Jittergram (iOS)
Self Control is a free and pragmatic app which lets you block your own access to distracting websites, your mail servers, or anything else on the Internet. Just set a period of time to block for, add sites to your blacklist, and click "Start." Until that timer expires, you will be unable to access those sites--even if you restart your computer or delete the application.
Jittergram allows you to make animated GIFs, 3D stereograms, or long-stop slow motion animation images on your phone. Not only can it use your phone camera to create a photography portfolio, but it can also convince the world you’re an animator. @baddiewinkle This Grandma has ‘no chill’ as she says in her bio, along with the line ‘stealing your man since 1928’. Completely reforming the image of a stereotypical homely grandmother, her pictures include the 86-year-old in a Drake t-shirt, passing ‘baddie’ comments, along with her collection of tie-dye shirts which read ‘Will commit sins for Chipotle’. This grandma puts us all to shame with her sass and sarcasm.

HOMELESS AND LOST
Aisha and her sister get up at 3:30 a.m. every morning. No, they're not insomniacs, or masochists. They've just got forty nine cats to take care of. Providing them with fresh food, water, medication and cleaning the rooms they're housed in is a full time job. Aisha has been rescuing cats and the occasional dog or bird since adopting her first “baby” in 2008. When her family moved to a villa, her parents finally allowed her to adopt a cat or two, but it turned out she couldn't stop there. After falling in love with her first cat, Tex, who would have been put down if she hadn't adopted him, it snowballed. Or rather, fur-balled. Aisha and her sister are now constantly picking up cats off the street, nursing them back to health, and finding them loving homes. The ones that end up needing the most care, due to illness or disability, they keep for themselves. “We have cats that are diabetic, one without a kidney, two that are blind, and one with a deformed face due to a car accident. All her meals need to be mixed with water and blended into a thin pulp in order for her to lick her food into her mouth. Violet was in a car accident and cannot move her lower jaw and lost all except two teeth.”
see it. scan it. get it.
They also have a paralysed kitten, two cats that have to have their bladders emptied every four hours because they can't control their bowels, one that's deaf, and two that have an amputated limb. There are a host of identifiable reasons as to why there are so many stray cats. For one thing, the majority of them are not neutered or spayed, which means a guaranteed rise in the population. Cats have babies too. Cute as the kittens are, it spells big trouble for the stray cat population overall as the competition for territory and food rises. It isn't just the strays; pet owners who do not get their cats fixed also contribute to the problem. Some cats get out, and then end up returning pregnant. Sadder still is when owners abandon their unfixed pets for whatever reason, not only making the poor things homeless, but potentially leading to more strays as the cats breed. Many have been trying to combat the issue. Individuals and organisations alike work to help the animals as well as raise awareness in their communities about how others can contribute. So while there are people out there fighting for these animals’ lives, there are no national campaigns raising awareness about the need to neuter or spay one’s pets. What you can do: 1. Adopt- There are hundreds of animals that have been abandoned and need homes. Buying a pet not only feeds an industry based on animal abuse, but also means one less home for a creature desperately in need of love and care. 2. Spay/ Neuter your Pets- If you can accord then even help the strays in your area. Try and donate to your local underfunded shelters, be it with toys, money, litter, food, or your time as a temporary carer. You don’t have to wake up at 3:30 a.m. every day like Aisha, or have to own 40+ cats, or go broke trying to feed the ones in your area. All it takes is a bit of compassion, a bit of awareness, and a bit of effort.

