Virus impacts events

The effects of the Government’s new restrictions around travel and mass gatherings are now being felt throughout Marlborough.

Residents have raced to get home in time for Sunday’s travel deadline and local event organisers have had to postpone their plans.

Over the last two days some hard decisions have had to be made around public events which were set to be held in the region, some of which were to bring in overseas competitors.

The Whitehaven GrapeRide which had entries from Canada, the United Kingdom, United States, Japan and Australia has been rescheduled to next year.

When asked how he felt about the decision to reschedule, race director Duncan Mackenzie says; “I’m disappointed but I’m sure the disappointment will be temporary and it’s more important that we play our part in limiting the spread of the COVID-19 virus within our country, there will be another day to ride our bikes”.

The Flaxbourne A&P Show and Havelock Muddy Buddy events which were scheduled for this weekend have been postponed, as well as the local primary schools Swimming Sports event on Friday.

The Marlborough District Brass Band has postponed its James Morrison concert until next year, while the Feast Marlborough events in April and May were also postponed.

The local tourism industry is continuing to take a hit as the Government’s decision to temporarily ban cruise ships from coming to New Zealand has prompted Port Marlborough to announce that all cruise bookings to Picton have been cancelled for the rest of the season.

All other international shipping (such as log ships) are subject to additional heightened border security measures.

These measures include enhanced pre-arrival procedures and quarantine provisions.

There have been no issues with any crew or vessel to date and we are constantly monitoring this, Rhys Welbourn, CEO Port Marlborough says.

“We have been working with the Ministry of Health, Maritime NZ, Nelson Marlborough DHB, MDC and customers for some time, and will continue to ensure border controls are appropriate

and the risk of spread of COVID-19 is minimised.

“Please be assured our priority is the health and well-being of our staff, customers and community.”

Fortunately for Marlborough there are no cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) but for those who arrived after midnight on Sunday, the 14 day self-isolation rules apply.

One local couple who have asked not to be named, managed to get home just in the nick of time after arranging an earlier flight from Australia.

They were part of a tour group going to Melbourne for the weekend’s season-opening Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix.

Before the couple had even landed in Melbourne they were advised the event had been cancelled.

“We had to reschedule and bring our return flights forward to Sunday night,” they say.

Asked what the general feeling was amongst people in Melbourne, they say there was barely any hint that Coronavirus was worrying the locals.

“Some were wearing masks and others had their hand sanitisers but people were still out and enjoying themselves.

“We had originally decided to fly back Monday morning but when we found out about the travel restrictions, like everyone else, we had to get hold of our travel agent to get them to organise earlier flights.

“Luckily Air NZ moved the flights back an hour so that we could be back in time for the deadline,” they say.

On the plane coming home they say the travel restrictions were a popular topic.

Boeing Boeing show cancelled Marlborough Repertory Society’s production of Boeing Boeing, which was set to be performed at the Boathouse Theatre from March 25 to April 4, has been cancelled due to the threat of COVID-19. Those who had already booked tickets can go to the ASB Theatre box office and get a full refund. The cast and crew are sad about the decision but hope to finally perform the play sometime in the future.

Workers from all over the globe are flocking to Marlborough to take part in the region’s 2020 harvest.

One of these workers is Annabelle Fawcett, who is returning to Marlborough for her second harvest.

Annabelle is from York, England. She studied Politics and International Relations at University of Sheffield.

After graduating, Annabelle travelled for a bit.

As her father had previously worked in Marlborough, Annabelle decided to follow in his footsteps.

She arrived in Marlborough and started working for Hunter’s Wines, where she was “taken under [their] wing.”

“It was my first harvest,” says Annabelle.

“Everyone was so helpful.”

“It was like nothing I’ve ever done. I really enjoyed it” Annabelle enjoyed working for Hunter’s Wines so much that she’s returned to work for them a second time.

She likes that she works for “one of the original family businesses in Marlborough.”

As for the future? Annabelle wants to continue working in the industry.

“I definitely want to do something in the wine industry.

“What that is, I’m not sure yet.”

Annabelle’s advice for new harvest workers is to “embrace it, ask lots of questions.”

“Questions are the only way you learn.

Ask the wine makers questions. Everyone started in the same position.”

Road work on the Kaikoura Coast has been stopped by iwi protesters.

