Save the Oaks

By Aimee O’Hagan If $160,000 can’t be raised by the end of March, 70 majestic oak trees lining the entrance to the historic Lake Timara Lodge may be felled. For years the lodge has hosted many events, such as cocktail parties, weddings, and even Garden Marlborough garden parties. Complete with a man-made lake and luscious, green grounds, the property is over 130 years old. According to Grant Baxter from Bayleys Marlborough, the stunning trees lining the entrance to the lodge at the end of Dog Point Road are one of the most important parts of the property. “The oak trees are the first thing that visitors see,” he says.
