BLYTH FESTIVAL – SPECIAL EVENTS 2013 Season Press Release FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE THE SENSATION STANTON SISTERS ARE COMING TO THE BLYTH FESTIVAL Blyth Festival, April 20, 2013 – If the winter ‘blahs’ have you and your children climbing the walls, and the sight of one more snow angel might just bring out the mischief in you, then head to the Blyth Memorial Hall on Saturday, April 20th at 2pm for The Sensational Stanton Sisters, a puppet show presented by The Other Hand Puppet Troupe! It’s 1930 and The Sensational Stanton Sisters are quick on the road to success, when an invitation to a song festival on a secluded island seems like the booking of a lifetime! Little do the Sisters know that they have actually fallen into clutches of the deranged poet Pompous Polonius, voiced by Canadian comedian, Sean Cullen. It’s up to the Sensational Stanton Sisters and a few ragtag volunteers from the festival to make it off the island and back to stardom! Directed by John Powers and performed by John and Melina Powers, this Jim Henson –inspired puppet musical is geared to both child and parent. “It is definitely an all-ages show,” says Powers, “and is intentionally written to be very entertaining for grown-ups as well as the young ones.” Throughout the show, a slew of Canadian talent has loaned their vocal abilities to the show. As mentioned, comedian Sean Cullen “sounds” an appearance, as well as well-known Canadian Singer/Songwriter, Ron Sexsmith and his wife, Colleen Hixenbaugh. “Living in Stratford, we have been fortunate to make connections with talented actors from the Stratford Festival who have happily offered their voices for the puppet characters,” says Powers, “generally we just ask people and most are excited to give it a try as something that is unique and fun.“ For only $8.00 a person, you and your family can dig out from under the cabin fever and spend an afternoon with outstanding Canadian performers and laugh until the snow has melted.