Due to road work disrupting sacred sites such as a Maori cemetery, protesters have been occupying Mangamaunu since February 2.

On Tuesday, March 10 Tangata Whenua invited authorities to a meeting at the Mangamaunu cemetery, where the occupiers explained the importance of the land. They were told that the NCTIR would stop all work in the area.

Govt announces $12.1 billion package to support jobs The Coalition Government has launched the most significant peace-time economic plan in modern New Zealand history to cushion the impact of COVID-19 in the fight to support Kiwis’ jobs and the domestic economy from the virus.

Finance Minister, Grant Robertson, yesterday outlined a $12.1 billion package to support NZers and their jobs from the global impact of COVID-19.

The package is one of the largest in the world on a per

capita basis, and aims to soften the blow of COVID-19’s economic impact on New Zealand’s economy.

“Our first priority is the health and wellbeing of our people.

The global spread of the virus has also disrupted economies across the world costing the jobs and livelihoods of countless families,” he says. “We don’t yet know what the full impact on NZ’s economy will be, however we do know it will cost us jobs and have a significant impact on

business.

“We are moving quickly to help people stay in work and reduce the blow for business,” Grant Robertson says.

The $12.1 billion package includes: • Initial $500 million boost for health • $5.1 billion in wage subsidies for affected businesses in all sectors and regions, available from today • $126 million in COVID-19 leave and self-isolation support

• $2.8 billion income support package for our most vulnerable, including a permanent $25 per week benefit increase and a doubling of the Winter Energy Payment for 2020 • $100 million redeployment package • $2.8 billion in business tax changes to free up cashflow, including a provisional tax threshold lift, the reinstatement of building depreciation and writing off interest on the late payment of tax

• $600 million initial aviation support package “I want to make it clear that this is not a one-off package, it is just the beginning. As we go through this crisis towards economic recovery the Government will be constantly monitoring the situation and adjusting its response.

“As with every action we have taken we will be constantly reviewing every measure to ensure it is getting to the people and businesses that need it the most,” Grant says.

The Pelorus Area Health Trust made a donation of $3000 to the Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter at the Mussel Festival in Havelock last Saturday.

The volunteers at the Havelock Charity Shop have had a very busy summer, which has meant that funds are available to PAHT to donate to local organisations who contribute to the health and wellbeing of the Pelorus community The Rescue Helicopter also had a busy summer, unfortunately, so welcomed the substantial donation.

Paula Muddle, the general manager for Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter and was very grateful to the volunteers at the Havelock Charity Shop for making this donation possible.

PAHT has also been able to donate $3000 to the Havelock Police so that they can purchase two defibrillators to carry in their

vehicles.

As first responders to many accidents, the police need these life-saving apparatus on board.

The Health Education Grant was also awarded by PAHT this year to Deb Hartley- a palliative care nurse for the Fare-well Trust and Hospice Marlborough.

This allowed her to complete a lymphatic drainage course, adding another skill to her provision of care to the dying in the Marlborough Sounds and in Blenheim.

These donations by PAHT all contribute to the health and wellbeing of the wider Pelorus community.

Last year PAHT donated over $16,000 to various organisations and is on track to do the same again this year.

This is made possible from sales in the Havelock Charity Shop and the fact that it is staffed by hard-working volunteers.

Concert delayed

The Marlborough District Brass Band has made the decision to postpone their ‘James Morrison in Concert’ show which was due to be staged in the ASB Theatre Marlborough this weekend on Saturday evening the 21st March.

This decision was made following Government’s announcement at the weekend that all travellers arriving in New Zealand to self-isolate for 14 days, and in the expectation that some form of restriction on mass gatherings is likely to follow in the coming days.

Band Chairman, Brian Nicholas, said that as James Morrison has to come from Sydney Australia, he would be unable to attend as a result of the new isolation rules.

The band considered the option of transforming the concert to a stand-alone band concert, and whilst that was a possibility, they decided to make the very hard, but socially responsible decision, to protect the audience from any possibility of exposure to coronavirus by rescheduling the event.

The concert was to be an official celebration of Kevin Moseley’s 30 years of conducting the band, as well as show casing the international jazz multi-instrumentalist James Morrison to local audiences.

The band is very fortunate that James will still come to Blenheim early next year, when the concert and celebration will be presented in the ASB Theatre Marlbor-

ough in early 2021.

