Hola
Hello
WELCOME
Your school or office is one of many in the International Schools Partnership. The word partnership in our name is very important to us. Above anything else, it says that we all work together in partnership. This document, Together. In Partnership., sets out as simply as possible how we do this. Whether you have been with ISP for quite a while or whether you have only recently joined us, this document provides you with an introduction to how we work Together. In Partnership.

THE BIG PICTURE
With the exception of new-builds, all schools at ISP have had a long and successful history before joining ISP. We are really pleased that our schools have good reputations in local communities and are already doing some very good things. At ISP we have much to learn from one another and we help each other get even better. We all have access to our shared expertise – whether that be in our schools, regional offices or head office. That’s what partnership means for us. When we talk about how our partnership works at ISP, we talk about the 80:20. The 80% is the freedom you have to organise your schools in a way that meets the needs of your local community. Nobody else can know the local communities quite as well as you do. And so quite rightly our schools have most of the responsibility for responding to those communities and serving their needs. But, of course, we’d all like our schools to share some things. So, say, something that goes on in Costa Rica which is also applicable in the US or any other of our locations, then that is something that can and should be shared. And that’s the 20%. The 20% is the things that we share, which become the ISP things rather than the local community things. And as well, the things which go on in offices, whether that is in London or regionally, is also part of the 20%. The 80:20 acts as a guide for describing how we work and recognises our shared contributions to the partnership.

OUR STORY
We are a growing group of committed colleagues in financially responsible schools around the world, all of which aim to be the School of Choice in their local area. Learning is at the heart of everything we do for our students, colleagues and parents. We are committed to getting better, all the time. At ISP, we have a number of things that we think are important. We want: •
all of our schools to be places where our students do well (amazingly well!);
•
our families to talk about us with pride and commitment; and
•
our colleagues to enjoy working at ISP and to help each other get better.
We’ve set out what matters to us in our Vision, Purposes and Principles.

KEY BENEFITS OF BEING PART OF ISP
Through being a member of our partnership, our schools have significant benefits over other standalone competitor schools.
Access to critical friends and advisors At different times, we use our shared expertise to get even better. Through being a member of the partnership, we receive the support of critical friends and advisors – a benefit which standalone schools do not receive.
English language English is the language of science, aviation, computers, diplomacy and international communication. In a world where English is increasingly used as the first-choice international language, being part of a global schools group with English language expertise and opportunities for non-native speakers to improve their English language skills is a valuable benefit for our students to take with them into their future.

Learning. First. – The ISP Learning Approach We have a tried, tested and well-thought-out student-focused approach to improving learning in our schools. Our approach sees schools focusing on 13 improvement areas that affect learning. A significant part of this approach, which is unique to ISP, sees schools look at our learning effectiveness and collect data to help our teachers improve continuously. Few schools globally undertake such learning observations.
Investment in schools We are a strong, financially stable group of schools and are able to provide sustained investment. We have the resources to improve the look and feel of our schools in different ways.
Cultural international learning experiences Increasingly, our students across the world have chances to meet and interact with each other, often face-to-face but digitally, too. Through our Model United Nations, our Buddy Exchanges, Summer Camps and more, our students can heighten their awareness of other cultures and deepen their understanding of the world.
The Learning Hub We are building a digital collaboration platform that provides structured professional development, facilitates collaboration, shares best practice and helps build a global ISP community.
Global opportunities for colleagues Our colleagues in all areas of ISP have similar opportunities to work with and learn from colleagues across the world and, if desired, to develop an international career path. They can do this face-face or online through The Learning Hub.. Our internationally mobile families have the chance for their children to learn within one school group, without constant changes impeding their progress.
