We can offer help and advice in placing your children into secondary schools best suited to them. Inglebrook School was started in 1963 by the present Principal, Mrs Joyce Bellamy, with just half-a-dozen three-year-olds.
Mrs Bellamy has been joined by her daughter, Mrs Gillian Strickleton, Vice Principal. Inglebrook has an impressive academic tradition of which we are justly proud. The children are successfully prepared for whichever schools they may later attend. We value every child for whoever they are and we give them a chance to shine as an individual or as part of a team. Inglebrook is a happy school. Our well-qualified, dedicated and caring staff expect the best from each and every child, and ensure that all the children fulfil their potential. Our motto is Striving for Excellence and we encourage the children to pursue this in both academic and leisure activities, and so find the pleasure in achievement.
Introduction
All three and four year olds may attend every morning at no cost.
Our Nursery is a preparation for school life, where children learn to share and care together. Individual attention is given to the social and academic needs of each child and our little students enjoy their introduction to literacy and numeracy. Initially the younger children attend part time only, moving on to full-time schooling when they are ready.

Ofsted report 2011. ‘The behaviour of the children is outstanding.’ Reading is the basis of all education, and our thorough and carefully-planned system embraces many reading schemes, both ‘Look and Say’ and phonetics, being systematically taught. We hear the younger children read every day, each child progressing at his or her own pace. Progress is carefully monitored throughout the school; fluency, comprehension and enjoyment are thus achieved.
A wide range of resource books are used for individual study. From an early age Inglebrook children develop a love of books and enjoy choosing their favourites.

Religious Education is taught with Christian beliefs, and we welcome children of all faiths. Although our assemblies are non-denominational they are based
on stories from the Bible and their practical application. We observe the Christian calendar, and have a Carol Service in one of the nearby Churches.
French is introduced from year 4, and the children welcome the opportunity to visit France.
Art, Craft, Design and Technology All children are given the opportunity to develop their skills in these areas. They are also given an introduction to needlework and knitting.
Topic Work is reinforced by visits to cities such as London, York and Leeds, as well as to museums and many other places of interest.

Science is introduced to awaken an interest in the world around us. Music Inglebrook has a strong musical tradition and the children are encouraged to play recorders and sing, both in our choirs and as soloists. We have an enviable reputation for our participation in Music Festivals in both speech and music classes. Our Christmas concerts include every child and are greatly enjoyed by our performers and audience alike.
In each classroom a happy working atmosphere prevails. Discipline is both firm and fair. Small classes ensure a friendly relationship between teacher and child. The children have a broad-based timetable that includes environmental studies embracing history and geography.

The children learn to swim at the local pool. They are taught Water Skills and safety by the Pool’s qualified instructors. Football We are fortunate to have the services of a Professional Coach who teaches football skills. Gymnastics Lessons in gymnastics lead to B.A.G.A awards for all, and also to qualifications in gymnastic dance for girls.
Our lively and energetic youngsters have ample opportunities for physical activities, as well as games and exercises within their own classes.
Sports

Children may be dropped off at school from 8am and may stay each day until 5 pm for supervised play. We also have a Holiday Club which is open during the school holidays. After school there are optional classes in ballet, tap and stage craft. We have an art club, a construction club and piano and clarinet lessons can be arranged.
The children are encouraged to think of others less fortunate than themselves, and over the years we have raised thousands of pounds for a variety of charities.
Out of School
The wearing of Inglebrook’s blue and gold uniform fosters a pride in our school. A uniform list is enclosed.
Parents of prospective pupils are very welcome to visit the school. Please telephone for a prospectus or call in any time to see the children at work and play.
A tasty two-course meal is provided for all at a reasonable cost. The children are encouraged to drink a one-third pint of milk each morning.
At anytime parents may call in and read our policies on: Admissions, Provision of SEN, Curriculum policy, Bullying, Health and Safety, Behaviour and sanctions, Complaints procedure and Academic performance. A copy of our policy on Safeguarding will be sent to anyone on request.