Patrons who have purchased tickets to Saturday’s show using credit cards should receive an automatic refund from Ticketek, whilst ticket-holders who paid by other means should discuss their options directly with the ASB Theatre Marlborough box office staff or with Ticketek.

All current ticket-holders will receive a priority presale offer before bookings for next years show open to public sale.

Brian said that the Band is disappointed to have to postpone the show, and apologises to patrons for the inconvenience, but as they say “the show must go on”, and it will, but unfortunately just a year later.

If you had stopped by Waterlea Racecourse on Sunday, you would have seen quite the sight.

The venue was filled with hundreds of vehicles – from classic cars to vintage boats, retro motorcycles to huge trucks, and many more – of different colours, sizes, and brands, which were all being exhibited for the annual Hospice Vehicle Display.

According to organiser, Pat Pascoe, there were was an estimate of over 5,000 visitors who attended the event throughout the day.

“There were so many people coming and going,” he says.

“It’s amazing what came of

this year’s display.”

There were 70 more vehicles exhibited than last year, with 520 on display at Sunday’s event.

With the general theme for 2020 being Pre 1990 Japanese, there were a range of cars dating from as far back as the 1950s.

There were even a number of grape harvesters being displayed!

“It was great for people to check them out, as many people don’t see them that often,” Pat says.

“The guys from Wadsco also did a lot to get their trucks there.”

In Pat’s opinion, Waterlea Racecourse was the perfect venue.

“There were lots of trees

and heaps of space for picnics,” he says.

“People had BBQs going on the back of their cars!”

Although organisers don’t know the total amount raised for Hospice Marlborough quite yet, Pat estimates that the event made about $10,000: $2,000 more than what was made last year.

It’s safe to say he thinks the day was very successful.

“We got a lot of really good comments from people who come along – the crowds really enjoyed it,” Pat says.

“For some, it was their first time exhibiting, and they said they’re definitely coming back next year.

“The event just gets better and better.”

The Havelock Lions Club is currently raising a remaining $2500 for the purchase of two portable defibrillators.

If obtained, the equipment will be used by local Police when they are called to accidents in remote areas of the Marlborough Sounds that paramedics cannot get to quickly.

Police are sometimes the first ones to arrive at the scene of the incident and urgent action is often needed.

The club were initially

hoping that those going along to Sport Tasman’s Muddy Buddy - which was set to happen this weekend and has now been postponed to a later date - would contribute to the cause; on the day of the event, club members were to sell mussel patties, cold drinks and sausages at a sausage sizzle stall, and partner up with the Rai Valley Leo Club to do face-painting and other fundraising activities.

I think all drivers over 40 should have to sit their licence again.

Why? No one seems to remember a basic fundamental rule of driving: You signal out when exiting a roundabout.

The amount of times I have missed an opportunity to go because someone who should know better cannot be bothered to flick their signal on for five seconds is preposterous.

Why is it that a 16 year old sitting their restricted licence can remember to do this but you can’t?

You are setting a bad example for our young ones who should be looking to us as examples of good driving.

Even worse is the game of cat and mouse I must play, when someone decides to drive fully around the round-about.

I have to guess if they’re a good driver signalling correctly, or a lazy one.

Ridiculous! Council, force everyone to re-sit their licences or install some traffic lights.

Stop the madness.

As long as we practise good hygiene, wash our hands and stay away from people when we are ill then we are doing our part to slow or stop the spread of this virus.

By rushing out and acting like the apocalypse is looming, you are disadvantaging people who need weekly supplies.

Stop being so stupid!

Carry on like normal,

ensure your emergency kit is up to date because who knows; an earthquake might hit before Coronavirus does!

And remember people, we will all be getting colds and some might get influenza this winter.

Don’t treat them like they’ve got the plague. Be mindful of how you treat one another. Support one another.

Missing cat found After a week and a half of being missing, Bugsy the cat has returned home.

In the morning of March 11 Sue and Wayne Greenstreet were woken up by loud meowing.

After leaping out of bed they found a skinny and dishevelled Bugsy.

Despite losing half his body weight during his disappearance, after eating a big meal and having a long sleep in the linen cupboard Bugsy is only a little worse for wear.

It is suspected that he was spooked by a car, and after running off lost his bearings. Wayne and Sue are thrilled to have Bugsy home.

