Hello LL&L Legends,

editor’sthought...

How exciting that Christmas is officially just around the corner. What better time of the year is there to spend time with friends, family and loved ones? Christmas is very special in our family, it is time that we get to spend with our kids as the year can get so busy and very distracted with exams or work commitments that this is a non-negotiable time for us, and one of great importance in our world and Family. With the holiday season closing in on us it is time for you all to give some thought to the service and maintenance of your mode of holiday, whether that be trailers, caravans or boats and your drive / tow vehicle, it is really important that you have them checked and ensure the safety of them is second to none. This is your holiday, your family and your life and no one wants to be taking short cuts just to get away. Remember we have plenty of amazing service providers in our community so be sure to utilise them www.boatiesquotes.com.au or www. lifestyleandleisuresupercentre.com.au , this is what we pride ourselves on. Getting you the best providers, so if you can’t find someone please be sure to give us a call in the office and our team will do the searching for you and point you in the right direction. Towards the end of the year, I don’t know about you but I seem to always find myself reflecting ahead of the old “new year’s resolution” what have I achieved this year, what didn’t I achieve this year, did I work as hard as I should of and how much I planned, was I there for friends, family, staff and work colleagues, was I the best Mum, wife, daughter and friend I could be and what could I have done better? Well I, like everyone I didn’t get it all right, but what I did do was always what I thought was right at the time, and that is all that we can do, make informative decisions and choices with the facts we had at the time and know that, that is enough at any given time. Although we do look back and ponder, we also have that wonderful tool called hind sight, which

we could all make better life decisions and choices if we had the information the future gives us back then in the past when we had to make the decision. So don’t beat yourself up looking back as you were not equipped with the same knowledge, be confident in knowing you made the right decision at the time. So yes I have all this you “beaut” advice to dish out here in my monthly letter, but it does not stop me from being human too and feeling a pinch of guilt, or being disappointed for not being “super woman”. So this November I am going to enjoy, embrace and get excited for the best part of the year is in front of me. I am going to get excited for my now and my short term future and adventure. Long term goals and the “to do list” can just wait until next year. I am not going to waste this lead into the best part of my year by thinking about what I have not done, because I have absolutely killed it this year with what I have achieved and living in the now is so much more fun, more fulfilling and downright rewarding. To all of you that form our community, whether you own a boat, caravan, love the outdoors, travel or a supplier that look after all our travellers, I hope you can take a little of this on board and don’t put too much pressure on yourself, what gets done gets done and what doesn’t well “it is what it is”. Be kind to yourself and other travellers out there, and most of all be patient to all those that you come across. Everyone’s journey is a different one, so don’t be so quick to yell, scream or assume. Remember today is the best day ever, yesterday is gone, and no one knows what tomorrow brings – Today is all we all have! So make it count and love it and enjoy it. Love Life,

Hayley

Broome and Beyond

The pearling capital of Australia, Broome is the western gateway to the Kimberley wilderness - home to world famous Cable Beach sunsets and the natural phenomenon of the Staircase to the Moon. Just a two and a half hour flight from Perth transports you to this tropical oasis of striking contrasts in colour and culture, where the vibe is very relaxed but there's so much to engage the senses. 08

Affectionately known as the ‘pearl of the north’, and thanks to Broome’s unpolluted waters, its South Sea pearls are among the largest and most coveted commercially harvested cultured pearls in the world. Their discovery in the 1800s fuelled a mass migration almost as epic as the gold rush. Japanese, Filipino and Malay pearl divers arrived in droves seeking their fortune, creating a melting pot of cultures that makes Broome the multicultural town it is today.

Image: Jarrad Seng

A great way to learn more about Broome and the Indigenous people, who have lived in the region for thousands of years, is through the eyes of one of the local Yawuru people. Bart Pigram, born and bred in Broome, belongs to a long tradition of pearling workers and musicians. This heritage enables Bart to tell many rich and fascinating stories of life around the beautiful turquoise waters of Roebuck Bay on his Narlijia Tours.

You can witness first-hand how Broome pearls are cultured by taking a cruise to visit local pearl farms like Willie Creek or Cygnet Bay, or pick up a memento of your trip in the dazzling pearl showrooms of Chinatown.

Each year in September the Shinju Matsuri Festival celebrates Broome’s cultural diversity hosting a series of food, entertainment, arts and community events throughout the town. One of the festival’s annual highlights is a long table dinner on Cable Beach under the stars.

