Home invasion suspect dead
RCMP have halted their search for a male suspect after a home invasion this weekend. Dec. 7 Quesnel RCMP requested the public to be vigilant in locking their doors and securing their homes after an unknown male broke into a residence in the 4000 block of Hixon Road and assaulted a female occupant early that morning. Dec. 8 at 9:51 a.m., the Quesnel RCMP responded to a report of a sudden death of a 32-year-old man in the 3100 block of Nazko Road in the Bouchie Lake area. RCMP said investigative efforts have now determined that these two files are connected. “Police have ruled out foul play in this sudden death, however, strong evidence suggests that the deceased male is responsible for the assault on Hixon Road which was reported the previous day,” the release states. Police are no longer seeking any other suspects and do not have any safety concerns for the public. The B.C. Coroner Service has been advised of the sudden death and RCMP will assist in the investigation. The Quesnel RCMP would like to thank the public for their cooperation with this investigation and for remaining vigilant during this time.
