a note from our publisher
A DE CADE IN TH E M A KI NG. . . C H E E RS TO 1 0 Y E A RS ! In 2011, I was a 22-year-old graphic designer who had just planned my dream wedding and married the love of my life. Months after saying “I Do,” I found myself sitting in a hospital watching that same husband fight for his life from a rare brain fungus. I’ll admit, I felt like God wasted no time putting our vows to the test. With my husband in the hospital... it was up to me to figure out how to turn my passion for graphic design and weddings into a full-time career to support my family. Sitting in the corner of his hospital room on my laptop designing Bliss’s first logo, coming up with photoshoot ideas and magazine layouts has to be some of the most humbling moments of my life! I took my experience in the magazine industry, the connections I had from planning my own wedding, said many prayers, and from that moment, Bliss Bridal was born! The last decade has been filled with inspiring weddings, photoshoots, magazine releases, and bridal shows. However, my favorite of them all has been building one of the largest and most supportive communities of wedding vendors in Central Texas. These wedding pros have rallied behind Bliss Bridal to make it everything that it is today. Over the past decade, Bliss Bridal has been a resource to find wedding vendors, view real weddings, and gather inspiration… but something was missing. If the size of this issue is any indication of what’s in store, you’re in for an exciting ride! Bliss Bridal will no longer be known just as a bridal magazine but as the ultimate wedding tool. We are excited to announce Bliss Bridal is now Central Texas’ premier wedding planner! Each wedding category will now have its own section, filled with advice, timelines, questions to ask, and more! Each section will feature wedding pros in that category that have been vetted by our team and real brides, and we are confident that they are nothing short of the very best here in Central Texas! Although this is a wedding planning tool, we still recommend hiring a real wedding planner, which you can find on page 23! As I look back on the past 10 years, I am forever grateful for this amazing wedding community, the true driving force behind Bliss Bridal. Because of this same wedding community 10 years ago that gave me this start, despite being a young, 22-year-old graphic designer with nothing to show for- except for a small portfolio and a BIG dream that we are even standing here today! A lot has changed over the years… our page numbers have gotten larger, we’ve added (two) bridal shows, and now we have transitioned from a magazine into a wedding planner. It’s safe to say that growing something of this magnitude is not for the faint at heart, nor is it easy to do alone. Some of you may notice her as our last cover girl, but I know her best as my right-hand gal! For over a year, Natasha has been by my side at photoshoots, meetings, and bridal shows. She has scoured through real wedding images, spent many late nights designing layouts, coordinating photoshoots with vendors, editing articles, and keeping me sane daily! With all of that being said... I am even more excited to announce that Natasha and I have joined forces, and she now is our Associate Publisher! Natasha and I are committed to making this next decade better than the last! We are starting off the new year by introducing this magazine-come-planner as your wedding lifeline, as it has been designed to be your trusted companion all the way to your honeymoon. Inside you’ll discover tons of honest and real advice from a few of our favorite wedding pros alongside beautiful inspiration to get your creative ideas flowing! It’s our hope that these pages will make your planning experience a little less daunting and inspire you! This planner is meant to be used and often referenced, so get your notebook ready, grab a glass of wine and start envisioning how these wedding pros can help make your day happen just the way you envisioned!
cheers to another decade! Angela and Natasha

FOR THE MODERN BRIDE
We know how it is. When the euphoria of the engagement begins to fade, you’re struck by a flutter of panic: “I need to plan the wedding!” Suddenly, the mountain of decisions that requires your personal attention seems like a daunting task. Relax! This is the fun part! Bliss Bridal Bash, our annual Bridal Show, is a fun and effective way to plan your wedding! There is no better way to shop and compare wedding services, ideas and inspirations than at an event that showcases wedding pros all in one place! All photos from event / Shelly Taylor Photography
A bridal show not only provides information and ideas for wedding planning but is also a great way to spend a day with your wedding party, family and fiancé focusing on you and your special day. Show discounts, door prizes, samples, free magazines, food tastings, photo ops, demonstrations, entertainment and fashion shows are an added bonus to attending bridal shows. To make the most of these events, here are some tips every bride should know before you go. . . .
CREATE A WEDDING EMAIL ADDRESS A wedding email address will help you keep all of your wedding planning information together in one account.
PRE-PURCHASE YOUR TICKETS Why wait in line? Not to mention, day of tickets are more expensive to help cover staff at the check-in counter. In todays world, capacity is also an issue with Covid regulations, that there are only so many tickets available. Do yourself a favor and pre-purchase tickets before the event!
PRE-MAKE LABELS Most vendors have show specials or contests, to make it easier, pre-make address labels with your name, email address, phone number and mailing address to save time writing your information at each booth.
TAKE A LOT OF PHOTOS AND NOTES If you love a vendor, be sure to take a photo of their booth and their business card. You will see a lot of vendors that day and it will help you remember which ones you loved the most!
BE PREPARED TO BOOK ON THE SPOT Most wedding vendors have day-of show specials and this is the perfect time to save a lot of money on your wedding day! Be prepared to put down deposits or pay for services at the show if you love a vendor!
ENTER INTO RAFFLES All bridal shows have raffles, but not all are made equal. At Bliss Bridal Bash, every bride that enters, wins at least (1) prize which can range anywhere from a free wedding dress to a certificate for 25% off your wedding venue. These raffles are meant to help you plan and save so take advantage!
GROOMS ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND It takes two to say “I DO”, so make your Groom a part of these fun decisions. Trust us- he won’t be the only male in the room. Grooms attend this show every year and they are always afraid they will be the only guy there. But we promise they will have just as much fun as you! (Or they will at least love the food!)

BUDGET BREAKDOWN It’s important to determine who is contributing to the wedding cost and how much you have to spend from day one. “expensive” and “stressful” might be two things that come to mind when you think of wedding budget planning, but they don’t have to be. No matter your budget, with the right planning, organization, and budgeting tips this process can be as easy as saying “I Do.”
cost considerations GUEST LIST
Like it or not, each person you invite has a price tag. From catering, alcohol, cake, stationery, rentals, and flowers, each person you invite plays a role in these costs. Obviously there is a catering, drink and cake slice cost, but also consider tables, chairs, linens and centerpieces for these extra seats. Each person will also require a save-the-date, a wedding invitation, RSVP and the stamp to mail it. These things seem small, but they really do add up.
DATE + TIME
Saturday weddings will always be the most expensive day of the week. If you are looking to cut back costs on your venue, try picking a Friday or Sunday. You could also consider the time of day you host your wedding. A brunch or afternoon reception is less expensive on catering than a formal evening dinner.
OTHER ALTERNATIVES
If a wedding planner is not in the budget, consider a day of coordinator that is about half of the cost. Instead of a groomsmans cake, can your grandmother make your fiance’s favorite pie and create a DIY pie bar? Get creative when you can, but the last thing you want is a #pinterestfail, so be smart and know when its time to leave it to the professionals. Do not ruin your big day to save a few bucks.