Once a bustling hub of pearl sheds, billiard saloons, opium dens and brothels, Chinatown is now home to pearl showrooms and sidewalk cafes and restaurants serving east-meets-west cuisine. This is also where you’ll find another of Broome’s gems - Sun Pictures, the oldest operating outdoor cinema in the world and galleries that showcase works from some of the Kimberley’s most celebrated contemporary and Aboriginal artists.

Cable Beach - 22 kilometres of beautiful white sand and turquoise water – is one of Mother Nature’s finest offerings, alongside the striking rust-red cliffs and 130 million year old dinosaur footprints at Gantheaume Point. What’s more, on certain dates from March to October when the full moon coincides with low tide at Roebuck Bay, she performs the most aweinspiring illusion known as the Staircase to the Moon.

Accommodation-wise, there are plenty of indulgent eco retreats, up-market hotels and chic resorts. There’s just as much choice for the budget traveller too, with a good selection of hostels, caravan and camping grounds. Be sure to book ahead during peak season, from June to August. By day you can do as little or as much as you like. Relax on the beach or by the pool, or get active and go kayaking, whale watching, boating, jet skiing or enjoying the quintessential Broome experience – a camel ride along the beach. Broome is an ideal starting point for a Kimberley adventure. Experience the world’s only Horizontal Waterfalls at Talbot Bay, cruise the pristine Kimberley coastline on a luxury vessel, explore the Dampier Peninsula and learn about Aboriginal culture at one of the many indigenous tourism operators in the region or head to sustainable eco retreat - Eco Beach south of Broome.

7 REASONS WHY FEMALES GET MORE BACK PAIN THAN MALES High Heels

1) They Look HOT!!! But guess what? When you wear "heels" what happens is your pelvis / hips tilt forward, resulting in compression of your lower back causing a dull ache or worse - sciatica. Your calf muscles (YES.... they look so good!) actually shorten which pulls on your hamstrings. What happens is, most women that wear "Heels" for a prolonged period of time find it uncomfortable to wear flats!

Children

2) They are gifts from above... Until the dreaded back ache creeps in! A number of factors are considered here. 1. Pregnancy - often the lumbar area has a prominent curve due to the growing baby. 2. Birth epidural in lumbar vertebrae and the birthing process itself 3. Breast feeding - often posture is compromised causing neck, shoulder and back discomfort (not to mention the increased weight of those big girls in your bra!!). 4. Carrying - Ok hands up who carry's their child on their hip and favours one side? Guilty! Imagine carrying your baby for over 12 months on the same side everyday. What happens is you often tilt the favoured side up to assist in holding the baby, causing muscle memory which will often result in a tilted or rotated pelvis!

Handbags

3) What? You're blaming my Louis Vuitton or is it my Kardashian? Don't shoot the messenger, but YES! When you carry your handbag on your shoulder, you do a number of things.... But firstly before I explain what the heck are you carrying in there? Have you ever weighed this thing? Didn't think so! Besides the weight of 'everything but the kitchen sink' weighing you down, you also compromise your posture by lifting your shoulder so that your bag stays secure. Have a look in the mirror! ;]

Self-Confidence

4) Or lack of! I'm hearing you ask, "How does that have anything to do with back pain?"... A LOT! Do you notice that when you're feeling down, sad, tired etc that you tend to roll your shoulders in? Well when you lack self-confidence, you often find that this is your stance - almost a protective stance. As mammals, we are the only ones that walk up right and expose our internal organs. We often protect the heart centre and keep ourselves closed by creating a curve in the upper thoracic. What this does is causes discomfort in the upper back and neck. Head up, shoulders back, boobs out! You've got this!

Posture 5) As above, so below! Thats right - Head Up, Shoulders Back, Boobs Out! Why? Simple really. What happens when your posture is compromised, you find that not only do you get that burning sensation between your shoulder blades, headaches and lower back discomfort, but you also find it hard to breathe! Do this now - roll your shoulders in, draw your chin to your chest and inhale. Hard isn't it? Now roll your shoulders back, eyes looking straight ahead, inhale... Ahhhh how easy was that? Do you know how important breathing is? Well if you don't breathe, you'll die! (A bit extreme, but seriously!). Posture can influence so much and your core muscles play a big part in this. If you're a mum you maybe asking "What core"?

