46 Sunday Spurs - Relax this Australia Day LIQUID LIFE & LEISURE

From the Editor...

Welcome Liquid Life & Leisure Legends

Well Christmas is well and truly behind us, Australia Day has been celebrated and kids are back at school. Where did the time go? It may have gone quick, I for one though had an absolute ball this Christmas break and school holidays. I have been on my own little journey of late, one that I have brushed on in past issues and one that has been so important to myself and my little family. I have been realising that simplicity breeds happiness, well in our case anyway. We have less material belongings than we ever have had and we couldn’t be happier. We have put our hard earned cash into different aspects of our life and living our everyday life more simply and it is sensational. This edition has definitely come from a different place for me, although I have loved bringing this magazine to you all, this edition something clicked, it came so easy, it flowed and it made me realise that we spend so much time being “busy” and not in tune with what we are doing and let it just flow. Don’t over think things, just let things happen and most importantly take time for people. We have some great articles on people doing exactly this, finding the importance of balance and loving what they do. Take for e.g. Pro paddle boarder James Casey, see his story page 40 and 41, and what about Briony from Chase & Hunt see the recipes on page 34 through to 37 tell me those delicious treats have not come from a place of love and passion. Surefire boards page 32 and 33, Mick has found extreme balance in his world and such a credit to him. Speaking of people finding a great work life balance we can go one step further and there is Bec and Justin from Trip in a Van, travelling oz. with 3 kids in tow, what a couple, what a family and what an adventure. They bring our feature story on page 8, 9, 10 and 11 which comes from experience and their personal adventure well worth the read.

We have many providers of the industry whether your passion is boating, caravanning, camping, travel and outdoors, we have some really good products and service providers that can make your time on holidays more fun and hassle free , so please support these Businesses, you can find an extensive list of them on www.lifestlyeandleisuresupercentre.com.au and www.boatiesquotes.com.au , because without these wonderful people we could not bring this monthly publication to you for your reading pleasure. Don’t forget its Valentine’s Day this month and if celebrating is what you do with your loved one, remember you really don’t need to go to extremes, keep it simple and heartfelt and you will have your best Valentine’s Day yet. My 94 year old Grandfather wrote a poem and the last paragraph of this poem reads “ When we seek to sit in judgement and let angry words outflow, it is too late on reflection, to say we didn’t know, endow us, with patience, all times and everywhere and teach us we don’t need to know, we only need to care” This related to how we all get so busy leading us to get frustrated with those around us and pass judgement when we don’t know the circumstances, one reference he relates to is “the lonely aging couple walked down the narrow aisle, holding up the progress of those behind in single file. I was in a hurry and my time was running short and I cursed them for the holdup, their presence there had brought. (I’m sorry I was angry and let bad feelings flow, this last day they shopped together, but you see I didn’t know). Don’t be so quick to judge and be patient with everyone, we are all on our own journey sure, but surely we can all take the time to be kind. What can you do this month that will have your days more fulfilled, meaningful and happy? Loving Life,

Hayles

HOLIDAY SPOTS MARGARET RIVER REGION, WA

LIQUID LIFE & LEISURE

Margaret River, Western Australia is a small town located 3 hours south of Perth. It is largely known for its craft breweries, boutique wineries and epic surf breaks. Not to mention a strip full of attractions, cafés and restaurants. The beach is a short 10 min drive from the regions coastline that hosts some beautiful whales between the June and November months. There is so much to do in the Margaret River region and the scenery around the area is green, lush, diverse and stretches from Busselton and Dunsborough through to Augusta. Not only is there so much to do, there’s also so much to do with your kids and a real sense of adventure! One of the best kid friendly areas in Australia, Margaret River is definitely a place to holiday with your family!