HOW SUCCESS AND ADVENTURE ARE INTERWINED Studying abroad, whether it be an undergraduate or postgraduate degree, a PhD, or even a short course is an opportunity few people get, that is a means of exploring the world while simultaneously improving oneself and future employment prospects. Not bad for one swing of the bat, eh? Two birds, one stone etc. etc. Choosing to study internationally is a big step, but that’s why events like the Global Education Fairs exist, to aid those looking to improve their education and future prospects. Check out their top tips to help guide you:
1 2 3 4
Why should I choose to study abroad? Many students realise that employers value international experience, while of course the value of seeing the world, exploring oneself and becoming enveloped in a new culture or language cannot be understated. When you move to study, you’re expected to make new friends, join particular groups or classes, perhaps even find a new job. These elements are essentially true wherever you go to study. Are these things fun? Generally, no, but you do them because it makes you better. It’s character building. Which course should I choose? Where? When? How? The course you choose is one of the most important steps you’ll make in your career. Your choice will be decided by a myriad of factors: your interests, your family, your financial opportunity, your common sense, your bravery. Representatives at the fair can help a lot with these decisions. You just have to prepare yourself and understand the types of options you have before asking. Unfortunately, no one will be able to decide for you. Here’s an easy thing to start with though: where are you interested in studying? Where should I study? The United States, Canada, France and India are among the most popular destinations, but students are also inclined to favour the Malaysia and the UK while Europe and Asia in general remain well liked. These are, of course, general suggestions. Choosing a country to live in is one of the most unique and personal decisions you can make. How to prepare for the fair? Make sure you register, first and foremost. It’s free, was that mentioned? Bring water, any documentation you might need and a bag. These three tips can apply to basically anything. Prepare some questions. Don’t forget, this fair is about doing everything we can to help you make the right decision. So there you have it. If you’ve made it this far well done. But there’s a little more to do. Be bold, be adventurous and you will be a success before you know it. Jawbone UP2 Samsung Galaxy TabPro S The Galaxy Tab Pro S is the latest addition to the world of tablets who want to be laptops. The device is a direct answer to Microsoft's Surface Pro 4 and Apple’s iPad Pro. It runs the full desktop version of Windows 10, unlike iOS on the iPad Pro. The Tab Pro S uses the same design philosophy as Samsung’s latest Galaxy S7 smartphone. The tablet is thinner than the iPad Pro and Surface Pro 4. There is only one USB Type-C port and the lack of any USB Type-A ports or HDMI output may be a deal breaker for some who want a complete laptop, however the answer to that problem is a simple adaptor. The 12-inch Gorilla Glass screen uses Super AMOLED technology and has a resolution of 2160x1440. The colours are well balanced and vibrant making it perfect for watching your favourite movie or TV show.
Up2 by Jawbone is a sleek fitness band which tracks your activity, sleep and food intake. Data on your exercise and activities is synced wirelessly to your phone via the UP app which displays visual charts, diagrams and tips to help you reach your goals and get fit this year. During idle time the device reminds you that you have rested for too long by making your band vibrate. The band also automatically switches to sleep mode and calculates the duration and quality of your sleep, while notifying you of the number of times you had woken up and how long you were awake for. It requires only an hour of charge to run for 10 days uninterrupted and comes as rain, splash and sweat resistant.
by Sanjana Raheja

