Designer of China Pavillion, Miami International Book Fair for Miami-Dade College Aug 2011--Nov 2011 Miami Book Fair International is the largest literary festival in the country. The eight-day book party draws hundreds of thousands of book lovers to downtown Miami each November for a festival of everything read and written. Appointed as a part-time designer at only 3 months before the opening, and the only documentation is the size of the pavilion. This is the first time that the book fair focused on Asian culture, and the book fair was considered as the bridge of understanding with a country and a culture which is as vibrant, complex, and sometimes contradictory as any other on the planet. As the main pavilion, it needs to maximize the amount of cultural information about China as well as to reflect the Chinese culture in a way that Americans comprehend. That requires the ability of comprehending both of the two cultures and the innovation after professional study. Also, since the pavilion could not afford much high-tech equipment, the arrangement of the visiting sequence, the feeling of the visitors, the lighting effect on daytime and night, the security consideration and the emergency evacuation circulation need to be considered well. After communicating with the event committee, the design of the pavilion was highly appreciated. During the event, it won considerable positive feedback from millions of visitors.
