editor’s thought...
Hello LL&L Legends,
Another month has passed us by and here we are planning our Christmas Day with loved ones, our holidays and trying to squeeze in our shopping for gifts. I don’t know about you but I am trying to keep my shopping this year well thought out. I don’t want to make a purchase just to get another present crossed off the list. I want to buy with heart, I want to purchase and pass on gifts that the recipients not only love but know that thought went into it. Do we find ourselves on this rollercoaster at this time of year of putting productivity first? Are we buying from the head and not the heart because we have to cross things off our “to do list”? Take the time to stop and enjoy the buying process this Christmas. Take the time to research what you want to buy and head out, don’t wander the shops aimlessly. There is still plenty of time to purchase on line from local stores and have delivered in time for Christmas. We have some great products and clients on board that have some unique products that make great gifts. This year we are trying to support our network as much as we can. If you just think about supporting your own network and community the gifts will keep on giving. Buy local when you can, support your town where you live.
This edition like all of them we have loved putting together, this one though seemed to have a real vibe to it. Possibly because it was attached to the Christmas season, maybe it is the growth and momentum our magazine is gaining either way it has been a load of fun. We welcome Bec & Justin from “trip in a van” to our team this month as they share some of their travels with us, if you have not heard of these guys jump to their article and have a read. Travelling Australia with 3 young kids in tow, what true legends they are. This is such a busy time of year and everyone has so much on their plate. Work is busy, shopping centres are busy, and roads are busy so please be patient with people. Don’t be in a hurry and don’t allow yourself to get worked up unnecessarily it only upsets you in the end. Everyone has choices so this Christmas choose to be chilled out and relaxed, even if it means taking the old advice of fake it until you make it. I assure you being chilled out and relaxed certainly beats the alternative. Merry Christmas to you all, and we would absolutely love to get some pics in and stories of your travels. Trip In A Van HAS A FAVOURITE CAMPSITE IN AUSTRALIA The Cape Range National Park on the West Coast of Australia is an amazing adventure and its Epic coastline is hard to beat. From the crystal clear blue waters and white sands of Turquoise Bay, to the colours of the cliffs that form Yardie Creek gorge. The Beauty of this place is breathtaking and has constantly called for us to return since visiting in June Last year. 08

Cape Range is located around 1100km north of Perth and only a 45 minute drive from the remote town of Exmouth in WA. It’s a sealed road all the way and there are plenty of campsites to choose from. They are all 2wd accessible and sites must be booked online at Park Stay WA and you need to book ahead in the busy times. There are campsite hosts at each campground and they are a wealth of knowledge and will look after you when you arrive. They are volunteers and they look after the onsite toilets and ensure everyone there has booked and in their correct site. There are plenty of sites that can easily fit large caravans, but also sites that are only suitable for small vans or tents. Be sure to check the size of your site when booking online. One point to note is that these are all selfsufficient campsites with no power or water available. Some of the campgrounds allow generators and there is a water fill point on the side of the road near the Milyering Visitor Centre. We started our trip here by doing a day trip from Exmouth out to all the camp sites and choosing which
ones suited us before we booked online. The website does provide maps of all the camps, but we found it really helpful to check them all out before locking in our stay. Our pick of the campgrounds is Osprey Camp. It is the largest campground with the most sites available, but it has the most amazing view of the lagoon and outer reef right from your site. We only stayed here 2 nights as it was booked out due to demand. We moved around to a few other camp grounds that were amazing as well. Kurrajong and Yardie Creek camps. Kurrajong camp is about halfway along and is tucked just in behind the fore dune which can be a great thing if the wind gets up a bit which it can along this coastline. We caught a heap of good fish right off the beach out the front of the camp here. The kids absolutely loved the shallow water and we met some great families as well. Yardie Creek is the last camp along the road and is right near the carpark where you can do a boat tour up the gorge, or you can do the gorge walk up to the lookout which is amazing and only a few k’s round