| BLISS BRIDAL
WEDDING STYLE
The more casual the affair, the less expensive your overall design will need to be. A rustic themed wedding in a barn can easily get away with BBQ or a food truck. A glam formal affair, not so much. Consider your style when thinking about budget.
RECONSIDER DIY
Today, more than ever brides love to handcraft their wedding details. However, in terms of budget, keep in mind that the DIY is not always the least expensive, especially when a project requires you to buy tools or supplies that can only be bought in bulk. So many times we see brides that want to buy their own linens online, only to later realize the quality is not the same, the time and frustration to steam them before the wedding and the cost to clean them after. By the time you went through all of the headache, you are only saving a few bucks (maybe) and then you are left with a pile of linens you will never end up using again. The same frustrations are seen when buying bigger rental pieces, DIY silk flowers, DIY invitations, centerpieces and more. Think about all of the steps before you consider DIYing or buying things yourself. In the end you could be spending the same if not more. Also, you may realize the time and stress is not worth the few extra dollars.
W H O P AY S ? Before you start creating your budget, you will need to figure out who will be contributing. Those who pay will also have a say in how much you have to spend. In modern society, a lot of couples are paying out of pocket for their own wedding. However, there are many brides who like the idea of a traditional wedding budget where families are also involved. Below is the budget breakdown for both the bride and groom’s families traditional expenses.
bride’s side
• Reception cost such as venue, food, beverage, decorations, rentals, and music • Wedding Planner or Day of Coordinator • Bride’s dress, veil and accessories • Bride’s hair and makeup • Stationery (invitations, announcements, postage, thank you notes, wedding programs, other paper elements) • Photographer and Videographer • Ceremony costs: Music, officiants, rentals, decor etc • Floral arrangements for ceremony and reception, bouquets and corsages for bridesmaids and flower girl and groom’s boutonniere • Transportation of bridal party to and from ceremony and reception
groom’s side • Bride’s rings and wedding bands • Alcohol for the reception • Honeymoon, including transportation to airport • Wedding gift for the bride • Marriage license • Groomsman gifts • Bride’s bouquet and going-away corsage, boutonnieres for men (other than the groom), and corsages for mothers and grandmothers • Officiant’s fee • Groom’s attire • Travel and lodging expenses for groom’s parents • Rehearsal dinner
• Groom’s wedding ring
• Wedding gift for the newlyweds
• Bridesmaid and other bridal party gifts
• Bachelor’s party
• Wedding gift for the groom • All tips (waitstaff, band or DJ, photographer, parking attendants, etc.) • Bridesmaid luncheon
think twice
CHEAPER PHOTOGRAPHER
If you need to cut your budget somewhere, the last place you want to do it on is your photography. The amateur photographer friend or the lady who got a camera for Christmas and now says she is a wedding photographer may take great photos, but a professional wedding photographer will know the exact details to capture, proper lighting for your venue, and know how to maximize their shooting time around a wedding schedule. These images will be all that you have to look back on your wedding day, so make the investment!
NO PLANNER OR COORDINATOR
Your family and friends have looked forward to the day that you walked down the aisle and the last thing you want to do is take that moment from them by adding the stress of also being your wedding planner. If a full wedding planner is not in your budget, make room at minimal for a Day Of Coordinator. A Day of Coordinator will help with vendors, setting up your wedding, make sure that your wedding runs smoothly and handle any issues that arise. This will help ensure that you and your family and friends can enjoy the day stress free.

F I N D I N G , N E G OT I AT I N G , AND HIRING VENDORS FINDING YOUR VENDORS Some of the best recommendations can come from the people you know and trust, but not always. Have you ever recommended someone, and it didn’t go well? Don’t just rely on your friend’s one experience. Do your research, ask your vendors, read reviews, look at more of their work in magazines, social media, and attend local bridal shows. Wedding magazines and blogs can be a wealth of vendor leads in several different ways. Search for real weddings or editorials and reach out to anyone whose work you love. Check to see if there is a vendor directory, a hand-picked selection of vendors that have been vetted in some way. Our vendors have been hand-selected by our publisher based on vendor recommendations, reviews, and real bride’s feedback. If you love a publication, chances are you’ll love the vendors they feature! Bridal shows are a great way to meet vendors in person, taste catering, sample desserts and see rentals first hand. Photographers and wedding planners are two important vendors that you will be spending a lot of time with on your wedding day. Bridal shows are a great way to talk to them face to face and make sure the two of you hit it off!
NEGOTIATING WITH VENDORS If a vendor asks you what your budget is, be honest. They are not trying to scam you; they are trying to work with you. If you don’t know your exact budget, a range is fine. This will help them get an idea of what to present to you that fits within your budget or to let you know right off the bat that they may not be a good fit due to budget. If you have a budget of $1,500 for photography and the photographer’s lowest package is $3,000, there is no reason to waste either of your time. So what do you do if a vendor is out of your budget? Vendors have set their prices with careful thought, so it’s unreasonable to expect them to lower their standard pricing without giving up something in return. It’s also not fair to ask them to price match or mention that another vendor is cheaper. They set their prices based on experience, education, overhead, labor, material and general business costs. Remember you get what you pay for! If the price quoted is beyond your budget and you really want to work with them, see if you can deduct something from what they present. Maybe that is choosing a less expensive flower for your floral arrangements, reducing the hours of coverage, or not doing an envelope liner in that fancy stationery suite you couldn’t live without.
HIRING VENDORS We wouldn’t recommend hiring any other vendor (unless it’s a wedding planner) before you’ve signed and booked your venue. Your location will dictate the style, travel fees, and the hours included in the rental. It will also let you know, if you will need tables or chair rentals unless they are a part of your venue package. Don’t be in a rush to hire the first vendor you find or hire someone just because you know them. While sometimes this can work out, there have been times we have seen a relationship and a wedding ruined over hiring a friend. Just because your cousin got a new camera doesn’t make them a wedding photographer. Just because your college BFF decided to watch a YouTube video on using fondant doesn’t make her a professional wedding cake artist. Ensure that whoever you are hiring -friend or not, has the experience and reviews to back up their work. Our Little Ranch Photography S PR IN G / S U M M E R 202 1 | blissbridalmagazine.com

WEDDING DRESS BASICS 101 At some point as a little girl, you dreamed of what your wedding dress would look like. You pictured yourself walking down the aisle wearing a big white gown like you’ve seen in the movies, marrying your prince charming. But picking “The Dress” is much more than that. Not to make you nervous or anything, but this is pretty much the one time you can be certain all eyes will be on you. And you’ll probably spend more on whatever it is you decide to wear than you have on any outfit you will ever own. Making sure your dream dress compliments your body shape, fits the style of your wedding as well as your budget isn’t as simple as those movies made it seem. Wedding-dress shopping comes with its own language, and the more you know about what types of silhouettes, neckline, and shades of white might flatter you, the easier finding your dream dress will be.