Beginning in Busselton, we recommend staying at the BIG4, fantastic for families as it contains a pool and water play area amongst other things. Be sure to check out the iconic Busselton Jetty and catch the mini train out to the end, stretching almost 2km! Dunsborough is a tranquil destination. Boutique shops and bustling cafes line the main street towards the beach. Calm clear waters line the Dunsborough coast and don’t miss the stunning Meelup Beach. Grab a coffee at Bunker Bay café on your way to Cape Naturaliste, Such a great spot!!

doesn’t limit you at all. Margaret River serves as the name of both a town, river and region that surrounds it. Impressive coastline, amazing limestone caves and luscious green vineyards that stretch for kilometres. We recommend popping into Colonial Brewery, they serve craft beer and delicious wines. Although the icing on the cake for us was the playground. Enjoying a beverage while the kids play!

There is simply loads to do between Dunsborough and Margaret River. It suits all ages and family dynamics which is the beauty of Margaret River. Many of the breweries and wineries have playgrounds or kid friendly activities, therefore this region LIQUID LIFE & LEISURE

While in this absolutely beautiful region, you simply must check out one of the many caves. The tours can be self guided or guided throughout the caves. We opted for the self guided one so we could do at our own pace. Mammoth Cave was fantastic and we all really did enjoy it. It’s not to long of a tour and our boys thought it was awesome searching for pirate treasure. Making it fun for them makes for a smooth sailing tour! This beautiful limestone cave that lies in the national park of Margaret River, is one of the largest and easily accessible of them all.

If you’re after some down time, crystal clear blue waters, quiet coastal township, Yallingup is where its at. We stopped in here for some lunch and its didn’t disappoint! Amazing views and a fantastic natural playground.

When leaving the caves, take a pleasant drive through the majestic Boranyap Forest. The attraction of this drive is the tall pale-barked Karri trees, reaching heights of 50 metres or more which line the hilly slopes and valley of lush green forests.

While staying in the region, we opted to park up at Big Valley Camp. Nestled among the rolling hills of a family owned working sheep station, Big Valley is only 10 minutes from Margaret River township. It’s location is central to it’s tourist attractions and is also pet friendly. The owners of

Taking your kids to Margaret River may initially seem silly due to it’s tourism of wineries and breweries, however this kid friendly area is well worth holidaying with your children. Berry Farm, Amaz’n Maze, Simmo’s Ice Creamery, Country Life Farm are just some of the activities on hand for your kids to enjoy!

this campsite are among some of the friendliest we’ve met. If you happen to be there at the right time, you can even help out with the lambing, where you can vaccinate, dock tails and clip the ears of all the young lambs. It was awesome to see our kids get involved, learning and doing something they wouldn’t normally do. Margaret River was definitely one of our favourite places to visit while travelling around Australia. We would love to go back here as there is so much to see and do in the region. Put it on your list and experience all that Margs (as the locals call it) has to offer!

Congratulations!

ABELL POINT MARINA

Abell Point Marina continues to prove day in day out why it has the great name for itself that it does. It is not coincidence or luck, more so well thought out, planned and a strong focused team, who seem to have a vision. This long term vision some years back is why new developments for 2017 are going to take place. Abell Point Parkway has been several years in the pipeline with 2.5 hectares of private parkland

is currently being developed to create a leisure hub within the Marina Precinct. This Leisure precinct will be for Marina Guests and the Whitsunday community to enjoy. This new development will only forge Abell Point Marina further into their ranks and guests will definitely extend their stays while at the marina to enjoy such a beautiful Marina Village Lifestyle.

The new precinct once completed will boast an area of lush parkland, stunning views over the Marina precinct, a 35m round splash park with water fountain play area, an intimate outdoor space for weddings and ceremonies, an open area for hosting concerts and events, seating and relaxation areas, a mobile cafĂŠ and a beach area. With completion set for June 2017 it aligns perfectly for a launch party which will celebrate the start of the cruising calendar and one that should be scheduled now for all boating and travel enthusiasts around the Country. When you think that Abell Point have got it nailed and this development would somewhat satisfy most, they in their normal form throw another amazing advancement and under construction currently is a 2 story-story floating pontoon office which has been designed to be reminiscent of a superyacht. With the increase in occupancy for vessels over 20m+ in the marina it became obvious to the Abell Point team that a new, multi-purpose office/ amenities block was required to provide the best service possible to their valued customers. The office design is bathed in wooden paneling, stainless steel and open spaces, designed to make full use of the natural tropical Whitsunday sea breeze.

