Two tours will take place on each tour date, the First starting at 1:30 pm. and the Second starting at 3 pm. The 1:30 tour begins with a walking Tour of the sight and concludes in our auditorium at 3 pm. with a 30 minute presentation by a LIGO Hanford scientist or engineer. The 3:00 pm. tour begins with the presentation in the Auditorium and then is followed by the walking tour commencing at 3:30. Walking tours take About 1 hr. On your tour you will visit the “overpass” where you can see both arms of the Interferometer stretching 4km (2.5 miles) off into the distance, get close to samples of the laser beam vaccum tube its protective concrete enclosure, and step inside the control room, where You will learn more about how our remarkable instrument works. Outside the auditorium, you will see many interactive and static displays and exhibits, including a full-scale engineering model of the “quad suspension” that is so critical to LOGO’s success. Tours last 1.5 to 2 hours. Admission is FREE, no reservations are required. Photographs are welcome so don’t forget your camera. APRIL Outdoor Activities Get your kids outside to enjoy nature. Plan a camping trip at Horn Rapids RV Resort in Richland. This campground features a game area with volleyball and shuffleboard, as well as a large playground area for the kids to play. A swimming pool and hot tub is right on the grounds. This 284 acre park has 9100 feet of fresh water shoreline, a children’s playground and features the Sacajawea Interpretive Center. Inside you’ll find interactive displays that teach kids about the Lewis and Clark Expedition through the eyes of Sacajawea. Animals you might spot inside of the park include deer, elk, geese, rabbits and squirrels. Spring Break for Tri-Cities School Districts April 3rd thru April 7th.