trip and we easily managed with our 3 kids. Great spot for a family photo at the top. The colours of the gorge that blend into the blue of ningaloo reef are hard to believe. It actually looks photo shopped while you’re looking at it. This camp is a great one if you have your own boat as well. The boat ramp is only a few hundred metres away and a lot of people just leave their tinny moored up out the front of the campground for their entire stay. It’s only a short trip to the outer reef where the fishing gets even better and some big reef species like coral trout are on the table. The fishing along this coastline is fantastic, just be sure to check you have correct licences and be aware of the zone that you’re in. A lot of the areas directly in front of the camps are zoned as recreational so it’s fine to fish out the front, but a lot of other areas are protected zones and have restrictions in place as to what’s allowed. Check restrictions for your area here Fishing. We landed many spangled emperor and mangrove just off the beach while swimming around with the kids and playing on the beach. Just set up a rod holder and wait for
09
that drag to start singing when you hook up. It was some of the easiest fishing I’ve ever done and great for the kids to reel in some cracker fish. If free camping is not your thing, there are 3 Great caravan Parks close by. There are 2 in Exmouth and one a bit closer to the national park called Lighthouse Caravan Park. They are all great spots to stay if you’d prefer a powered site and just do day trips out to the different beaches and attractions of Cape Range. The town of Exmouth has everything you need with a shopping complex with 2 IGA grocers, cafes,
restaurants, mechanical repairs, tackle shops, a marina and much more. Be aware though, groceries here are expensive, but it’s great to support the local small businesses and stock up when you get here. Aside from the caravan park facilities of pools and playgrounds, there is a free water park right in town which is great for the kids. For the coffee lovers chasing a good brew, the best coffee we found in town was from a van that parks out the front of BIG4 Parks at Exmouth . So after 11 months of travelling Oz in our van, Cape Range National Park on the Ningaloo coast has
been our favourite spot and plan on returning next year. There is so much to experience there; we only just scratched the surface in our 2 weeks there. We hope this helps others to plan a trip and get out and enjoy this amazing place. Check out all the photos and videos from this great family living the Australian dream and follow their adventures on Facebook Trip In A Van or look up our website www.tripinavan.com.au

Charging your World
Have you ever been caught out? The kids are with the baby sitter and you are enjoying a nice date night with hubby, when you go to make that one phone call to say goodnight to the kids and your phone is dead flat? What about a morning hike when camping, or taking the tinnie out for an afternoon fishing, sure we all don’t want to live by the charge of our phones but it is inconvenient to have a flat phone. Whether it is a safety perspective, or one that you cannot capture that photo of the best fish you have caught in a long time or to check in with the kids, we all have good reason to keep that phone charged and not always is a car cigarette lighter or power available to us. PowerKiK provides you with this solution of a great range of solar power kits and storage packs that allow you to hang off your back pack while hiking or lay out on the bow of the boat and charge up your phone, the packs allow you to race out the door and throw in you handbag when going for dinner and charge up your phone while having dinner. There is a range of units to suit different purposes ones that will sort your laptop , and even larger units that will power your camping requirements when you are not allowed a petrol generator or just want to go solar. So stay connected, stay safe and get the most out of your devices with the PowerKiK range. You rely on your phone as a calendar, access to the web, email, and to communicate with friends and family. It’s an extension of you. But without a charge, a world of information and access disappears. That’s
why we developed the Milo, to ensure that wherever you go, you’ll never be too far from a convenient charging resource. It’s simple to use and, through its multiple connectors and USB port, can charge phones, iPods®, cameras, gaming devices, even rechargeable batteries. The lightweight Milo Solar Chargers use the sun to refuel batteries so you’re making the smart, ecological decision by investing in solar to charge your devices. And because it’s so compact, it’s an easy travel partner.
Charging Multiple Devices
Each Milo Solar Charger is equipped with multiple charge ports allowing you to refuel 2 or more devices at once with one charger.
Charging Speed
You’re looking for more than a trickle charger. All of the Milos offer quick charging USB ports that deliver more than 4x the power of a typical laptop USB port.
Efficiency
You don’t want to be carrying a blanket sized charger to just charge your phone. The Milo Solar Chargers maximize their open size with over 95% of the open surface dedicated to nothing but solar collection. That’s 20% more efficient than a comparable product.
Portability
At just over 0.25″ thick, the Milos solar panels fold up neatly and stay closed when packed away. They’re also among the lightest and smallest total folded volume chargers on the market – meaning you don’t have to sacrifice space in your pack or your lower back to bring them along.

