DIGITAL PRODUCTION STANDARDS Hollander Design New York, NY For years, this office generated all of its presentation graphics by hand. A process that involved drafting guidlines and hardscape in CAD, inking softscape linework and textures, scanning multiple drawings, printing on vellum, followed by ad-marker or colored pencil rendering. This tedious process often doubled man hours when a client requested even the slightest layout modification. The more familiar I became with this process, I was sure there was a way to create a similar hand rendered aestetic digitally. These digital renderings could be easily manipulated at each phase of the design process, optimizing time spent on each project. I created a full library of sample renderings along with photoshop templates at various drawing scales and a written graphics manual. I was asked to present these materials in an office-wide tutorial and this graphic style was adopted as company standard. .

SOUTHAMPTON RESIDENCE Long Island, NY Set on a two acre property in Southhampton, this client wanted to maximize ocean views. Per local building code, there must be a four foot heigh fence or structural barrier surrounding the swimming pool. To eliminate the need for a fence between the house and ocean front, a 270 foot inifity edge, with a four foot heigh spillover was incorporated across the entire length of the swimming lap lane. Developed construction documents for final bid and construction. Completed pool, wall, stair, decking and terrace details as well as hardscape layouts. Drafted final planting plan for bid and installation. Completed Summer 2017 Architect: Haynes Roberts Archietcts

ESTATE GARDEN Greenwich, CT This large property was to be built out in phases. Worked with client from schematic design through construction documentation to complete a large garden that could be built immediately and was not dependent on the construction timelines of the planned main house and guest house. The garden steps its way down a large wooded hillside and terminated in an existing vegtable garden. Each terrace room within the garden was designed to have a slightly different aestetic in regard to plant material. PLENTY RESEARCH + DEVELPMENT FACILITY Laramie, WY This research facitily was created as a testing ground for Plenty’s hydroponic vertical growing technology. Tasked with building out 30 individual grow rooms with the ability to isolate growing variables including, temperature, humidty, lighting cycles, nutrient mix, PH level, and CO2 density. Isolating these grow variables will allow Plenty to optimize grow environments for various plant species ranging from leaf lettuces, to kale and strawberries. Responsible for development of $2.5M project budget and oversaw procurement of full bill of materials.

IDEAS COMPETITION - WINNING SUBMISSION 2013 was California’s driest year on record and 2014 is looking to be no better. A firm-wide call for ideas from the San Francisco Office asked for video submissions addressing how we as landscape architects can design for this environmental crisis.

Brew | Fields As the nations top producer of craft beer, California breweries produce more than 2.4 million barrels of beer every year, and this number only continues to grow. However for every barrel of beer produced, anywhere from three to seven barrels of water are wasted in the process. This provides a huge quantity of waste water that has great potential for reclamation and reuse. So what if we could close the loop on the water cycle within the context of local beer production and generate social community spaces (Brew Fields) cultivated around the intelligent re-use of local resources.

HOUSTON DOWNTOWN FREEWAYS Houston, TX Prepared planning and visioning materials to explore alternative configurations of the downtown freeways. The alternatives were based on the district’s need to increase the connections into downtown. The preferred scheme proposed relocating I-45 to the East side of Downtown along the current alignment of Highway 59. This alternative removed the existing elevated I-45 infrastructure to the West and South of Downtown. This infrastructure would be replaced with an at-grade parkway that would reconnect the adjacent districts and creates additional greenspace along the corridor. This parkway would then feed directly into the grid of the downtown streets. The proposal suggested redirecting the I-45 traffic along I-10 to Highway 59. The goal would be to depress the lanes of Hwy 59, elevate the Infrastructure of I-45, and increase connections from the East side of downtown. The depressed corridor would be capped, creating opportunity for additional greenspace and development. Downtown Houston
work completed at SWA Group
Proposed parkway scheme stacked freeways stacked behind GRB convention center.
Parkway replaces once elevated freeway at the east end of Buffalo Bayou Park.
Removal of old freeway structures makes room for a new parkway with widened sidewalks and medians for pedestiran use. The parkway more effectively stitches together downtown and midtown.
Freeways become stacked north of dowtown. Frontage roads insert below the structure where freeway previously sat, increasing pedestrian right of way adjacent to buildings.

ALLEN PARKWAY REALIGNMENT Houston, TX
In its current condition, Allen Parkway serves as a highway alternative that feeds traffic directly into the heart of downtown Houston. Vehicles travel at speeds upwards of 50 mph. The parkway also runs along the length of Buffalo Bayou Park, one of Houston’s largest public parks and newest amenities. While Buffalo Bayou Park is already heavily used, pedestrians are extremely limited by ways in which to access the area. This public infrastructure project aimed to slow traffic along Allen Parkway by adding additional traffic signals. These signals not only would reduce acceleration capacity but also improve pedestrian connections to Buffalo Bayou across this busy thoroughfare. The plan proposed the shifting of traffic lanes to create a slower, protected westbound lane and angled parking along the northern park side where vehicles could stop and drop off passengers. The addition of parking in this context keeps more eyes on the park, thereby increasing public safety, and greatly increasing user access to the space.

OFFICES AT CLAY ROAD Houston, TX Provided site design for a five story office building located on a brownfield 20 miles west of downtown Houston. Saw project through from conceptual phases to construction documentation. Following demolition of old structures, contaminated soils were dug out and capped beneath berms along the property line. Due to Houston’s strict regulations on storm water management and on-site detention, much of the site was used as rain gardens. Throughout the design process I coordinated regularly with both the architects and civil engineers to ensure proper detention volumes and site drainage requirements were met. I worked closely with our client in selection of hardscape materials as well as plant palette character. A careful mix of water tolerant plants including a variety of irises, palmettos, and grasses were selected for the large detention pond at the front of the building. RIVERFRONT FORT WAYNE Fort Wayne, IN A planning study encompassing 312 acres adjacent to downtown Fort Wayne and the rivers that run through the heart of the town. The goal of the study was to identify opportunities for enhancement along the riverfront and create a strong river district that would stitch together downtown and areas north of the river.
