flowing as an above average snow pack continues to melt. At present, however, flooding, which is a concern in other parts of the Okanagan Valley, has not been observed in Sum-

merland. Since March, the snow pack levels have been at or above the long-term average levels. At present, the level is 101 per cent of normal at Summerland Reservoir

and 110 per cent of normal at Isintok Lake. At Summerland Reservoir, a snow depth of 377 millimetres was recorded at the beginning of the month. This is the equiva-

lent of 129 millimetres of water. At Isintok Lake, the snow level was 436 millimetres or the equivalent of 150 millimetres of water. See NO Page 3

Watkins named Blossom Queen by Carla McLeod Special to the Review Summerland has a new royal court, with Susan Watkins as Blossom Queen and Alexa Brickenden and Cassidy Clements as princesses. Centre Stage Theatre was buzzing with tension and excitement on the weekend as eight young women took part in the 42nd annual Summerland Blossom Pageant May 4 and 5. Friday night the candidates gave their talent and speech presentations. Saturday night’s program included evening wear, impromptu questions, the award presentations and coronation. Watkins, the new Blossom Queen, talked about her reaction to winning. “Wow, I feel so honored and so surprised. I just hope I do the town proud. I’m so proud of all the candidates and so thankful for all the support.” She added that she hoped to see everyone out at all the events. She represented Zias Stonehouse in the pageant. Brickenden, who was Miss Summerland Skating Club, said, “I feel really happy. I’m so excited that I get to be a princess for the next year.” When asked what she thought the year would bring she replied, “A lot of travel. I think there is going to be a lot of good memories out of this, so I’m really looking forward to it.” Clements was Miss Summerland Legion in the competition. She said, “I’m so excited for the next year with Alexa and Susan and I’m so happy for this opportunity.” When asked if she was surprised that she had won she exclaimed, “Yes, I was absolutely amazed!” Lindsey Jenner, Miss Kiwanis, was named Carla McLeod Special to the Review Miss Congeniality and Michaella Haidenger, A new Blossom Queen Miss Rotary, was voted the People’s Choice.
