Unique beehive up for bids Continued from page 1 As part of its Relay for Life efforts, the Taylor Pass Honey team is holding a quiz night and auction on Thursday March 2 at the Fairhall Golf Club, with all proceeds to go to the Cancer Society. The company is putting up a prize for the auction of a beehive, complete with queen and bees, and all the gear, including a suit and smoker, as well as a beekeeper to visit the winner every eight weeks to look after the hive and train the winner in beekeeping.

Apprentice beekeeper Sam Lawrence is part of the Relay for Life team and she is painting the boxes making up the beehive prize with some incredible intricate art. She has been working for Taylor Pass Honey for the past two months. Beekeeping appeals to her, she says, because of the way the bees organise themselves and all work together. “I like being outside with them and seeing them forage.” Sam says she has ‘been doing art all my life’ and is painting the boxes in acrylic

paint as that works better with the wood. “It’s good, something different, I like it.” A former Marlborough Girls’ College student, she says she’s trying to remember some of the tips she learnt from her school art teacher, Mr Fleming. The company became aware of Sam’s artistic talents because of her habit of doodling. “I was doodling on everything. They asked who it was, and they caught me at it one day.”

Govt takes action on contractors By Cathie Bell The Government is prosecuting three vineyard contractors with the Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment’s Labour Inspectorate taking them to the Employment Relations Authority for breaching minimum employment standards. Another two contractors were issued with improvement notices ordering them to step up their practice as employers, with one of them receiving an infringement notice for $3000. Three of the contractors were found to have no issues, and one contractor remains under investigation. The charges relate to an investigation last year, where the inspectorate said in August that 10 independent vineyard contractors were investigated and nine were found to have issues, two breaching minimum standards and another seven asked to supply more records. A ministry spokesman says because the investigation is still continuing and the authority has yet to hear the three cases, it will not name those contractors involved. Labour Inspectorate regional manager Kevin Finnegan says the Labour Inspectorate takes minimum employment standards very seriously. It’s ‘simply not acceptable’ for employers to fail to keep written records, supply written employment contracts, calculate holiday pay correctly, or pay at least a minimum wage, he says. “These are the absolute basics of being an employer in New Zealand, and it’s been disappointing to see the viticulture industry miss the mark when it comes to meeting their obligations. “The viticulture industry needs to work together to ensure they are regarded as ethical employers, and that New Zealand continues to be considered a fair and equitable place to work and do business.”

College application Richmond View School has applied to teach intermediate and secondary school pupils, and is awaiting approval from the Education Ministry, which is consulting about it now. The Christian integrated school has 145 pupils, and would like to increase to 345 students from 5-year-olds to 18-year-olds.

Cricket game moved Heavy rain has filled Lake Elterwater, and the proposed Town and Country cricket game tomorrow will now be held on a cattle paddock nearby on the Hickman farm. Entry is free but a gold coin donation for Ward Primary School and Red Cross will be accepted.

Pasifika room open Saturday Totaranui 250 trustees Ivan Sutherland, Rose Prendeville, Raymond Smith, Marnie Campbell, John Hellstrom, John Mitchell, Peter Jerram, Bev Doole, Cressida Bishop, and Cheryl Wadworth. Ian Mitchell, Liz McElhinney, Kiley Nepia, Shelley Sidey and Dean Heiford were absent.

Legacy from Cook visits By Cathie Bell The events to commemorate 250 years since Captain James Cook landed in Ship’s Cove in Queen Charlotte Sound offer a significant opportunity to remember the first meetings between Maori and Europeans and our shared future, the trustees in the Totaranui 250 Trust say. At a public meeting in Picton on Wednesday night, co-chairman Raymond Smith says attending the February 6 national day events at Waitangi this year for the first time gave him a sense of what the trust could achieve in Marlborough. “I learned from going to Waitangi how huge and co-ordinated it is - all for the strategic purpose of nation-building. It is really great.” The trust held a public meeting in Picton on Wednesday night to

introduce trustees to the community and to start getting ideas from the public on what they would like to see happen in Marlborough as part of the commemorations. The Government is funding a fleet of vessels, including a Pacific waka and the Endeavour replica, to visit Cook’s New Zealand landing sites, including Ship’s Cove, and it will also fund a ‘national opening event’ in Gisborne on September 2019. Ministry for Culture and Heritage manager of heritage operations David Butts says it is not yet confirmed what funding will be available for other events. Totaranui 250 co-chairman John Hellstrom says Marlborough’s events will be different from the rest of the country, because Cook spent so long at Ship’s Cove with

