Arrests made after brawl in local park FOR THE TOWNSMAN

Four people were arrested and five taken to hospital after a large fight on May 15. Police attended the fight at approximately 2:40 a.m. and found five individuals suffering from various injuries. All five were transported to the East Kootenay Regional Hospital for medical treatment. One of the victims suffered a significant head injury and remained in hospital however has since been released. Police found and seized a bat at the scene which is believed to have been used during this assault.

At last week’s meeting, Cranbrook city council approved a new flag policy that sets out guidelines for how flags are approved to fly over city hall. Mayor Lee Pratt explained the new policy at the May 11 meeting. “We have lots of people wanting to fly their flag — different groups and organizations — and we just can’t accommodate everybody,” Pratt explained. “How do you say no to this one, or yes to that one? So we just wanted to put a policy in place that settles that.”
