From the Editor... Welcome to our LL&L Family, Well isn’t the year flying by? November edition already! Have you planned your holidays? What about Christmas preparations, New Year’s Eve and what about the dreaded New Year’s resolution? This time of year comes with so much pressure for so many. There is, staff on holidays, Christmas gift shopping to get done, preparing the home for Christmas Day and if you are a business owner – preparing your business to be away. The pressure does escalate and it is important you stay aware and mindful of this. I am sure many of you do the same, but I tell myself every year I will do it differently and each year I find myself in the same position, work up until the 22nd, shop, pack plan between 23rd and 24th. Well instead of doing this again this year, I have changed things up (yay for me). I am a firm believer that you have to design your life for your life. What works for your family and friends does not mean it necessarily works for you. I am also a firm believer in not comparing your life with anyone else’s. There will always be people better off than you and that’s a fact, and there will always be people worse off than you and that a fact. This is not just financially; this can be from a health perspective, fitness perspective or time.

Gap Year all having an amazing time and offering their kids so many wonderful memories, teaching them so much about what is important. Connecting with your kids from such a young age I believe is, key to a great connection with them later in life. There is a reason why they say; “families that play together stay together”. Packing up house and your life to travel fulltime is not for everyone, or not yet anyway. That does not mean you cannot dabble in this lifestyle part time and on holidays. We have some great providers that can get you involved in everything from boating, caravan, camping travel and the outdoors so be sure to have a read of this months’ edition. Happy Reading Living & Loving Life Hayles

We have recently brought on a couple of new families who have sold up and are now travelling Australia full time, and I say “good on them”. This does not mean I want to pack up and do the same (because if the time for me was right, we would be travelling). We are all guilty of living a life of comparison, so I say this to you, every day remind yourself that you are living your life and only your life. Be authentic and true to your experiences and your life. Two great families have joined us this edition see page 50 and 51 for Pyke Clan in a van and also page 52 and 53 for Ozzie Wide Ozzie Pride. We love following these families including those from Trip in a Van and Family

Our whole family absolutely love it here and will definitely return over the coming years to explore some more.

Fishing has got to be one of our favourite things to do

One of the best things about travelling Australia is that

while travelling around OZ. Now it can get pretty tough

Last year on our first Lap of the Australian Coastline, I found a fishing spot that I thought would be my favourite of all time!! But, this year I have found another spot that definitely gives it a run for its money.. So, both these fishing spots are in Broome, Western Australia. One of the most amazing and diverse towns you will come across when travelling Australia. Our whole family absolutely love it here and will definitely return over the coming years to explore some more.

previous year we had met a great young family in Dampier. They were also travelling Oz and they had a roof topper tinny on board as well the lucky buggers! Well you wouldn’t believe it, they had pulled up stumps in Broome after their travels to work and live, so we caught up for a beer and the next day, we were dragging up some monsters in the roof topper tinny. One thing I love about Broome is the diversity of fishing available. There is land based estuary and beach fishing, Inshore reef fishing for small boats and

fella, and he took me to a great land based fishing spot called,” Flat Rock”. It was a bit tricky to get there and i would never have found it without some great local knowledge. This was a cracking land based spot that produced time after time in the few weeks that we stayed in Broome. We got Barra, Jacks and Trevally every time we fished it, I was in Heaven!!!! But this next time we travelled through Broome, It was a different time of year. It was a lot cooler and the water

We launched the tinny from Gantheaume Point which is only a few minutes drive from where we stayed at the Cable Beach Caravan Park. The coastlines here are absolutely beautiful, with red cliffs and jagged rocks that drop straight into turquoise water. It’s stunning and has to be seen to be believed. Can it get much better than that?? I honestly don’t think it can!!!

There was also no provision for outdoor entertainment, and I reckon any caravan needs a little more storage than just a tunnel boot. A grey water tank, and a stone shield to protect the gas cylinders and the van’s front wouldn’t go astray, either.

It comprises a Swift 500 Series four-burner cooktop, grill and oven, 184L Dometic two-door fridge/ freezer, Sphere 900W microwave (which I thought was positioned a little too high – a common problem in many vans!), 12V rangehood,

The spacious living zone, directly opposite the kitchen, is lavishly appointed. THE RIGHT TIME IS NOW

For whatever reason, over the years there has been a misconception that the recreational lifestyle is either for the rich and famous or for the grey nomads. Have you ever considered the benefits of the outdoors, being a boat, a bike, a caravan or simply driving and exploring this continent of ours now?