different ships over seven years. About three-quarters of his time in New Zealand was spent in Marlborough, and Ship’s Cove was his favourite place in the Pacific. Interactions with local iwi were also more significant and positive than in many other places. “For us, it’s not a week’s interactions. We’re looking at seven years of continuing contact, the interactions that happened during those years between the crews of different ships Cook brought here.” The trust is keen to see legacy projects with lasting impact on the community come out of the commemorations, John says. The trust’s tagline is ‘dual heritage, shared futures’. “Everyone involved in this pro-

ject is committed to that kaupapa (protocol).” Trustee John Mitchell says he hopes the commemorations will see the Maori participants in the first encounters 250 years ago receive as much recognition in the history books and the community as the European ones. “We know about Banks, Solander, Furneaux, Pickersgill, Parkinson, Hodges, Webber, Rowe… equally, we should know about Tapaia, Te Rangihouia, Taiaroa, Te Koaa, Matahouah, Te Wehirua…. We want to bring them into the brighter light of day.” The trust has five workstreams – voyaging; arts, culture, and heritage; education; environmental restoration; tourism; and sponsorship and funding.

A story in Wednesday’s The Sun says the opening of the new Pasifika playgroup room in the Redwoodtown Plunket building will be on Sunday. The official opening is actually on Saturday at 11am. We apologise for the error.

NIA Dance Tuesday A story in Wednesday’s The Sun says the NIA Dance classes by Corinne McBride are Thursdays in Redwoodtown. The classes are Tuesday at the Redwoodtown Community Hall from 6pm until 7pm, and on Wednesdays at 207 Oakwood Lane from 5.30pm until 6.30pm. All are welcome. We apologise for the error.

Paua ban extended The Government has extended the ban on taking shellfish and seaweed, excluding scampi and rock lobster, along the earthquake-affected area of the east coast of the South Island for a further nine months. Minister for Primary Industries Nathan Guy says more than 20 per cent of adult paua habitat covering 94 hectares has been lost due to uplift. The area where juvenile paua live has been impacted to an even greater degree.

Subsidy certainty needed Green MP Steffan Browning says the Government needs to give certainty to the 456 Marlborough, Kaikoura, and Hurunui businesses who are still receiving support after the November Kaikoura earthquake on the future levels of support. The money will dry up in two weeks, and the Government is refusing to answer questions about whether they will extend the wage subsidy being paid to businesses that can’t operate due to earthquake damage. People need to know that the Government has their back, and is being decisive about their next steps. If the Government is serious about ensuring businesses make it through the quakes, they need to extend the wage subsidy again.

Town gets promoter By Cathie Bell New Blenheim Business Association coordinator Caroline Stone has a ‘raft of ideas’ to promote the Blenheim central business district. Key among those is linking the town with the wider region, she says. “There seems to be a lot of things going on in the region that aren’t necessarily reflected in the central business district. “The amount of visitors we get on these occasions, we could really do a lot in the CBD to showcase that and encourage them to come back. “For locals, it’s nice to have a vibrant hub that encourages you to come in, spend some time, wander around.” Caroline would like to see more events in town itself, and for the central business district to ‘piggyback off’ some of the bigger events happening outside the CBD. Another idea is to build a ‘Marlborough Mile’ with displays highlighting the district’s history and features, and to beautify the town’s ‘industrial’ entrances. “If you come into the town, you might not know what Blenheim’s known for.”

Caroline Stone, Blenheim Business Association’s new co-ordinator.

Graham Smith and Colin King with the mussel man statue.

By Colin King “Putting the muscle back into Marlborough.” Once Havelock’s new main street café is opened, this two metre-high green lip mussel will certainly be an attraction to visitors and tourists alike. The Green Lip Mussel is the brain child of the café’s owner Graham Smith, and it is due to be officially unveiled once the café opens. Twelve months ago Graeme and Sharyn Smith’s café burnt down, leaving nothing more than charred remains. Determined to put that behind them they are now well on the way to replacing the charred remains of

their old café with that of a new and better building. “This is all about what the green lip mussel means to Marlborough’s economy and especially to the town of Havelock”, says Graham. Graham Smith has been working hard to promote Havelock and the green lip Mussel for years. Next month, on March 18, Havelock is due hold its annual mussel festival again for the twelfth time. “It will be an exciting day for Havelock when we unveil our beautiful Green Lip Mussel, he is such a handsome chap”, says Graham. Perhaps they will call it “Graham the Green Lip Mussel” – who knows, only time will tell.