Putting yourself Last 6) Put yourself first for once! "Please... Like that never happens"! Let's be honest ladies... It needs to happen more! Why? Because if you don't look after you first, you'll start to resent the fact that you didn't when S@!T hits the fan! I get it, being a Mum or a female has it's pressures... and we will "always" put our children, our partners, friends, family and even our BOSSES before us! Somethings got to give! If you can't find time for a massage - you'll carry tension = back pain. If you can't find time to exercise - you'll gain weight = back pain. If you can't take time out to de-stress, you'll end up burn't out, adrenals fatigued and too exhausted to even smile!

Exercise & Nutrition 7) My diet is fine! I eat healthy? I've heard it all before... And to a degree, I believe you do. But what I found to be more often than not, is that what you think is healthy, actually isn't (no judgement at all from my end). Most of us are in an acidic state, when we should actually be in an alkaline state. So how does this have any thing to do with back pain? Our food is the building blocks that are responsible for repairing, building, supporting, replenishing and nourishing every single cell in our body. When we feed our bodies "crap" or when we eat the wrong things, we create an acidic environment. Most of the time when we are in pain, we are inflamed, literally at the threshold of our pain tolerance. In order to support the body in it's ability to heal itself, it is essential to keep the body in an alkaline state enhancing the healing momentum. Exercise when done incorrectly can cause back pain. This may vary, but generally using incorrect techniques, compromising your posture, unfamiliar with gym / exercise equipment, lifting weights that are too heavy or not heavy enough, twisting and turning without awareness and not breathing correctly on exertion have all shown to result in back pain. In conjunction with a poor diet, excessive alcohol consumption and a bad attitude, plus all of the above, back pain can often be the result. BUT there is a solution and we can help! If you'd like to take action NOW and get back to being an EMPOWERED pain free woman, then call us today 075522-7422 or email admin@mybodybrilliant.com Follow this link to learn more

R U O Y E N I F REDE E R U T N E V AD Just when you think you may need a big budget to get your hands on a well-equipped new Caravan, along comes Tango Caravans with their debut model ‘The Flash’ completely redefining the meaning of Affordable Luxury Caravanning... It takes some serious thought and planning to create a Caravan that appeals to the masses. With the wants and needs of customers constantly changing and new manufacturers popping up all the time, it’s no easy task standing out from the crowd in the Caravan Industry. This hasn’t seemed to have been a problem for Tango Caravans however, although only officially launching earlier this year, their first stock model off the line ‘The Flash’ has quickly cemented the brand as a serious contender in the new van market place. The brand may be new, but that doesn’t mean the owner is too... Sarah Horter is the Managing Director of Tango Caravans and being Grand-Daughter of Industry Veteran Ian Grant (of Ian Grant’s Caravans fame), it’s fair to say Caravans are in Sarahs blood. With a solid 15 years experience in the Caravan Industry at some of Australias best known Caravan companies including a long stint at the family business, Sarah says it’s always been a dream to release her own range of Caravans.

The debut ‘Flash’ model is a fully equipped 18ft 4” 2 berth aluminium clad van with a tare weight of 1840kgs and boasts a 500kg payload bringing it to an ATM of 2340kgs. Jam-Packed full of features including full ensuite, 3.5kg washing machine, dual batteries, dual solar, reverse camera, slide out Weber Q, 185 litre AES fridge, external shower, Ibis Air-Con, heavy duty 6x2” durogal chassis and now boasting standard Dexter Torflex Independent Suspension, the Flash is currently advertised at the cut-throat price of $49,990.

‘My Pa has always taught me to look after people to the best of your ability and sell your product as cheap as you can, and that’s the philosophy I’ve adapted. There’s nothing on the market today with the features the Flash offers at the price we sell it for. I want to see Caravan Parks all around Australia flooded with Tango vans and happy customers’ she explains. It’s a mantra that certainly seems to be working! We look forward to hearing more about Tango as the brand continues to grow.

