From the Editor... Welcome to July
love being in the office receiving emails of adventures and hearing and seeing about everyone else’s’ journey and travels. It inspires us daily.
Is the year more than half gone or have we got just under half a year left? Is this the case of glass half full or glass half empty?
We hope our publication inspires you and gives you that urge to get out and experience this great country in whatever shape or form that is for you.
I like to think that we have so much in front of us, we have done so much with the first part of the year, imagine what can be achieved, learnt and experienced in the second half of 2017.
Huge shout out like every month to each and every one of you, we are so appreciative of your time, your business and your stories they make our magazine what it is and one word for that comes to mind and that is “awesome” and a publication that our audience and community has a huge part of its success.
For us this is an exciting time, we have the “happy hour “wine van now at events and in venues for the experience of Sirromet Wine Tastings, so keep a look out and come join us for one of these near you. We have been to the gorgeous Couran Cove Island Resort, Broadwater Tourist Park, and many more planned and will bring these to you in our app and on our websites, so stay tuned. We are off to Sydney from the Gold Coast late June, to early July to get some great content, visit amazing sites, and enjoy some awesome experiences. We are then in full preparation for our Uluru and central Qld trip and can’t wait to bring you further details and updates on the preparation process of this trip. We also have a great event planned for mid-next year which we will bring you more updates on this, but in short will be one of the biggest and greatest “Happy Hour” experiences ever and will release the location soon so you can book your seat. This publication is so very special to us as it allows us to talk day in day out to other business owners embarking in this great industry and life, it gives us the chance to travel and show a life to our kids of balance and lifestyle. We love being on the road chatting to our readers and hearing their stories, we
So keep up your good work with helping us share this magazine and we assure you we will keep up our end of the bargain and keep bringing you great articles, great providers and the inspo, to live a life of experience, adventure that is full of good memories and great times, because life is too short to do it any other way.

Travel with Kids Travelling with kids at any age is exceptionally beneficial to them. It will increase their social skills, give them a love and appreciation of nature and most importantly
you’ll grow as a family. Yes, being with your kids 24/7
can have its downside at times, but you will learn how to make this work and allocate time for yourself. Kids also need time to themselves so scheduling a down day is hugely important as they just cannot go go go! Travel with your children comes with its own set of
opportunities and challenges. It’s a fantastic lifestyle for them and they thrive on the changing environments and meeting
new people, especially other kids. From our time on the road we have seen some awesome changes in our little ones and we have hit many milestones. Our daughter began walking, we’ve nailed toilet training and began riding without training wheels. They’ve become little fish in the water and we find that it’s the best way to expel their energy while having an absolute blast!
Travelling has boosted their confidence, learning and social interaction, nothing beats watching their outgoing little personalities. 08

Lastly, you won’t regret travelling with kids, the quality time you

Which is what this trip is about.
They absolutely love being outside in nature! Remember, pack lightly

