Whenconsumerstudieshaveshowncountless timesthattasteisthenumberonefactorin determiningifapersonpurchasesaproductornot itwouldbeagoodideaasanindustrytofocus onthat.Wegetsocaughtupontiki-tackstuff likesustainabilitywheninrealitytasteisfarmore importantindeterminingwhatapersonpurchases. Whatwe’redoingasanindustryisn’tworking,it’s beyondtimetoactuallyfocusonwhat’simportant, taste.
Thepositivestarttothecropoutlookbackin Mayhasdeterioratedacrossmuchoftheprairies. Projectionshadshownthatthiswasgoingtobe
thesecondlargestwheatcropinCanadianhistory, nowthatwillnotbethecase.TheU.S.Department ofAgriculturepeggedCanada’swheatproduction at35milliontonnesinitsJulyreport,downfive percentfromitsJuneestimatebecauseofreduced yields.45percentofAlberta’scropswererated goodtoexcellent,accordingtotheJuly14Alberta cropreportwhichisbelowthefive-yearaverageof 66percentandthe10-yearaverageof68percent. Thedroughtthathasbeenaffectingtheprairies thissummerhasnotbeenasdevastatingastheone facedin2021asofyetandhopefully,itimproves throughAugust.
Inothernews,CanadahasanewMinisterof Agriculture,LawrenceMacAulayreturnstothe jobafterbeingoutofitforfouryears.Hecan ylookingattheUnitedKingdom’s siontotheComprehensiveand ProgressiveAgreementforTransPacificPartnership(CPTPP)which willnotallowfairtradebetween Canada andtheUKinpork.The UKdoesnotacceptCanada’s foodsafetyandanimalhealth stemsandmeasures,andthose non-tariffbarrierslimitCanada’saccesstotheUK market.Thisdealisn’tfairtotheCanadianindustry andharmstherelationshipCanadahaswiththe UK.ThehopeisthisnewMinisterofAgriculturewill defendandchampiontheCanadianindustry.

Increasetheheattohigh,pourinChickenstockandbring totheboil,thencook,scrapingthebottomofthepanwith awoodenspoontocollectuptheflavours,for3-4minutes untilslightlyreduced.
Returnthemeatballstothepan withthecannedandcherry tomatoes,andbayleaves.Reducetheheattomedium-low, coverwithatight-fittinglidandcookfor20-25minutesuntil themeatballsarecookedthrough.Removefromtheheatand addasqueezeoflemonjuice.
