Benchmark Media, established in 2013, is a publishing house focused on two areas of Australia’s dynamic financial services industry: the self-managed superannuation fund sector and the broader retail market, including financial advice, funds management, risk insurance and retirement savings.
Its coverage of these fields is achieved via three targeted mastheads: selfmanagedsuper, smstrusteenews and financialobserver
It is led by Darin Tyson-Chan, who has extensive experience covering all facets of the industry and was the first journalist in Australia dedicated to the self-managed superannuation fund sector. He remains the only recipient of the SMSF Association Trade Journalist of the Year Award.

Digital SOLUS EDM guidelines
Guidelines:HTML
Important note: HTML email documents tend to render with some small inconsistency over a variety of email browsers. The following information is crucial in ensuring quality and consistency across email platforms. Failure to adhere to these recommendations may impact campaign effectiveness, delivery scheduling, timelines and user experience.
• Dimensions of campaign should be a maximum width of 650px.
• Do not use <div> tags as they are not supported by a majority of email clients; instead use tables for email layout.
• Do not use rowspan as it won’t render consistently.
• Set cellpadding and cellspacing to 0 on the table elements.
• Preference for CSS both inline and in the head stylesheets. Mobile view requires an @media query in the head stylesheet to render content properly via classes, such as shrinking images and stacking multi-column modules. In certain cases, we also set special styling classes that can be activated in Email Editor, such as for padding and border options.
• If the paragraph module has padding options, create multiple paragraph modules and insert the text as needed.
• We use some special classes in the template’s head stylesheets and mso-conditional statements to force the default margin settings to 0 (for Outlook/Windows-based apps). Padding can be given in inline styling and also rendered differently in the head stylesheet on mobile view, or if the user requests multiple sizes of padding to choose from.
• Custom spacing using the padding and/or height options within the <td> tag, and, in the blank space between the <td>...</td> tags, use the HTML code for blank space:
• To overcome default blocked images in emails, include compelling image alt tags to encourage users to display images.
• To reduce the campaign triggering spam filters, the total email weight must be a maximum of 100KB. In addition, it’s strongly recommended to keep all images under 500KB for fast rendering.
Schedule&deadlines
Schedule & Deadlines
Creative must be submitted as finished HTML. All supporting images and files to be SUPPLIED AS ABSOLUTE LINKS. All material and assets must be received SEVEN WORKING DAYS prior to campaign send date. This allows for one round of revisions and approval prior to each send.