Musician
EYE Yard
Experiment
Empty
EYE, Empty Yard Experiment was formed in 2007 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The band’s music is essentially a unique combination of sub-genres which includes the alternative and progressive varieties of rock, as well as experimental and instrumental/post-rock. Since their inception, EYE have built an impressive live portfolio, including high-profile opening spots for Metallica, Evanescence and Anathema. The band has gotten used to non-conformity and live to create an artistic, multi-sensory approach to live shows. Our team had the chance to speak to EYE and get to know them better.
see it. scan it. get it.
Where does the band as a collective unit draw inspiration from for lyrics, sounds, and live production? We’ve been called everything from post-rock and prog metal, to post-prog. Musically speaking, everyone brings their influences along with them. Mehdi is a big King Crimson, Porcupine Tree and Queens of the Stone Age fan. Gorgin is majorly influenced by Nine Inch Nails. Josh and Bojan is inspired by Meshuggah, Karnivool, TesseracT, Periphery. Kaveh, meanwhile, is an avid admirer of legendary acts such as Bob Dylan and The Beatles. “Kallisti” is very much a product of all of these influences. How different was the latest album, Kallisti from other previous projects that the band undertook? Our EP comprised a collection of some four years worth of material that, true to the band’s songwriting and performance dynamic, had extensively evolved over the years to appear in its final form on the record. ‘Kallisti’, however, is the product of a much more collaborative musical relationship between the five of us, and everyone really put all of their influences and ideas on the table this time around. Right around the beginning of the summer 2013, after we had just opened for Metallica and come back from headlining a festival in Lebanon, we locked ourselves up at Kaveh’s house for about two-and-a-half months and just wrote and tracked demos before getting into the studio with our longtime producer and collaborator Joshua Williams. He really helped shape the thinking and the sound behind that album, and we took up on his ideas wholeheartedly, so much so that it all ended up making the record much more memorable as an auditory experience.
“After we opened for Metallica at a festival in Lebanon, we locked ourselves up at Kaveh’s house for about two-anda-half months”
Coming up to the night that EYE opened for Metallica, was there any difference in preparation for that live show compared to how eye would prepare for other live shows? We’ve been asked this question before, and the answer is “not really.” We treat each show in the same way as far as preparation is concerned, no matter what the size of the audience is. We’re always fully rehearsed and prepared in the same way. That being said, the way you interact with an audience of 25,000 is obviously different than, say, a crowd of 250 people, but essentially, you still have to find a way to keep everyone engaged and connected in a deep and meaningful way. For us, that is the core thrill to performing and bringing our music into a live setting. The visual material that we project while playing is definitely one powerful way of creating that connection, and has always been an important tool in making the overall experience more unforgettable for the audience.

Born in the Philippines, Kenneth Surat is an Architect by profession, designer by passion and travel blogger by choice. He is currently working as a lead designer in one of Dubai’s top Luxury Design Firms. The idea to start a blog came to him seven years ago. Since then, filled with passion, Kenneth’s travel blog has inspired globetrotters. His desire for travel grew which motivated him to start his own line of travel journals called Surat Journals and The Travelling Journal Project. Our team had the opportunity to speak with Kenneth and learn more about him and his love for travel.

“I am so happy how a simple journal can inspire people to travel and see the world.
Do you have any advice for those who want to start a travel blog? If traveling is your passion, I suggest that you should just go and write about it. Don't let anyone dictate to you what to write and what not to write. Travel blogging is a diverse field, all you have to do is to find what you are passionate about and write about it. If you are serious about travel blogging and want to turn it into a career, I would advise you to invest your money and time. Get a good website host, read on different existing travel blogs and let them inspire you. Learn about some technical stuff like SEO and how blogging works in the big sphere of the Internet. Most importantly LOVE what you do.

by Janine Jolly
What inspired you to start travel blogging? My very first travel blog entry was written on a train on the way from Shanghai to Beijing seven years ago. It didn't really talk about the places which I had visited and the food that I ate. I just wrote about my feelings during the whole experience, and how traveling has changed my outlook on life. This was also my very first backpacking trip. From then on, I realised that traveling is what I am passionate about and that I wanted to share this passion with the world. What is your favourite destination so far? I would have to say Norway, since the country is just picturesque! I met a lot of good friends and most of the time, it is the people who you will meet who can turn an experience from good to great. You are very passionate about design. Can you tell us more about Surat Journals? Surat Journals is a sophisticated, old school looking, handmade journal that I began creating a few years ago due to a lack of rustic and retro options . It started out as a hobby and when my friends saw what I was using they asked me to make one for them. After that I started getting orders from different parts of the world. Now I am selling Surat Journals online and also at some bazaars in Dubai.

