MARDIANA SANI MELBOURNE / mardianasani.com
How Long Have You Been A Photographer? 4 years Favorite City To Shoot? Marrakech How Do You Describe Your Photographic Style? I intend for it to be initially striking to pull the viewers attention and then
somehow melancholic for it to linger in their minds subsequently. I believe everyone has a dark side in their closet and that’s the part I’d like to get to. What Kind Of Equipment Do You Use? Canon 5D Mark II, Phase One with digital backs borrowed from studio and Hasselblad 500c lent to me by friends. Who Are Your Influences? Nobody in particular. But I’m heavily influenced by paintings, music and film that revolve around an emotional theme. Are There Any Emerging Photographers Who You Admire? Rayyiu Radzi, James Mauger, Jaclyn Adams & Michelle Huynh are some of many and all for different reasons. If Money Was No Issue, In What City Would You Live? I reckon that answer would change annually but I definitely want to live for a year each in Paris, London, New York, Barcelona, Istanbul & Casablanca at different phases of my career. Marjolein Audrey Banis The Netherlands / dashdot.nl
How Long Have You Been A Photographer? For over 18 years Favorite Subject To Photograph? Models and highf ashion items by preferably new dutch design talent How Do You Describe Your Photographic Style? Imperfectionism, I like to step away from the commercial clean image and
create something dynamic, and personal. I love tears rips and stains on paper and dusty images
What Kind Of Equipment Do You Use? Anything, I think a good photographer is not in the equipment he uses for I have seen
people making images with a razorblade-pinhole that were better than work made by a photographer with a 5 figure $ camera. Most of my work was shot with a fixed 50 mm or 80mm lens and a lot of studio flashes, bare headed. I work with lots of light and gels. Who Are Your Influences? I loved Pierre Et Gilles and I admire Stieglitz Are There Any Emerging Photographers Who You Admire? I really admire Chadwick Tyler - the tiberius series If Money Was No Issue, In What City Would You Live? Hong Kong Michela Nale London / nalemichela.altervista.org How Long Have You Been A Photographer? I’ve been married to my camera(s) for the past ten years. Four years ago our love went a step further. I, in fact, discovered that fashion was the perfect pot to harmoniously mix my imagination, my creativity and my skills as a professional photographer. Favourite Subject To Photograph? People. In fashion, portraits or more spontaneous pictures I like to keep a focus on the humanity behind the shot. How Do You Describe Your Photographic Style? A chic yet vintage style that dazes reality into dreams pleases the eyes of the observer and leaves space to his-her imagination. Yet, as mentioned above, my pictures are always tight to the human reality held by theirs subjects. What Kind Of Equipment Do You Use? Analogue cameras and digital cameras. My true passion is to shoot in black and white with my first analogue camera (Canon AE1 p), an inheritance from my parents. Yet, in professional shootings I mainly use my Canon 7d. As I prefer natural lights, I barely use any flash. Did You Have Any Formal Training In Photography? For five years, at Art School, I fully immersed my heart, body and mind into the theoretical concepts and the actual procedures of photography (from different shooting techniques to the magnificent process of developing pictures in a dark room).