“Rich people have brand labels on their clothes, happy people have cat hair on their clothes,” Sue Greenstreet with a safe and sound says Wayne.

Joyce and Ian Cattermole will be donating all the proceeds of their open garden event to the Red Cross. The money will be used in the Marlborough area.

This weekend, Joyce and Ian Cattermole will be opening their garden, ‘Lomani Au,’ to the general public.

Lomani Au means ‘love me’ in Fijian. Joyce is originally from Fiji; she met Ian when he was stationed there as an armourer in the NZ Airforce.

They married, and moved to Blenheim in the 70s, where they built Lomani Au. Previously, Joyce wasn’t interested in gardening. But after being stuck at home for six weeks due to a back injury, Joyce asked Ian to dig her a garden.

She planted Alisons and Primulas. “[Then I] got the bug, had to do my own thing,” says Joyce.

“I garden by balance.

If something is not right, I reposition or change it.”

“Someone told me, artists put their art on canvas; you’ve put your art in your garden.”

Each corner of Lomani Au

holds a different surprise; be it a fernery, or a water-way, or a plate collection.

There’s even a raised potting area, painted blue with climbing Hoya and art on the walls.

Dotted around the grounds are cosy chairs and tables; perfect to sit down with a tea or a coffee. “[People say] it’s beautiful, fantastic, and peaceful.

They’re all lovely reports.”

Lomani Au is located 213A Scott Street, and will be open on March 21 and 22, from 10am to 4pm.

Proceeds will go to Red Cross Marlborough.

Entry is $5, with an additional $5 for morning tea. Joyce and Ian will also be running a raffle, with the prize being a Fijian dinner for two with the host and hostess.

However, if not enough tickets are sold, it will be morning tea for two, serving Fijian nibbles.

For Mayfield School, Paulie steamed mussels, and cooked mussel fritters with sweet-chilli sour cream. The mussels were “straight from the farm,” supplied by Sanford.

“The fritter was so they could try something different,” says Paulie. “A few of them hadn’t tried a mussel before.”

When asked about their Mussel Day experience, the students were nothing but positive.

“It was really yum,” Zayn Chilbert says.

“It was delicious,” adds Davi Periera.

Marty’s iron will Martyn Birch’s return to competitive ironman races last year at 55 was just as much about him competing against himself as it was finding enjoyment in a former hobby.

He talks to Sun reporter Jacob Page about his recent effort at the New Zealand Ironman in Taupo and how his early Navy days shaped his sporting passions.

After 26 years between races, 12 months ago Martyn Birch felt he needed to rediscover something that gave him joy.

That’s when he decided to get back into ironman racing once again.

“I can’t influence how others go,” he says “I just try to set a time and beat that.

The 56-year-old managed second in his age-group at the New Zealand event in Taupo a fortnight ago.

He completed the 1.9km swim, 90km bike and 21.1km run in a time of 10 hours 46 minutes and 49 seconds which was good enough to qualify him for the world event in Kona, Hawaii in October.

“I led my age group out of the swim and the cycling, which has always been my weakness and my run was only ok because I got cramps in my legs which I’ve never had before.

“I always say the last 100m is the easiest you can run because the crowd is there and it’s all noise.

“Once I crossed the finish line, I had a couple of guys help hold me up which I was thankful for because my legs were cramping up really bad.”

Marty says the motivations were simple at the end of the day.

“I had a few mates up there so we had a few beers but after a day like that you have two beers then you’re looking for a bed.

“My aim was to finish as quickly as possible so I could have a beer and a bloody shower.”

Marty says it can often be mind over matter.

“I had a 26-year break before last year but before that I did five New Zealand Ironman’s and two Hawaiians.”

His passion for Ironman’s came during his time at sea.

“When I was in the navy, I was enjoying life and drinking a fair bit of

beer and a guy on one of the ships I was on said ‘right, we are going to get a team together for one of the sprint triathlons’ and I did the first one and I enjoyed it.

“I think we all look to do a sport we are good at and I found out I wasn’t too bad at it and then a mate said I should try an Ironman which was a bloody steep learning curve.”

His first New Zealand Ironman was in 1989.

“I must have done alright because I qualified for Hawaii and I remember asking my mate if I should go and he looked at me and said ‘you idiot of course you go’.

