A parking permit is required for ALL parking lots at both campuses. Summers and minimesters are free! To purchase a parking permit, visit the BHC Police Department at either campus, the Bursar’s Office at the Quad-Cities Campus, or Enrollment Services at the East Campus. Students using financial aid to pay for their parking permit can obtain a voucher at the Hawk’s Hub or the East Campus Bookstore. How to apply
Financial Aid
Financial aid consists of scholarships, grants, loans and/or part-time employment, depending upon student need. To be considered for financial aid, apply online at www.fafsa.gov. Processing takes 1-2 weeks. Contact the Financial Aid Office at 309-796-5400 at the Quad-Cities Campus or 309-854-1708 at the East Campus. If a student completely withdraws during the semester after federal financial aid payment has been made, the student may be required to return a portion of the federal financial aid awarded. Contact the Financial Aid Office for more information.
How to use your financial aid in BHC bookstores Students may use their financial aid funds in either campus bookstore to purchase textbooks, school supplies, clothing, computers, cafeteria meal vouchers, etc. In order to use funds in the bookstores, students must provide their BHC student ID card OR their student ID number along with a photo ID.

Steps to enrolling for new students at Black Hawk College Step 1: Submit an Application · Complete and submit an online application at www.bhc.edu/apply. · Visit www.bhc.edu/compass to prepare and sign up for placement testing. · Effective April 5, 2016, all applicants must pay a $20 application fee at time of submission. Step 2: Apply for Financial Aid · Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.gov. Black Hawk College’s school code is 001638. For more information on types of aid available and how to apply, visit www.bhc.edu/financialaid. Step 3: Receive Welcome Letter · Receive Welcome Letter via e-mail address within two days of online application submission, or two weeks if a personal e-mail address is not provided. This letter contains critical student identification information.. Step 4: Take Placement Test · Take an assessment of your skill levels in reading, writing and math at BHC. · Visit www.bhc.edu/compass to find out more information about how to schedule your placement testing. Step 5: Complete Online Orientation · New students must complete online orientation in myBlackHawk for the BHC basics. How do I log in the first time?
1. Please turn off ALL pop-up blockers (Norton,Google, Yahoo, Internet Explorer). 2. You will need a username and password. • Username is provided to you in your acceptance letter from the college. • First-time password is your six-digit birth date in the form of MMDDYY (no slashes or dashes). 3. Upon first successful login, you MUST change your password. • It must contain at least one letter, one number and be six to 12 characters long. • Password is case-sensitive. 4. You will need to answer seven secret questions. • One-word, lowercase answers are best. • Answers are required in order for you to reset your own password.
What if I forget my password? 1. Type username.
2. Click on link, “Forgot your password? Click here.” 3. Enter username and click the CONTINUE button. 4. Answer two secret questions EXACTLY the way you answered them when you logged in the first time. • Invalid answers will cause the system to ask you two more questions until you answer two secret questions successfully. • Correct answers will allow you to reset your password. 5. Reset and confirm password. • Choose something that is easy to remember. 6. Click SAVE CHANGES button.
