to make a majority Are you the ONE?
Dear Friend, You may not realize it and you may not ever feel it but you have the potential to make a profound difference. You have the power to change the world. We all know what gets in the way…Life. Life itself can be overwhelming. There are every day obstacles and challenges that continue to remind us that we are fragile, insignificant and powerless. Giving too much attention or thought to any aspect of life can throw us into depression and confusion. We can become paralyzed by fear because there are too many unknowns, threats or risks. Faith is the opposite of fear. Fear pulls us down, sucks the life from us and makes us very weak and tired. Faith revitalizes our strength and renews our hope in God who then provides encouragement and empowerment to accomplish amazing things. Faith makes all things possible. Who is granted the kind of faith that moves mountains and splits Red Seas? Do we today have the power to be do something earth shattering? Let’s take a look at Gideon. Here is a guy who is hiding from Israel’s enemy in a winepress to do his wheat threshing job. An Angel of the Lord appeared to him and said, “The Lord is with you, you mighty man of valor.” Gideon immediately answered back, “…if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us?...” Gideon does not sound like he has too much faith especially when the Lord tells him to save Israel and he said, “How can I save Israel? Indeed my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.” God was not looking for Gideon’s ability but his availability. After many signs and confirmations, Gideon was available to save the Israelites from their enemy with no resources or military might. (see Judges 6) God uses the weak, hopeless, powerless and faithless to accomplish a mighty work. When looking at the characteristics that qualified Gideon, we all begin to believe that we qualify too. 2 Chronicles 16:9 says, “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him…” God is looking for someone who is willing to listen, answer and move ahead… • Moses turned to see the bush burning and then heard the Lord. Moses asked many questions and then moved ahead with God’s plan. • Samuel heard the Lord and answered quickly that he was available and willing to listen. • Daniel earnestly sought the Lord for the interpretation of a dream which led to understanding spiritually discerned messages with prophetic instruction that continues to impact us today. But how do we respond to the call of God? Through all the busyness, distraction, fear and negativity... how does anyone know or trust it is the will of God? We, at Daily Disciples, have struggled with the same thoughts, fears and doubts. We have found ourselves wrestling with the Lord to give us one more sign or one more word of encouragement. Sometimes signs came and sometimes they didn’t but all the time, if a sign did come… it was confirmed in the Word of God. We cannot continue too long without His Words speaking to us through His Word. Other signs of confirmation and encouragement have come in addition to His Word but not instead of it. God’s Word counteracts the fear and the desire to give up. It is God’s Word that commands you to move forward and encourages you that God’s empowerment is enough. You can push through any obstacle. You can be all that God wants you to be and you can receive all that He has for you. God is good for He has not given you a spirit of fear but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7). Time and time again, we tend to submit to the all familiar fear based thoughts and surrender to them instead of submitting ourselves to the Lord, resisting the devil and having him flee (in fear) from us. Bobbye had a dream the other night. She dreamt that an older woman was standing in her way of helping others. No matter how hard she tried to pass this woman, she blocked the way. When Bobbye became aware that this woman was preventing her from what God had asked her to do, the woman grabbed Bobbye’s arm with the strength of a powerful man. At that point, in her dream, Bobbye stopped looking around and stopped moving as she consciously planted her feet firmly in place, gazed directly into the old woman’s eyes and said, “There is nothing you can do to stop me because I have the power and I will do all that God wants me to do.” No resistance from hell or distraction on earth can stop the work of God in your life if you are willing to firmly plant your feet and speak truth. No matter how physical the spiritual realm may become, all things are possible when we hold His ways higher than our own. It only takes one. What life changing adventure is waiting for you? What is God calling you to do? You have what it takes to do something amazing…you have the presence and power of God available to you for whatever task God sets in front of you. But do you hear Him? Will you respond? It only takes One. He only needs One: One person’s hands to touch others with Christ, one person’s eyes to look with compassion into the eyes of another. And we believe that God wants to use our feet to walk people out of their own personal prison to get on the path of abundant life. God wants to bless others but we need to not only be told but to be shown the way. From radio shows, conferences, Bible studies, webcasts, retreats, outreaches, prayer meetings and so much more, Daily Disciples Ministries is continuing to spread the good news but we need others, like you, to help to get the Word out. Peace
ANGER is an emotion. The physical manifestations of anger include an increased heart rate and elevated blood pressure. Although anger in itself is not wrong, the outbursts of anger is called wrath and listed as one of the seven deadly sins. Let’s explore the real answer in handling anger: self control, joy and peace. ANXIETY is debilitating and destructive. It thrives off of fear and is never satisfied. When anxious, we lose our ability to discern and it frequently leads to cycles of depression. Let’s talk honestly and openly to help each other find hope, encouragement and renewed faith. ABUSE is the improper treatment of another through words, actions and destructive behaviors. Abuse is no respecter of age or time as it continues to take from its victims for years after. Characteristics are emotional destruction, fear, bondage, insecurity and sometimes death. Let’s talk about some real answers: Health, wholeness and love
ADDICTION murders its victims. It may refer to substance (alcohol, tobacco, drugs) or to behaviors (gambling, food, pornography, September 20 - October 18 work). Symptoms associated with addiction begin with guilt, Mondays: 7pm - 8:30pm shame, fear leading to failure, rejection and isolation.
