PRINCIPAL’S REPORT ULTRANET TRAINING DAY Unfortunately the Ultranet was not operational for much of the pupil free day on Monday and consequently our staff were not able to engage in many practical activities on t he Ult ranet . This was unfortunate. However, with the support of our regional staff we had in place a contingency plan of alternative professional development activities. Hopefully the issues with the Ultranet will be resolved shortly.

Traceye Rapinett will join our Principal Class Leadership team as an Acting Assistant Principal for this time. Meenu Bhuvan will replace Traceye as the class teacher for 3/4R while Traceye is filling the Acting Assistant Principal role. Meenu has worked extensively as a CRT at our school this year and I am sure that she will be an excellent short term replacement for Traceye. As I will be overseas during my leave, this means that I will miss the football finals – F O R just when Collingwood looks like having a real chance for the flag!

NEW FURNITURE CLASSROOMS We are trialling a new set of student tables and chairs in grade 3/4R for the remainder of this year. These tables and chairs are different to our existing classroom furniture in a variety of ways – they are designed to improve both the comfort and practicality of purpose for students. I have spoken with the children, informing them that their feedback to me on the tables and chairs, will guide decisions we make as to whether we purchase more sets of this type of furniture in the future. I will keep you informed. LONG SERVICE LEAVE Next Wednesday I will be taking four weeks of Long Service Leave and Lynne Brenner will be your Acting Principal for the remainder of term 3.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ’s) Q. What will happen to the Collins Crescent car park when our new building is constructed there? A. It will disappear! There will be a small number of car park places available, however these will be for staff who work in the building. QUOTABLE QUOTE

ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS’ REPORT RITCHIES COMMUNITY BENEFIT PROGRAM Ritchies Supermarkets have advised us of changes to their Community Benefit Program. This change involves a reduction in the percentage of community benefit donations to 0.5% of money spent by cardholders, effective from 1st September 2010. They explain that these changes have been made to comply with the wishes of the majority of their customers wanting cheaper prices in the store. They remind us that the more people nominating our school, the more money we are likely to receive each month. For example, 20 people spending $25 a week to qualify for a monthly donation of $10. Community Benefit Cards can be obtained from the check outs at any IGA store.

3-4 at 7:00PM and Grades 5-6 at 8:15PM. Each of the sessions will run for one hour. It was advertised that these sessions would be held in the OHSC building but to avoid clashes with the After School Care Program they will now take place in our staff room. Please enter through the main administration entrance. We highly recommend these Family Life Sessions, which have been very successful in previous years, to all families. The experienced and highly trained educators provide excellent support to parents as they discuss issues of sexuality with their children. A range of books will be available for parents to purchase on the night. If families have not yet returned their forms but would like to attend please contact the office.

FAMILY LIFE SESSIONS Families are reminded that the Family Life sessions will be held on the evening of Wednesday 18th August. These sessions on the topic of ‘Human Sexuality’ are designed for specific year levels: Grades 1-2 at 5:45PM, Grades
