Not Your Usual Workout

As I walked into the Neighbor hood Barre studio located in the heart of Lake Nona, I was ready to tackle my inner ballerina—even if it was 6am! It felt peaceful, and not like the usual hustle and bustle of a gym where you are waiting for someone to walk away so you could sneak in your 3 sets.
With the feel of a yoga studio (which they do offer—keep reading) the workout will keep you burning and sweating before you even realize it. Yoga mats, dumbbells, weighted wristlets and stretch bands are ready for you to use in your own station—socially distanced of course! While part of the workout is done on mat, the core of the workout is done on the ballet bar. This is where you will “tuck…squeeze...drop...hold” to strengthen the whole body from your head to your tippy toes.
So why Lake Nona?
The owner of this charming studio, Elizabeth Diaz, opened Neighborhood Barre in July of this year. She wanted to bring her love of Barre to her new home. Hailing from Cincinnati, Ohio and having worked for the USTA, Elizabeth rekindled her passion for barre while on a work trip. Always wanting to open up a studio, Neighborhood Barre is the only one in Florida!
“The name says it all. Neighborhood Barre is a sense of community and that is what Lake Nona is all about— community!” says Elizabeth.
What better place to open up the first one?
Do they offer more than Barre Classes?
Yes, they do. The studio just opened up Power Yoga classes to all levels. There are also various Barre classes to choose from if you want to mix it up. Any level from novice to expert is welcome.
How is the studio ensuring safety in our new normal of COVID-19?
Every station is wiped, cleaned and sanitized. After each class, Elizabeth and her team of instructors place out new mats and equipment. Little baskets are close by for personal belongings—like your mask and phone. l
