BLOOMSBURY CHILDREN’S BOOKS • NEW TITLES • JANUARY – JUNE 2016

Back cover artwork is taken from Captain Pug Written By Laura James and illustrated by Eglantine Ceulemans

Dear readers

This spring, our fiction list is packed with a glorious explosion of illustrated younger

titles. Meet Alexander McCall Smith’s utterly charming Freddie Mole, Lion Tamer, with joyful pictures by Kate Hindley. We’re all smitten with the not-quite fearless Captain Pug, written by Laura James and illustrated by Eglantine Ceulemans. There’s more uproarious silliness from Michael Rosen and Neal Layton in Uncle Gobb and the Green Heads and the witches of Sinkville return in Sibéal Pounder’s Witch Watch, with deliciously witchy pictures by Laura Ellen Anderson. The joy of illustration is at the heart of our brilliant picture book list, and this catalogue gives you a sneak preview of The Beginner’s Guide to Bearspotting, a superbly witty story from Michelle Robinson and David Roberts. We have a reassuring hug of a book in Kiss It Better from Smriti Prasadam-Halls and Sarah Massini, and a perfectly pitched exploration of fibbing in The Truth According to Arthur from Tim Hopgood and David Tazzyman. We also have amazing books for older readers, including new novels from Carnegie shortlisted Brian Conaghan and Nick Lake, and an emotional depth-charge of a novel from Emery Lord with When We Collided. And for those left swooning by A Court of Thorns and Roses, Sarah J. Maas’s alluring fae world returns in May.