Gap Year! FA M I LY
Whaoft Kind Girls are we Raising?
As I watched my 10 year old daughter bound up Frenchman’s Peak, a near vertical rock face in regional Western Australia, this past Sunday, it struck me that Yasmin and I aren’t raising stereotypical young ladies. When this trip is over, we’ll be on our way to raising young women who are equipped to make a difference.
over the years. These include swimming, ballet, gym, crossfit, platform and springboard diving, music and karate. While all of these were great to experience and some have even stuck and are still participated in, nothing can compare to what they’ve had the chance to experience in this past 18 months.
Over the past year we’ve clambered up some amazing peaks, walked, jogged and ran many world class trails/walkways, mountain biked numerous marque cycling locations and swam, surfed, SUP’ed and snorkeled some waters considered to be the best in the world. During these adventures one of the most important lessons I believe we’ve taught our daughters is that breaking from the norm is the norm.
The ability to test themselves in the physical and mental challenges we’ve encountered since leaving Brisbane should be invaluable in later life; think of the wrong turn on Cradle Mountain that blew our total walk time out to nearly 12 hours, the 40+ degree heat we faced walking in Lawn Hill, Kakadu, Listerfield and Karajini National Parks, the mental anguish of plucking up the courage to make new friends in each new caravan park and campground, only to have to say goodbye sometimes only hours later!
Prior to leaving on our family gap year, we made sure that Layla and Libby were getting a well rounded extracurricular experience, providing them with the opportunity to participate in tonnes of activities
All these instances are being moulded into the building blocks of strong girls, strong women, strong
human beings and Yas and I are very proud to have provided that for them both. As I watched my eldest bound down the sheer rock face of Frenchman’s Peak at a speed that would turn most people green with shock, I realised that while this adventure is coming to an end, with only a few months of the year and a half to go, the best is yet to come and we’ll be experiencing it for a lifetime to come. The confidence and experience these two girls are bringing home with them will see them being able to climb any peak, physical or metaphoric, overcome any adversary and live their lives to the absolute fullest. I’m proud as a parent for having the courage to break from the norm and show my kids that it’s not just OK to do so, that they should strive for it themselves, because that’s where the magic happens. THE RIGHT TIME IS NOW
For whatever reason, over the years there has been a misconception that the recreational lifestyle is either for the rich and famous or for the grey nomads. Have you ever considered the benefits of the outdoors, being a boat, a bike, a caravan or simply driving and exploring this continent of ours now?
Why wait till the body gets tired? Why wait till the kids have grown up and deprive them of the opportunity? Give consideration to the old saying “the right time is now. Australia wide we are entering the caravan and camping shows season. This not only allows to dream, it allows to see, feel and then purchase at a special show price that normally does not get repeated for the rest of the year.
The options are generally...
BUY
Get into it, take the plunge and give the couch at home a break. What you will get to see and do will never be on the TV screen and it will be with you forever.
UPGRADE
Most of the sellers will also take your old gear as trade in, they are short of stock, which allows you to jump into the new gear for much less outlay and without the fuss of trying to sell anything yourself.
STAY STILL Stay with what you already have but have your financial position checked.
Westcorp Capital are fully equipped to go through your financial position with you and to pin point where improvements may be made, be it a refinance of your gear or a complete package which may even include your mortgage. There is hardly a case that cannot be improved. If you are in the market for the life changing plunge, contact Westcorp Capital before you make the final
commitment as they have put together show special packages that will be hard if not impossible to beat. We all hear on the news that the interest rates are at their lowest and in fact, the cycle of increase in interest rates has started. Now will be a good time to lock away some of your commitments with a fixed lower rate and isolate yourself from the movements of the money market.
“
“ Give consideration to the old saying “the right time is now

