DAS is the construction system used to produce most of the models in the Dolomite collection. Its aim is to ensure that the internal shape of the footwear follows the anatomy of the foot itself as closely as possible, and to comply with the natural biomechanics of the foot. INNOVATION

Litebase Tech is an innovative technology designed by Vibram with the aim of drastically reducing the weight of the rubber sole while leaving the performance features of a traditional Vibram sole intact.

Vibram Lite Base Tech replaces the traditional rubber bottom. The technology consists of a unique vulcanisation process which allows a slim layer of rubberised fabric to be joined to the rubber inserts that are feature of the tread design.

The goal of weight reduction is achieved through an extreme reduction in the thicknesses of the rubber bottom. The rubber bottom becomes a very thin layer of fabric with vulcanised rubber covering.

FEATURES On the subject of highly technical and high-performance footwear for professional sports, the weight of the footwear is always an important and, at times, penalising aspect. Excess weight can in fact cause excessive outlay of energy which could instead be put to good use by the athlete in order to increase sporting performance. The sole can make a significant contribution to the overall weight of the footwear. A Vibram sole intended for technical use, for example, must necessarily observe parameters of resistance to wear, durability and stability, which normally require thicknesses of the rubber bottom of at least 1.7 mm. The innovative Vibram Litebase Tech technology allows a significant reduction in the overall weight of the sole, with radical action taken on the thicknesses of the rubber bottom.

The thickness of the rubber sole is reduced by about 40-50 % from 1.7 mm to 0.5/0.9 mm according to the type of sole. This leads to a reduction in the weight of the tread of 25-30%. The significant reduction in the thicknesses and resulting risk of tearing are offset by introducing pre-rubberised and pre-vulcanised fabrics that act as reinforcement. The pre-rubberised fabric is co-vulcanised in a single process with the rubber inserts of the tread pattern. The result is a very lightweight sole, with identical studs to those of a traditional Vibram sole and therefore with the same features of traction, durability and wear resistance.

The Perspair® technology used for the upper allows a structure to be made which represents an ideal combination of lightness and resistance. Products designed with GORE-TEX laminates are waterproof in time and with optimal breathability. The GORE-TEX membrane is the core of all GORE-TEX products. Thanks to its microporous structure it has some surprising features.

When you are active your skin eliminates excess heat through transpiration. To avoid an unpleasant accumulation of sweat, the GORE-TEX membrane allows the evaporating moisture to exit through the fabric. This breathability allows the skin to be kept drier and more comfortable, even during extreme physical effort.

BREATHABLE / WATERPROOF The GORE-TEX membrane is an extremely thin layer of expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE). It numbers over 1.4 billion pores per cm2. The pores in fact determine the properties of GORE-TEX®materials - waterproofing and breathability.

RECYCLED DOWN

ECO-FRIENDLY

Down and feathers extracted from post-consumer goods (sleeping bags, bedding products, etc.) are recycled through a cleaning and sterilisation process to be reused as filling material for clothing.

RECYCLED ZIPPER Zippers are made from recycled materials, including PET bottles.

RECYCLED POLYESTER Polyester using PET as raw material. This is the same material used to make clear plastic water bottles, so recycling it to create the fabric prevents it from going to landfill. The steps involved in the production process are as follows: •

Collected PET bottles are sterilized, dried and crushed into small chips.

•

The chips are heated and passed through a spinneret to a form string of yarn.

•

This yarn is wound up in spools.

•

The fibre is then passed through a crimping machine to produce a fluffy, wool-like texture.

•

The yarn is then baled, dyed, and knitted in polyester fabric.
