'The Agency of Community Culture' – Promoting Cultural rights’
Blue Drum and The Equality Rights Alliance invite you to:
'The Agency of Community Culture' – Promoting Cultural rights’ When : Wednesday 28 May, What time: 10:45am to 1pm Where: EU Commission Offices, Molesworth St. Dublin 2 Cultural rights are often described as the ‘neglected’ or ‘under-developed’ category of human rights. Why is this so? How can we change it? The Convention on the Constitution has voted to afford greater Constitutional protection to Economic, Social and Cultural rights .It is timely, therefore, to reflect on what we mean by ‘cultural rights’, how we in civil society can work cross-sectorally to realise those rights, and how new models of cultural rights could be developed. In this deliberative process we will explore: - What do we understand by ‘cultural rights’? - How can cultural rights be made more visible and be accorded greater status? - How can community activists and cultural workers work together to give vitality to new models of cultural rights? - What levers exist to advance cultural rights?