Completed it will boast 12 first class private en-suite bathrooms/ dressing rooms and a fully equipped laundry area on the first floor, whilst the second floor will provide a fully serviced customer hub complete with an exclusive waterfront sundeck area offering stunning marina views. The contemporary sundeck will offer an exclusive customer lounge offering a range of complimentary services such as beverages, Wifi and newspapers in a unique marina setting. Customers will be able to relax with views over the marina whilst they socialize with friends, utilize the Wifi or relax with a cool drink as the sun sets. Oceans 20 will provide a superb addition to the marina’s already first-class facilities. Together with these new developments, their being the first Marina in the world to attain the 5 Gold Anchor Global Marina Accreditation in 2016, this Marina definitely needs to be on your holiday calendar. Abell Point Marina being situated in the Whitsundays, and the amazing Airlie Beach this is truly a holiday of a lifetime and one to be experienced. For further information contact the team at Abell Point Marina: abellpointmarina.com.au.

7 Days of...

Fraser Coast your ultimate itinerary

DAY ONE

7 Days of...

Arrive at the Barge, Inskip Point – Rainbow Beach.

DAY TWO

This is definitely one of my f avourite parts of the trip, 5 :30am arrival at the barge, sun r ising and your holiday ahead o f you. The excitement, the anticipation and the pure feel ing of your body hitting relax ation while your phone loses s ervice, exactly why we work s o hard day after day through out the year.

Starts quite early, why wouldn’t it when you hit the hay at 7pm the night before. The kids have had breakfast, brushed their teeth, are lathered up with sunscreen and already swimming, it is not even 8am. The day is spent by the creek, swimming, sleeping, reading, eating, did I say swimming, reading, a little more camp set up and organising, lunch, afternoon tea, swimming and some quiet time in the shade before dinner preps’ game of logo with the kids and bed.

For our spot at Fraser Island we catch the barge and then we have 40 minutes’ drive down the beach, enjoying creek crossings, negotiating wash outs and loving the sea breeze and salt air. “Heaven I have arrived.” We then have approx. 1 hour trip across the island to the Western beach dependant how heavy and loaded we are, the condition of the track and what traffic is coming the other way. On the other side we are met by gorgeous water views and perfectly sunny skies, did I say I am in Heaven? With such an early start this morning we are all hungry and thirsty so we park and prepare an easy meal before our set up begins. The rest of the day involves kids paddling and kayaking in the ocean and the creek, us unloading and setting up house for the next week, getting dinner organised so we can enjoy the first sunset of the holiday.

DAY THREE For those of you reading this that have been to Fraser Island, you will know that your days follow suit the same thing different day most days and at no point do people get bored, or look for other things to do. It is just how it rolls. Sure some things happen earlier than some others the day before or vice versa but exactly what happened in day 2 happened in day 3. However today we are planning the tides for tomorrow as we are doing a day trip, which means we have to be gone by 7am tomorrow to give us time over the surf side before returning back. These things seem to require a beer and a wine to discuss and nothing happens quickly. Early dinner, few drinks and off to bed for early start tomorrow.