SHOPPING PARTNER
Are you getting married in the hot Texas summer months or are you planning a winter soiree? One of the first steps of wedding dress shopping is setting a date so you can find a gown that’s fit for the season. For example, you’ll likely want a light and airy gown, one made with chiffon, if you’re marrying in warmer weather. On the other hand you’ll want a heavier fabric, such as satin, for colder temps. As a rule of thumb, consider the temperature on your wedding day when selecting material. Your venue plays a big role in how to shop for a wedding dress because your overall bridal look should be cohesive with your venue style. For example an ballroom calls for a different dress code than, say, a rustic ranch or even an urban loft. If you’re getting married at a house of worship, check with your ceremony officiant to find out whether there are any attire guidelines, such as covering your shoulders. The last thing you’ll want to do is fall in love with a wedding dress that is way over budget. Come up with a number that you’re willing to spend and stick to it. That way you can tell the bridal salon right away how much you’re able to spend on that dream wedding dress. Trust us- you’re better off not trying on gowns outside your price range. You’ll either end up falling in love and being disappointed by every other dress you see (even if they’re just as beautiful) or you’ll blow your budget and have to cut somewhere else down the line. Decide which wedding dress silhouette you’re looking for before you step into any bridal salons. Think about what styles look best on you, and which ones you prefer—form-fitting trumpet gowns, or more forgiving A-lines? Remember, not all silhouettes look best on all body types. No matter how beautiful a gown, it won’t look good f it doesn’t suit your body shape. Your bridal gown and your bridesmaids’ dresses need to highlight your best features while camouflaging any less than perfect areas. Having your preferred silhouettes and shapes in mind before your appointments will really allow you to shop for a wedding dress like an expert. You’ll notice we said partner - not your entire bridal party. Taking someone with you when you shop for your wedding gown is crucial but limit the amount of people as too many opinions can become more stressful than helpful. Most brides shop with their mother and/or maid of honor. It’s also a good idea to take someone with a similar sense of style so you won’t constantly be disagreeing. Now that you’re so well-versed in bridal speak, you’re ready to go out and use it. Be prepared to shop early- nine to twelve months before the wedding. Most wedding dresses are custom-made, which means they need to be ordered well in advance so the manufacturer or designer has time to create the dress (it can take six to eight months, though some designers can do it in less) and you have time or multiple fittings.

BE HI ND T H E A PPOINT ME NT: SH O P P I NG FOR YOUR D R E A M D RESS Wedding gown salons like Georgio’s Bridal and Main Street Bridal sell madeto-order, designer wedding dresses and are the most traditional places to shop. They’ll carry collections from a wide variety of designers with a large variety of styles and options to choose from. You can expect full service (a salesperson well versed in the world of wedding gowns helping you), and your dress is going to be custom-ordered and altered to fit you. You can also buy bridal accessories such as veils and headpieces, shoes, earrings, necklaces and more! At a salon, a specific salesperson (sometimes called a “bridal consultant”) will be assigned to help you. You will work with this person every time you come into the store and after you buy the dress (for alterations, etc.). A bridal consultant will ask you questions about the type of wedding you’re having such as style, formality and how you envision yourself looking. They will discuss what kind of dresses will flatter your body type, height, and weight. Then she’ll bring you dresses to try on.
QUESTIONS TO ASK 1. How long will the dress take to come in and can it be rushed if needed? 2. Can I see fabric samples so I’ll know the exact color I’m ordering? 3. Manufacturer/designer name, and style number 4. Exact color ordered (white, ivory, champagne) 5. What is the full price including any additional fees? 6. What is the size ordered and/or detailed measurements? 7. What is the actual date the dress will be in? Main Street Bridal | Belton, Texas
8. What is the deposit amount required?
DRESS FITTINGS
9. Special order requests and costs (tape sleeves, chance bodice, etc.)
Every wedding dress needs alterations. Alterations can be as simple as taking in the waist a bit and hemming the dress, shortening the sleeves, taking in the bodice, or even adding beading or lace. Most bridal salons do alterations in-house, but if they don’t , chances are the bridal consultant you’ve been working with can recommend a good seamstress. Bring your wedding-day undergarments and shoes to all your fittings. A simple bra switch or change in heel height can cause your dress to fit very differently.
10. Other costs (pressing/steaming, delivery, cleaning) 11. Alterations estimate, specifying what type of alterations it covers. 12. What is the future payment schedule? 13. When is the balance due? 14. What is the Cancellation and refund policies?
You’ll probably have at least two or three fittings, though more may be necessary. You’ll want to do your first fitting six weeks before the wedding day and your second one a month before. The final fitting typically takes place one or two weeks before the wedding day when you pick up your gown and try it on one final time to adjust for any last-minute weight fluctuations. During the fittings, speak up if you see something you don’t like. Now is your chance. If there’s a problem, continue to schedule fittings until you’re completely satisfied. When the day of your final fitting arrives, ask your mom and maid of honor to come along so they can learn how to bustle your dress and help you get dressed.

WEDDING DRESS
Silhouettes
During your wedding dress appointment, one of the first things you’ll be asked by the bridal stylist is which type of wedding dress shape or silhouette you’d like to wear. You might already have an idea of how you want your dress to look, but knowing exactly how to describe your dream gown can go a long way when working with your stylist. Choosing the perfect design for your bridal gown will not only enhance your figure and beauty, but also reflect your elegance, grace, and individuality. When selecting your gown keep these timeless silhouettes in mind rather than trying to look trendy on your wedding day. This will ensure your wedding day gown style will never continue to look timeless. The silhouette you select will be based in personal taste, the style and tone of your wedding and what best enhances your figure.
A-LINE
BALL GOWN
A-Line wedding dresses are the epitome of classic beauty! The Silhouette is considered to be extremely figure flattering, especially for brides wishing to minimize their hips and thighs. A-Line dresses are fitted through your waist and then flare out softly to create an “A” shape (hence the name). It’s a very popular style as it compliments brides’ proportions and flatters the figure with a romantic, feminine cut.
The true “princess” dress. The ball gown has a fitted bodice and a full skirt. Ballgowns are referred to as the most popular wedding dress silhouette thanks to their whimsical, romantic essence. They offer a traditional, classic shape that is the epitome of wedding day looks.
Who it is flattering on: Ideal for most body types, but can be overwhelming on petites with very small frames.
Who it is flattering on:
A-Line wedding dresses are praised for their ability to look good on just about any body type. From athletic builds to pear-shaped brides, A-Line silhouettes are forgiving on a wide range of sizes.
FIT-AND-FLARE
SHEATH
Fit-and-flare wedding dresses hug the body in all the right places! The top of the gown is fitted until the skirt flares just below the hips, which helps accentuate a brides’ waist. Fit-and-flare gowns are a hybrid of the A-Line and Mermaid silhouettes; this style accentuates the waist and still allows for a dramatic flare.
Sheath wedding dresses are the embodiment of simple sophistication. This contemporary style is equal parts sexy and polished. Sheath wedding dresses are a form-fitting style that follows the body’s natural shape and doesn’t flare out at the waist or knees like many other bridal dress styles. Thanks to the straight lines and modern style, sheath wedding dresses have a flattering lengthening effect.
Who it is flattering on:
Who it is flattering on:
Fit and flare wedding gowns are often selected by brides with a pear and hourglass builds, as the shape highlights your curves. The shape also adds length in the torso, which can help petite brides look taller.
Ideal for lean frames, and athletic body types. Also great for hourglasses who are looking to flaunt their curves!
MERMAID/ TRUMPET
Who it is flattering on:
Hourglass, straight and narrow shaped brides look best in this style. It is perfect for brides wanting to show off their curves.
“
“Finding “The” gown starts with finding the right silhouette. Silhouettes dictate how gowns fit and flatter a body, so you will want to start by knowing which shape will look best on you. ” - Belva Harvey, Georgio’s Bridal

Mermaid or trumpet wedding gowns are one of the sexiest silhouettes a bride can wear. This style amplifies all of your feminine curves in all the right places. Frequently accented with a sexy sweetheart neckline, mermaid wedding dresses feature an elongated bodice that highlights the hips and flares out below the knee. Trumpet gowns on the other hand flare out at the knee, making it easier to move in.

