ABOUT US ABOUT MOMENT When you ask us what makes Moment different from other brands, we’re never sure where to start. You may have seen our skis in a magazine, stacked up against other brands in an annual review, or maybe you just watched a YouTube segment with some grainy, homemade park footage. Depending on what you’ve read, heard, or seen, you might think we’re a big corporation with a huge factory somewhere in China (or was it Colorado? Croatia?), or maybe you think we’re just a couple of dudes running a garage operation in Tahoe. More often than not, you heard about us from someone who owns a pair, and if you’re really informed you might have learned we make skis in the USA. But it’s rare that we meet anyone who knows the whole story. So here’s the straight dope. We aren’t a garage operation. We operate our own factory in Reno, on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe. Having a factory doesn’t mean we’re big—far from it. Ring us up, and you’ll get one of three people: our founder, our vice president, or the next closest person to the phone because the first two have their hands full. That’s not a euphemism for being in a meeting, either—it means hands full, wrangling a 200-pound mold out of a press, deep in the CAD zone tweaking a ski design, or helping out a customer. We have a showroom here in the shop, and if you’re in town you can come visit us anytime. We don’t have a board of directors, a savvy PR firm on retainer, or an R&D department. This catalog? The result of an annual Red Bull and beer fueled three-day bender involving our slave-driving, emotionally abusive VP, one annoyingly talented, black-leather-clad misanthrope of a graphic designer, and a brilliant, ruggedly handsome yet woefully underappreciated copywriter. We don’t make skis like big companies do. The decision to make a new model or keep an old one isn’t made in an executive boardroom, staring at a projection of last year’s profit-and-loss statement. We make those decisions on the mountain, because we are skiers first, and we make skis for skiers—for you, for us, for our friends, for our families. We design them ourselves, we make them by hand in small batches, and we make them look like nothing else because everybody knows being different is cool. Believe us when we say it’s not about the money, and it never has been. It’s about skiing, and bringing you the best skis for the best times. Welcome to the Biggest Little Ski Company in the World. Welcome to Moment.

HANDMADE IN THE USA There’s good stuff out there - but you may have to work a little harder to get it when the snow gods aren’t puking their guts out all over your local mountain. We’re working harder too, sourcing 95% of the materials in our skis and 100% of the people who make them from right here in the USA, then cranking late into the night to bake batch after batch of handmade shred sticks. We’re making them tougher to last longer, lighter so you can go farther into the backcountry, and more fun for those days when it does dump like it should. We’re always adapting and improving, and as a result, all we make are limited editions. Don’t get with us if you don’t want to work. You have to pay to play, and we don’t mean in dollars. But rest assured, when you’ve put in the effort and you have a pair of Moments under you working for you, the reward will be worth it. And we’ll be right there with you.

TRIPLE CAMBER TECHNOLOGY by MOMENT SKIS
MOMENT SKIS
CAMBER TECH
HANDMADE IN THE USA
FRONT ROCKER Rocker in the tip with traditional camber underfoot and a flat tail. Front Rocker gives a ski the strength and edging power of a cambered ski, while the rockered tip speeds turn initiation, blasts through crud, and planes quickly in the powder.
TALLAC, GOVERNOR, CARSON, COMI
MUSTACHE ROCKER Traditional camber underfoot and rocker at the tip and tail. Camber gives you high-speed stability and edge hold on hardpack, while rocker at both ends feels loose and playful in variable snow.
VICE, PB&J, BIBBY, BELLA
TRIPLE CAMBER TWIN ROCKER Rocker at the tip and tail, low center camber, and two sections of micro-camber embedded in front of and behind the binding. Rocker and low camber let the ski surf and slash in powder, while the micro-camber sections create focused edge pressure on hardpack for carving.
FRANKENSKI, DEATHWISH, SIERRA, UNDERWORLD
TRIPLE CAMBER FRONT ROCKER Triple Camber Technology adds twin micro-cambers within the center camber of the ski, restoring pop to the tip and tail and stiffening the overall profile of the ski while maintaining the loose feel of a rocker/ camber design. In powder, the low center and rockered ends allow you to float and slash. On hardpack, the micro-cambers bite with focused pressure into the snow, making the shorter effective edge more effective in the turn. In variable conditions, Triple Camber adds confidence without making the ski sluggish or hard to initiate. Triple Camber Technology will take your skiing to the next level. It’s the best of all worlds.
Rocker in the tip, camber underfoot, and microcamber sections before and behind the binding. Easy turn initiation, stability and maneuverability for variable snow, with powerful edge hold and turn exit on hardpack.
TAHOE, BELAFONTE, HOT MESS
TRIPLE CAMBER FLAT ROCKER OVERALL ROCKER
TAIL ROCKER
FRONT ROCKER
This rocker profile is flat underfoot with extended tip and tail rocker. Micro-cambers outside the binding area preserve grip on hardpack and stiffen the tail to prevent wheeling out in big-air landings. Handlebar Rocker is designed to surface quickly and ride atop variable snow with exceptional maneuverability, yet remain secure when engaged in a turn.
GHOST TRAIN, EXIT WORLD
DUAL ROCKER ZEPHYR
Flat profile underfoot with an early-rising rockered tip and tail. Designed for powder, this camber profile surfaces quickly and stays on top, allowing the ski to pivot and smear turns without catching. MICRO CAMBER