COUNCIL NEWS

Projects underway in Picton

Deane Goldsack (Pastor, Salvation Army, Blenheim) gratefully receives donations from Lyne Reeves (Marlborough District Council Welfare Recovery) handing out Countdown donated goods for earthquake affected communities.

Supermarket goods from earthquake-stranded train distributed 30 pallets of supermarket goods that had been stranded on a train during the Kaikoura Earthquake have been distributed to community groups throughout Marlborough. The Food Bank, Bread of Life, SPCA, Crossroads, Maori service providers and Marlborough Women’s Refuge were among organisations that received the non-perishable goods, which had been destined for Countdown supermarkets

when the Kaikoura Earthquake hit. Countdown donated the containerload to Kaikoura District Council, which forwarded 30 pallets to Marlborough District Council. MDC Community Development Officer Lyne Reeves said the huge task of unloading and distributing the goods had been made much easier by the help of volunteers and the support of Putake Honey, which had provided storage facilities and equipment.

Grass fires move fast

A Total Fire Ban is in place for much of Marlborough Marlborough Kaikoura Rural Fire Authority principal fire officer Richard McNamara says the Christchurch fires are a horrifying illustration of the speed that a rural fire can travel in hot, dry weather. “It’s a shocking reminder of how quickly a fire can take grip over a big area when conditions allow,” said Mr McNamara, who was called in to assist with the Port Hills fire. Mr McNamara urged Marlborough residents to think carefully about the conditions here and take extreme care; grass fires spread very quickly

– burning at a pace of 25km an hour when it’s hot, dry and windy with plenty of fuel in their path, he said. Mr McNamara said a big event draws on firefighting resources everywhere so it was more important than ever for Marlborough to be vigilant at this time. The fire chief said in summer it was all too easy to start a grass fire accidentally by a spark from machinery such as a chainsaw, tractor or lawnmower. At any time of the year – take extra care with fire.

Look out for Tall Wheat Grass If you live in the Riverlands area, keep an eye out for Tall Wheat Grass (Thinopyrum ponticum). It’s a major pest threat and currently found only in the lower Opoa at the eastern end of Dillons Point Road. Tall Wheat Grass is perennial, growing 1.5m to 2m high. Its leaves are green-bluish with blades flat to curling, 2mm to 8mm wide. The leaves are coarse and scratchy to the touch. The seed head spike is up to 400mm long, and looks similar to Rye Grass. Tall Wheat Grass produces seed after flowering in January, later than most grass species. If you think you may have Tall Wheat Grass on your property, please contact Senior Biosecurty Officer Rob Simons: Ph 520 7400.

Picton is getting more sports facilities at Endeavour Park. The latest development at the park means there will be two new netball courts ready for the coming winter season and two new tennis courts for summer. The ground is being prepared now so courts can be laid and lighting and fencing installed. It’s a $160,000 project, two thirds funded by Council with the Endeavour Park Pavilion Committee meeting the balance.

The first ceiling support is up as the new Picton Library begins to take shape in the town’s High Street. The project is scheduled to be completed by September this year. The new building will be more than double the space of the old library and service centre and will include a mezzanine floor and communal meeting space. Karamu – coprosma robusta – a tough native plant with glossy green leaves and an orange berry will be a design feature in the façade of the new building.

Positive Ageing - A good sport Judy Shanahan is an inspirational example of the way that exercise helps to maintain physical and mental fitness and health. At aged 74, she is still on the tennis court, coaching players aged from four to 40. Born here in Marlborough, Judy has been playing tennis and coaching for more than four decades. A NZ representative player ranked Number 1 in the Veterans for singles and doubles, she is a member of the board

of New Zealand Tennis and has just been made a life member of Marlborough Tennis. Judy counts as a highlight her meeting and hosting of tennis great, Martina Navratilova. While her great love is tennis, Judy also enjoys playing golf, gardening, doing word puzzles and taking an interest in people, world and local events. Judy is in no doubt that keeping active, both physically and mentally, is the recipe for a happy fulfilled life.

