2011-2012 Minnesota Educational Policy Fellowship Program (EPFP) Fellow The 2011-2012 Fellowship had as a primary focus the state and federal policy development and the leadership that is necessary to influence policy development. It was designed to expand and update working knowledge of state and federal policy design, enactment and implementation. Minnesota EPFP is a partnership of the Washington D.C. based Institute for Educational Leadership (IEL) and the Minnesota based Center for Policy Studies (CPS). Both organizations are non-partisan, non-profit, 501(c) (3) organizations.


2011-2012 Minnesota Educational Policy Fellowship Program (EPFP) Minnesota EPFP is a partnership of the Washington D.C. based Institute for Educational Leadership (IEL) and the Minnesota based Center for Policy Studies (CPS). Both organizations are non-partisan, non-profit, 501(c) (3) organizations. This is the second year that the Center for Policy Studies has served as the Minnesota partner with IEL. For the first 34 years of the Fellowship the College of Education at the University of Minnesota was the Minnesota based partner. The first year of the Fellowship was 1975-76. Since then 426 Fellows have completed this unique policy experience. They form an important network in Minnesota and the nation. The 2011-2012 Fellowship has as a primary focus on state and federal policy development and the leadership that is necessary to influence policy development. It is designed to expand and update working knowledge of state and federal policy design, enactment and implementation. Twice Monthly Dinner Seminars and the Minnesota and Washington Policy Seminars The twice-monthly dinner seminars were the backbone of the Fellowship, designed to give the Fellows an up close and personal experience that included discussions and conversations with key members of the executive and legislative branch and their staff. Together, the Fellows travel to Washington D.C. for an up close and behind the scenes look at national policy and the machinations and functions of the federal government. The Learning Model The Fellowship’s instructional process was experiential.