ring
O N I T. . .
now what ?
NAVIGATING YOU R NA M E C HA NGE A FT E R YOU S AY “I D O”
You’ve got that shiny new ring, but now its time you show off that new name! Just because you have a marriage license with your new last name, doesn’t mean you’ve officially changed your name. If you thought that was the hard part, wait until you see the lines at the social security office and DMV. It’s a lot of work and by that we mean you’re about to spend a lot of time filling out government forms, listening to automated messages and standing in long lines. By the time you’ve worked your way through the process, you’ll have a wallet full of cards flaunting your new name. It will all be worth it in the end... but where to start? To save you some of the hassle we’ve put together a guide of what you’ll need to do, the order you’ll need to do it in, and exactly what you’ll need to have with you to make the process as painless as possible!
GET YOUR MARRIAGE LICENSE & CERTIFIED COPIES These documents are the most important part, and you can’t move on to step two without them. When you’re applying for your marriage license, ask if you can purchase certified copies in advance. (We recommend buying three to start.) This way, instead of having to go back to get copies once you’ve received your marriage certificate after your wedding, you’ll get your certificate and your certified copies all at once. Stash the certificate somewhere safe, but keep the certified copies onhand. You’ll need them.
UPDATE YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY CARD Now that you have proof of your marriage, you’ll need to let the government know which name you’d like to go by. You can either apply for a new social security card by mail or in person at your local Social Security office. If you plan on going to the Social Security office in person, save yourself some time by filling out the application for a social security card in advance. You will also need to bring the following documents: • Proof of Citizenship: your valid passport or a certified copy of your birth certificate. • Proof of Name Change: a certified copy of your marriage license. • Proof of Identity: This must show your name, date of birth or age, and have a recent photograph. (valid driver’s license, your valid passport, or a valid state-issued identification card) • Your current Social Security card. You will keep the same number when your card is replaced.
GET A NEW DRIVER’S LICENSE After you’ve gone to the Social Security office, you will want to complete the “Application for renewal/Replacement/Change of A Texas Drivers License Or Identification Card” online. You can do so by clicking drivers license forms at the bottom of the dps.texas.gov website. Take the application and $11 with you to the DPS office (it can only be done in person). Some DPS offices also let you book an appointment, so be sure to check beforehand. When you go to the DPS office, bring the following documents with you: Diana Mcintrye Photography
did you know? There’s a shortcut to all of this! Make it easy on yourself and fast-track your paperwork with name changing kits from sites like: • Hitchswitch.com • Newlynamed.com • namechangekit.com

• Your receipt from the Social Security office (just in case) or your new Social Security card if you already have it. • Your current driver’s license. • A certified copy of your marriage license. • Your checkbook or cash or they now also take debit and credit cards.
PASSPORTS Now that you have your social security card and your drivers license, now you can get your new passport! All passport changes must be done by mail! You will need to complete a passport application online. (www.us.state.gov) You then will need to send the application and other documents to the U.S. Department of State. • Send your original passport, certified copy of your marriage license and one passport photo with the application. You will want to send this by traceable mail. • Your new passport should arrive in 4-6 weeks unless you expedite it!

FINDING THE PERFECT VENUE Picking a wedding venue is a big deal. It’s one of the most expensive parts of your budget. It sets the tone. It’s the base that will help the rest of your event come to life. It’s also an incredibly overwhelming process. How can you possibly find a venue that A) you can afford, B) you actually like, C) is convenient for your guests, and D) isn’t already booked? (Hint: it is possible.) When it comes to how to choose a wedding venue, the whole process can feel pretty daunting and there are lots of questions that you’ll need to answer. Will your wedding be big or small? Outdoors or indoors? Rustic or glam? Settling on the basics of your wedding will help you and your fiance narrow down the many venues out there, and find the one that’s right for you. Here’s the rundown of how to choose a wedding venue, from start to finish. CHOOSE YOUR WEDDING’S GENERAL LOCATION Venue: The Lodge at The Harvey 5 Ranch Jack and June Photography
What city will your wedding be held in? This can be your partner’s hometown, the city where you currently live, do you have family all over Texas and you need a central location? These are all things to think about.
DRAFT A BUDGET Before you make any venue decisions, you need to make a draft budget. Don’t sign a contract with a venue, regardless of the price, only to realize down the line that you have no money left to decorate it.
COME UP WITH AN ESTIMATED GUEST COUNT Every wedding venue has a capacity—a firm number of guests that it can comfortably hold. This number is usually not flexible. There’s a big difference between a venue that can accommodate 175 guests verses 500. Don’t just pull a guest count out of thin air (“I want a 100-person wedding!”). Sit down with your partner to come up with a list so there won’t be any surprises later on.
THINK ABOUT YOUR PRIORITIES Sit down with your partner and choose features that your ideal venue would have. For example, tables and chair included or one that can hold both your ceremony and reception in one location. Or perhaps you’re looking for a venue that’s conveniently located, pet-friendly, and allows you the option for an entire weekend package. The possibilities are endless and each couple’s priorities will be different.
NARROW DOWN SOME DATES Booking a wedding venue means that you’ve officially “set the date” for your big day. You may already have a wedding date in mind, or you may be able to be a bit more flexible. Either way, one of the first steps of how to choose a wedding venue is to narrow down a few dates that you know will work. While saying that you’re getting married “next fall” is a good start, you should have some specific dates in mind before looking at venues.
START YOUR RESEARCH Use this planner, Blissbridalmagazine.com and other online resources to start learning about what venues are in the area. Here you will find capacities, pricing, and each venues amenities. Once you find a venue that meets your criteria, call to setup a tour! If you fall in love at first sight with a particular venue, it can be a pretty amazing feeling. However, don’t feel too much pressure to sign on the dotted line during your initial tour. It’s best to take a step back, tour a few venues, and discuss your options with your partner. When you both have agreed on your desired venue, ask to receive a contract. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and be sure you understand the payment schedule. When you feel comfortable with all aspects of the contract, sign it, return the paperwork to the venue, and pop some bubbly! Venue: La Rio Mansion | Kayla Sellers Photography

QUESTIONS TO ASK You’ve already landed the fiancé. Now it’s time to nail down the venue. Once you’ve narrowed down your list and scheduled some site visits, you have to know what questions to ask! To make this task easier, we’ve come up with this comprehensive list of questions to ask a wedding venue—before you put down a deposit.
1. Is my date available? 2. How many people can the venue hold? 3. Can I get a detailed list of what the rental includes? 4. Are there any restrictions on event times? 5. Are there any restrictions on what I can and can’t serve? 6. Do you have a open vendor policy? 7. How any hours does the rental fee cover? 8. When can I access the venue for setup? 9. What type of deposit is required and when is the balance due? 10. What payment plans are available? 11. What is the cancellation policy? 12. Is there backup plan for outdoor weddings? 13. Is there a place for the bridal party to get ready? 14. Are there any other weddings that day? 15. Are tables, chairs, linens or other rental items included? 16. If the ceremony and reception are in the same place, how long will it take to convert the space? 17. Is there plenty of parking and is it free? 18. Are there noise restrictions? 19. Is wedding insurance required? 20. Are there restrictions on decorations? 21. Is there a kitchen available for catering? 22. Can we bring in our own alcohol and is a bartender required? 23. Do you have a liquor license? 24. Will there be a site manager? 25. Are there speakers available or will our DJ need to provide them? 26. Are there security guards on staff or will we need to hire them? 27. Is there on-site lodging? 28. Do you have all inclusive packages? 29. Is there an additional fee to have the rehearsal the night prior? 30. Can setup be done the day prior? If so, is there a fee?

capturing your
What remains after the I do’s are said, the cake is cut, and the bouquet is tossed? It’s the many incredible memories found in your photo album and video. Your wedding photos and videography are something you will hold dear for decades to come. If your house is burning down, chances are your wedding photos and video would be one of the few things you will grab at a moment’s notice before dashing to safety. It’s safe to say, two of the most important decisions couples have to make are choosing a wedding photographer and videographer. Your photo album and video are meaningful wedding keepsakes and they speak volumes about the atmosphere, style, and emotions of your wedding day. When researching photographers and videographers, crucial considerations include professional skills, style, and reviews. You should choose your photography style before you even reach out to potential photographers. If you book first then learn about the style later you may end up with photos that don’t match your vision. Today’s most popular wedding photography styles of editing include dark and moody and light and airy. Dark and moody images tend to have a more emotional vibe with deep shadows, higher contrast, and more vibrant colors. Light and airy photos are more romantic and whimsical with muted colors and lighter tones.