TECHNOLOGY
Whereas many small ski companies rely on outsourcing to produce prototypes, we create and press new designs entirely in-house. A process that might take weeks for others takes 24 hours or less at Moment. It is this agility that allows us to experiment with radical rocker profiles, to rework dimensions by the millimeter, and to test out new materials, in order to bring you the best skiing experience possible every season.

STANDARD LAYUP
We use carbon fiber in all our skis, either in the form of woven unidirectional stringers or carbon tow threads added to the laminate matrix. Lighter than fiberglass, metal, or basalt, carbon helps tune and strengthen the ski while adding longevity to the flex profile.
We source our edges from the industry’s mostrecognized manufacturer. They arrive from Austria hardened to 48 Rockwell, and we perform additional heat-treating in-house to adjust the hardness and ductility of the steel, ensuring you get the most life out of your skis.
Extruded UHMW (Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) is the sidewall material we use for every pair of skis. It is extremely light, durable, and resistant to separation.
Strong, light, and poppy, with a great ride thanks to the damping performance of pine, our aspen/ pine core is the foundation of our all-mountain and powder skis.
Paulownia is exceptionally light in weight, with similar properties to aspen in terms of flex and rebound. We use this as the core foundation for our touring models, and add pine stringers for strength and a smooth ride.
A combination of carbon fiber stringers and fiberglass sheets helps give our skis their signature smooth ride and long flex life. Triaxial glass adds twisting strength and longitudinal stiffness. Biaxial weaves add torsional stiffness. Unidirectional glass helps absorb vibration and stiffen the ski from tip to tail.

ASPEN / ASH
BAMBOO
LOW FAT LAYUP
Our U.S. made Durasurf 4001 sintered base material takes a beating while staying fast. Harder and with better wax absorption properties than extruded bases, sintered bases are the industry standard for performance and longevity.
In addition to carbon fiber, we use three types of fiberglass laminates to fine-tune the flex of our skis. Triaxial glass adds twisting strength and longitudinal stiffness. Biaxial weaves add torsional stiffness. Unidirectional glass helps absorb vibration and stiffen the ski from tip to tail.
We use several different types of topsheet materials, enhanced with sublimated graphics - a nontoxic and eco-friendly alternative to silk screening. Each topsheet choice is made to ensure optimal durability and impact resistance while maintaining crisp and bright graphics.
Ash stringers give this core outstanding stiffness and damping without excess weight, making it perfect for our big-mountain models and our competition park ski, the Vice.
We use a core of laminated bamboo in the Frankenski. Bamboo is extraordinarily tough and flexible, making it ideal for the abuses of urban jibbing. It is also rapidly renewable, since cutting bamboo does not stop the plant from growing.
Our Low-Fat Layup uses 33% more carbon and a lighter fiberglass weave to shave excess weight from the ski while preserving snap and life. We use this layup in our touring models and in our widest men’s and women’s powder skis.
RESIN We developed our proprietary epoxy resin direclty with the U.S. manufacturer. Custom-formulated for flexibility, durability, and exceptional bonding strength in cold conditions, our resin is what keeps everything together. Made in the USA.