Dangers of Social Media
see it. scan it. get it.
DANGERS OF SOCIAL MEDIA Social media can be a fun place to share pictures of yourself, your friends and all the wonderful places that you have visited. But it’s easy to lose track of how much personal information you’re sharing online. As a result, young adults often become victims to cyber-bullying where their pictures and details are used against them. Information that you post on social media can be used to track your surroundings and whereabouts. Something as personal as your phone number, which social media websites endlessly pester users to add, can suddenly be revealed publicly due to a random change of terms and conditions. Your Facebook albums can be used to identify you, family and close friends and their information can also be used against you. Information put online will forever be on the world wide web (www), whether your account is private or public. So, it’s really important to analyse what kind of content you should or shouldn’t be posting online. Instead of succumbing to peer pressure and “checking in” on Facebook, or Snapchat using filter locations be careful when you allow people to identify where you are.
1 2 3 4
Tineye.com helps you track your pictures, by displaying where your uploaded pictures have travelled across the web, and which websites have used it.
Do not let out personal information or photos that you wouldn't want the local newspaper, magazine or your family to know.
It’s relatively safer to switch your social media settings to private and switch off the map feature on Instagram.
Beware of oversharing such as your birth date, home address or home phone number, passwords, PIN numbers, bank account, passport details and credit card information.
5 6 7
Disable location features on Facebook or any other social media platform and avoid “checking in”.
Make sure not to post inappropriate pictures on Snapchat because people can screenshot it.
Did you know that your iPhone also tracks and maps out your visited locations? This feature is turned on by default from the time you buy your iPhone. Go to Privacy > Location Services >scroll down to “System Services” >scroll down again to “Frequent Locations” and turn it off. The fact that this feature is hidden behind so many windows is scary enough; one can easily steal your iPhone and get hold of all your frequent locations, including your house.

Travel
A Drive to the
RAK Peak I stopped at a gas station in Julphar to refill and to check my tires. Surrounding the area are tiny houses with a backdrop of sky-piercing mountains. It is a Saturday afternoon, and the temperature is thirty degrees Celsius when I left home. The drive from the center of Ras Al Khaimah to Wadi Bih takes about thirty minutes. The narrow roads are filled with cars from different Emirates; like me, they are travelling to the highest peak in the country. The way to the top of the mountain takes an additional thirty minutes, but the scenery is worth the drive: towering rocks seemingly forming a maze around me. People of different nationalities are spending time with their family and friends. They are scattered along the road all the way to the top, which makes the task of interviewing them even more interesting. There are no parking slots. People park randomly, hurrying to find the perfect spots to take pictures. The sun will soon be setting. The crowds indicate that the people of UAE are not only looking for skyscrapers and grand shopping malls, but enjoy spending holidays in natural places like Jabal Jais. The people here are open and willing to talk about their experiences. Ahmed Adnan is a fifty seven-year-old; he recalls how he used to come in the early nineties with his family to Wadi Bih during winter to enjoy the nature, especially after rainy days. He says that this location has always attracted people from different Emirates, but that no one imagined that Jabal Jais would one day be a favourite destination for nature lovers. Adnan added that he used to look towards the jagged mountains and wonder if any person reached that point; he is fortunate to have visited the mountain every year since the road opened. The Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah spent over three hundred million Dirhams on the road to Jabal Jais. The road to the summit is still rubble. Despite this, many adventurous visitors are willing to complete the last six-kilometer hike to the top, especially during snowfall. The mountain is one thousand, nine hundred-metres high and is considered a magnet for enthusiastic drivers, looking for a long drive with a view.

Records show that the temperatures dropped to minus three degrees Celsius in the winter, with the peak of the mountain fully covered in about twenty centimeters of thick, thick snow. Basel Mohammed recalls how hard it was to get to the summit just two years ago. He says “Walking on the steep, rough rocks wasn’t easy, but touching the clouds and the snow with my own hands was the most beautiful thing I have ever experienced.” Khalid Mousa is a Palestinian car racer from Abu Dhabi who visited the mountain last month with his friends. Mousa and his friends are part of the UAE Camaro Family; their journey to Jabal Jais took four hours. The passionate drivers were able to reach the top easily, without any clear road signs. Compared to Hafeet Mountain in Al-Ain, Mousa believes that driving to Jabal Jais was more exciting because of its steep roads and sharper bends. Mousa is planning to visit the mountain in the near future for an overnight stay.
The government of RAK is planning to build a hotel, golf course and ski slope. The construction of public restrooms was completed recently. Food trucks are also available on weekends. Rasha Hussam believes that planting trees along the road to the top would make it one of the best spots in the country. Hussam also thinks that having chair lifts would be an incredible idea. Jabal Jais is a destination that people are increasingly exploring in Ras Al Khaimah. So why not give it a go and explore the rocky mountains of the UAE.