Caravan & Camping Hire AUS The idea behind this major Australian Peer 2 Peer Economy Sharing Caravan/RV/Camper Hire service is simply genius!
$$$ by hiring out your RV instead of it being parked up. It could pay for your next adventure or pay for your next RV upgrade!
As well as being able to hire a Caravan/ RV/Camper from them, Caravan and Camping Hire AUS enables people that are not using their RVs to rent it out to others and get some great income from a vehicle that might just be gathering dust otherwise! Many of our registered owners are earning upward of $20,000 net each year with very little risk and no hassles at all. Maybe you’re not ready to buy one yet or you might just be looking to see which style of van suits you. This is a great ‘try before you buy’ idea! The perfect way to see if it’s the type of RV that you might like to travel the country in.
There are approx. 250 x Hire vehicles to choose from already on their books if you are looking to hire AND they are always looking for owners with caravans, camper trailers, camper vans or motor homes to hire out to meet the huge demand (Think about that extra cash!!)
So, one side of the business is…. You Hire – You can hire a privately owned caravan, camper, camper van or motor home in any Aussie state – A really good idea if you are not sure about what to go traveling in! A bit like a ‘try before you buy’ idea. That’s what we did before we decided on what to travel in – we hired a pop top camper and took it away for a week to see if it was something that would suit our family and our travel needs! Next, the other side of their business. Which we also love… (maybe even a little bit more!!). You Hire out your own RV! – If you are not traveling at the moment or if you have finished traveling for a while, why not make some big
How does it all work? Well, for all the details and to check out their FAQ, you’ll need to head over to their website. https://caravanandcampinghire.com. au/caravan-hire/ They take every precaution they can to ensure that the RV’s that you hire are in great condition AND of course they do numerous ID and background checks to ensure the credibility of the hirer and their towing vehicles. REVIEWS There are lots of rave reviews on their website. Here are two that we liked…. One from a client hiring a caravan: Quote from Lisa H – Eltham VIC: “We will definitely hire it again!! The process was seamless and the owners were very helpful in going through the caravan set up and towing requirements. You and your wonderful Caravan Owners provide people like us the opportunity to experience a caravan holiday without the commitment of having to buy/own a Caravan.”
The other from someone hiring out their van…… “Thanks to Caravan and Camping Hire for my holiday over the Christmas/New Year period… and the best part about it… it was free!! Our first hire out after becoming a Hire Partner with Caravan and Camping Hire, fully paid for our own caravanning holiday for two weeks at Pambula Beach/NSW. What’s better than a holiday…a FREE holiday!! Thanks Wes for having the insight and vision to get this up and running. Cheers!” – Jacci and Don – Owner of the 2008 Jayco Expanda Outback 16.49 VIC/Horsham Caravan and Camping Hire is a WIN WIN situation for all that join up. One of their main business objectives is to help Australian caravan, camper trailer, camper van and motor home owners earn extra money for their families by hiring out their RVs when they are otherwise just sitting around collecting dust, wasting space and not being used at all (which is around 80% to 90% of privately owned RVs across Australia!) 5 THINGS TO REMEMBER WHEN RE-WIRING YOUR OLD YACHT. It’s hard work when it comes to boats, bigger boats especially. When you’re working on your rig in getting it ready for the water, making sure its airtight, paint job is nice, engine is ready and raring. Many people forget about all the going on inside that you don’t always see. The wiring of your boat is a troublesome mistress. Here’s 5 things we think you need to keep in mind the next time you go head-to-head with thinking about rewiring your old yacht: 1. Good Grounding Without the benefit of a steel water pipe or copper stake to connect your grounding wire to, you’re left to work something out when it comes to grounding your boats electrical system. When looking for a good grounding source never use your yachts mast, engine or other metal attachment as part of your return circuit. Opt for the smarter option of making sure it’s connected to seawater ground and at one point only. This not only prevents electrolysis but enhances the operation of your on board radios. 2. Overloading Circuits With older boats comes older technology, so when you’re planning

on rewiring make sure you plan to avoid overloading any circuits your playing with. In the instance of an overload your wires can experience a current hundreds of times more than it can handle, resulting in the wires insulation melting and in serious cases causing a fire. Plan ahead and use the right equipment by using the correct size circuit protector for your Right sized fuse for the right gear. 3. Separating of circuits There’s many operational systems on your yacht, and many more wires to go along with them. To make further rewiring and inspections easy, after planning to avoid overloading any wires, set a plan in place to seperate different circuits for different needs. An example of this would be setting up a circuit to solely run the lights, and then move on to designating a circuit for whatever else you see fit. Plan how you want to seperate your circuits to make life easier for finding faults later down the track. 4. Updating wiring As your yacht grows old so too do the wires with which grow old within it. When doing any routine checks or you have a suspicion of faulty wires, make sure to remove, dispose of, and then update any old wires that
appear brittle, frayed or corroded. Make sure when you do upgrade your wiring that you opt for high quality marine grade, tinned wires to ensure your Yacht’s electrical system is running smoothly. 5. Assessing your charging system Where there’s wires there’s electricity, and where there’s electricity there’s got to be a battery. Not just any old battery can put up with the demands a large vessel like a Yacht asks for. The battery has to be able to withstand not just the beating it’ll get from the waves, but have effective deep cycling for when your anchored for long periods of times be capable of deep discharges and depending on your requirements, have greater storage capacity. Chose the right equipment for your yacht by researching the appropriate batteries and charging systems for your yacht. So they’re our 5 things to remember when retiring your old Yacht. Remember to say safe while your working with any form of electricity and to contact your nearest Marine services store for help, advice or equipment.