Like your photographer, videographers take different approaches to their craft. There’s no doubt a professional wedding video is something you will cherish as you get to look back and see the live action you missed when you were busy greeting guests or dancing with your grandpa. You’ll have a record of your dance with your dad, your bouquet toss, and relive the emotions saying your vows. Before you begin shopping for a videographer, figure out which directional approach most appeals to you and how you want the video to feel. Many videographers have a variety of styles such as documentary which is closer to a raw documentary film, or cinematic which captures details from every angle with a Hollywood feel. Most photographers and videographers can be booked up to a year in advance and some only shoot one wedding per weekend, so book as soon as possible to be sure that wedding is yours!

TAY L O R N I C O L E P H O T O G R A P H Y (254) 709-5075 | tay.nicole44@gmail.com Taylor Nicole is a professional photographer in the central Texas area who loves to travel and go on all kinds of adventures! She has been heavily invested in photography since the age of 12. It all started with a little green Sony Cybershot camera that her parents gifted her. With that, she started documenting daily walks around the neighborhood, her dad feeding the horses, and eventually fun little shoots with friends. Over time, more people were coming to her for family sessions, senior sessions, engagements, and more. She started to see what photography could (and later would) become in her life. Taylor would never have thought that she would end up where she is today. A professional photographer.

CHooSE YOUR BLooMS
TOP TIPS TO CHOOSING THE PERFECT FLORALS Gorgeous blooms can make the look of your wedding day when you work with a floral designer that understands your vision and helps you to enhance it! When it comes to wedding décor, flowers are essentially the star, taking a leading role in both your ceremony and your reception. They help set the mood, enhance the color scheme, and can carry the entire theme. Whether you already have ideas of your own regarding your wedding flowers, you aren’t sure where to start or need help following through with your style, your florist will be able to communicate with you and master the vision you have. Choosing specific flowers for your wedding can be a little overwhelming, especially if you aren’t really a “flower person” and can’t tell a rose from a ranunculus. Not to worry, we’ve put together a list of the most popular wedding flowers. These are blooms we love and see most frequently, from beloved classics like peonies and roses to some under-the-radar florist faves. PEONIES Peonies are easily one of the most popular wedding flowers. Their fluffy, romantic shape and ruffled petals make for beautiful bouquets. They are also available in countless colors, from white, cream, and yellow to varying shades of pink and red. Keep in mind that peonies are one of the more expensive wedding flowers so mixing peonies with other in-season blooms can help keep costs down if needed. Shelly Taylor Photography Woods Flowers
GARDEN ROSES A Garden rose differs from a standard rose as it has been bred with a denser petal count than your average standard rose, resulting in a fuller, more romantic look. Garden roses are also usually more fragrant than standard roses, making them perfect for bridal bouquets since you’ll hold them close and smell them throughout the day.
Neva Michelle Photography Creative Innovations
ANEMONES These pretty blossoms are known for their delicate petals and bold, dark centers. The most popular anemone variety features bright white petals and jet-black centers like the one pictured, making it the perfect choice if your wedding colors are black and white. Anemones are also available in many other colors, including blush pink, deep purple, cherry red, burgundy, and even bright blue.

Neva Michelle Photography Woods Flowers
RANUNCULUS Ranunculus are a beautiful bloom with delicate, tissue-thin petals. They’re a versatile flower and look great in bouquets as well as table centerpieces. Ranunculus are also quite hardy, with many florists also using them as boutonnieres since they’ll stand up to a lot of hugs. Ranunculus are available in nearly every color imaginable, so you’re sure to find them in the perfect shade to match your color scheme. Neva Michelle Photography
DAHLIAS Dahlias are the perfect focal flowers because they have such a commanding presence. They’re available in almost every color and are usually more affordable than the ever-popular peonies or roses. One of the most popular dahlia varieties among brides is called cafe au lait. It’s beautiful color ranges from a blush pink-peach hue to a soft and creamy beige.