Cadbury I think we should all boycott Cadbury’s products, 350 odd people will lose their jobs in Dunedin, it’s about MONEY AND PROFIT. If their products stop selling, it might wake them up out of greed!! So many families will be affected.

Chained dog Regarding chained dog in Spring Creek. The SPCA were called but unless it looks starved or in bad condition they can’t/won’t do anything. It looks well fed. Just always chained up. In plain view if people look.

Be fair Just because its EQC tradespeople do a fair job for fair pay. We all pay in the end. No one wins and is more than likely the honest people are out of pocket.

Rarangi - Friday Feb 17 Why do your children play and ride bikes on the usual quiet roads, all roads are not safe for children to be doing this. It’s the parents responsibility to keep their child safe playing and biking on roads isn’t it? What’s wrong with the backyard. Not always drivers in the wrong. They’re your children.

Would like to thank the lovely blonde chick who works the night shift at BP. She always has a smile no matter how ugly a customer gets...awesome customer service.

Dog barking - Friday Feb 18 Get a grip, I listen to my neighbours’ dogs all around me at the weekends. Do I complain NO or call dog control NO. Get a life and stop complaining. If you want a quiet life go live miles away in the bush then you’ll have no noise of any kind.

Good on Gerry Brownlee. Sorting out the fires in Christchurch. If the earthquake sorting is anything to go by the fires will still be burning in six years’ time.

Gas guns New bus sponsor Perfect match, benefitting 100% from Blenheim folks, members in politics and council. Chance for promotional graphics all over the bus, all for a few cents for every wine bottle filled annually. Yep, time for Marlborough wine growers to support the community, with tax rebates of course. The new meaning to a ‘Booze Bus’! Less cost than buying a new Maserati, but we all can enjoy and benefit. Oui, oui!

Finish Softball area MDC how can you start on netball when softball is still waiting to be finished? Still no changing rooms and still has port-a-loos and nowhere for wheelchairs to get into the park. Not a good look.

Blemish sounds. The warmth of the summer day, the cicada making mating noises, some spent years underground in hibernation, birds singing as the day dawns and cools, and yep the free for all Marlborough 2017 Alarm Festival begins-the bird scarers have started! You’re welcome, I was at Oliver Park with my hubby and kids when I saw your daughter fall off the flying fox. From one mum to another it was the right thing to do to make sure she got home safe. Sorry to hear she got concussion, hope she is better now.

I see that the Marlborough District Council is making substantial profits from its forestry investments. Perhaps that explains why they won’t stop logging trucks from using residential streets in Renwick. Clearly they are more interested in making a profit than the wellbeing of its ratepayers.

Picton Policeman honoured By Glenise Dreaver Each year, the Picton Volunteer Fire Brigade presents a stand-out individual or group who supports their work with the Jimmy Topp memorial trophy, and this week, chief fire officer Wayne Wytenburg presented Senior Constable Tim Goodyer of the Picton police with a certificate and the historic brass helmet trophy to hold for a year. Wayne said Tim was selected by a unanimous vote of brigade members. The immediate driver for his selection had been the Kaikoura earthquake. Tim played a lead role in working with the brigade and other emergency services on November 14, he says. “It showed that in a disaster we are on our own. But we came together as a team when it really mattered.” Tim’s service to this area began in 2004, after his first six years on the job in Blenheim. Before that he had fished out of Kaikoura. He left the Picton force twice, in 2007 seconded to East Timor during their elections and in Blenheim for two years with the police community response group.

How do you want to be remembered? A little bit crazy and eccentric, fun and loving, great cook and a great friend. Who would you love to share a meal with and why? Richard Branson, he is an amazing entrepreneur with a zest for life. What is the one thing people don’t know about you? I love shoes, have over 50 pairs at home!