Our story begun when Terry Morris, Queensland entrepreneur and businessman, was in Victoria attending a dinner party with friends. Terry mentioned that he had tried a great wine from Queensland’s Granite Belt to which his Victorian friends laughed and said “There’s no such thing as a great wine from Queensland.” This was the spark that Terry needed to create his vision for Sirromet. Terry chose land in the Granite Belt Region renowned for its unique combination of rich soil, high altitude and cool climate, providing the perfect location for growing grapes and in 2000 we opened our doors to the public. Utilising traditional methods and new technology, Sirromet produce exquisite quality wines recognised on the world stage. We are proud to have collected over 800 prestigious national and international wine awards to date.

Manage your business remotely
PART 1 Tips and Tools to manage your business remotely and achieve your business goals… As a Small business owner, you spend your days servicing clients/ customers, estimating, opening and closing new deals or opportunities. You’re too busy to worry about the day-to-day tasks of which you’ve assigned to your staff and in the back of your head you’re hoping that they are 100% clear on what they need to do, how to do it, and by when. This applies for whether your staff are in the same office as you, or whether you are working remotely. Not so long ago, telecommuting, or in other words remote work, may have seemed out of reach across some industries. Today, not so much. In fact, it has become a workplace phenomenon. And it definitely seems to be the future of modern workforce. Some impressive statistics: In a recent survey undertaken at the Global Leadership Summit in London, 34% of business leaders said that more than 50% of their company’s full-time workforce would be working remotely by 2020. An entire 25% said more
than three-quarters would not work in a traditional office by 2020. Flexibility and working conditions is the new currency when it comes to employing staff. In this article, we’re going to show you some low cost (and sometimes free) ways to will help you manage your staff (and your business) remotely, eliminate fires, and give you back your evenings! 1) SYSTEMISE Create systems as much as possible. Day-to-Day common routines/outlines for staff, project systems and procedures, email and telephone scripts, invoicing and debt management procedures, delivery and follow up procedures… list down the day-to-day tasks which your staff need to perform and try & standardise these so anyone, at any time, can follow them and achieve the right outcome. This will also help On-boarding of new staff. Your systems can be written online in a “wiki” knowledgebase, a chatbot, a shared folder of text documents or just the paper-based “folders on the shelf” approach. Whatever works for you and for your staff.
2) COMMUNICATE clearly… and don’t assume. All to often we assume the other person is going to do what we have asked them to do by taking initiative or “just knowing what to do”. If you’re not in the same room as that person to have a conversation with and you’re not speaking to them over the phone, don’t assume they are going to complete every step of your requested task - it’s always safer to be 100% clear what the deliverables are to be and your expectations. If you are on the phone to them, ask them to read back to you what you have just discussed and what they will deliver. That way - you know - that they know - what they’re doing. Clear communication from both sides will ensure trust & allow for autonomous work whilst reducing stress. Communication tools such as Skype, FaceTime, Facebook Messenger and Google Hangouts, allow you to have face-to-face video-calls, so you can meet with your staff and clients wherever you are.

“Antho-what?” Throughout the course of my blog and in many of my recipes I will feature beautiful colourful foods containing antioxidants that are essential to your overall health. Why? - their pretty? Yes.. but what makes them pretty? Essentially it’s the antioxidant compounds that contribute to the vibrancy you see in colourful fruit and veg, and the same effects can reflect in your body and skin health when you eat these colourful foods. Today I want to introduce you to my favourite compound that is a part of the flavonoid family of polyphenol phytochemical’s - Anthocyanin. Some of you may already be familiar with the term flavonoids – basically they are a family of super powerful antioxidants – think along the lines of green tea, cocoa and red wine. Anthocyanin’s (try saying it 5 times!) however deserve a bit of podium time in recognition for their protective properties. Studies have even shown they can yield
more than twice the antioxidant power of vitamin C - a common ingredient seen in skincare products for brightening and clarifying capacity.