with rentals
When it comes to hiring wedding vendors, some are more obvious than others. You wouldn’t dream of having a wedding without hiring a photographer, but a rental company should be high on your list of priority vendors as they create your event’s overall look and feel. We’re here to tell you why working with a rental company can help you create the wedding of your dreams while relieving you of stress, time and how DIY should not be your go-to option when you think of the budget.
Some wedding venues may include rentals like tables, chairs, china, etc., in their packages. However, some do not—or you may not love what is included. In most cases, booking a wedding rental company is a must even with those things included. Wedding rental companies tend to offer a wider selection of items so that you can find tables, chairs, and more that fit your wedding theme and style. Rental companies carry a variety of items such as tables, chairs, dance floors, linens (tablecloths, napkins, chair covers, etc.), drapery, lighting, furniture, audio/visual equipment, tents, vases, and other vessels, china, barware, flatware, glassware, signage, and much more! Here are a few reasons hiring a rental company should be a must on your to-do list:
1. IT’S EASY TO CREATE A COHESIVE STYLE When it comes to designing your wedding, the options are literally endless. Even if you’ve narrowed down that you want a vintage bohemian look, deciding on the design elements to execute that style can be overwhelming. This is where a rental company makes things so much easier! From candlesticks to couches, the rental company has already curated a selection of items and often even organizes their stock by wedding style (e.g., rustic rentals, industrial rentals, etc.). Whether you’re designing a lounge area for the reception or arranging a welcome vignette at your ceremony, the rental company has a select number of pieces you can mix and match to perfectly carry out your vision.
Confetti Rentals | Bear Moose & Fox
2. YOU WILL SAVE TIME + MONEY You already have enough on your plate with planning a wedding — let someone else do the hard work of sourcing your decor elements! Many couples get in over their heads with wanting to thrift or DIY every piece of decor for their wedding, not realizing how many pieces they will need to find or create, not to mention the expensive price tag of doing it yourself. Working with a rental company is actually the more budget and time friendly option! Besides, do you really want to be stuck with 150 chargers or glass candle holders after your wedding is over? Unless you’re getting into the wedding planning business after saying “I do,” it’s best to borrow the stuff you need for the one day you’ll use it than to take up stock in enough glassware to fill your whole kitchen.
Pendley Party Productions | Shelly Taylor Photography
3. DELIVERY + SETUP Are you working on the day of your wedding or are you getting married? If there’s one thing you don’t want to worry about on your wedding day, it’s the transport of a bunch of furniture to and from your venue, setting it up, getting sweaty and worn out hours before walking down the aisle. One of the perks of hiring a rental company is that they take care of getting your rentals to the wedding and back to their warehouse safe and sound. No need to stay after the party to break down the party and drive a big ole U-Haul of decor home after the party is over because a professional has got it covered! cake
HAV E YO U R AND EAT IT TOO!
Before you book your cake, you’ll want to do your research and make sure you have an idea of what you have your heart set on. Do you want a large threetier cake or multiple cakes? Do you love the look of fondant or is butter cream frosting your must have? Of course, if you’re completely unsure of what you’d like in a wedding cake, a great baker will certainly guide you through your options. It also helps to come prepared with inspirational images to visually explain exactly what you have in mind. Cakes are an art form and not all bakers have the same skills, or level of experience. But, we are confident that if you choose a Bliss Wedding Pro, you’ll be in great hands!
Sweetness Desserts | Neva Michelle Photography
YOU NEED TO FINALIZE YOUR GUEST LIST FIRST. When deciding what size cake to order, first look to your guest count. Generally, three tiers will serve 60-75 guests; you’ll likely need five layers for 200 guests or more. If the reception is in a grand room with high ceilings, consider increasing the cake’s stature with columns between the tiers. You can even add florals in between for a more dramatic look!
BE UPFRONT ABOUT YOUR BUDGET. There’s no use in being shy about the amount you’d like to spend on a wedding cake, so plan to discuss pricing either in the initial email or during an in-person meeting. If there’s a particular cake vendor you’d love to work with but think they may be out of your budget, don’t count them out just yet. In fact, there are plenty of ways to save money on a wedding cake and some vendors are happy to incorporate creative cost-saving techniques. Again, this is where it’s helpful to first determine your style so wedding cake vendors can give you an accurate quote rather than ballpark pricing.
RESEARCH THEIR WORK AND THEIR REVIEWS. In the age of social media, many wedding cake vendors have an Instagram or Facebook page to easily access photos of their past and current work. In addition, they may have a more extensive portfolio on their website or even a hard copy for you to flip through in their studio. As you review samples of their previous work, ask key questions about their experience, their licensing as a professional baker, and wedding day logistics of delivery and set-up. Be sure to search online for reviews and ask your other vendors if they would refer them. As much as reviews can be helpful, don’t take one bad review as your final decision maker. The term “bridezilla” is a real thing and some reviews may simply be that. If you see many reviews that are positive, that should be your final decision maker.
SCHEDULE A TASTING. You’ve asked all the right questions, and now it’s time to kick back and let your taste buds do the work! Most wedding cake vendors will provide you with a range of flavor options to sample so you can truly experience their work for yourself. Keep in mind that this in-person meeting is about more than just tasting, but also provides you with an opportunity to see if your personalities mesh well together. Pay attention to their communication style and ability to hear out your ideas, ensuring the collaboration process is a smooth one.
QUESTIONS TO ASK: Do you customize wedding cakes or do you offer set styles to choose from? What are the filling choices? How far in advance do I have to book my cake with you? How long have you been making wedding cakes? Do you offer gluten free or vegan Options? Do you offer cake tastings and is there a charge? What is the delivery process? How are wedding cakes priced? Is there an extra charge for certain designs, flavors or types of icing? What is your payment structure and when is the deposit due? What’s your cancellation and/ or rescheduling policy?

CATERING 101 You don’t want to procrastinate finding a wedding caterer, but you shouldn’t attempt to book one until you’ve come up with a rough guest count, booked a venue, set a date, and have decided on a general budget for food. Once you’ve checked those boxes, use this section, blissbridalmagazine.com, Google, and social media, to start your research! TCP Catering
A full-service wedding caterer does more than just serve tasty food. They don’t just cook; they also handle your plates, silverware, drinkware, provide the waitstaff (and often bartenders), serve the food on time, clean up the dining area and kitchen, pack up leftovers, and take away the garbage. When you’re calculating the price of traditional catering versus less traditional options, make sure you remember that a wedding caterer’s bill includes many things that you’ll have to pay for on your own if you go the DIY route. SEATED MEAL This is thought of as the most traditional wedding option, and it can also be the most expensive. While suited waiters bring a certain charm to your event, they also come with additional costs.
FAMILY-STYLE MEAL The family-style meal involves large platters of food served to each table and passed around, just like you would do at a holiday dinner. This is often cheaper than a meal served by waiters, but it can be more expensive than a buffet. You’ll still need a decent number of servers to make this happen, and you’ll need more food.
BUFFET MEAL
Let Us Do The Cooking
This can be the most affordable service option for serving a full meal. You still need a buffet to be staffed—someone needs to tidy it up and refresh the food as it runs out—but your staff-to-guests ratio is much lower. With that said, your food costs could be higher (because nobody likes an empty-looking buffet), so talk to your wedding caterer to figure out what service option will ultimately be the most cost-effective. If your wedding is large, make sure you have a good plan for crowd control. You’ll generally need one buffet line minimum per one hundred people.
BRUNCH OR LUNCH Although morning weddings can be cost-effective in various ways, the lunch or brunch meal doesn’t always save you the fortune that is sometimes promised. Lunch lets you skip the fancy dinner with fewer people noticing, and it will definitely lower your alcohol bill. But the food alone won’t tend to save you enough to justify moving your wedding to earlier in the day.
HEAVY APPETIZERS/COCKTAIL HOUR Here, you skip the expensive main courses, skip the pricey servers, and go hog wild on what are essentially snacks. Just make sure you have enough food to really fill people up (particularly if you’re also going to booze them up) and let the mixing and mingling begin! Your wedding invitations are your guests’ first peek into your wedding day, so you want to make them remarkable. Along with listing the location and time of day, the invitation hints at your wedding’s formality and style. Before you start searching for stationery, you should have an idea of the type of event you’re throwing- classic and elegant, casual and relaxed, or glamorous and modern before you start searching for stationery. Think about your wedding colors and incorporate them into your wedding invitations and the rest of your wedding paper, such as escort cards, menus, and ceremony programs for an adhesive look. As you consider colors and patterns, be sure to think about shape, size, and text. Be wary of hard to read fonts and colors that blend into the background.
Watson Weddings | Bear Moose & Fox
You will not need an invitation for every guest. Take a look at your guest list and figure out how many households need invitations before you give your stationer a number, as you may be able to cut your order in half. Be sure to order enough invitations for your guest list plus 25 extra if you need to resend an invitation or want some for keepsakes. Remember to order your menus, programs, RSVP cards, and thank you notes with your invitations. This way, you can include all pieces in one order and save time and money. It’s also an efficient way to ensure your stationery has a cohesive look. finding the perfect BEAUTY TEAM
We know you’re crazy busy choosing invitations, florists, bridesmaid dresses, and a honeymoon location, but don’t neglect one of the most important tasks of all- getting yourself looking and feeling great! More pictures will be taken of you on your wedding day than any other day of your life. So, how do you ensure you’ll be at your absolute best? First, keep in mind that how you look on your wedding day begins before that morning. Trust us, the results will be well worth it- plus taking a break from all those to-dos for a workout, or some pre-wedding pampering will help keep you sane. If you’re not much of a makeup person, and even if you are, and no matter how good you are, if you can fit it into your budget, you should hire a professional makeup artist and hairstylist for your wedding day. The best part... we have done the hard work for you and compiled the best in the area! Hair and Makeup by Be.You.Tiful Salon | Neva Michelle Photography
TRIAL RUNS Once you’ve booked your beauty professionals, schedule at least one trial run for wedding-day hair and/or makeup to test out different possibilities. Many professionals will charge a trial-run fee and then a separate wedding-day fee. Others will charge one price upfront and include a free trial run as part of the package. During your trial session, you will experiment with different hair and makeup looks. Before you arrive, gather pictures from magazines and social media to show the artist. Be sure to bring your earrings, veil, and headpiece to decide how they’ll fit with your look!
For “picture perfect” hair, never wash your hair the morning of your ceremony. Hair that has been washed at least 24 hours prior holds form of the style and prevents hair from going flat. -PHYLICIA GASTON, GLAM BY PHY

