Dear Sir/Madam Awarded MA in Architecture from University of Miami in May and issued the EAD Card recently, I am writing to see if I could have an honor to make my contribution to your organization as either an intern or employee. Two years in University of Miami, I finished my postgraduate courses with a sound record. On top of that, extra activities I involved greatly benefited me by enhancing my ability to work in real world. Being a TA for my professor, for example, I could have discussions with them about students’ questions and opinions almost twice a week, which gave me a superb opportunity to learn from those talent professors in a different angle as well as improve many skills in talking with different people and solving problems. My postgraduate school focuses on the sustainable design and I have done five projects during my study, all of them are related to green building or sustainable methods. I made a huge improvement in accumulating and practicing the sustainable means. At the same time, I prefer to use natural ways to control the function rather than the technology skills. In addition, design with module structures is another good way that I usually use in the design - it has a better performance in saving time and money. In 2011, I was invited as a designer by Miami-Dade College to design Chinese pavilion for the “Miami Book Fair International”, one of the most magnificent events in America. The host decided to have “Chinese culture” as the theme of the book fair and hoped to introduce a “new traditional image of Chinese culture”. In the whole procedure of designing, I managed to meet with the executives every week expressing my idea with them, and they gave me suggestions from American perspective. Since the time was so limited and there was no budget for expensive electronic equipments, I had to consider all of the aspects in the prescribed place, including the security and the lighting system. But this did not prevent me from adding Chinese element into the book fair. During the book fair, thousands of people visited the Chinese pavilion. Most of them left a positive opinion after their tour. This is the first time that I played a role as a designer from the beginning of a real project, and designed almost all the details for that. Moreover, this is the first time that I cooperate with Americans, and was highly appreciated by both of the owners and the users.