DAY FOUR

Fraser Coast

We are up and dressed, breakfast and dishes done, nibbles and water packed in case, for whatever reason we miss the tide and have a long wait. Spending a nice day at Lake McKenzie (view details further in article) swimming and relaxing taking pics and we will have a picnic lunch as time will be short to get back on the track to head back to camp. Lake McKenzie with its turquoise and tea-coloured water is one of the biggest attractions of the Island. The lakes are formed by accumulation of water over a thin, impermeable layer of decaying leaves and other organic material. With clear blue water and perfect white sand beach you really do have to make the time to visit this magical spot. After we have enjoyed hours in the water and a great picnic lunch we grab our towels, thongs and other belongings and head for the car for our trek back. We love this place as a family so much time spent together learning so much, or just talking amongst ourselves during our journeys across the island. We arrive back to camp, without fuss, yes we were keeping a close eye on the time as we were taught at a very young age and our kids have been taught there are two things that does not wait for man and that is “tide and time” and therefor when travelling

around Fraser Island it is very important that you are aware of these things otherwise your holiday can come to a quick end or you can end up spending a day or a night somewhere you did not want to be tired, cold and hungry.

We are all happy to have showers, dinner and find our beds. There is definitely something about early nights and camping, I just love my bed a million times more when I am camping.

DAY FIVE Well you guessed it after a huge day yesterday, it was sleep in time, all up and about by 6.30am and yes that is a sleep in. Today we waited for the low tide and head up the beach for some yabbies and we mixed day 2 and 3 activities with some fishing, boating, and then early dinner followed by an eventful night of cards. Girls v Boys, and that’s right the girls took out the title.

DAY SIX Another day trip today, we find ourselves in need of some fresh b read so over to Cathedrals which is only ten minutes down the beach from where the main track comes out from the island, i s a relatively easy run and gives the kids a chance to enjoy an ice cream and us to have a cold d rink, grab some supplies and head back so we can be back by lunch and enjoy an afternoon of swimming, paddling and fishing. Fish for dinner so the boys are in charge of the cooking (must admit t hey are most nights camping). Not looking forward to tomorrow when our holiday comes to an end, but for now making the most of the beautiful sunrises, sunsets and everything in between that makes our holiday and fills our memory banks.

DAY SEVEN Well the time has come that we must pack up, most of our trips to Fraser Island are a minimum of 2 weeks so this is a little hard, however we snuck in an extra trip so we must feel spoilt and not robbed. Today will be pack up and get to the barge and start heading south. The pack up is always hard but the clean-up at the other end is always harder however you continue to do it year in year out. Now I am into about 30 something years of frequenting the island so it can’t be so bad that we don’t want to go back.

Surefire Boards MAKING THEIR MARK

IN THE SURF INDUSTRY Photos courtesy Mick Slattery

Steve Rainford frontside snap - photo by Mick Slattery

Surefire Boards started with ONE goal, to be the best in the industry, for design, manufacturing, price and service. While this may seem a huge mountain (or wave) to climb, Surefire Boards are making their mark, with boards to suit all skill levels - from the entry-level weekenders to World Champions and everyone in between, Surefire has shaped it. Constantly testing and refining ideas to deliver the most up to date products on the market, Surefire is one of the leading suppliers of Stand up Paddle boards (SUP’s) and Surfboards. Custom boards are shaped in their factory located in Helensburgh on the Coal Coast of Illawarra, Wollongong and have several factories overseas that produce their production range of SUP’s.

Custom boards designed, shaped and glassed here in Australia With their extensive range of products and accessories, with an endless supply of knowledge, it’s easy to see why so many board riders go straight to Surefire. Mick Slattery, Founder & head designer of Surefire Boards personally tests all new designs of every new surfboard, SUP and race board. All boards (both production & custom) are precision cut using CNC machines to ensure every board is exact, every time from Mick’s testing and refinements. “We are very lucky to have the ability to offer both production boards and custom boards including surfboards and SUP’s. Designed specifically for the rider, their ability and weight range. We use CAD designed programs to get the exact board required and state of the art materials for strength and durability. Our designers and shapers have many years of experience in the industry allowing the rider freedom to dream up their perfect board. Or simply grab one off the rack, our range caters to everybody from beginners, entry

level right through to high performance advanced surfing.” Mick said. We also feel that everyone is a surfer, they just might not know it yet, so every SUP board we design has the ability to be surfed well. With different fin options, as you get more confident on the board, it will grow with you as you start to catch small waves. When you learn to catch bigger waves the board will start to respond and perform for you giving you even more confidence. We love surfing and paddling, and want the best products under your feet so you get the true feeling of these amazing sports, we have even split up range to suit your lifestyle, from cruiser, performance, fitness or beginner. ARE YOU...