FRANKENSKI
15/16 HANDMADE IN THE USA
You’re not a cartel kingpin or a dot-com billionaire, blowing your nose with hundred-dollar bills. So what do you do when it’s time to choose between the whippy jib ski you want and the do-it-all ski you need? The Frankenski is what you do. Bulletproof bamboo and semi-cap construction make it the most press-able, playful, and tough ski in our line. Stable dimensions and Triple Camber Technology let you ski whatever, whenever. It’s two skis in one—half butter knife, half sawblade—and that’s good, because your next paycheck is going to rent, ramen, and toilet paper.

Why is Mustache Rocker perfect for the park? Take the Vice for a lap and you’ll understand. By pre-flexing the tip and tail for you, we can keep it mellow and forgiving without making it soft. That means you can butter, press, drag, switch up, stomp, and get sloppier than second base without catching a one-way ticket to hook city or losing your edges on a shady takeoff.

TAHOE
As long as there’s coverage, there’s the Tahoe. Fully rippable even when the corduroy’s been shaved to Brazilian standards by group lessons and pizza parties, the Tahoe is our low tide go-to and a favorite in Europe, Japan, and the hardpack-prone Northeastern U.S. of A. Triple Camber Technology gives it more bite when things freeze up, while Front Rocker keeps it stable in chop and easy to initiate in tight trees.

DEATHWISH
Still winning hearts, blowing minds, wooing industry editors, and standing proudly apart from the entire industry, the Deathwish is more popular now than we ever imagined it would be. Its incredible stability, pointability, and seemingly universal appeal across all ability levels mean the ski that pioneered Triple Camber Technology has changed little in three seasons; this year, we make an exception by adding durability and chip resistance in the form of semi-cap construction.

The directional shape, firm flex profile, and traditional mount of the Belafonte make it a hit with old-school rippers, mountain patrollers, and the O.B. renegades who outrun them. But thanks to Front Rocker and Triple Camber Technology, the Belafonte is far friendlier and more manageable than most big-mountain skis sharing similar competition pedigrees. That means you’ll love the Belafonte whether you already ski fast and hard, or if your goal is just to ski a little faster and harder than you do now.

BIG MOUNTAIN
GOVERNOR 15/16 HANDMADE IN THE USA
People have told us we’re too aggressive in promoting the Governor’s big-mountain badass persona. They say we make it sound like a handful, but when they take it out they’re surprised by how easy it is to control. It’s true. Yes, the Governor is a big ski with a stiff midsection, and as a result it remains unsettlingly stable at high speed in disgusting conditions. But its rockered shovel and mid-radius sidecut make it capable of much more than just straightlining couloirs and stomping massive cliffs, including—but not limited to— pow slashing, ripping groomers, and sending that natural goalpost booter at Alta you’ve always wanted to tick off.

TOUR
TALLAC
15/16 HANDMADE IN THE USA
We turned into AT animals last season, going farther than ever to find decent snow and new challenges. We wanted to expand the tour collection with a lighter skinnier ski that would complement the ramp angle of tech bindings and flimsy Pebax boots for the long haul. Then Nate Greenberg, guru of the Sierra Eastside, came into the showroom one day and picked up the Governor. “You need this,” he said, “not this ski though—this shape.” So we made it: traditional mount, directional, flat tail, lightweight Low-Fat Layup, touring tip and tail notch. More shovel means something to lean on when you’re as top-heavy as Christy Canyon in stilettos. Front Rocker and a generous sidecut make it easy to swing around narrow, sticky chutes and sketchy face traverses.

Some things just shouldn’t be messed with. Texas, box jellyfish, and the United States Marines spring to mind. Same goes for the Bibby, apparently. That’s right; we’re bringing it back. We added semi-cap construction to make it tougher, but otherwise this is the same Bibby Pro you know and love from seasons past. Even Josh asked us to return from his latest model to the old design, which is really saying something. Regardless, we love the fact that you love it so much, and it makes us feel great that you cared enough to reach out and abuse us mercilessly until we capitulated to your demands. GHOST TRAIN BY
KC DEANE
15/16 HANDMADE IN THE USA
No matter what anyone else tries to sell you on, know this: there’s still nothing better in powder than early taper, fat dimensions, and long, gradual twin rocker. The only issue is that what’s good in powder isn’t so good at other things, like landing airs without wheeling out, for instance, and preserving that tiny piece of super-carcinogenic high-fluoro wax you stole from the race room. We can’t fix the wax issue—stealing is wrong, ace, get a job—but we can minimize the other one via the magic of Triple Camber Technology. Tweaking the original design this time we added microcambers in the tip and tail rocker. This makes the Ghost Train not only more secure on icy traverses, but more substantial in the tail section for increased stompability. Hat tip to KC Deane for knowing what he wants and helping us design our best powder ski ever.