Following 2 record breaking releases, “El Donia Shabab” and “Bel Gharam”, The 5 are the MENA region's number #1 boy band. The group comprises of talented young men hailing from Egypt (Ahmed Hassan), Algeria (Said Karmouz & BMD), Lebanon (Kazem Chamas) and Morocco (Adil Echbiy). This is the first ever pan-Arab musical group that has exploded across the airwaves following their successful stint on MBC’s 2015 edition of hugely popular talent show “The X-Factor.” The group has also been signed to Sony Music Middle East right out of the show’s finale. The 5 have quickly soared to stellar heights thanks to their delightful harmonies, impressive vocal acrobatics, unique personalities, and their infectious smiles. The group’s main intention is to “create different, energetic music that reawakens the spirit of youth – and inspires the idea of good fortune in life.” In recent news the boys have been nominated for “Favourite Arab Act” at the 2016 Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards.
With all of you coming from different countries and cultures, how does that influence the music you make? Well, the mix of cultures and countries gives the group a nice fusion between the many styles and influences that are currently popular. For example, Kazem sings Djabali, Ahmed sings Tarab, Adil sings Rai and Charkie as well, Said and BMD sing in English. In addition, BMD is a rapper. So you see, this unique mix helps us create so much variety for our fans. All of you are so different when it comes to your style in music, how do you manage to make it sound harmonious? We always look for a style that best complements our personalities and portrays the scope of our vocal diversity. Arabic music lends itself to such diversity through its different melodic modes and compositions; between Modern Arabic dance and mainstream Arabic pop, we find the most harmonious tunes which best represent us as a band.
Does your knowledge of dialects and words from different backgrounds add to or hinder the singing/writing process? It's a big plus for us and gives our band the opportunity to mix various styles and dialects, which helps us connect better to people. Does singing in English cause you to have a lower emotional connection to your audience as compared to singing Arabic? Not really, to us singing in English sometimes adds extra emotions we are not able to express in Arabic. Since we all come from Arab countries, singing in Arabic is always a better option for us and our fans. It is not a bad idea to also mix some English or French with Arabic.
Since you have chosen the UAE as your operational base, what are your thoughts on the music scene here? We love that the UAE has a very mature music scene which helps us to grow even more musically. Meanwhile, the UAE is the hub for Arabic and international media, with a great blend of different cultures and an art scene with diverse influences. All of this makes it the perfect place and space to present and get our music across. Your fans call themselves the Fivers, how do you feel about this? Our fans are the best and we feel so proud they named themselves the Fivers. We love them and when we make our music we always have them in our minds.

Cover Story
The band is constantly being compared to One Direction, how do you feel about that? The scenario with One Direction also happened in many other countries and not just in the Arab X Factor. We believe that we are different because of the fusion we bring to our music. We continue to work on reinventing our sound and our styles which is quite different from One Direction. Also, our group is from four different countries while the members of One D. come from the same country and five different cities. We hope to achieve what they have and become global music sensations. Which artist do you all mutually love? We all admire Cheb Khalid, Hamaki, and Wael Kafoury’s work.

When you eventually start writing your songs, what would you like the music to sound like? Is there any special message you would like to get across through your lyrics? The message that we love to deliver is about positivity, being good and leading a peaceful life. Would you ever like to sing to raise awareness for different social and political problems in different parts of the world? Yeah! Since we all belong to the Arab world and we represent the new generation, it would be great to shed light on the issues these countries face. It would be an honor to share their problems and happiness through music. All of you are fairly young and your career has just begun, where do you see yourselves in five years? In five years we see The 5 growing and becoming a part of the global music scene and not just within the Arab world. If The 5 did not exist, what would all of you be doing right now? Probably finishing our studies in general, pursuing our careers in modelling, entertainment and possibly working towards becoming solo artists.

