Inspired By Bisbee

This year’s calendar is dedicated to the memory of Ralph Smith (1921-2012) without whose generosity and friendship this series of historic calendars would not have been possible.

These replica trains were part of a 4th of July celebration on Shoshone St. South near the Train Depot. The photo was taken by Chas Jacoby. Jacoby opened the “Jacoby Studio in Twin Falls in 1928 at 202 7th Ave. East. He moved several times until moving to 1435 Kimberly Road in 1941. 1947 was the last year his business was listed in the Polk Directory. Ad courtesy of Twin Falls Public Library.

This is an early Bisbee photo showing Main Avenue South and Hansen Street where the fountain is located. The fountain, installed in the 1960s is now scheduled to be replaced by a Splash Park & Plaza. The Rotary Club is now raising funds for the project. The Palace Baths & J.A. Buchanan Repair Shop was replaced by the White Store and later J.C. Penney. When J.C. Penney moved to the Magic Valley Mall, it was replaced by Claude Brown Furniture.