“In Hawaii I did well and cracked the top 20 once.

“The last ironman I did back then was 1993 and the next day I went to Cambodia on a peace keeping mission and never really got back into ironman.

“I’d only do the odd small race here and there and then I purchased a business and I decided to concentrate on that.”

Marty says a major life change re-introduced him to the sport.

“I had a marriage break-up last year and I was trying to get the black dog off my back and I tried to think of things I used to enjoy and that was Ironman events.

“I wanted to do something to make myself happy.

“When you go through a marriage break-up you can get a bit down and the black dog comes around and you want to get that off your back.

“The training can be selfish but I was single so I thought I’d get back into it.

“Plus I had old navy mates that I caught up with so it was a bloody good time.”

He says the training can drain his time.

“Usually one day a weekend is devoted to the bike or a run.”

The Hawaiian Ironman is an iconic event on the sports calendar.

“It’s one of the few sports where the top pros are running with you and then afterwards they can be in the spa at the hotel with you.

“It’s a stunning location.”

Marty is also the president of Marlborough Water Polo, a sport which has seen rapid growth in the province over the past few years.

“When I was in the navy, I was a good swimmer so they got me to play water polo and I enjoyed the team sport aspect of it.

“Considering the size of the region, we have gone fantastic with the the girls winning the New

Zealand Secondary Schools’ title was huge.

“To relate it to Ironman, the swim is a mass start so you have to beat others into the water.

“The start is like being in a washing machine and being beaten by sticks.”

Marty says he will continue to race as long as he enjoys it and his body holds up.

With winter comes the dreaded condensation affecting walls, ceilings and even floors.

If you have noticed condensation causing mould to grow on surfaces, now is the time to take steps to prevent it this winter so that your family can breathe easy and be healthy.

First of all what is condensation? In simple terms it occurs when warm moist air meets a cold surface.

It’s mostly a winter issue as the home becomes cold and windows are opened less, therefore leaving this moist air unable to escape.

But when mould growth occurs, it’s a warning sign that the home’s heating, insulation and ventilation may need improving.

A lot of this can be seen in bathrooms and kitchens due to the nature of what those rooms are used for, as well in bedrooms, inside cupboards and even corners of rooms where ventilation and air

movement are restricted.

To help prevent moist air from spreading to other rooms, provide some ventilation to all rooms so it can escape, and keep your home reasonably warm.

Good ventilation of kitchens when you are cooking is essential, as is in the space you are drying clothes indoors.

Use your extractor fan if one is available and leave on until any misting on windows has cleared.

If your home does not have an extractor fan, open windows but close doors to other rooms.

In bathrooms keep the window open and door shut for the time required to dry off the room.

Remember, too much ventilation in cold weather can waste the heat you are trying to generate indoors.

So be mindful of how wide you open the windows and for how long.

If you notice black mould

already in your home, clean it with bleach and anti-fungacide solution.

Any sign of mould growth is an indication of the presence of moisture and if caused by condensation provides a warning that heating, insulation or ventilation – or all three – may require improvement.

Did you know?

If your hot water cylinder is old, keep the heat in by using a hot water cylinder wrap. These are available from hardware stores. Make sure the thermostat is set to produce a temperature of 55C at the tap (this will also prevent scalds).

Fix dripping taps. A dripping hot tap can cost $80 a year but a washer to fix it costs less than $1!

Marlborough’s children can shout for joy, as the Blenheim Salvation Army Toy Library is re-opening.

The Blenheim Salvation Army Toy Library has been operating for approximately 40 years.

After the retirement of the Toy Library’s coordinator of 25 years in 2019, a committee was established to continue running the library.

“We believe that this will ensure the ongoing operation and sustainability of the library,” Salvation Army Lieutenant Emma Howan says.

“Our team of volunteers enjoy supporting families though providing economic, environmental and educa-

tional benefit.”

The library was then cleaned, organised, and had every toy added to an online data base, “so it’s much like using the library in town,” Emma says.

The Toy library has a wide variety of toys to play with.

Some overlooked toys have been given a fresh chance to be played with via some new colourful packaging, while Duplo and Lego are always in high demand.

“The toys cater for children of all abilities,” Emma says.

“Any parent knows how quickly a child can grow out

of or get bored of a toy you’ve purchased.