Gardens are enhanced by great looking lawns. Likely you have noticed that after mowing your lawns your gardens look much better. Autumn is the best time to sow a new lawn as the autumn rains and cooler temperatures make it easier for the grasses to establish. The first thing to do is to determine what the soil is like in the area to be sown. Light, sandy soils need good friable top soil and compost mixed through the soil. Heavier clay type soils need to be opened up by using ample Gypsum, top soil and sand, incorporated. Gardeners that are blessed with nice friable soil need only incorporate more compost into it. Kill off whatever is growing in the area to be sown and then rotary hoe to a depth of at least 250mm. Then place a layer of the materials you are going to add to the area (about 4 to 6 cm thick) and rotary hoe them in. Now we water the area regularly to germinate the weed seeds that are going to be present. Once these weeds are up they can then be killed off. A further layer of material may then be applied to the area and rotary hoed in also. Water, and allow the weeds to germinate so you can kill them off while young. We are trying to establish an area of friable soil to a depth of about 250mm that is free draining with ample humus for moisture retention. Once again water to germinate any other weed seeds. The above will be done over several weeks which should take us into autumn and the time to sow your new lawn. The quality of lawn seed you buy will determine the end result so no cheap lawn seed. Super Strike lawn seed is one I can recommend as it comprises of only fine turf grasses and no brown top seed. Do not sow a mix with brown top in it as the brown top is a grass that gives you thatch problems and looks out of place in a fine rye and fescue mix.

For those gardeners that have a reasonable lawn which is prone to weeds and is not as thick a mat as you would like, then you can use another method for improving your existing lawn. It is too early to start this, but when the soil becomes moist with autumn rains, hire a scarifier and run that over your lawn, north/south, east/west. This rips up the thatch and makes grooves in the moist soil. You then spread a top quality lawn seed and gently water it into the grooves. This will greatly improve your lawn, thickening up the grasses, making it difficult for weeds to establish and creating a carpet of green. For those gardeners that do have a great lawn there is a reasonable amount of work needed to keep it nice. Never mow more than one third off the height of the lawn in any one mowing. Also mow so that the height of the grasses are between 25 to 50 mm tall. Mowing lower weakens grasses and allows weed establishment. Never use lawn fertiliser on the lawn It is quick and nasty and only gives the lawn a boost and then nothing. Only use a slow release lawn fertiliser and preferably a natural one such as Bio-Boost. You can apply the following products to advantage, soft garden lime, dolomite, gypsum, diluted liquid animal manures, Magic Botanic Liquid, Perkfection and Ocean Solids as a liquid feed or spray.

Earthquake causes tourism spending dip

The Redwoodtown School Oscars group has been making flowers for Children's Day.

Flowers bloom for Children’s Day By Cathie Bell The children who attend the Redwoodtown School Oscars’ after-school care group have been busy making flowers in the build-up to next month’s Children’s Day. Children’s Day is Sunday March 5, and the theme for this year’s Children’s Day

is ‘Love grows like flowers’. Supervisor Stacey Brown says the group usually has about 25 children from five schools attend. For the past two weeks, the children have been working on a flower project, making a variety of flowers to support Children’s Day and Oscars

involvement in it. Marlborough is holding a family activity day on March 5 from 10am until 1pm at Brayshaw Park, with lots of free activities for children, their families, and caregivers.

Weather map group’s goal By Glenise Dreaver ‘Putting Picton on the map’ is the first aim of the eight-strong steering committee formed at the Picton Marlborough Sounds Tourism Summit at the Picton Yacht Club hotel on Thursday morning. The map, says interim chair Margaret McHugh, is the daily television weather map, which would immediately raise the town’s profile nationwide.

That was just a first action for the group, which is supported by Auckland-based marketing consultant Rob Davis, who volunteered his services. The group is Janice Colville, Vicki Maitland, Helen Neighbour-Cone, Trish Hourigan, Jo McDonald, Sarah Twisleton, John Reuhman, and Margaret. Two Marlborough District councillors Jamie Arbuckle and Laressa Shenfield at-

tended and offered advice and support. Three groups of eight workshopped a number of ideas for the group, formed in June last year, to carry forward. There had been 35 apologies for the day-time meeting, Margaret says, who volunteered to continue as an interim chair while pointing out however that there was a need for new faces and younger people to work for the future of this area.

C R O S S W O R D Puzzle CROSSWORD

By Cathie Bell The 7.8 magnitude earthquake last November has caused tourism spending in Marlborough to dip slightly in January, but the spend over the year to January is up five percent, according to government figures. The latest Monthly Regional Tourism Estimates, released by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment this week, shows that tourism spend for Marlborough is estimated to be $375 million for the year to January 2017, up five per cent compared with the year to January 2016. Ministry manager of sector trends Peter Ellis says that of this tourism spend in the year to January 2017, international visitors spent $139 million, up 12 per cent compared with the year to January 2016, and domestic tourists spent $236 million, up one per cent, in that period. “When it comes to the monthly expenditure, tourism spend in Marlborough for the month of January 2017 is down one per cent compared with the month of January 2016,” Peter says. He says the earthquake last November made a significant impact on the total spend locally in North Canterbury, which includes Kaikoura and Hurunui Districts.

