PRINCIPAL’S REPORT BER UPDATE Well, at last work has commenced. Currently the underground services (stormwater and sewerage drains) that cross directly beneath where our new building is to be constructed are being redirected. This work should be completed by early next week, after which construction on our building will commence. As you may have noticed, the drop off area in Collins Crescent has disappeared because of worksite needs. We have asked the City of Casey to investigate whether an alternative temporary drop off area in Collins Crescent can be made available while the construction works continues. As yet we have not been contacted back on this matter. Personally, I doubt that such an area can be made available simply because the existing crossing in Collins Crescent and short distance to Mansfield Street may not allow for a temporary drop off zone to be created for us. We‘ll keep our fingers crossed however! On another note, please be mindful of the parking rules in Collins Crescent when dropping off or picking up your children. The City of Casey Bylaws Officers regularly patrol our streets, particularly when temporary changes to road usage conditions apply. It would be quite annoying to find yourself being booked!

GRADE 6 CLASSBOOK DVD & WHOLE SCHOOL YEARBOOK DVD INITIATIVE (OPTIONAL) We have introduced an optional purchase for families for next year – details are contained in the Student Requisites & Parent Contributions 2011 forms that are being sent home today. Timedia are trialling this very interesting concept at our school, with families being under no obligation to purchase either the Grade 6 Classbook DVD or the whole school Yearbook DVD. Children currently in Grade 5 will be bringing home a short DVD for parents to use to inform their decision as to whether they wish to purchase a Grade 6 Classbook DVD in 2011. We have met with Timedia representatives and are trialling these two purchases because there might be interest for them amongst our community. The quality of the finished product is very impressive – I can say that. It‘s up to you whether you wish to buy the DVD‘s. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ’s) Q. If I get booked for illegal parking in Collins Crescent while work is being undertaken on our BER project there can the school help me in any way? A. The short answer is no and I‘ll leave it to you with respect to the long answer.

parents provide their children with an appropriate lock so that their precious bikes and scooters are more secure. Although we try to provide security for the housing of bikes and scooters we cannot take responsibility if they are lost or stolen. We have put in place some procedures in an effort to reduce the incidence of vandalism by locking the gates of the bike shed overnight.

in preparation for the 2011 school year.

A MESSAGE FOR OUR BIKE/ SCOOTER RIDERS In recent weeks we have had difficulty with vandalism of our bike shed. Some days this has resulted in the bike shed remaining open until such time as repairs could be completed.