Anthocyanin’s also have the capacity help out the human immune system and protect against most types of infections. This happens through inflammation modulation, reducing platelet aggregation and by and assisting your cells to neutralise naturally occurring toxic free radicals. This therefore therefore reduces oxidative tissue damage and decreases the demand for energetic and metabolic processes that normally contribute to premature ageing.
And my favourite benefit - anthocyanin’s are so easily recognised! Just looking at your plate is enough to tell if your food contains these helpful substances – they provide the bright red-orange to blue-violet colour of many fruits and vegetables which look absolutely beautiful and make my recipes look amaze. The best sources are most berries including blueberry, cranberry, tart and sweet cherry, bilberry, red raspberry, black raspberry, blackberry, black currant, red currant, mulberry, elderberry, chokeberry and acai berry; as well as red and purple grapes, eggplant skins, red cabbage, blood orange, red and purple olives.

If what the weather people tell us is true, we are experiencing some changes in weather patterns Australia wide. While some areas have floods, others may be having fires, some have cyclones and some are just perfect this time of the year. Any plan we ever make is the basis for the changes we will make to it. So if you are currently travelling or planning to travel, please check the weather patterns applicable to the area

in which you are or going to. But remember, changing or adjusting your plans does not mean forgoing the experience or the enjoyment from the experience, it’s just the timing of it all which may allow you to do more, see more and enjoy more, so stress should be kept to the minimum. Equally important is the cover you have for your gear and possessions. Is your policy covering for floods? Is your policy covering for fire?

HEX PEGS “
After years of struggling with hammering in and pulling out normal pegs and watching others do the same, I couldn’t help but think that there has to be a better way.
This led to the idea of a power tool doing the work instead of someone using a hammer or peg remover. P: 0403 304 884 E: damian@hexpegs.com.au

About me
What are your personal strengths? I am very good at sharing my things, I like to give everything away. I am really fast at sprinting too. I like making people feel good about themselves and mummy always says that I have good Emotional Intelligence. Something we don’t know about you? I am a really good artist.
Day in your life – Tell us: Normally I wake up and get dressed, I eat breakfast, brush my teeth and hair, then I do school. Once I have done school, I go out and find friends to play with. If we are good and it was early enough, sometimes we watch a movie as a family before bed. We go out and explore, climb mountains, go bush
walking. I really like getting dirty and jumping in puddles. We go to the beach, we do a lot of different things. There’s not really any day that’s the same. Favourite inspirational Quote: Be you, the world will adjust!

So a little bit about The Crafty Goose‌ Image Courtesy of Crafty Goose
Jac and I are a husband and wife team, who spent the better part of 2016 renovating a 1970’s Viscount Ambassador Alumvan into a mobile craft beer and espresso bar. The idea stems from our love of Australian craft beer and our appreciation of speciality roasted coffee, all housed in a quality renovated, unique setting. The Sunshine Coast has become a mecca for great coffee and micro-breweries and we like nothing better than showcasing what our local community has to offer. We were married on North Stradbroke Island in March 2016 and would have loved nothing more than to be able to hire a mobile bar, like The Crafty Goose, to serve our beverages from tap. A vintage caravan bar would have been the perfect element to tie together our outdoor garden marquee/beach setting.
So we are aiming for Straddle to be a big focus for us into the future. The Crafty Goose is able to serve 3 beverages on tap at anyone time and also houses a 2 group Carimali Italian coffee machine. We differ from other suppliers, as we are able to serve beer/wine on tap, as well as bottle beverages if required and we can also finish up our service for your event with barista made coffee. And you will not meet a more laid back, professional, friendly couple to keep your guests well hydrated. All of our staff are RSA and Barista trained. We love the great outdoors, 4w driving, fishing and adventuring and are more than happy to travel the country with the van. We have a ARB roof top tent on our Nissa Patrol so we are able to service events further afield from the Sunshine Coast and still get a good

nights sleep! Jac has completed all of the renovations on the van, from laying the flooring to building the cabinetry and crafting the beautiful bar top and drop down side bar from recycled timber. Where possible we sourced recycled timber from local yards, to keep the vintage era and theme. As the renovation progressed we found a nautical theme developing inside the van and our wallpaper just tied in our subtropical lifestyle here on the Sunny Coast. The Crafty Goose is available for beverage service hire for corporate functions, weddings, engagement parties, garden and birthday parties, health retreats, festivals and can even be used as a quirky backdrop for photo shoots.