DAY ON E
bourne-adelaide-gor.html http://www.australia.com/en/itineraries/mel
MELBOURNE TO LORNE
Morning pretty port city of the Drive into Geelong, 75 kilometres (47 miles) south-west of Melbourne. Stop for brunch at one of the many local cafés - King of the Castle, Box Office and Freckleduck all have excellent coffee - before continuing on the road to Torquay. Torquay is where the Great Ocean Road begins and is often dubbed the ‘Surf Capital of Australia’ thanks to its world-famous Bells Beach. It is also the birthplace of leading surf brands Rip Curl and Quicksilver. If you're a first-time surfer, book a private lesson with the Torquay Surf Academy, which includes equipment and a personal coach. Afterwards grab a sandwich or house-made pie at the Torquay Larder. Afternoon The great waves continue at Fairhaven and Eastern View worth a stop for avid surfers en route to the seaside holiday resort town of Lorne, a 50 minute drive from Torquay. Once in Lorne, take a dip in the water or keep your feet dry and spend a few hours visiting the galleries and boutiques along the main street. Book well in advance for dinner at fine dining restaurant Brae, which serves a set menu created from the highest quality local ingredients. There are also six luxury guest suites on site.
DAY TWO
LORNE TO PORT FAIRY Morning Enjoy breakfast on the banks of the Erskine River at Swing Bridge Café before heading off on the 1 3/4 hour drive to see the Twelve Apostles, a series of towering limestone pillars jutting out of the Southern Ocean. Park at the Twelve Apostles Visitor Centre and follow the paved pathway to the lookout. A 15 minute walk from the Twelve Apostles is Gibson's Steps. Descend the 86 stairs, which are carved into the cliff face, to reach the beach, where you'll be rewarded with a close up of the Apostles. Afternoon Continue along Shipwreck Coast, named after the wild seas that sent at least 700 ships crashing on the rocks. Explore the coastal town of Warrnambool where, from May to October, Southern Right Whales calve off Logan Beach. From here it's a 30 minute drive to Port Fairy where you can stroll around the fisherman’s wharf and charming whitewashed cottages before a restful night at the boutique hotel, Drift House.
DAY THREE
PORT FAIRY TO COONAWARRA Morning Carry on along the route to the historic township of Portland, an hour drive from Port Fairy. Watch fishing boats unload their catch on the waterfront before taking the 10 minute drive to photogenic Cape Nelson Lighthouse. Afternoon highway, drive 50 the Back on minutes through Nelson and across the South Australian border. Stop at Mount Gambier, which sits on an ancient extinct volcano and is circled by vivid crater lakes. Take the 3.6 kilometre (2.2 mile) trail around Blue Lake, which turns cobalt blue from December to March. Hop back in the car for the one hour drive north to Coonawarra
DAY FOUR
COONAWARRA TO VICTOR HARBOR Morning Driving half an hour north from Coonawarra, visit the World Heritage-listed Naracoorte Caves National Park, where 26 limestone caves house the fossilised skeletons of giant marsupials. Four of the caves are open to the public via a self-guided tour. From here it's a three hour drive to the quaint town of Strathalbyn, where more than 30 heritage-listed buildings sit on the banks of the Angas River. Afternoon Jump back into the car for the 40 minute drive south to Port Elliot. Swim at Horseshoe Bay or surf off Boomer Beach before arriving in nearby Victor Harbor. The seaside town is famed for its horse-drawn tramway (which dates back to 1878) and links Victor Harbor with Granite Island. Ride the tram across the causeway (return tickets $25 per family) to Granite Island, which is home to a colony of little penguins.
DAY FIVE
COONAWARRA TO VICTOR HARBOR Morning Travel through the rolling hills of Mount Compass to the McLaren Vale wine region, a 50 minute drive north from Port Elliot. Visit galleries and taste wine at some of the 45 cellar doors, including Yangarra, d’Arenberg and Hickinbotham Clarendon Vineyard. McLaren Vale is also a haven for foodies. Sit down for lunch at Coriole Restaurant, and let chef Tom Reid prepare you a selection of seasonal dishes with his “Let Us Feed You” menu ($95 per person with matching wines). Afternoon From here it’s an easy 45 minute drive to central Adelaide. Wander the cultural boulevard of North Terrace – home to the South Australian Museum and Adelaide Botanic Garden – then browse the department stores in Rundle Mall. Take the 35 minute tram trip from Rundle Mall to Glenelg Beach for a seaside stroll before heading back into the centre for dinner at any of the city's hottest restaurants. Try Press Food & Wine, Peel St or Ruby Red Flamingo. Finish your trip with a restful night at the plush five-star Mayfair Hotel.

