• Maintain and/or develop comprehensive plans for the City of Weatherford, including land use and related plans, and coordinate with other departments in the development and maintenance of thoroughfare, parks, open space, and other plans.

Administers the effective and efficient planning, implementation, coordination and management of services provided to the citizens of the City by providing guidance and direction to assigned departments within the municipal government.

• Plans, coordinates, and directs the work of City Departments through delegation of authority and responsibility to Department Directors. Also evaluates the performance of Department Directors to ensure operational and administrative function and activities are carried out efficiently and effectively.

• Directs or participates in activities and special projects as assigned by the City Manager by defining the purpose of the project, establishing an action plan, gathering necessary information and resources, implementing the action plan, reporting progress to the City Manager in a timely manner, and completing the project or assignment in a timely and accurate manner.

• Attends regularly scheduled and special meetings and participates actively in discussion of matters coming before the City Council, provides relevant information, and recommends policies required in the public interest. Also represents the City in a variety of meetings and public functions involving other elected/appointed officials, civic and community service organizations, volunteer groups, and others.

• Coordinates activities with subordinate supervisors and other departmental personnel to ensure consistency in interpretation and implementation of applicable State laws, the City Charter, City Ordinances, policies, and procedures.

• Responds to inquiries regarding City activities and matters and resolves any problems or complaints. Maintains an effective working relationship with the general public through community relations and assists the public with questions regarding knowledge of policies, procedures, and other functions. Also meets personally with or receives phone calls from citizens who desire information or have complaints leading to investigations and ensuring adequate responses.

• Evaluates and advises long-range planning for new programs/strategies and regulatory action’s impact on the attraction, motivation, development, and retention of employees.

• Reviews annual expenditure requests with Department Directors and prepares and submits recommended annual budget and program of services to City Manager in accordance with applicable State laws and City Charter provisions.

• Performs other duties as required or assigned.