The curious case of Ross Taylor It is a shambles to think Ross Taylor isn’t an automatic selection for the Black Caps regardless of the format. His exclusion from the Twenty20 game against South Africa on Friday was a huge mistake. Not only because New Zealand suffered a humiliating loss but because the tour is so vital and momentum in the first match all went to South Africa. Taylor is arguably in some of the best form of his career. Centuries against Bangladesh

and Australia in recent months prove that. There still seems to be some uneasiness with the former captain and the powers that be at New Zealand Cricket. At a time where the national team is rebuilding, under a new leader in Kane Williamson, the experience of Taylor in the pivotal No 4 position is more important than ever. Besides, it’s not like there is a better option going around. Colin Munro has been appall-

ing, Corey Anderson has barely contributed of late, and the same could be said for Jimmy Neesham. If there are political currents against Taylor, then these must be put aside for the sake of the team. He’s still one of our top two batsmen and is on the cusp of equaling his late mentor Martin Crowe’s test century haul of 17. He’s earned the right to equal and eclipse that record and ensure he leaves the game as New Zealand’s most prolific batsman.

Muddy Buddy Havelock

With ... Jacob Page

Muddy Buddy is on this weekend at the Havelock estuary. Saturday’s race starts with registrations at 1pm and the race itself starts at 2.30pm.

Cycling results Dave Hutchison won the Anderson Rosebowl for the open grade and Katie Batt claimed the Keighley Cup for the junior under-17 grade during racing at Cuddon Cycling Marlborough’s event at Fairhall last Saturday. The course covered five laps of the Ben Morven circuit with favourable riding.

Craig breezes through town By Cathie Bell There was no time to waste when endurance cyclist Craig Harper made it to his hometown during his attempt to become the fastest person to cycle the length of New Zealand. He had a quick stop in Springlands to see supporters, including his daughters Brook and Hannah and his parents, before getting on the bike again and taking off towards Hanmer. “I’m absolutely lost for words,” he told the crowd. “I just need to keep going.” He began his attempt at the record, which stands at 4 days 17 hours and 40 minutes, when he left Cape Reinga at 8am on Monday. Craig is a respected Marlborough endurance cyclist and former New Zealand rower. The record attempt is also raising funds for the Kiwi Can programme in Marlborough, run by the Graeme Dingle Foundation Marlborough.

Skate competition The Blenheim Skateboarding Club is holding a street and bowl jam at the Blenheim Skate Park on Sunday from 3pm until 6pm.

Craig Harper makes a brief stop at Westwood to thank family and supporters on Wednesday during his cycle trip from Cape Reinga to Bluff.

Lansdowne Park redevelopment on track The Lansdowne Park redevelopment is progressing on schedule and on budget, Marlborough deputy mayor Terry Sloan says. The base of the Blenheim sport park’s 15 new netball courts has now been established and the courts are expected to be completed in time for the new season, he says. The Marlborough District Council is building the new netball courts to replace the ageing courts at Horton Park as part

of the wider redevelopment of Lansdowne Park. “Progress at Lansdowne Park is moving along as planned and on budget,” Terry says. “The crews which are working on this stage of the project - who are all from local Marlborough companies - are doing a fantastic job.” Marlborough Netball Association Chairwoman Beth Tester said it was very exciting to be able to see the new courts, which are

‘looking fantastic’, and visualise the final result. “We’re anticipating that they’ll be ready and handed over to us in April, in time for the new season. Our staff have already relocated to Lansdowne Park and are seeing the daily progress.” In other areas of the park currently under construction, electrical cables for the new lights were being laid, and new pipes had

been placed for the upgraded stormwater system, Terry says. The new car parks were also being prepared for sealing in the coming weeks. This stage of the project will cost $3.6M which includes $1.5M for the netball courts and $130,000 for the formation and sealing of new and existing car parks. The rest is for installing new lights and transformers, a new stormwater system and the demolition of the Jim Fraser Centre.