The Toy Library is a good way to hire toys at the right age and stage of your child rather than purchase toys to find your child barely plays with them.

It also provides an opportunity for family members to have toys in the house when little members of the family come to stay.”

The Toy Library’s re-opening is Sunday March 22 at 1pm.

Updates regarding the event will be posted on the Blenheim Salvation Army’s Facebook page in light of the recent COVID-19 news.

Following that, the library’s opening hours will be Thursdays 2.30pm-4.30pm and Saturdays 10.00am-12pm.

EVENT: Kartsport Vintage GP2020 Kart-racing enthusiasts from around the country congregated to KartSport Marlborough on Saturday and Sunday for the Top of the South Vintage GP 2020. There were 80 drivers who raced at the event, with many of them driving karts made as long ago as the ‘60s!

Under the Electricity (Hazards from Trees) Regulations 2003, trees must be kept a safe distance from power lines for public safety and to protect electricity supply.

The Regulations define the clearance requirements using two zones, the Notice Zone and Growth Limit Zone.

The Growth Limit Zone is the space around the power line where trees must not encroach at any time. The Notice Zone is one metre beyond the Growth Limit Zone.

A group of young Marlborough marchers are currently preparing to go to Auckland next weekend for a thrilling national competition.

They’re the Renwick Under 12s Marching team, and they’ll be travelling to NZ’s biggest city for the 2020 New Zealand Marching Championships: an event which will see them spend March 26, 27 and 28 marching at Pulman Arena for the chance to make it onto the list of NZ’s top marching groups.

Team coach, Kat McGruddy, says the young marchers are feeling a mix of emotions about the upcoming championships. “[Many are] nervous,” she says.

“Some of them will be flying on a plane for the first time!

“But they’re also really excited, of course.”

Kat says that the team has spent

the last few months fundraising for the trip, and have just raised enough to cover the costs needed.

“We’ve been doing fundraising events every weekend throughout the season,” she says.

“Stalls at each of the concerts for the [recent] Marlborough concert series, BBQs at The Warehouse, raffles. Anything – you name it, we’ve done it!”

Amazingly, the team has also received funding in order to afford the plane tickets to Auckland; the only thing the kids have had to pay for are their registration fees.

According to Kat, they’ll be competing against 18 other under 12 teams from around the country.

Being the only under 12 team with male marchers, there’s no doubt that The Renwick Under 12 Marching team performing at the South Island their team will stand out.

“It’s definitely going to be an Marching Championships last year. interesting event!” Kat laughs.

“It’s good to see it’s still alive it impacts the kids.

“Marching is a really great sport. and it’s amazing to see how much “They’re all part of a team.”

Popular half marathon cancelled Due to the Government’s brave and timely decision to cancel events with more than 500 participants to reduce the threat of the transmission of Covid-19 in NZ, organisers of the annual Saint Clair Half Marathon - a popular event which has been held for the last six years and sees hundreds of running enthusiasts take part in a

scenic run or walk around the region - have had no choice but to reschedule the event to May 8 in 2021.

This is namely because of the uncertainty of the timeframe of the pandemic and the course location which crosses working vineyards.

All entries will be automatically rolled over to next year’s event, so

participants will not need to do anything at this point in time.

For those who had not signed up for the marathon quite yet, entries for the 2021 Saint Clair Half Marathon will reopen in October.

Organisers are set to update the public with any changes as the situation becomes clearer.

Croquet tourney a success

Croquet enthusiasts from Marlborough, Nelson, Hinemoa, and Ashburton gathered at Brooklyn Croquet Club on Saturday and Sunday for the Croquet Marlborough Annual Handicap Tournament.

Players of many levels took part, from experts at level 0 to beginners at level 11.

There were five games played on each day of the tournament, with the doubles rounds being held on Saturday and singles on Sunday.

Winners for the doubles tournament were Alan Gare and Bob Hunter (Brooklyn Croquet Club); second place getters were Joyce Davis and Phyllis Reith (Ashburton Croquet Club); and third place winners were Sam Robinson and Kevin Freeth (Blenheim Croquet Club).

Sam Robinson (Blenheim Croquet Club) was the winner of the singles tournament, with David Galvin (Ashburton Croquet Club) winning runner up, and Joy Hayes (Brooklyn Croquet Club) placing third.