“Weber Curious?” You have seen them at your mate’s place, you have seen them at your brother in laws, you have seen them camping and at caravan parks and you have spotted them in the window at your local shops.

I write this article, I will admit, coming from a “weber curious” point of view.

this is where our traditional style has come from, open flat plate, no lids to lift and your old school technique. The thing with a “Weber” is you throw all your skill and what you have been taught over the years and even almost throwing family tradition with it out the window and have to re visit the school of BBQing and have trust in the Weber experts and the hand book when it says cook on the grill and keep the lid closed. Yep you got it, not on a plate, and definitely keeping the lid closed. At this point you are wondering what will your Dad say the next time he is over for dinner? Is there a small part of you that feel you have betrayed everything you have been taught? But keep in mind that you, in this process will also convert your friends and family before too long.

As a young child we grew up to our dad cooking Barbies and

I have sat back, wine in hand and watched my husband transition

You know they are edging their way into your life, your back yard and your camping trip. You also know they are too popular to not consider as your new way of outside living and cooking. It is fair to say you have your lovers of Weber, you have your lovers of a traditional BBQ that seem to be way too curious to not be giving this style of BBQ consideration.

into being fully fledge “Weber” lover. Seeing him pass through what we call the “Weber curious” stage, this process did not come easily. He loves to watch his food cook and I must say he is a “lid lifter”. The more though he cooked on his Weber the more he realised just what these beauties are capable of and the flavour that can come from such amazing cuts of meat. We travel and live out of our van so the “Weber Baby Q Premium” is perfect for us. Its height, with lid open being only 60cm, and closed at 39cm, width 69cm, depth 54cm and total weight only 11.2kg it is easy to store when between locations. Its cooking area is approx. 43cm x 32cm so we can have an Australia Day BBQ, it is large enough to still cater for guests and with its cooking height of 15cm you can get a good sized roast into this baby.

The “Webers” come with a great hand book that gives you all your cooking times for different styles and cuts of meat. It also has great recipes to try, accessories and is a great read and handbook to keep close at all times. We were supplied our “Weber, Baby Q” by the amazing team at Coastline BBQs on the Gold Coast with 3 stores, one at Oxenford, Southport and Tweed Heads, they know their stuff and they will know what product is right for you. Visit their site www.coastlinebbq.com.au. Or for those of you in different parts of Australia www.weberbbq.com.au Whatever you do, get a Weber in time for your Easter getaway.

SHOWING UP

IS HALF THE BATTLE Why is it when it comes to work, school pick up, dinner reservations with friends we are all so very reliable and able to meet our deadlines and commitments? Yet when it comes to our 5.30pm class at the gym, this seems to be negotiable. Something so important to our longevity of life, something so important to our health and mental wellbeing and something so important that it makes us better people for those that work with us live with and spend time with us. Seems crazy doesn’t it, that one of the most important things we can do for ourselves and yet we keep on putting it off till tomorrow. Like any important meeting the key to this is scheduling the time. Put it in your diary, let all your friends know, let your husband, wife, kids know so they can support you and know you won’t be available at this time.