Sailors with a Disability This is the story of Mudgeeraba Special School Student Jacob Williams who defied all odds to win a Silver Medal at last years Special Olympics World games in Los Angles as a member of the Australian Sailing Team. Jacob was helming a two person Club Flying Junior in the ocean off Belmont pier Huntington Beach (Surf City) against some very stiff competition from other nations. Jacob was born at 24 weeks gestational weighing only 850grams. He was on life support for his first 3 months and remained in intensive care for another 3 months finally going home after 6 months, 1 week and weighing 2.59Kg. During his intensive care Doctors accidental discovered Jacob had a rare (1 in 20mil) congenial Kidney disease (Hyper Prostaglandin E2 Syndrome) and he was then the worlds youngest every surviving premature baby on record with this condition. During the next 2 years he had many more hospital visits and spent most of this time with an oxygen bottle

to help his weak lungs. Jacob did not walk until he was nearly 3 years old was fed via a nasal gastric tube at first and then by a Peg in his abdomen until he was 9 years old. Jacob started Sailing at Gold Coast Sailing Club Varsity Lakes only five years ago and thanks to the wonderful Volunteers learnt to race and has now competed in State, National, and World Games. In previous years Jacob also dislocated his Knee about 5 times (unrelated to sailing) so after the last National Games and only 12 months before the World Games Jacob underwent surgery to have it fixed. He is continually working hard on rehabilitation to make the knee and the rest of him fitter and stronger. This will help him grow his skills and his ability to sail in a more demanding role, that of Solo sailor in a Laser sailboat. Preparing Your Vehicle and Trailer for Your Trip Planning a camping trip is exciting but you don’t want to have it upset due to your vehicle or trailer not performing like you need it to. Take the time to get them ready for the trip though and you can greatly reduce any potential problems. Make sure your car has a full tank of gas to get started. If you are traveling a long distance fill it up again as needed. Try to keep a full tank for when you get to the camping area. Look over the engine to make sure you have enough fluids. Check the oil, transmission fluid, water, and coolant. You also want to check all of the hoses. If you see signs of wear you should replacement. If one breaks on your trip then it could be a huge effort to get one. Check over all of the belts too. The tyre pressure of the vehicle is very important. You will use less fuel when you have the right amount of pressure in them. Use a tyre gauge to measure each of them. The amount to put in will be on the side of the tyres. Check all of the lights and turn signals on the vehicle to make sure that they work well. Since you will be towing a camper trailer you may need to adjust your mirrors a bit. This will make it easier to park and to back up. You need to make sure everything is secure inside of the caravan. This includes drawers and the refrigerator. Windows should also be closed. Check the brakes, wheel bearings, wheel nuts, and all of the lights. Make sure you securely attach the trailer to the vehicle you are towing it with. The tyres on the trailer need to be check as well. You should have a spare tyre for both the vehicle and the trailer in case you need one. Bring along some blocks of wood to help level the trailer too at your camp site. You never know when it could be offset. Plus, you want to have the tires chocked so that they won’t go anywhere when you have the trail at the determined spot. If you are planning on bringing an offroad camper trailer make sure you pack plenty of extra spares including tyres, even more than on a regular trip since you will likely be far from aid and any chance of finding a spare part locally. DAY ON E

Arrive at the Barge, Inskip Point – Rainbow Beach.

https://www.visitfrasercoast.com/destinations/fraser-island

This is definitely one of my favourite parts of the trip, 5:30am arrival at the barge, sun rising and your holiday ahead of you. The excitement, the anticipation and the pure feel ing of your body hitting relax ation while your phone loses service, exactly why we work so hard day after day through out the year. For our spot at Fraser Island we catch the barge and then we have 40 minutes’ drive down the beach, enjoying creek crossings, negotiating wash outs and loving the sea breeze and salt air. “Heaven I have arrived.” We then have approx. 1 hour trip across the island to the Western beach dependant how heavy and loaded we are, the condition of the track and what traffic is coming the other way. On the other side we are met by gorgeous water views and perfectly sunny skies, did I say I am in Heaven? With such an early start this morning we are all hungry and thirsty so we park and prepare an easy meal before our set up begins. The rest of the day involves kids paddling and kayaking in the ocean and the creek, us unloading and setting up house for the next week, getting dinner organised so we can enjoy the first sunset of the holiday.

DAY TWO

Starts quite early, why wouldn’t it when you hit the hay at 7pm the night before. The kids have had breakfast, brushed their teeth, are lathered up with sunscreen and already swimming, it is not even 8am. The day is spent by the creek, swimming, sleeping, reading, eating, did I say swimming, reading, a little more camp set up and organising, lunch, afternoon tea, swimming and some quiet time in the shade before dinner preps’ game of logo with the kids and bed.