PRO ADVICE DO THEY HAVE A VARIETY OF DIFFERENT EXAMPLES OF WORK FOR YOU TO VIEW & IS IT DIVERSE? Avoid vendors who cannot readily produce a portfolio. You want to see various skin tones, ages, and hair types represented in their portfolio. This will ensure that the vendor is skilled enough to meet the needs of EVERYONE in your bridal party. WILL THEY TRAVEL TO YOUR LOCATION? ARE THERE FEES ASSOCIATED WITH TRAVEL? If you are planning to get ready at your venue, will your beauty team travel to you? Also, ask about the costs associated with this. DOES YOUR BEAUTY VENDOR OFFER A BRIDAL TRIAL? If a trial is offered, specify if this is a separate cost or included with the package. DOES THE MAKEUP ARTIST OFFER BOTH AIRBRUSH & TRADITIONAL MAKEUP? If airbrush makeup is your preference, make sure your makeup artist is skilled in this area. Read reviews and view their work.
Hair by Beauty by Kara Beth | Makeup by GLAM by Tammy Shefa Robin Rogers Photography
DOES YOUR HAIRSTYLIST OFFER HAIR EXTENSIONS OR CLIP-INS TO ACHIEVE YOUR DESIRED HAIRSTYLE? If you would like to add length or volume to your look, would this be something your vendor will assist with? Is there an additional charge? DOES YOUR BEAUTY VENDOR WORK SOLO OR BRING A TEAM? Wedding time goes by extremely quickly! If you have a larger bridal party, be sure that your vendor has assistance to ensure that everyone is ready on time. DOES YOUR MAKEUP ARTIST SUPPLY ALL PRODUCTS USED, OR DO THEY REQUIRE YOU TO PURCHASE THEM? Surprisingly, some makeup artists do not supply all makeup products. Some require you to purchase your own foundation or lashes. Please check to make sure what’s included in the price of your services. WHAT IS YOUR BEAUTY VENDOR’S POLICY FOR SANITATION AND COVID-19 PREVENTION? If the spread of germs and illness is a concern, discuss the sanitation procedures with your vendor. If you have specific things you would like implemented (artists wear masks, artists wear gloves, artists use throw-away tools), please specify. WHAT IS YOUR BEAUTY VENDOR’S POLICY FOR DAY-OF WEDDING ADD-ONS? Sometimes the members of bridal parties decide to join in on the fun at the last minute. Discuss with your vendor what their policy is about day-of-ceremony service add-ons.

TO ASK
Find a DJ or Musician who has plenty of experience or primary business is weddings. They will know the ins and outs of a wedding reception and will be great serving as the Emcee to make your wedding announcements and how to keep a wedding crowd going! Once you’ve made your DJ or Musician selection, ask to hear examples of their work. This can be a live performance or a video. A bridal show is also a great way to hear them in person! Give your DJ your playlist and your “do not play” list. If you have your heart set on a playlist, let your DJ know as soon as you meet to make sure they are willing to follow it. You may also want to create a “do not play” list to avoid any unpleasant surprises. Heaven forbid “your song” you shared with your ex is played at the reception. Ask if they have experience working in your venue. If not, will they will be taking care of making sure they have everything needed for their equipment? Will they be using lighting or other special effects or is that an add on? Besides music, some DJ’s and Musicians may bring lighting and or other effects like fog machines. Most offer it but it’s not included in their basic packages. How many hours are included in the package? You will want to know this as it will determine when your party might have to end or you may need to adjust your reception time or pay for more hours. How do they make sure that the volume is comfortable for all guests? Let’s be honest, What your 18-year-old cousin thinks is the perfect volume is different from what your 75-year-old grandpa is willing to put up with. Maybe making sure you have a table set away from the speakers for those guests that loud noise maybe an issue. What’s your cancellation Policy? If you change your date, if there is a shutdown, what are the terms? Can you move your date? Will you lose your deposit?
Let’s be honest – Music is everything when it comes to your wedding. From the way it makes your guests and even more importantly (you) feel when you walk down the aisle, to the vibe of your reception. It’s no secret music can make or break a party which means your music vendors need to be one of your top priorities when planning your wedding reception. First, you need to figure out the style of wedding and vibe you are wanting. If you are going for a more elegant affair, hiring someone like Gretchen Williams, Central Texas’ premier wedding harpist to play while walking down the aisle or during cocktail hour would be a perfect fit! Or, if you are looking for a DJ– hiring one of our preferred DJ’s like Ceremony Masters, Wall Of Sound, G-Fire Productions, or K&S Entertainment will keep the party dancing all night long! Your wedding DJ is one way you can make sure your guests have a blast while also adding your own personal touch to the event. Here are a few tips to keep in mind when hiring a wedding DJ or Musician.

honeymoons
DURING COVID-19
IS IT SAFE TO TRAVEL FOR A HONEYMOON? Safe is a relative term. What I might feel safe or comfortable doing, the next person may not. I recommend that my clients assess their comfort levels and decide from there. When traveling, practice precautions and social distancing, just like you would at home. IS THERE HONEYMOON INSURANCE OR PROTECTION OPTIONS IN CASE OF A SHUT DOWN OR A BRIDE OR GROOM GET COVID? Travel protection plans vary by supplier, but many are implementing COVID policies. This definitely gives us piece of mind to travel during this time. ARE THERE ANY INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL OPTIONS RIGHT NOW? IF SO, ARE THERE RESTRICTIONS OR REQUIREMENTS? International travel is slowly but surely opening up and welcoming back travelers. Mexico and many Caribbean countries are anxious for our return. Some islands require negative COVID tests to enter, others do not. WHAT ARE YOUR RECOMMENDATIONS FOR A TROPICAL HONEYMOON, EVEN IF YOU DON’T FEEL COMFORTABLE TRAVELING INTERNATIONALLY? I think this is a great time to discuss the idea of a delayed honeymoon. Though there are many U.S. based options, our tropical destinations are limited. Hawaii has more stringent requirements, but it’s not impossible. DO YOU FIND THAT MORE COUPLES ARE PLANNING DOMESTIC HONEYMOONS RIGHT NOW? OR ARE MOST POSTPONING THEIR BIG HONEYMOON PLANS? I have found that couples are anxious to travel and resume some form of normalcy. With that, Mexico has been a popular honeymooning destination for late 2020 and 2021. It is easy to get to, travel restrictions aren’t as strict, yet the tourist areas have done a great job of keeping their numbers in check.
Have you heard of a Mini-Moon or First-Moon Trip? Us either… but thanks to COVID- 19 throwing a huge wrench into everyone’s 2020 honeymoon plans, we are now learning this is a “thing” for many engaged couples. Some were forced to cancel, postpone or change their original honeymoon plans for a smaller mini-honeymoon, in some cases, postponing until 2021. As we are closing out 2020, the shutdowns have seized (for the most part), and although our new normal has become masks, hand sanitizers, and temp checks -honeymoons and weddings must still go on! While it may feel like finding the perfect honeymoon destination during COVID-19 is more complicated than finding true love, we are here to tell you it doesn’t have to be. With a bit of flexibility and creativity – couples
have options. We know the internet makes it seem easy to plan vacations, but you might want to think twice when trying to plan your honeymoon - especially in these times. Nothing is worse than going to a city with everything shut down or heaven forbid, there is a shutdown and you lose all of your money. We interviewed Discovereighng With Dana Lewis, our go-to travel agent here at Bliss Bridal Magazine. Dana helps so many brides and grooms go on the honeymoon of their dreams, even while navigating this new “normal.” Because travel is so uncertain right now, we interviewed Dana about her take on honeymoons during COVID-19 times. Here is what she had to say…
Another trend I’m seeing with my clients is a delayed honeymoon. Couples are scheduling their honeymoons for their one-year anniversary, or for a few weeks after their wedding giving them time to quarantine from the celebration before traveling. ARE CRUISES AN OPTION RIGHT NOW? IF NOT, WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND TO COUPLES WHO REALLY WANT TO GO ON ONE FOR THEIR HONEYMOON? Cruising is currently not an option, and my prediction is that it won’t be for another 6 months to a year. I’d recommend chatting with your travel designer to discuss why cruising is of interest to you, what other options might also suit you, and/or plan a delayed honeymoon.
“Have an honest conversation with your fiancé, assess your comfort level, and don’t travel without insurance!” -DANA LEWIS, DISCOVEREIGHNG WITH DANA

