The new Envision Center. Providing SW Michigan’s first full spectrum Autism Treatment Program. When it comes to autism, there is no single right answer. Autism is a complex developmental disability that effects each child differently. Treatment, therefore, needs to be comprehensive. It needs to address every child’s needs—from those mildly affected to those facing severe developmental challenges. Until recently, a family seeking care in the Southwest Michigan area has had limited options. This all changes with the new Envision Center; a comprehensive autism treatment program brought to you by Southwest Regional Rehabilitation Center (SRRC) and Summit Pointe.
son desperately wanted friends but “ Our didn’t know how to make them. He was an isolated, lonely child. The Envision Center gave him the tools to navigate the social world. It’s a miracle.

Many Questions. One Answer. What is the face of today’s autistic child? 83% of children with ASD are boys. 81% are white. But whatever their race or sex, children with autism live lives set apart. They have difficulty communicating and connecting with others. They struggle to form the everyday social bonds most of us take for granted. It’s a frustrating, often lonely, existence. But it doesn’t have to be this way.
A timely solution to a growing problem. The incidence of autism is on the rise. At SRRC, we’ve noticed a dramatic increase in the number of people, especially children, diagnosed with the disability in our area. In fact, one in 110 children are estimated to have an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Unfortunately, treatment had not kept up with the need, until now. At the new Envision Center, families living with autism can now find hope close to home. They can find the proper treatment to address the specific challenges their child faces. They can access the very best care, delivered by experienced, trusted professionals who understand the many aspects of autism. Best of all, they can access this comprehensive care right in SW Michigan, under one roof, close to home and family.
At the Envision Center, we treat the broad range of ASD:
• Classic Autism: Considered the most severe type of ASD. People with Classic Autism have severe difficulty interacting socially. They often show no affection and shun emotional and physical contact with others. • Aspergers Syndrome: A person with Aspergers can exhibit a variety of characteristics and the disorder can range from mild to severe. Children show deficiencies in social skills. They compulsively cling to rituals, getting upset to any change in their routines. They also have great difficulty in reading body language and social cues. • Child Disintegrative Disorder: Children impacted by this start to regress between the ages of two and four. Their communications skills, social behavior, and fine motor skills can all be impacted. • Rett Syndrome: Occurs mostly in females and is characterized by poor head growth. Early symptoms include loss of muscle tone, problems crawling and diminished eye contact. • Pervasive Developmental Disorder (Not Otherwise Specified): This includes people who exhibit many or all different types of ASD and do not fit within any of the disorders