DAY THREE

For those of you reading this that have been to Fraser Island, you will know that your days follow suit the same thing different day most days and at no point do people get bored, or look for other things to do. It is just how it rolls. Sure some things happen earlier than some others the day before or vice versa but exactly what happened in day 2 happened in day 3. However today we are planning the tides for tomorrow as we are doing a day trip, which means we have to be gone by 7am tomorrow to give us time over the surf side before returning back. These things seem to require a beer and a wine to discuss and nothing happens quickly. Early dinner, few drinks and off to bed for early start tomorrow.

DAY FOUR

We are up and dressed, breakfast and dishes done, nibbles and water packed in case, for whatever reason we miss the tide and have a long wait. Spending a nice day at Lake McKenzie (view details further in article) swimming and relaxing taking pics and we will have a picnic lunch as time will be short to get back on the track to head back to camp. Lake McKenzie with its turquoise and tea-coloured water is one of the biggest attractions of the Island. The lakes are formed by accumulation of water over a thin, impermeable layer of decaying leaves and other organic material. With clear blue water and perfect white sand beach you really do have to make the time to visit this magical spot. After we have enjoyed hours in the water and a great picnic lunch we grab our towels, thongs and other belongings and head for the car for our trek back. We love this place as a family so much time spent together learning so much, or just talking amongst ourselves during our journeys across the island. We arrive back to camp, without fuss, yes we were keeping a close eye on the time as we were taught at a very young age and our kids have been taught there are two things that does not wait for man and that is “tide and time” and therefor when travelling

around Fraser Island it is very important that you are aware of these things otherwise your holiday can come to a quick end or you can end up spending a day or a night somewhere you did not want to be tired, cold and hungry. We are all happy to have showers, dinner and find our beds. There is definitely something about early nights and camping, I just love my bed a million times more when I am camping.

DAY SI X

Another day trip today, we find ourselves in need of some fres h bread so over to Cathedrals which is only ten minutes down the beach from where the ma in track comes out from the isla nd, is a relatively easy run and giv es the kids a chance to enjoy an ice cream and us to have a cold drink, grab some supplies and head back so we can be bac k by lunch and enjoy an afternoon of swimming, paddling and fish ing. Fish for dinner so the boys are in charge of the cooking (must admit they are most nights camping). Not looking forward to tomorr ow when our holiday comes to an end, but for now making the most of the beautiful sunrises, sun sets and everything in between tha t makes our holiday and fills our memory banks.

Mango Chicken Curry

With Summer approaching, it means an abundance of Mango's. Our family buy trays of these from local farmers who have set up a stall on the side of the road whilst we are travelling or going on a day trip to the local national parks in our area. Not only are they cheaper but mostly you are supporting a local as well getting them fresh packed with nutrients that they provide. Mangoes are high in fiber, vitamin A and according to new research study they believe to help with protecting against colon, breast, leukaemia and prostate cancers. So what do you do with a Mango's beside eating them fresh and in a salad? Why not use them in a Summer Curry. This curry is a sweet, refreshing and light curry that provides a hearty meal for either lunch or dinner. Our kids absolutely LOVE this curry and takes about 30 - 40 mins to cook. 2 Tbsp vegetable oil 1 large onion, chopped (1 1/2 to 2 cups) 1 red capsicum, chopped 2 garlic cloves, minced 2 Tbsp fresh minced ginger 2 Tbsp yellow curry powder 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin 2 mangos, peeled and diced 2 Tbsp cider vinegar or white vinegar 1 400 can coconut milk 4 skinless boneless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces 1/3 cup sultanas (optional) Salt and pepper Coriander to garnish 1 Heat oil in a large sautĂŠ pan over medium heat. Add onions and bell pepper cook, stirring occasionally, until soft, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and ginger and cook for another minute. Add the curry powder and cumin, cook for a few more minutes. The spices will absorb some of the oil, so if anything begins to stick too much to the bottom of the pan, add a little more oil to the pan. 2 Add the vinegar, coconut milk, and one of the two chopped mangoes to the pan. Increase the heat and bring to a boil, then lower the heat to maintain a low simmer for about 15 minutes or until mango breads down and capsicum becomes soft, stirring occasionally. 3 Add chicken pieces and raisins to the pan. Return to a low simmer. Cover the pan and let cook for 8-10 minutes. Chicken should be just cooked through. 4 Add remaining chopped mango to the pan. Let cook at a very low temperature for another minute or two, uncovered. Do not let boil! Adjust seasonings. If a little too sweet, add a little more vinegar. If not sweet enough, you can add a dash of sugar. Add salt and pepper to taste. Serve over rice. Garnish with Coriander.