Why wait till the body gets tired? Why wait till the kids have grown up and deprive them of the opportunity? Give consideration to the old saying “the right time is now. Australia wide we are entering the caravan and camping shows season. This not only allows to dream, it allows to see, feel and then purchase at a special show price that normally does not get repeated for the rest of the year.

The options are generally...

BUY

Get into it, take the plunge and give the couch at home a break. What you will get to see and do will never be on the TV screen and it will be with you forever.

UPGRADE

Most of the sellers will also take your old gear as trade in, they are short of stock, which allows you to jump into the new gear for much less outlay and without the fuss of trying to sell anything yourself.

STAY STILL Stay with what you already have but have your financial position checked.

FA M I LY

Westcorp Capital are fully equipped to go through your financial position with you and to pin point where improvements may be made, be it a refinance of your gear or a complete package which may even include your mortgage. There is hardly a case that cannot be improved. If you are in the market for the life changing plunge, contact Westcorp Capital before you make the final

commitment as they have put together show special packages that will be hard if not impossible to beat. We all hear on the news that the interest rates are at their lowest and in fact, the cycle of increase in interest rates has started. Now will be a good time to lock away some of your commitments with a fixed lower rate and isolate yourself from the movements of the money market.

5 STAR MEAL QUALITY WITHOUT THE PRICE TAG

When you lead a busy lifestyle it’s often hard to find the time to cook delicious, healthy meals for yourself or your family. While buying take-away meals may seem appealing, when you’re time poor, opting for fast food can often result in meals with a higher calorie count and less nutritional value. Frozen meals are another option for those who spend their lives on the run. But finding meals that are wholesome, nutritious and most importantly taste great isn’t as easy as it sounds. Which is why husband and wife team Daniel and Susanne Wuthrich of Gourmet Meals carefully sourced five-star chefs to produce their wide range of tasty and nutritious frozen meals.

“You know why I use Engel? It’s a fridge for life! In Milo there’s an Engel fridge that’s been there for 11 years. It’s been buried in mud, it’s been underwater, it’s done all sorts of amazing things. And all it’s cost is one fuse in all that time! Because it’s an Engel. This fridge replaced the one I’d had for 14 years. And in the end it fell out into the river at Cape York; and I lost it because I couldn’t go in the river because of the crocodiles! Engel is a fridge for life, and I wouldn’t choose any other brand”. - Roothy

Squidding made Ezy’! People of all ages and countries enjoy catching and eating squid but not so when it comes to cleaning them, as I found out on my first disastrous cleaning attempt. That experience prompted me to think there had to be a better way. Over a year or two and, after many prototypes and considerable product testing, I came up with a tool that made the onerous task of cleaning squid much cleaner and easier. With practice anyone can clean squid from start to finish in under a minute – a huge benefit if you have bagged out on squid. The feedback from customers has been more than encouraging. Many have said using these tools has cut their cleaning time by half. Shane Mensforth, the Editor of SA Angler magazine, said he didn’t bother catching squid because he hated cleaning them; now that he has a set of Squidezy tools this is no longer the case. The set comes in 3 different sizes, for different

size squid and they are made from food and dishwasher safe ABS plastic, the same material hard hats are made from. The set of three tools is designed and manufactured entirely in South Australia. You can purchase your set via the web site www.squidezy.com or checkout your nearest stockist. It works and is a great asset in the tackle box, especially when you bag out! Trust us.

The big decision Travelling Australia is something my husband Dan has always talked about, but to me it was something that families only dreamed about. Taking a year off work and travelling this great land sounded amazing but was it realistic? Could we afford it? Would the kids miss school and their friends? How would we go living in a caravan for a year? All these questions would pop into my head so I doubted we would ever do it. Dan and I love the outdoors. We both grew up on the beautiful coastline of Rockingham Western Australia with families that brought us up fishing, camping and 4WDing. We still live in Rockingham and love bringing the kids up here. Rockingham has some of the most beautiful beaches in Australia and we always say we wouldn’t want to live anywhere else, but then again we haven’t seen the rest of Australia. We followed our close friends “Travelling Oz with the Groms” on social media as they did the big lap. We loved watching their journey and couldn’t believe all the amazing places Australia had to offer. After sitting down and working out a budget and how we could do it, our mind was made up!

We did a bit of research on who was the best real estate to go through, as we all know renting your house out to strangers can be daunting. We wanted to make sure they were strict with tenants paying rent on time and that they did regular house inspections.