A part time attitude will always bring a part time result. If you want to commit to your training like you commit to everything else in your life, than schedule it like you do everything else in your life and treat it as just as important. Once you commit to it, the results will be evident and you will find yourself with more energy and it will become just part of your day. It is proven that any change takes about 3 weeks to become normal, so get in there and push through for 3 weeks and find your training groove. Not found your training style yet? There is plenty of options • • • • •

A great all over training that finds you in shape with good nutritional

habits and worth trying is CrossFit, if you want to try something completely out of the norm. There are many CrossFits boxes around and all are ready to welcome you. You do not need to be fit to start, this is part of the process, you go to get fit. If you are on the Gold Coast you could touch base with CrossFit Meraki, www.crossfitmeraki.com.au this place prides itself on welcoming new members and making them feel at ease through the beginning stages. WITH

2016 STAND UP PADDLE CHAMPION James Casey has always had a connection to the ocean. From a young age he was surfing, moving into kitesurfing in his teens and only in recent years moving into Stand Up Paddle Surfing and racing with a new edition of most recent hydrofoil surfing. James, after competing in his first stand up paddle event in 2014 is an active and highly respected member of the local Sydney, Australian and International paddle

community, building his reputation for being strong in both aspects of the sport. With only a few years under his belt in the sport, it proves his strong love for the sport when placed 2nd at the SUP World Tours Sunset Beach pro, placing 4th at the prestigious Molokai 2 Oahu and most recently being crowned the overall Stand UP Paddle Champion for 2016. Not bad for only starting paddling for 5 years and competitive for 3.

With surfing hotspots in Sydney being crowded, James was looking to find new spots and so was born his love for stand up paddle. “Originally a surfer, I got into Stand up Paddle Surfing in an effort to get away from the crowds in Sydney and surf new sport at outer reefs, Casey says. With a love for surfing, hydrofoil surfing, swimming, kite surfing and everything to do with the ocean you can see why he was born to do exactly what he is doing.

LIQUID LIFE & LEISURE

MAKE YOUR SUNDAY COUNT!

Sunday Spurs

MAKE YOUR SUNDAY COUNT!

Are you looking for your next holiday destination or Sunday road trip? THE INLAND DAMS ARE A GREAT HOLIDAY CHOICE OR FAMILY DAY OUT. There is so many things to do when visiting the dams and so much quality time spent with family and friends. Picnics Get a group of friends together and head to the dams for a picnic. Pack up the picnic basket and head and enjoy the road trip (remember it is not always about the destination) usually the roads and the drive to most dams have a beautiful drive out to them so be sure to take it all in. Once arrived throw the picnic blanket out, unpack the basket and settle in for a great day. Fishing There is always fishing from the banks or if you have the boat, head out and enjoy a day fishing. Nothing beats teaching the kids a little about baiting the hook, casting, and taking

the fish off. Take the time out to get amongst the day with the kids. Paddling Dams are always great to load the boards and kayaks on and work on your technique if you’re a beginner or explore if you have the skill. The dams are usually quite calm and therefor perfect to build your confidence. You can relax and enjoy hours of fun on the water. Skiing, boarding and tubing. Who doesn’t love a day on the water skiing, boarding or tubing? That feeling when you first put the board or skis on grab the rope and head off, freedom comes to mind. A day full of fun, laughs, stacks, and working up a mean appetite. Lunch by the LIQUID LIFE & LEISURE

water’s edge before starting all over again after lunch. Tubing is a great family sport that allows everyone to get involved. Bush walk You can set off after lunch and enjoy some of the trails you will find around the dam and explore and enjoy the wildlife and serenity. Time away and Sundays don’t need to be complicated or expensive, find things local to you to learn and explore. This will keep your kids happy, will allow you to engage your friendships all while staying active and outside. Not to mention the kids will not look at their devices all day and sleep well that night. Happy Exploring. 47

More and more parks are investing into the wonderful world of Glamping, and for good reason. When you look on websites you can see a range of accommodation options from non-powered sites, to powered sites, waterfront premium sites, cabins and now safari tents or as we all know it best “glamping tents. For those of you that have not yet experienced this way of holidaying, you need to change that and get yourself booked in.The experience of being amongst nature, yet having the mod cons that you know and love really does bring an experience second to none. It is an accommodation option that suits the seasoned camper and traveller and also ticks all boxes to the non-camping person and city slicker. What is not to love about the chance to live in such luxury while being able to watch the sunset,