Prosciutto, Melon and Mint Salad This is a throw together salad but bursts with flavour, great accompaniment to grilled chicken or steak. It's simple, easy and takes about 10 minutes to prepare.

2 Cups/large handfuls Rocket or Mixed Salad Greens 1 Cup Watermelon Diced into cubes 1 Cup Rockmelon balls or diced into cubes 1/2 Small red onion thinly sliced 100gms Prosciutto torn into small portions 1/2 Cup Feta crumbled. Juice of 1 lemon 1/2 Cup of Mint leaves sliced Throw all ingredients into a bowl and slight toss. Squeeze juice of lemon over salad and add sliced Mint.

apricot + oat protein balls 1 cup Oats 1 cup Apricots 1/2 cup Shredded Coconut 1 scoop True Protein Natural Protein 2 tbsp Rice Malt Syrup 1 tsp Water Blend all ingredients and roll into balls with extra shredded coconut.

Key Lime Energy Balls 1 1/2 cups Dates 1/2 cup Almond Meal 1/2 cup Coconut Flakes Juice from 3 Limes Zest one Lemon first and put aside with some extra coconut to coat balls. Place all ingredients in the blender and then roll into balls and cover with extra coconut and zest. Store them in the fridge. Easy & Healthy! Get a Zesty Ball in your gob!

CrossFit: Transitioning to belonging.

Over our last few editions we have been exploring the world of CrossFit from a beginner’s perspective, what is CrossFit? What are the benefits? And how do we get involved? Well I think it’s safe to say I’ve been there and done that, that awkward gut wrenching feeling of walking into the gym or in this case the box and you just feel awkward, you want to turn around and walk straight back out. But guess what happens when you don’t? You move on and you transition into that next zone, feeling like you belong. You start to feel somewhat comfortable, you find yourself kind of enjoying it. These are the steps I believe to CrossFit: 1. HARD PHASE - Awkward, sheer terrifying and downright scary! 2. JUST SHOWING UP - If you can punch out a week you will get to this stage. Where you don’t understand it, you don’t remember the movements, you definitely won’t remember people’s names (faces yes, names no), and yes you are scaling every movement but it’s actually not that bad, you are turning up, you are going through the motions and that is all that matters. 3. GETTING INVOLVED – Wow, you are starting to figure it out and your confidence is building, enough to let the others around you get to know you better too. You have crawled out of the painful, horrible early stages of CrossFit and you are moving on to the fun part.

4. OBSESSED WITH SHOWING UP – Now you are not just showing up to go through the motions - You are there because you want to be there and you don’t want to miss out! You are starting to see changes in your attitude and your clothes are probably starting to fit you better than they ever have. Your feeling stronger and you are starting to find yourself hating missing a session…Never thought I’d say those words out loud! 5. OBSESSED WITH BEING STRONGER AND HEALTHIER - This phase is not about needing to have the best body out there. This phase is all about being lean, being strong and being healthy. When you finish and you see just how hard you have worked for an hour, and not to mention how much you sweated and it hurt, you really want to get home and fuel your body the best you can. This does not come from stopping for take away on the way home or downing a few beers at the end of the day. You find yourself without trying naturally wanting to eat healthier. 6. YOU’RE OFFICIALLY HOOKED & YOU BELONG – That’s right, in our case it took approx. 8 weeks to get to the “I am hooked stage” and to be part of the community. Sure

we had glimpses of it before the 8 week mark, however we go 5 – 6 times a week and it is not only our down time, our time to recharge but is also our time to see what we can improve on from the day and week before. We can see our friends and enjoy that we all have the similar goals in mind. I have always lived a healthy lifestyle and always run every morning. I have spent hours in the pool doing laps and frequenting gyms and don’t get me wrong, all these methods kept me fit, however nothing has improved my strength and consistently eating healthy like CrossFit has. If you want to improve your way of life, your strength or be part of a community of likeminded people then get involved. Put aside the fear for one day, one week and you’ll see that before you know it, you just belong. If you’re based on the Gold Coast Steph at CrossFit Meraki www.crossfitmeraki.com.au is worth the phone call. However all of you that are not, do some research, make the call and just make an appointment, the rest will come. The only thing you shouldn’t do is overthink it because you will talk yourself out of it.