WHY CROSSFIT? WELL THIS IS WHY...
CrossFit Meraki has taken my training to a whole new level. Coach Steph has created the most supportive, energetic and fun place to train. The girls are real, incredibly encouraging, supportive of each other and smashing their goals. I can’t recommend Meraki more highly. Come and join our tribe! ~ Bec | 36 | Lawyer
Before joining Crossfit Meraki, I did no form of exercise. I have been going for 14 weeks so far and I never thought I would say that I LOVE exercise, but I truly do. Yes, some days I still get scared, but the tribe is so supportive & Coach Steph helps push you. If I can do it, you can too. ~ Candice | 31 | Graphic Designer
Crossfit gives you energy and a mindset that continues to challenge you day in day out. Steph at CrossFit Meraki is amazing and offers a great place to train, learn and transform. I would highly recommend CrossFit Meraki, and CrossFit in general as your new form of training and workouts.

on the car, both of which can leave you with a sour taste in your mouth and the possibility that you will not enjoy stand up paddling.
A detailed look into Stand Up Paddle Stand up paddle boards (SUP’s) are so much fun, it is one of the only sports in the world where pretty much everyone, of any age, can pretty much stand up and start to paddle. Riding a SUP is an amazing feeling, firstly you get to go explore rivers, reefs and coastlines and you have a bird’s eye view of all the fish and marine life under you. I have paddled with dolphins, seals and whales around the Coal Coast where our factory is situated. On top of this, it is one of the best all round workouts you can do, and you don’t even know you are doing it as you are having too much fun. It works your core, all your stabilizer muscles, your legs, arms, shoulders, even the tendons in your ankles. Give me a SUP over a gym session any day. SUP’s are also so much fun in the surf (away from crowds of course) because you can catch even the tiniest waves and surf them all the way to shore. They are great during flat spells as you can pretty much surf anything, or simply go for a paddle and enjoy the ocean. A SUP is something the whole family can enjoy too. I have surfed with my kids and our dog on the front of a board. If you are thinking of hitting the water this summer, please get the right advise from someone who knows the sport and will recommend the right board for you, not just someone trying to get a sale. I have spent years honing my craft shaping surfboards and paddle boards, and we only manufacture the best products using the best materials and reinforcements. I have seen some cheap boards pretty much fall apart, crack and delaminate within the first few goes, or a tiny petite girl with a heavy 11’6” board who can’t even get it
I get asked a lot about what boards would suit a beginner or intermediate paddler and it all depends on your weight & to a lessor extent your height. The volume of the board is how much foam is actually inside the board, the more volume the better it floats and the more weight it can take. So here’s a quick rundown Firstly, the longer the board the better it will paddle, but the heavier it will be and the harder it is to manage and store, so we try to squeeze volume into the board in other ways. Secondly the width is a big factor in the stability, I would definitely only recommend a board at least 30” wide at a minimum. We actually make all our cruiser boards at least 32” wide to give maximum stability and keeping enough volume so the boards can be shorter in length without loosing stability. Thirdly the thickness of the board plays a big part as well. Our surf models are usually around 4” thick which allows them to turn really well and cut through the wave, but our cruiser models are 4 ½” – 4 ¾” thick so they float better in flat water. If this is all too confusing we have come up with a formulae for beginners and intermediates to help them calculate the correct volume a board should be. Entry level/Flat water: Times your weight by 205% to give a starting point on the correct volume. So if you weigh 77kg I simply calculate 77 x 205% to give me 157L Intermediate surf = weight x 185% which equals 142L I hope this makes the daunting task of finding your first board a little easier and we hope to see you in the water soon.

Caravanning - The Affordable Summer Getaway for You and Your Family Expenses at this time of year soar, which can make it hard for your family to sneak in a luxurious holiday. Caravanning and camping are by the far most affordable way to spend time with your loved ones in peak holiday time. It’s also unmatched in terms of offering every member of your family with their own personal form of relaxation and entertainment – the sky is the limit. While camping is loads of fun for the whole family, if you want to be extra comfortable on your time away, it’s time to update your caravanning equipment, pack the car and buckle up. Safety and Freedom You get the freedom to put your feet up and your kids are in a safe space to have fun and adventure. With everyone comfortably packed into the car and your fully furnished caravan in tow, things will begin to feel like a holiday as soon as you’ve left your driveway. A locked caravan is way safer than a tent at night, just think about it. Air conditioned comfort Let’s face it, a holiday without air-conditioning doesn’t sound very relaxing. These days, caravans are sophisticated homes on wheels with fully air conditioned interiors. If you’re not totally set up yet, purchasing a few basic caravan parts can allow you and your family to sleep, eat and even watch TV in a temperature that is comfortable for you. Not to mention, washing machines and refrigerators are also available in caravan friendly versions, making sure your family always enjoys being on the road.
Nature on your doorstep The major advantage of taking your family caravanning this summer is that nature is always right outside. This means you can choose any fun outdoor activities to do with the whole family. From cooking, picnicking, bush walks, biking or a bit of cricket. If you camp near the water you can cool off with a quick dip, only to return to the comfort of your fully furnished motorhome. It’s like camping with a dose of comfort for good measure. We won’t say no to that! You’re Experienced Your first camping or caravanning trip is always the hardest. But if you’ve already got your rig and a willing tribe of explorers then you have already combatted half of the battle. All you need to do before you leave is to have all your furniture and appliances in place, purchase the right caravan parts and accessories and make sure you have on hand any spare parts you may need. You’re essentially travelling with the closest thing to your actual home. Not a bad way to holiday, right? So if you’re planning on spending your Christmas holidays in your freedom mover, make sure you pop by Caravan RV Camping online to stock up on everything you may need. If you forget something, we can even post items to your caravan park, how cool is that?
Happy travels!

