President’s Message
This NYRAA membership directory serves as valid proof of high-level excitement and enthusiasm in the Red Angus Breed! The engaged member-breeders listed on these pages represent the largest membership group in the history of our organiza�on! As the presiding officer of the NYRAA, I am thrilled to report that we are now over 50 members strong, and serve to support members in six states including New York, Connec�cut, Maine, New Jersey, Ohio and Pennsylvania.
I have developed a deep apprecia�on for each of the volunteers and consignors who have made this organiza�on into what it is today. It’s absolutely wonderful to be surrounded by members who are forward-thinking, and possessing a “can do” a�tude! Our organiza�on seems to be over-flowing with members who place service above self, and who are passionate about the future of the Red Angus Breed in the Northeast. Leading this organiza�on for the past few years has been an honor, as well as a privilege.
I believe that there will be amazing market opportuni�es for progressive breeders of Red Angus catle during the next decade. It is with honor, that I accepted the nomina�on from Na�onal Red Angus president, Kyley DeVoe, to become a member of the RAAA Alliance Commitee. I am very eager to roll up my sleeves and be a part of the na�onal movement which is placing a laser-focus on source-verified gene�cs and documented beef quality parameters. I con�nue to listen and to learn about the strong industry signals indica�ng marke�ng catle based on hair color and hide will likely diminish in �me. Now, more than ever, is �me for catle breeders to focus on what’s under the hide, rather than what’s on the outside of the hide.
From where I sit, there is no beter �me to be in the beef catle business, especially with Red Angus catle. The industry is posed for expansion, and the Red Angus breed has earned the respect of the en�re beef industry. Please consider reaching out to any one of the NYRAA officers, and see how you can be more directly involved with breed promo�on, marke�ng, leadership development, the bull and heifer development program, or the annual “Right on Red” Sale.