Adding Triple Camber Technology to our most popular women’s model was a gamble, but it’s one that has since paid off many times over. The playfulness and all-conditions stability it gave this mid-fat all-mountain ski mean there’s no need to worry about what you’ll face when you get to the resort, because you can ski anything on it. Hookfree in powder—fresh or chopped, champagne or coastal—and confidence-inspiring anywhere from wide-open groomers to tight chutes and trees, the Sierra is truly a one-ski quiver for these unpredictable years of drought and plenty.
The big storms may be fewer and farther between these days, but they always seem to arrive, and when they do it’s faceshot time on the mountain. The Bella lives for the big ones, with the classic one-two powder punch of fat dimensions and Mustache Rocker. The cambered midsection and lightweight build of this ski make it extraordinarily friendly no matter what the conditions, which may be why we see so many ripping gals who rely on the Bella as their daily driver.

CARSON 15/16 HANDMADE IN THE USA
Most companies figure it’s fine to put a young gun on a foam-cored imitation of a real ski, because who cares about quality if they’re going to outgrow it in a year anyway, right? Well, we don’t do that. The Carson is a mid-fat, Front Rocker kid’s twin, built to the same exact standards as our adult skis, with hand-laid construction, a customprofiled full wood core, full damping perimeter, and beefy edges that can take a beating. This way, when Junior or Janeior grows out of his or her pair, they’ll still have plenty of life left for little bro, little sis, or the swap meet at the rec center.

When we introduced the Zephyr, you might have been able to find one other true kid’s powder ski on the entire market. CHIPOTLE BANANA 15/16 HANDMADE IN THE USA
Over the last few seasons, Moment team athlete Carston Oliver has been developing his own personal pro model. He’s obsessed. Sometime in the fall, he’ll make the eight-hour drive from Utah to our Sparks, Nevada factory, crash on the couch for a few days while we help him tweak the design and press out prototypes, and then he’ll head home, with a short stack of the latest version for testing. This year, with Carston’s blessing, we decided to offer a limited release of what he’s dubbed the Chipotle Banana. Don’t be fooled by its cartoon topsheet graphic and fat, friendly shape—this is not your typical powder ski. The Chipotle recipe begins in a unique layup: extra sheets of fiberglass and more carbon than we currently build into any other ski, wrapped over a substantial aspen/ash core. Its Radius Rocker profile matches the long 33-meter sidecut radius, giving it both maneuverability for sketchy entries and the straight-line stability needed for choppy exits. Broad dimensions keep it afloat in dry, deep Wasatch powder, while Radius Rocker keeps it loose and free in coastal conditions. The concept sounds mellow, but the ski itself is a stiff, damp, high-octane prescription for Carston’s unique brand of mental illness. If you, too, are going six kinds of ape trying to choose between a softer rockered ski and a traditional big-mountain model, the Chipotle Banana could hold the cure—but the side effects should not be taken lightly. Consider this your warning label.

COMI 15/16 HANDMADE IN THE USA
Last year, Greg Harms and Clark Fyans of Third Edge Heli asked us if we’d ever consider re-releasing the Comi. It was the only ski, they said, that could handle the full variety of steep and deep conditions they encounter in Chile, Alaska, and Revelstoke. Clients without powder skis in the quiver could get on a pair and ski all day, while guides loved the predictable, stable nature of the front rocker/swallowtail design. We’ve heard similar stories elsewhere. How could we say no? Since we can’t leave well enough alone, we rebuilt the old design from the ground up, using a modified version of our new Low Fat Layup, and introducing a whole lot of carbon to maintain torsional stiffness across the Comi’s girthy dimensions. The new version is lighter and snappier than its predecessor, and features the snowshedding textured topsheet found on our powder and touring models. If you yearn for the days of super-duper-fatties and you believe that “bigger is better,” take a trip with the Comi while you have the chance.