Sunday Spurs
MAKE YOUR SUNDAY COUNT!
Use your Sundays to your advantage this Christmas With Christmas fast approaching and from the 1st of December, there is only 3 Sundays left before Christmas! Yes, you read that right - just 3. If you’re anything like me, Sunday is your day to get as much done as possible, and set you up for the week. Preparing for the biggest day of the year can be a little overwhelming. But if you make a plan it will seem a little easier to get yourself ready. Make a plan Checklists and to-do lists are my favourite. How fun is it to check off things as you work through your list. This plan will set you up for success. Write down your shopping list for your food, meal plan if you need to, make note of the decorations you’d love to put up, or buy if you are going with

a new look this year and your list of gifts that you have left to buy. Keep it simple though. Meal plan & shopping list What better place to buy fresh produce for Christmas day than your farmers market! From fresh fruit and vegies, even down to your seafood the famrers market will have you covered. Pinterest is a great source for recipe inspiration, before you head off for the markets, write down your list of recipes, the ingredients and buy what you need. Not only will you be ridiciulously prepared, you’ll also save money and nothing will get wasted! Win win! Decorating your home Decorating is fun right! task, but what about the rest of the house? Adding small decorative touches will make your home feel beautiful this Christmas, you don’t have to spend a small fortune to achieve the look you want. Places like Kmart and Target will have all you’re looking for at quarter of the price - and they’re open on Sundays! Yes! Gift sorting & wrapping So I understand that kids are home on Sundays, but I remember as a kid, my mum locking her bedroom door, air con on and if we even just knocked on the door we were told “Go & play!”. What a perfect time for some “you” time while the kids play with Dad, or watch a movie. Sit in the air con, sort your gifts into small mountains and start wrapping. Don’t forget to

label - I have made this mistake before. When everything is wrapped, sort the presents into “home” and “family”. Home being the gifts for Christmas morning, the special moments with your family as soon as you wake up, and family being for your in-laws, or your mums, wherever you’re off to that day. So whether you’re totally organised already, or still have a mountain of stuff to do like myself, Sundays are a great day to be productive but remember - we only have 3 remaining so get planning! Make the most of them, and from our families to yours, Merry Christmas. Stay safe and enjoy every moment. Story by Candice Panton • Photos: Pinterest

5 REASONS TO CELEBRATE YOUR STAFF AT CHRISTMAS 1. Your staff are your squad, without them your business does not grow. They are the reason you have seen another year through, they are the reason for your growth, developments and new projects and clients. 2. The more you celebrate and remind them of their importance the more you get from them and the more they feel appreciated. 3. You ask a lot from your staff throughout the year, which in turn reflects on to their partners and families and celebrating them all at the end of the year shows you care for their families also, and you are appreciative that the time they are spending on your business is time away from their families. 4. We all work better and bring greater results when we work in an environment that we know people care. If you show you care your team will work better. 5. Socialising together can bring a stronger bond which also offers greater productivity in the office. If you can get your team working together and on the same page this will produce a great working environment. This Christmas get your team and their families together and enjoy something as a unit. It does not need to be expensive just something well thought out. Pick a date, get it locked in if you have not already. This can be as simple as a BBQ at a park, lunch at the beach or a restaurant. We are all busy, but you need to take the time to lock this in. Show your staff you care and that they are important and celebrate them and the business growth together.
1. SET GOALS: First things first – think about what you want to achieve. Where you want to be. How you want to feel. It is always so important to work towards something so you can feel accomplished at the end and be proud of yourself!
2. USE A SMALL PLATE: What
happens when we use a large plate? We fill it up to the max and think we
need to eat it all, right? Go for a small plate and keep your portions in
control. Avoid making return trips to
the buffet line. Fill your smaller plate with your favorites and don’t have more than one serving.

you to eat less. 5. REWARD DAY: Often times when we go on “diets” we push all sweets and our favorite treats away. Ironically enough, it is because of this food avoidance that we relapse and one day just splurge on our favorite treats because we have missed them so much! By creating a reward day, it not only helps so you don’t do this, but it gives you a day to look forward to.