sunrise, lay underneath the stars or moonlight? There is something about the way this experience leaves us feeling that keeps us coming back for more. Glamping tents can be found anywhere from caravan parks wishing to offer more luxury to their great location, hotel resorts wanting to give their guests a more minimalistic experience while keeping with their high end inclusions, or farm stays and the likes wanting to offer more accommodation options to their exquisite locations. So whether you are already the camping type, the city slicker or sitting on the fence this experience is truly for everyone. If you are looking for some unique experiences check out www.glamxperience.com.au for some of their partners that have some truly amazing safari

tents and experiences. If you have a venue that you could improve your guest experience through this style of accommodation, get in contact with Glam Xperiences, as Australia needs more of these around the Country and will raise your revenue at the same time. A positive aspect of glamping is that people are willing to pay for these experiences. Depending on the level of luxury, and the total experience, the price range lies between $150 till $1000 a night. The temporary structures offer quick building times, and easier permit processes. Thanks to that you get a fast Return on Investment and this can boost a lot of businesses. Businesses like vineyards, rural farms, wellnesses, hotel resorts and campgrounds can benefit from the glamping trend that is here to stay. Get involved with Glamping now.

Story: Candice Panton

Staying positive at work is one of the most important things. When you don’t feel pressure, stress or just down in general, you work better, harder and you’re present in your day. 1. Prioritise your work - make lists. I love lists! The feeling of accomplishment when you can cross things off your list is amazing. It keeps you on track for the day, which in turn will keep you happier. Plan out your day and stick to it. 2. Recognise stress and address the cause don’t let stress take over your mind while you’re working. Evaluate the cause and put a stop to it. If you have too much going on, deadlines too tight etc - let someone know, asking for help (if you have someone who can!) is only a good thing. 3. Go with the flow - remember, you simply cannot control everything that happens. Take each moment as it comes, if things go wrong, just know that its only that moment. Work through it and come out the other side better than ever. 4. Get plenty of sleep - who openly admits they don’t sleep enough? Me! Who’s trying to fix that? Me! When we don’t get enough sleep, are bodies react and its not in a positive way. Aim to get 8 hours of sleep every night. Things can wait. Your wellbeing is more important than the list of unread emails, believe me.

5. Eat foods throughout the day that keep you focused and on track. Don’t eat junk or sugary foods. Stick to wholesome foods and lots of water! 6. Keep your work space organised - No one likes mess, even more so when you’re trying to work. Keep your desk and office clean and tidy, get organised, have a place for everything and keep it simple. 7. Avoid people in the workplace that suck up your time - your time is precious and shouldn’t be wasted. Keep focused, steer clear of time wasters that do nothing for your productivity. 8. Work on your communication skills - being able to communicate better and more effectively is a huge positive for your work and business life. Read up online for tips and tricks on helping achieve this. 9. Bring your sense of humor - no one likes to be around a negaitive nelly, ooze confidence and laugh! You don’t have to be serious every minute. 10. Start each day with a positive thought - wake up and start your day with a positive thought. Be grateful for what you have, not what you’re missing. Stick to these 10 helpful tips and better yourself for the year ahead, stay organised and live the best balanced work and home life you can.

Do yourself & your loved ones a favour – get yourself an Automatic Satellite Dish

If you are a seasoned traveller and caravan owner you will know how this story goes.

Arrive at your destination, van is set up, you crack a cold beer and pull out the manual satellite dish. There are times you turn up and this set up is done inside 30 minutes, then for no reason you can understand, make sense of or rationally handle you are still pointing and shooting the dish, you have your phone out with every app downloaded that has the chance of helping and you are 1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours, 4 hours and even 5 hours into trying to get a signal with no luck. Has the wife now disappeared to let you mumble under your breath to yourself, are you now the entertainment of the park? Well, for all those about to invest into a Caravan, take it from us an investment into an automatic sat dish needs to be part of your initial caravan investment. You spend upwards of $30,000 on a caravan, budget from the start on one of these. If you are already travelling and you have a manual set up – do yourself, your wife and your marriage a favour and get an automatic set up and be present in your holiday and travels from the moment you have set up your van. We have recently transitioned to a Bluestar Automatic Satellite dish from a manual set up and to be able to get television reception Australia wide and in remote areas and within minutes from turning up has added incredibly to our experience and travels. I get it, that tv should not be emphasised on too much and your main focus when travelling, when you should be out experiencing the outdoors

