Instructor: K. Keesecker, BS, AAS, CMA (AAMA) This course is designed to educate the public about the important role the public plays in providing potentially life-saving interventions prior to the arrival of emergency services. The overall goal of this course is to teach participants basic skills to keep people with life-threatening injuries alive until professional help arrives. Serious injuries require immediate action to stop someone from dying. While emergency medical responders are quick to arrive, any delay between injury and the initiation of care can result in death. Those nearest to someone with life-threatening injuries are best positioned to provide the first care. At the end of this course, participants will be able to communicate with 9-1-1 operators effectively, act to protect the injured from further harm, position the injured, stop life-threatening bleeding, and provide emotional support. 1 Thursday Sept. 15 5:30 - 8:00 p.m. Outreach - Rm. 407 Fee $35 In-person Class ID 530 Last day for refund: 9/9
