and Augsburg College. Built on the GEMS model. Created logic models and programmatic structure, secured funding from foundations and benefactors and managed multiple budgets. Principally funded by Cargill Foundation, NASA Space Grant, Best Buy Foundation, ADC Foundation, Mortenson Family Foundation, and Lockheed Martin Corporation. Created and coordinated partnerships within the STEM community and higher education. Collected and analyzed short-term growth data.

1997-2006

GEMS - Girls in Engineering, Mathematics & Science, Minneapolis, Minnesota Founder, Director Collaborative program supported by the Minneapolis Public Schools, Achieve Minneapolis,

Principally funded by Medtronic STAR Grants, NASA Space Grant, Best Buy Foundation, Carolyn Foundation, ADC Foundation, Mortenson Family Foundation, and Lockheed Martin Corporation. Created and coordinated partnerships within the STEM community and higher education. Collected and analyzed short- and long-term growth data on c. 800 girls. GEMS has served as a paradigm of best practices and has been disseminated broadly. Most recently, the model has been advanced by a National Science Foundation grant.

2004, 2005

Escuela Campo Alegre International School hosted the Annual Association of American Schools in South America and featured innovative STEM initiatives. Trained 15 technology and science managers from various counties in South America.

NASA Robotics, Richmond Virginia, Kansas City, Missouri, Dallas, Texas Contracted Consultant Symposiums to support NASA Explorer Schools. Collaborative organizations included Human Factors and Robotics Engineer, NASA Johnson Space Flight Center and US Space & Rocket Center (Space Camp), Huntsville, Alabama.

2003

NASA Explorer School, Anwatin/Bryn Mawr, Minneapolis, Minnesota Consultant Founding team coordinator and grant writer. The NASA Explorer Schools Project is NASA’s

classroom-based gateway for middle and high school students that provides authentic learning experiences designed around NASA’s unique missions while promoting student engagement in science, technology, engineering and mathematics based on NASA’s resources.

2002 - 2003

US Space & Rocket Center, Space Camp, Huntsville, Alabama Contracted Consultant Led the programme design and installation of the International Space Station robotics challenge at the US Space & Rocket Center. The initiative included training Space Camp staff as well as developing training modules. Joint venture: NASA, Space Camp, and LEGO.

Enacted by Congress in 1983, the program authorizes the President to bestow awards each year.

1998 National Board Professional Teaching Standards Certification Recognizes effective and accomplished teachers who meet high standards. As part of the certification process, can-

didates complete 10 assessments in their certificate areas. The assessments include four portfolio entries that feature teaching practice and six constructed response exercises that assess content knowledge.