Furry Ball
A Furry New Friend Adopting a pet is a great and noble decision to make. Pets are living creatures which require love, care and affection from their owners. All your pet requires is attention and play time. They are very sensitive, understanding and incredibly loyal creatures. Here are some points to consider before adopting a pet.
Humane Society Find online adoption places for the pets you want to shelter, make sure you get in contact with them and visit their adoption house. A great place to check for dogs is K9 Friends and for cats we would suggest Feline Friends. Personality Each and every dog has a unique personality, just like human beings. So Look for a pet that you think you will get along with. Also ask for their health, vaccinations and medical history. Space Choose a pet according to your housing situation. As an example, big dogs may need more space than small cats. Check with the management of your building to see if they allow pets as some areas have restrictions. Care and Well-Being Know the procedures which should be taken after adopting a pet. Yearly vaccinations, microchipping, health certificates, regular groomings, pet's insurance, passports for travel, and regular medical check-ups. We recommend Zabeel Veterinary Clinic and Europets Veterinary Hospital. Diet Ask the adoption centre which food is suitable for your pet, how many times it should be fed and the portions necessary for a healthy lifestyle. Discipline Ask if your pet-to-be has been trained and have them show you what they have been taught. If it's a puppy make sure you ask if it's been house trained, otherwise you will have quite a bit of a mess to clean up on a regular basis.
Accessories If adopting a dog do buy them a collar and a leash for walks. In addition your pet will need a separate food bowl and water bowl so that they can eat and stay hydrated.

IMPULSE DXB F1 in Schools is the only global multi-disciplinary challenge in which teams of students aged 9 to 19 deploy CAD/CAM software to collaborate, design, analyze, manufacture, test, and race miniature compressed air powered balsa wood F1 cars. The challenge inspires students to use IT to learn about physics, aerodynamics, design, manufacture, branding, graphics, sponsorship, marketing, leadership/teamwork, media skills and financial strategy. Applying them in a practical, imaginative, competitive and exciting way. We had the opportunity to speak to Impulse DXB, a team of five students from the Repton School of Dubai. These young students are representing the U.A.E in the World Finals this October in Austin, Texas. Three words come to mind when describing these bright students: resourceful, passionate and determined. When asked what makes their team unique at the world final they said, “We all come from different ethnic backgrounds and are truly international and collaborative. We each have different types of skill sets that we brought together and have forged a bond that no other team can compare to and think of each other as far more than friends. It is also important to note they are currently the youngest team ever to represent the UAE and compete in the world finals. The team is also lead by Maryam Al Ketbi who is the Emirate’s first female national to lead a F1 School team.
Impulse DXB notes the biggest challenge has been to secure sponsors and to raise large amounts of funds to cover the travel expenses, while working on all completing all the necessary work deadlines over different time zones. Impulse DXB has managed to score companies such as Al Tayer Motors, Taste of Italy, Moorfields Eye Hospital, NSCC International, Burger Fuel and 3D Vinci! The team expects to perform well based on their previous track record, and prove the feasibility of their car theory and design despite heavy competition. The group also has an internal rivalry regarding their favourite drivers including; Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel and Nico Rosberg. The group urges students to participate in F1 for Schools as they feel it has personally benefitted them in so many ways .They have learnt real life experience in executing tasks such as building relationships with sponsors, managing project deadlines, understanding the value of time, relationships and managing their finances. ULTIMATE HYBRID CARS Global warming has a significant and harmful effect on our communities, our health, and our climate, hence scientists and engineers are trying to create a cleaner alternative for transportation, which resulted in what we now call a hybrid car. These cars use both, an internal combustion engine and an electric motor, which gives you greater fuel economy and results in lower gas emissions. Check out some of our favourites:
Audi A3 Sportback e-tron
The redesigned Audi A3 Sportback e-tron®1 isn’t your average hybrid. It’s a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) that combines the sportiness and luxury you expect from an Audi with the benefits of a hybrid. Coupled with the Audi energy program, which offers a home charger, carbon offset program through 3Degrees and available residential solar panel installation through a collaboration with SunPower®
fORD C-MAX
The C-MAX Hybrid is designed for fun-to-drive performance. It features power-split hybrid architecture, which allows the state-of-the-art, lithium-ion battery and gasoline-powered engine to work together or separately using the motor and generator. Next-generation SmartGauge® with EcoGuide and Brake Coach provide real-time information about your driving performance. Even slowing in C-MAX Hybrid is efficient, thanks to regenerative braking, which recovers more than ninety percent of this energy and sends it back to the battery to be stored for later use.

