Bloomsbury Publishing Plc,
Dear readers Welcome to our catalogue for July – December 2014. You’ll find that these pages are packed with enchantment, magic and adventure for readers of all ages, but this season is particularly auspicious, because we are unveiling a very dramatic transformation for the world’s most famous boy wizard. It’s a tremendous privilege to be the publisher of the book that broke all records, reinvented all the rules and forged the reading lives of millions of children (not to mention adults). It’s also a great responsibility – I can’t think of another book that generates such passion among such a wide range of readers. We wanted a new jacket that would lead a whole new generation to discover the
Harry Potter magic for themselves, where it started, in J.K. Rowling’s brilliant books. So we commissioned new cover illustrations from the award-winning
Jonny Duddle. The day we saw Jonny’s first cover image for Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, we could feel the magic in the room. You’ll see that Harry is unmistakable – he looks very different, and yet still 100% recognisable in the bold, atmospheric and utterly irresistible new cover images. We are only revealing one new jacket in this catalogue – you’ll have to wait to see the rest. And the transformation is not limited to the jackets; we’ve redesigned the interiors to make them friendlier on the page, added bonus material, and there will be an unmissable marketing campaign to look forward to. It’s time to
pass the magic on . . .