How to Check your Caravan’s Tyre Pressure There are many adventures and surprises to look forward to as you prepare to hit the open road this caravanning season, but a deflated tyre has no room on that list! Let’s brush up on the basics of checking your caravan’s tyre pressure, and ensure that your next holiday is packed with nothing but fun.

Why is the right caravan tyre pressure so important?

Tyre pressure is an important parameter to consider regardless of the type of vehicle you’re driving. After all, your vehicle’s tyres are always in direct contact with the road, whether you’re steering, braking or accelerating. But what makes correct tyre pressure even more critical for caravans is the fact that you’re lugging a fully furnished home on wheels through kilometres of bumpy road. Not only do typical caravans tyres carry much more weight than regular vehicles, they must also be geared to negotiate off-road conditions. Lastly, caravanning may take you further off the grid than you’re used to, which means that you would have to deal with that deflated tyre on your own.

When to check your caravan’s tyre pressure:

Timing matters. When you’ve just towed your caravan for a couple of hours, you’ll find that its tyres are warm, and that its pressures read higher than if you wait for them to cool down. It is therefore important to measure tyre pressures when the tyres are cold, before you take your caravan out for a run.

Determining your caravan’s target tyre pressure values:

Your caravan manufacturer will have listed the desired tyre pressures in your caravan’s handbook or user manual. And if you don’t have access to this, you can always find the pressure values on a placard affixed to the driver’s door sill, or inside the caravan’s fuel filler cap. As a general rule, the following formula can help you estimate the target pressure value: Target tyre pressure in PSI = (MTPLM in kg x Maximum tyre pressure in psi) / (Number of wheels x Maximum tyre load in kg) (MTPLM: Maximum Technically Permitted Laden Mass)

Measuring your caravan’s tyre pressure:

Invest in a high quality measuring gauge in order to get the most accurate tyre pressure readings from your caravan. Begin by parking your caravan on level ground; this ensures that its weight is distributed evenly to all its tyres. Check the pressure in each tyre and increase or lower it to reach the target amount. Fasten the valve caps of your tyres to prevent any air leakage. And while you’re at it, it is also a good practice to measure your spare tyre’s pressure as well.

Testing your caravan’s tyre pressure:

Once you’ve inflated your caravan’s tyres to the target pressure value, take it for a spin. After covering a distance of about 100km, run another tyre pressure check – this time while the tyres are still warm from the drive. In an ideal scenario, you should get a difference of 4psi in the two pressure values. A difference greater than 4psi would mean that your caravan’s tyre pressure was too low when you started, while a difference lower than 4psi indicates that your tyres were over-inflated. Keeping your caravan’s tyres in good shape can not only prevent unnecessary hassle during your holiday, it also goes a long way in keeping you safe, and even saves you a few bucks! Routine tyre pressure checks shouldn’t take more than a few minutes; make them a part of your caravanning itinerary and if you need any specific help on your caravan always chat with your local caravan repair centre or specialist before you attempt anything you’re unsure of.

A Stand up paddle board like the “Baysurf” model is perfect for those wanting to try SUP; they are super stable, paddles really well and is also just as comfortable surfing small waves. Surefire Boards also shape custom surfboards having over 10 boards in their range from summer fun boards, mini mals to more performance reef type boards, they also stock soft boards, kids surfboards & skateboards including the very popular self propelled street surfer skateboards that simulate surfing on the streets. Mick Slattery, head designer and shaper at Surefire Boards has designed every board in the Stand up paddle range to be able to catch waves and turn with ease. “I feel everybody is a surfer…even if they don’t

know it yet, so I have designed each SUP to be able to surf waves. There are so many small waves that can be caught on a SUP so it makes sense to have every board in the range able to surf” Mick is a world class designer/shaper who is not bound by conventional boundaries. He is always exploring new materials and reinventing board designs. Mick lives and breathes surf & stand up paddle He is dedicated, diligent, fun to work with, reliable and creative. He has worked on many facets of the surf industry, from event managing charity events and setting up Stand up paddle clubs, to being a personal tour guide to world class surfers visiting our shores right here in Australia. Surefire boards have been designed to suit a range of needs from entry level flat water, beginners surf right through to advanced surfing and racing with 12’6 & 14ft boards. Mick & the team are constantly testing new designs and principles that will give you the best performance from your board. Mick Slattery, & the rest of the crew can be seen testing new designs of both surf and race boards up and down the east coast. If you would like to try one, just ask, the team are happy to share the love.

