a family of less fortune and had a testing childhood. He had to shoulder the responsibility of his family from a very young age. He began his life as a travelling salesman, selling vegetables at Madras and salt at Bangalore. He attracted the notice of His highness the Maharaja Krishnaraja Wadiyar III and earned the honour of a visit of his Highness Chama Rajendra Wadiyar. He widened his sphere and bagged the contract for the construction of the magnificent Public Offices in Cubbon Park and made a large fortune and was acclaimed as “Merchant Prince of Bangalore”. It could be said about him Could walk with kings and yet not lose the common touch.

Like Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam feels, “Dreams are really important and our institution is the manifestation of our founder profonde dream.