HONDA CR-Z
The CR-Z is an ambitious attempt at making a sporty hybrid, but its performance doesn’t match its adventurous styling. The good news is that it’s the only hybrid sold with a manual—a six-speed—but the bad news is that the combined output is a mere 130 hp. A 1.5-liter four-cylinder pairs with an electric motor; the EPA rates it for 36-mpg city/39-mpg highway with the optional CVT; the manual gets 31/38. Standard features include Bluetooth capability, automatic climate control, and cruise.
LEXUS CT
Get more miles of fun in the CT 200h, the most fuel-efficient gas-powered luxury vehicle. With a 42-MPG combined rating, bold interior, and exterior styling, and enhanced handling, you won’t just get more miles, you’ll get more out of every mile. The voiceactivated system provides detailed maps with 3-D city views as well as up-to-date traffic and weather.

Restaurant Review
Clinton Street Baking Company Breakfast is one of our favourite meals, so when we heard about Clinton Street Baking Company we decided to check it out. The restaurant is part of the bustling Downtown Dubai and the place looks like a charming little cafĂŠ at Lower East end of Manhattan. To start out we ordered the very popular Salted Caramel and Banana milkshakes which were thick, creamy and absolutley delicious. For mains, we ordered Eggs Benedict Florentine, which was amazingly flavourful throughout. We also had the classic Wild Maine Blueberry pancakes and generously drizzled them with maple syrup. Yum! Every meal needs a good finale. Desert! We went for the classic Carrot Cake, one of the most underrated dessert items on any menu. It was amazingly fresh, soft, crumbly, sweet, salty and spicy with a hint of orangey aftertaste. Can you tell that we loved it?

Eat Greek Kouzina Greek cuisine isn’t very prominent in the UAE restaurant scene so when Eat Greek Kouzina opened shop, our excitement was hard to contain. The dÊcor was rustic to compliment the comfortable ambiance created by Greek music and neutral colours. For starters, the server recommended the classic Greek salad and baked feta cheese, which was very flavourful and unlike any other appetizer we have ever had. For mains we ordered a chicken pita and a seafood risotto which brought out the true flavours of Greece. We absolutely loved the seafood risotto which was cooked to perfection. To finish off we ordered the most unusual tiramisu in mousse form which was a great balance between the coffee flavour and sweetness. We also asked for the Ferrero Roche, Nutella and banana crepe with almond ice cream, which was just as beautiful as it sounds. What a great end to a wonderful meal!

FIVE LIES YOUR HAIRSTYLIST WON'T ADMIT TO From expensive salon-quality hair care to frequent trims, these five common tips from hairstylists have little to no truth value. Avoid unnecessary trips to the salon and save money by ditching these lies once and for all. Discover the top five lies which your hairstylist wont admit to.
1 2
Trim Your Hair Every Four to Six Weeks The most common lie that stylists have convinced people to do. Most people do not need to make a trip to the salon every four weeks for a trim. The only time this would be advisable is if your hair is severely damaged, dry and brittle due to over usage of hot tools.
At-home colouring tools are the devil If your hairstylist has ever tried to convince you that at-home hair colouring kits should be avoided like the plague, you can be certain that this is simply not true. Most stylists say that hair colouring kits contain harmful chemicals. However, virtually all hair colour contains these components, including professional dye.
see it. scan it. get it.
3 4 5
Layers make your hair look fuller Many stylists try to convince clients that they need layers for added depth and volume. However, this typically only works on people with very thin hair and it must be done precisely in order to avoid gaps and flat roots. It is much easier to achieve more volume by using root lifters, texturising spray and other thickening products.
Drugstore products damage your hair If you have ever felt pressured to buy expensive salon-quality hair care products by your stylist, chances are that he or she convinced you that drugstore products are full of harmful ingredients. This lie is often used by salons as a sales tactic as they get a commission for each item they sell.
Three Times a Week If your hairstylist has warned you not to over wash your hair, you should know that this common piece of advice shouldn't be taken too seriously. If you have normal or oily hair, you can wash it more than three times a week if needed. However, use a gentle natural shampoo and conditioner to avoid drying out your locks.