My truth on Sales So sales are a big part of your business right, they must be if you are reading this quick, fun blog and what business really does not rely on sales? Sales, there is so much of what you should be doing, new methods, new developments and I back a lot of them all the way and the fact of the matter without “sales” who can stay in business. I think that if someone perfected the formula they would be an overnight millionaire and would make many business owners very happy. But like dieting I don’t think there is a magic pill. There is no magic wand, pill or clear cut strategy that will bring sales. The way I see it is this. Like weight loss you have to apply yourself, work hard, have clear goals and have a plan. Without any of these you will yo-yo. You will have good days, bad days and plain whatever days. This then will slowly affect your team, like if you were trying to lose weight this up and down will slowly derail you and your efforts. It is important every day to keep your sales team on track, keep them accountable. Know what clients are on their radar for closing; know what your team are offering that client so you can offer some input, some feedback to ensure that they can get this client over the line. As I am sure it is not the first conversation they have had with them and therefor this time does equate to money, but more importantly it equates to your sales team demeanour, it is an opportunity that you want to take with both hands to have the chance to showcase your product to this new client. So of course you want to have a positive outcome for all these reasons. It is also important to always have new content in the mix, we all know sales are a numbers game and the sooner you implement this, the better for your bottom line. The more meetings you can do in a day, a week and a month, the more follow up phone calls you can

make the more intro phone calls or emails you can do to grow your network, all reflects on the final outcome of your sales reached per month. I have seen many “sales people” come and go throughout the years in business and it comes down to hard yards, personality and approach. You need to get to know your clients, you need to know your product, your market and you need to ensure you deliver the “why” they should choose you. You leave any of those out and you won’t close that sale. Don’t snag a sale, no one wants to snag a sale by accident, earn it, work for it and deliver it. Have amazing after sales service in place and be totally authentic in your approach and your pitch and you will earn your prospective clients trust. I have never put much pressure on our team, we promote our product, and we are always engaging ways to be better than our competitors and always ensuring we have our followers. With this approach the clients show interest and once they do this it means you’re doing all the right things to deliver a pitch and leave with them to make a decision on their own. This phone call to close then becomes a lot easier as you have given the prospective client the space to make the right decision for their Brand, Business or Company. Don’t be that pushy sales person, deliver your product, Company and yourself authentically and you will have a client for life. Remember people still love doing business with people. Always Love what you do, Hayles www.liquidlifeandleisure.com.au

Protect the skin you’re in Use broad spectrum sunscreen with SPF 15+ to protect any exposed skin Seek shade, especially during midday hours Wear a hat, sunglasses and other clothes to cover up Sunscreen works best when used with shade or clothes, and it must be re-applied every two hours and after swimming, sweating and drying off.

Everyone’s enjoyed playing this at some stage right? Everyone loves it, well maybe not the neighbour’s after they’ve heard “Fish out of water” for the hundredth time LOL! This game is best with more three or more players. One person is ‘it’ and they have to keep their eyes closed while they try to ‘catch’ the opposing players. The ‘it’ person can call “Marco” and all the other players need to respond with “Polo” if they are in the water or “Fish out of water” if they’re on the edge of the pool, once the ‘it’ player has tagged someone that player becomes ‘it’ and the game continues on, and on, and on!

again if they touch the ball (my kids try to blow the ball across or carefully try to splash the ball along).

Ping Pong Games

Ping Pong balls make a really FUN and cheap addition to any pool. You can draw numbers on them and have two teams try to collect the highest ‘points’ by adding the totals of the balls.

What’s the time Mr Shark?

This game is played in the same manner of ‘What’s the time Mr Wolf”. A single ‘it’ player starts at one end and the other players at the opposite end. They shout “What’s the time Relay Races Mr Shark?”, the ‘it’ player says a time like “4 This is a great game for pool parties and works o’clock”, then each player takes 4 strokes pretty much the same as any other relay. You towards the ‘it’ player, this continues until they might like to make it fun by getting the players shout “dinner time” when the ‘it’ player turns and to swim to each end with a Ping Pong ball on tries to tag as many players before they reach a spoon (like an egg and spoon race). Or have the safety of their starting edge. The tagged each player try to get a ball from one side to the players then join the ‘it’ player until everyone is other without touching the ball, they have to start tagged.
