this huge responsibility speaks volumes for the selflessness and commitment to our mission. We would also like to express our gratitude to the many volunteers that will make tonight’s event a huge success. From the bottom of my heart and on behalf of all of Bishop McNamara I say thank you for giving so much of yourselves to Catholic education.
Friends of Bishop McNamara,
Tonight, in a special way, we honor Dale and Lynn Piggush as our Honorary Chairpersons. Bishop McNamara has been an important part of both their immediate and extended families. Dale’s five siblings all graduated from St. Patrick’s High School/Bishop McNamara High School, as did Lynn’s five sisters. The devotion by Dale and Lynn to their extended Bishop McNamara family has always been unwavering. They have shown true commitment to serving the school even before their three children, Neil ‘98, Scott ‘01, and Lauren ’07, were enrolled by volunteering for Madcaps in the 1980’s. They continued their service as school parents by leading several committees, including serving as Annual Dinner Auction Chairpersons. And still today, they continue their commitment as Major Sponsors to the Annual Dinner Auction in addition to other donations. This commitment provides enrichment to our students, faculty, and staff. Our current students include three of their for the many years of continued support and the giving of grandchildren, so they can now look forward to continuing traditions and new himself for the greater good of Bishop McNamara. experiences at Bishop McNamara.

It is also my pleasure to recognize, in a very special way, someone who is near and dear to me, Fr. Daniel Belanger, Granger CSV. I first met Fr. Dan, at that time Brother Dan, when TerryTerry Granger ‘76, President President I was principal at Maternity BVM. I fondly called him Brother Tornado because he would come into my office like a whirlwind and when he left I knew I had committed myself to something, but I just wasn’t sure exactly what. Fast forward some twenty years later and Fr. Dan still demonstrates that incredible energy. His vision, dedication, and commitment to Bishop McNamara whether it is through his leadership as Pastor at St. George Parish, serving as our Chaplain for several years, his infamous projects, or his simple words and continued prayers, assists us to carry out our mission in the greater Kankakee community. Please join me in saying thank you to Fr. Dan

Salutations Friends and Family of Bishop McNamara, It is a humbling experience to be chosen as the honorary chairperson of the 38th Annual Dinner Auction. The longevity of this event is truly remarkable as it extends into its 38th year because of the wonderful BMCS families and the larger community of Bishop McNamara supporters. I was first introduced to Bishop McNamara in 2000 while serving as Youth Minister at Maternity BVM Church, and I was immediately struck by the beautiful community that is the “Bishop McNamara Family.” Thus, it was a true honor to be hired as the Chaplain of Bishop McNamara, by then principal, Jim Laurenti, and it was an even greater privilege to serve in that role for the subsequent decade. I feel truly blessed to have been granted this great opportunity to teach God’s word through the Catholic Ministry Office and working closely with our Viatorian community to advance religious vocations in our community. One of the proudest pastoral achievements in my career is the commitment of my current parish to a community like Bishop McNamara. At St. George Parish, we hold an annual golf outing where all proceeds are donated to the BMCS scholarship fund, enabling students to attend Bishop McNamara and experience the Bishop McNamara community. Whether celebrating Mass or participating in prayer group, actively gardening and creating a welcome space for everyone entering the grounds, service projects, golf outings, or Kairos and class retreats, I was able to make friendships at Bishop McNamara that will last a lifetime, and for this, I am beyond grateful. I am excited to see the future of Bishop McNamara as it continues its commitment to prepare students for their futures.
The planning of this event has been a beautifullychallenging, awe-inspiring, and rewarding experience, and I am truly proud to be part of the largest school event at Bishop McNamara. While I am no longer Chaplain at BMCS, I can still be found inside the Bishop McNamara halls of the Kankakee site, serving as a barista and general manager at the Holy Grounds Café. There, I would be delighted to offer you an espresso while sharing stories of other amazing places and people Jesus Christ has introduced into my life. Adored and loved be Jesus,
Fr. Dan Belanger, CSV 38th Annual Dinner Auction Honorary Chairperson

38th Annual
Bishop McNamara Catholic School
Dinner Auction
Hello Friends! Welcome to a spectacular evening, “A Million Dreams.” It is an amazing feeling to have so many supporters of Bishop McNamara joining us in person tonight. We hope that you enjoy the 38th Annual Dinner Auction and all of the traditions we are so lucky to celebrate! Saying “yes” to chairing this event was a welcome surprise. My parents were the chairpersons for the first Bishop McNamara Annual Dinner Auction in 1985 titled “A Spring Spectacular.” Knowing that we, too, could make a difference for our school community and more importantly the thought of making even one of the Million dreams come true for our students at BMCS are our reasons for taking on the role as chairpersons. We were blown away by the dedication of the auction planning team made up of the Advancement Office, parent volunteers, and our honorary chairperson. The generosity of our sponsors, donors, and community has been overwhelming this year! Thank you to all that have contributed to this evening. Without you it is not possible. This year’s honorary chairperson, Fr. Dan Belanger, C.S.V., has been inspirational to us and the committee. He has also had a vision of making dreams come true! The passion and dedication he has demonstrated for the Bishop McNamara mission through his actions in the Catholic Ministry Office, beautification of the building and grounds, and of course the Holy Grounds Café have impacted the students attending Bishop McNamara today and well into future generations. We are grateful for the positive energy he has brought to this event. As we think about tonight’s event, “A Million Dreams,” let us think about connections that have brought each one of us here. Let us continue to be an example to our children and pass on these connections through prayer, encouragement, and active involvement with Bishop McNamara. Raise your paddles tonight to make a Million dreams come true for the students of Bishop McNamara!

hvac : bid paddle raise Past paddle raises have provided Bishop McNamara with the upgrades in technology to accommodate the new suite of digital options to improve the in-class experience, BMCS Cafeteria updates, STEM curriculum, Blackbox Theatre, and tuition assistance, just to name a few. These investments in our children and our school have helped to grow our Bishop McNamara community as ONE.
HVAC: PHASE I A comfortable learning environment is a key factor in aiding in the academic excellence we strive for and also leads to a consistent and predictable schedule during extreme weather months. An analysis published by the National Bureau of Economic Research comparing student test scores with average temperatures suggests that when classrooms get too hot it prevents students from learning as well as they would in more comfortable temperatures.* This year’s Raise The Paddle is being dedicated to introducing air conditioning to the square of the BMCS Kankakee site. The installation of Mitsubishi ductless mini-split systems in 16 classrooms and 4 offices will effectively and efficiently provide air conditioning with very minimal construction interruptions and will be integrated to the existing building structure. Thanks to the generosity of the Lewis/Rohr family, a $25,000 matching gift donation from HomeStar Insurance, and PPP funding, we are able to start planning for this much-needed HVAC Phase I. In addition, $30,000 is needed to make this dream a reality. Raise your paddle tonight to help us reach our goal and implement the upgrade and provide a quality learning environment for our students. *usnews.com