WHAT'S GOING ON?
News
The Pound is having a Worse Year than Argentina's Peso The British pound has beaten Argentina's peso to a title nobody wants: the world's worst performing currency. The pound has plunged 14% against the U.S. dollar since the U.K. voted to leave the European Union on June 23. It's down about 12% since the start of the year and is trading at its lowest level since 1985. The super cheap pound is great news for foreign tourists coming to visit the U.K., but it's already making things more expensive for Brits. Prices of vacations and gadgets are already going up.
China to Build World's Deepest High-Speed Rail Station under Great Wall China will build the world’s deepest and largest high-speed railway station at a popular section of the country’s Great Wall as part of its preparations for the 2022 Winter Olympics, state media has reported. The new station will equal to five standard soccer fields, making it the deepest and largest high-speed railway station in the world. The railway ministry plans to invest $400bn (£248bn) to complete a 10,000-mile network by 2020.
Female CEOs are at Record Level in 2016, but it's still only 5% America hit a milestone in 2016: The most female CEOs ever. There are now 27 women at the helm of S&P 500 companies. The good news is it's a new record for women in business, according to S&P Global Market Intelligence. It's also 22% more - a big jump -- from last year, when only 22 women led S&P 500 companies.

The Most Trafficked Mammal in the World! There is a creature believed to be the most trafficked mammal in the world. No sounds come from its cage. No squeaks or howls. This awkward, introverted creature, which has been compared to a walking pinecone and an artichoke with legs, is thought to be the most trafficked mammal in the world. Pangolin scales are used in traditional Chinese or Vietnamese medicine, and its meat is seen as a rare and highly expensive delicacy. According to WildAid, 1 million Pangolins have been trafficked illegally in the last 15 years.
The World's Oldest Library gets a 21st-Century Facelift The Al-Qarawiyyin Library has long been a source of fascination for residents in Fez, Morocco, as few of them have ever passed through its doors. Opened in 859, it is thought to be the world's oldest library, and the maze of rooms was closed off to all but a few scholars and students of the university where it was housed. A new lab will be created to treat, preserve and digitize some of the oldest texts, which include a ninth-century Quran, written in Kufic (the oldest form of Arabic calligraphy) on camel skin. State-ofthe-art machinery can mend holes in ancient paper rolls, and prevent cracks in ancient scrolls.
This Tiny Creature can Survive Without Breathing for 17 Days Give it up for the northern Pseudoscorpion (Wyochernes asiaticus), a tiny arachnid with a big superpower: it can survive underwater for weeks at a time, seemingly without breathing. While other arachnids are known to survive submersion for a few hours or days at a time, nothing even comes close to this. Pseudoscorpions possess impossibly long pinchers relative to their bodies, seemingly without the counterbalance of a tail. They also do not have the scary stinger we are used to seeing on scorpions, hence the "Pseudo".
Got milk? Roach Milk could be a New Superfood! Many people don’t consider their breakfast complete without a glass of milk. But soon, people could be sipping milk from cockroaches. At least, that’s what an international group of scientists is proposing. The milk comes from the Pacific beetle cockroach, which are the only cockroach species that’s viviparous (Vy-VIP-er-us). That means it gives birth to live young. The cockroach mothers feed the babies growing inside them with a milk-like liquid. That milk contains the crystals, which are made of protein.
