Blackhawk Residents Don’t Give Up...
By Blackhawk Police Chief Ian Hebert and Aaron Wally Barger, Resident since 2012

Neither does the Blackhawk Police Department! It has been “all hands on deck” this year.
The HOA paid for an additional police officer late last year, cleared bushy areas to increase visibility at strategic locations surrounding the golf courses, installed additional lighting at strategic locations, and established a network of cameras for twenty-four-hour coverage of the community. Further, Blackhawk police officers are involved in the continuing, ongoing investigation of every aspect of the seventeen burglaries that accord in 2017. To date, no arrest has been made, but the officers are committed to following every lead concerning each of the burglaries locally, statewide, and nationally.
By definition police investigations of the magnitude and complexity of the seventeen burglaries in Blackhawk during 2017 requires a team approach that includes patience, determination, and perseverance. From my conversations with the police officers, HOA staff and Board members of our community,
The most aggrieved in this whole affair are the victims. The monetary losses are not nearly as traumatic as the psychological and emotional effects upon the victims. The long-term repercussions for anyone suffering such an invasion are difficult to imagine, but a number of our neighbors did have to cope with such an ordeal. And, that is why our police force, the HOA, and others in Blackhawk are still working to get to the bottom of these seventeen crimes.
At the same time, the police officers, in cooperation with the HOA, are working with security experts to further ensure the safety and protection of our property. You, too, have a role in this effort. Talk with your neighbors, make sure you coordinate and stay vigilant during extended visits away from each other’s home, and establish a phone-tree to network with your immediate neighbors in case of an emergency or unusual activity near your homes.
Chief Hebert of the Blackhawk Police Department wants residents to call 925-646-2441 if they see a suspicious individual peeking into vehicles or scoping out a location in or near the Blackhawk community.