The Kokoda Force V. It had a great layout with 3 bunks, separate toilet and shower, full kitchen, club lounge and best of all it was off road as we love going off the beaten track! We went down to see our local Kokoda dealer Downunder RV and they were amazing. We ordered our dream

After finding out our beloved 80 series Landcruiser could only tow 2500kg legally we had no choice but to sell it. We started looking at the 100 series Landcruiser which had the 3500kg towing capacity we needed to pull our new home along. After looking at several 100 series we gave up! They were either overpriced, had too many kms on them or needed a lot of work. We then started to do more research into towing vehicles. There was a few on the market but the one that stood out for us was the Mazda BT50. It had 3500kg towing capacity, plenty of room and power to boot! It also had great reviews from our fellow traveling friends the grey nomads. Schooling on the road

The hours the kids would be doing seemed do able, school fees were affordable, we didn’t need internet to do schoolwork and we would have more time to enjoy our travels. Mapping out our trip

to other traveling families, long hours and having school work deadlines was a struggle. Another option was home-schooling but with this I was worried I wouldn’t be teaching them enough. Would the kids be behind when we returned home? Would they need a tutor to catch up? I then heard about Kalgoorlie School of the Air

Made to stay, not fly away ...on the boat.

Commercial Outdoor Umbrellas Made for The Australian Summer. Australians love the sun. If you’re looking to stay safe whether you’re in the garden or by the pool, make the smart choice and invest in a Finbrella. Purpose built for our lifestyle, Finbrellas are designed in Perth for Australia, providing attractive and effective protection against sun, wind and rain. What sets the Finbrella apart is its unique, wind-resistant design. Stable on even gusty days, your new umbrella won’t turn inside thanks to its clever canopy geometry. Rather than relying on vents to reduce the effect of wind on the canopy, Finbrellas are designed with an innovative fin and are designed to allow the canopy to rotate. Allowing the umbrella to move reduces the effect of wind, meaning no more turning inside out or blowing away.

IN THE HOME, ON THE BOAT, OR AT THE BEACH One of the most versatile residential and commercial umbrellas for sale online, the Finbrella is the choice of people across the country. From backyard barbecues to beach getaways and time out by the pool, your new umbrella can go wherever you do. The range of anchoring options includes ground spikes for park trips, movable pavers for blending in with your landscaping, convenient Camlock bases and more, meaning your Finbrella can be easily set up anywhere. Made from high-quality acrylic and polyolefin fabric, your new Finbrella will be with you for summer after summer. Whether you choose the very portable F-160 or the family sized F-220 or F-280, you will be impressed

by the quality and the longevity of your new Finbrella. Hosting a summer party? Consider the F-330 and the F-400 – our largest models – and provide more than 10 m2 of shade. ACCESSORIES AND EXTRAS MAKING YOUR FINBRELLA MORE VERSATILE THAN EVER Alongside our core product range, we can also offer a range of optional accessories making your Finbrella better match your lifestyle. Our polished stainless steel centre pole option delivers superior performance in damp environments – marine grade steel makes it the perfect choice for trips on the boat. Take your Finbrella anywhere with our range of shoulder and zipup carry bags and protective covers, keeping your umbrella safe.

If what the weather people tell us is true, we are experiencing some changes in weather patterns Australia wide. While some areas have floods, others may be having fires, some have cyclones and some are just perfect this time of the year. Any plan we ever make is the basis for the changes we will make to it. So if you are currently travelling or planning to travel, please check the weather patterns applicable to the area

in which you are or going to. But remember, changing or adjusting your plans does not mean forgoing the experience or the enjoyment from the experience, it’s just the timing of it all which may allow you to do more, see more and enjoy more, so stress should be kept to the minimum. Equally important is the cover you have for your gear and possessions. Is your policy covering for floods? Is your policy covering for fire?

LIQUID LIFE & LEISURE

Is your policy allowing you to choose the repairer? Do you get any discount for multiple policies? Do you have roadside assist for the “just in case” times? Westcorp capital are happy to view your policies with you to try and make sure that they are the best you can get. Generally, it’s best to insure with a dedicated insurer for the goods we insure. Westcorp Capital have the relationship with the right insurers for the goods we trust when travelling.

As a reward for our readers, Westcorp capital put together an offer whereby if you insure your caravan, boat or bike through them and choose to let them arrange the insurance for your car, the towing vehicle, they will give you a 10% discount on the car insurance. Westcorp Capital can also arrange for roadside assist on

your car regardless of who the driver is at the time of an incident and it includes some free towing as well in the event you are stuck. They can arrange for warranties as well and certain loan related insurance covers to give you the peace of mind you deserve while trying to get away from it all.