IN HER WORDS. . . "Karla McNeill was without a doubt the best decision I made when it came down to choosing a wedding planner. Karla takes pride in her work and she did everything in her power to make sure my wedding day and planning leading up to the wedding were as stress free as possible. One of the most helpful things Karla did was provide my husband and me with a preferred vendor list that consisted of vendors she's worked with in the past that she knew would be able to make my wedding vision come to life. We ended up hiring every vendor she recommended and every one of them were ecstatic to be part of our day and work with Karla. Everyone worked so well together and everything came together perfectly for our wedding day. Karla exceeded every one of our expectations and she helped our dream wedding come to life. Her creativity, designing talent and attention to detail make her who she is and her personality and "get it done" mentality set her above the rest." "We had the most wonderful experience working with the staff at HighPointe Estate. Dawson was so wonderful to work with and was always open to hearing about new ideas and designs that Karla and I would throw at him. My husband and I also decided to have our florals done through HighPointe Estate, so we had several meetings leading up to the wedding. I was all over the place with my floral vision, but Dawson and his team listened to everything I wanted and was able to deliver the most beautiful floral arrangements I'd ever seen. They went above and beyond to give my husband and I the perfect wedding and we wouldn't change a thing about our special day." 146

IN HER WORDS. . . "Karla McNeil was absolutely the most amazing event coordinator and designer. She took all of our ideas and made them into a reality. She is professional, fun and VERY organized. She was always readily available and easily accessible for advice and guidance throughout the entire wedding planning process. There is nothing she overlooks and she offers great insight when asking for any suggestions. Every time I would talk to her, she would always ease my stressful mind. The day of our wedding was beautiful, flawless, and stress free. It was the best day of our life. Choosing Karla McNeil for our wedding coordinator/designer will forever be one of the best decisions we made." "Chris at Confetti’s Rentals was amazing to work with. IN HER WORDS. . . "Allison from Pendley was such a pleasure to work with. Being that our original wedding plans in California fell through because of Covid, we had a grand total of 60 days to plan an entirely new wedding. I couldn’t believe how seamless the entire process was! I had a very specific vision and considering that the clock was ticking, I was very unsure that I would get to have my dream wedding on such short notice. However, they truly knocked it out of the park! They came to our new venue on a weeks’ notice, understood my vision, respected my budget and within days we had it all locked down. The wedding was more beautiful than I could have ever imagined! Allison and the staff at Pendley are complete pros in all aspects; planning, set up, break down….they went above and beyond! She not only met our expectations, but she went above and beyond to exceed them. When it came to the decorations, I gave her a general idea of what I like/ dislike and from that she was able to make my dream a reality. As a surprise, I wasn’t allowed to peak at anything until right before the ceremony. The Flowers completely filled the entire venue from every corner of the floor to the wooden beams and chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. One of the things I absolutely loved the most was the euphoric feeling from being surrounded by an abundance of such elegant and stunning arrangements. I’ve received SO many compliments about how it felt like a fairytale!" "G Fire Productions did a great job when it came to his role in facilitating the flow of events, engaging with our guest and of course setting the mood! He played all the right songs/types of music at all the right times. He knows what songs to play to get everyone dancing. The pure fun everyone experienced while dancing on the dance floor was one of my favorite memories of the night!" 158

"Cuppiecakes of Waco was everything we could have hoped for! The cake was not something that we had put much thought into and were very open to just about anything. I had a photo off Pinterest and that was it. On our wedding day, Cuppiecakes delivered a cake that was WAYY better than my Pinterest image and tasted absolutely, amazing. We got so many compliments from guests! We can't wait to eat the top tier on our first wedding anniversary!" "After canceling our destination wedding, my mind couldn't seem to visualize what our new wedding plans would look like. I knew that finding a dress would help me, but I had no idea what I wanted. Main Street Bridal guided me through what I wanted and what I didn't want. Eventually helping me find the absolute perfect dress! After I found the one, I could really visualize our perfect day and I had my 'say yes to the dress' moment. On my wedding day, the dress fit perfectly, and I felt beautiful, even in a face mask. I could not be more thankful for their guidance!" BLISS WEDDING PROS

IN HER WORDS. . . "It was important for my mother and my stepdad for me to have the wedding gown of my dreams. Although they own their own bridal store, they encouraged me to go to other bridal stores to find my dream wedding gown. The gowns at Main Street Bridal are gorgeous. I was able to have the bridal experience and this very special moment with my family at my bridal appointment. There was no reason for me to shop elsewhere especially with the gorgeous gowns at Main Street Bridal." "If you’re planning a wedding or event and require anything from flatware to backdrops you must go to Confetti Rentals. We had the opportunity to meet with Chris and Karla McNeil to assist us with securing rental items. They have the best inventory and have many selections and options to choose from each category." "Cinderella Films did a phenomenal job in capturing all the special moments in the most important day of our lives. They are professional, knowledgeable and so easy to work with. Travis and the team are passionate about their work and are committed to pleasing the brides and families entrusted in their care." "The expertise, design, service and creations from the owner and her team at Branch & Bloom surpass the rest. Jayci and her team create beautiful & unique floral works of art. We especially love that they utilize florals and greenery that are outside of the box. Although she traveled three hours to get to our location, the florals were fresh and perky. I showed this poor lady hundreds of different photos and somehow she was still able to capture my vision! Lily was my planner and provided the cakes from Lily’s Cakes. Her cakes were so delicious and she made my day a little more special and unique by giving my groom his dream cake (a Dallas Cowboys Cake!) I got my dress from a local bridal shop here in Belton, Texas and it was the best decision. I tried on every dress in that shop it felt like, but the lady insisted I try on this dress and I immediately fell in love! So unique and flattering and special because it’s from my home town. "The moment I walked into The Grove on Brushy Creek I knew it was the perfect place for our wedding. I had looked at several other venues that were beautiful, but just didn't feel like the right fit. I could imagine flowing greenery falling from the exposed beams and the outdoor patio with a creekside view was so dreamy. The Grove checked every single box!