Whether you are a novice to automatic systems or a seasoned professional, the easy to use Bluestar Automatic satellite dish is your answer to entertainment when travelling. I know for sure that since making our investment into one of these we will never go back to an antenna set up again. We turn up press the power button and it is as simple as the automatic satellite dish lifting and locates the correct satellite for Foxtel, Austar and VAST sat tv. There is enough barriers and hurdles that you can come up against while living this lifestyle, so why not minimise and control the ones you can and give more time to the things you love doing. The investment is truly worthwhile. We looked into various options through this process and you cannot go past the VANSAT range. We have estimated that we will get back at least 25 half days a year from this investment, the mood of our campsite on arrival is priceless and never have a risk of nothing to do on a rainy day when you have played every board game, every card game and read all your books available in your van and just want some quiet tv time. the van from around 4.30am and for most of the day, but I must admit after sun has set nothing beats a hot shower, bed and an episode of your favourite show. The experts do say everything in moderation, so there is a time and place for everything and TV in your van is one of them. The Charity Family

paddle boarding, swimming , walks and the list goes on, however it is nice to return end of the day and watch the news, or your favourite shows it is what completes the entire experience of being a way.

FACTORS TO THINK OF WHEN INSURING YOUR

“home away from home” So you have just purchased your Caravan, Motorhome or Camper Trailer and preparing for your first trip away. You have checked off your list and organised insurance and feeling very pleased with yourself. Have you though been thorough with this approach and factored in some very key components to this process. 1. IS THE INSURANCE COVER AUSTRALIA WIDE OR ON STATE BASIS? You need to be extra vigilant when you are organising cover to ensure you are being covered to suit your purpose. There are covers that only cover you for the state you take it out in, it is important you raise this question and include Australia wide cover if your travels take you across the borders.

2. WHAT IF YOU GET STUCK WITH MECHANICAL FAILURE?

3. HAVE YOU UNDER OR OVER INSURED?

This is something that does happen to you, it is not just stories you read about others. This can, may and possibly will happen if you are spending time on the road travelling. It is important that you have adequate cover and policies in place that you are not left stranded in places waiting weeks for parts and assistance. Depending on the vehicle qualifying, there are roadside assistances available for your tow vehicle, along with extended warranties that are very suitable to those on the road travelling.

This is something that you need to be wary of and speak with experts in this field to ensure you have the right policies and the right value.

4. WHERE CAN REPAIRS BE DONE IF THIS IS REQUIRED? When you are insuring these questions need to be raised, don’t wait until you are stuck in a town with no assistance to take the time to ask this question, it is way too late at this point and the answers you will be wanting we can bet you won’t get. The question needs to be asked at the time you take your policy out.

5. FACTOR IN WHAT THE CHANCE OR PROBABILITY OF AN INCIDENT IS? If you factor this in and prepare for the unexpected from word go at least if you do end up on the wrong side of what you expected from your holiday, at least you can have confidence you are going to get the help and assistance you need and in a timely manner. Finding the right team to handle your insurance is more important than the time you took finding your pride and joy, the wrong cover you could find yourself back where you started and out of pocket.

The team at Westcorp Capital can truly help you through what can be an overwhelming process. They take the time to talk you through the above and more to get you on the road and keep you on the road. Westcorp also provide Australia wide roadside assist, which is substantially cheaper than other options in the current market and covers both car and what is being towed. The cover also is for any driver and can be purchased at any time and does not need to be purchased at time the item is purchased.
