It is one thing to occupy a legacy and quite another to embody it. What we get to call our home and workplace is a footprint established long, long ago. The physical mold was set ages ago back by the powerful hands of geology while the farming history was jump started by European immigrants, drawn to the region in the 19th Century.

What’s planted here has changed over the generations but no matter the crop, it has always yielded a sense of awe and wonder. You detect an Old World-ness as soon as you set foot on Blue Rock Vineyard, expressed by the distinctive wines we grow as well as the sensation you feel when you arrive at our scenic hideaway.

We are fortunate to inhabit an estate overflowing with singularity. This corner of the Alexander Valley feels different.

It’s what brought Villa Maria Winey here in 1880, where it flourished until Prohibition rattled the industry. It’s why Kenny and Cheryl launched Blue Rock here in 1987, wholly consumed by the place. The awe and wonder remain and influences what we do today-the farming, winemaking and hospitality. Our ongoing vision is a finish line always on the horizon.

At Blue Rock, the estate comes first. We put our 100-acre site on a pedestal, where we can enjoy its beauty and tend to its details. A permanent crew looks after our vineyard, allowing for unparalleled closeness with the land and meticulous, vine-by-vine viticulture.

Our hospitality team doesn’t conduct tastings, it curates retreats. The wines are made in a fashion that’s both hands-off and revealing, demonstrating just how unique the estate is.

Named after the magnesium-rich serpentine rocks that dot the vineyard, Blue Rock Vineyard specializes in estate Bordeaux wines. The 40-acre vineyard is planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Syrah and farmed regeneratively to amplify the estate’s remarkable voice. Boasting a unique aspect and dramatic diurnal shift, the vineyard produces wines of elegance and restraint true to its origin. And Blue Rock’s uncompromising DNA means those qualities carry seamlessly all the way to the bottle.

On the grounds, you’ll find the kind of sustainability that ensures longevity. You’ll find harmony through biodiversity and naturally-pampered soils—bugs and birds in place of sprays, compost in lieu of fertilizer. In our winery and at our table, you’ll find an unhurried pace and a steadfast commitment to our surroundings.
