As second-generation dairy farmers, the Riley brothers expanded the family business in the 1980s by utilizing pastureland to raise high-quality Angus cattle, supplementing lean production years in the dairy market and row crops. The farm prioritizes the use of forages, such as balayage and dry hay in the winter, while in the spring and summer, the cattle graze on grasses like rye, fescue, and crabgrass. This approach enhances the cattle’s diet and promotes sustainable practices. In 2007, they purchased their first set of registered Hereford cattle to produce high-quality commercial replacement females. The Riley’s focus on breeding cattle that are fertile, have sound feet and legs, and feature good udder shape and size, all while prioritizing performance.
The Hereford females were bred to Country Boy Red Angus bulls to produce these yearling commercial Red and Red Baldy females. These heifers were reproductive tract scored and pelvic measurements taken. All heifers are guaranteed open.
