MULTIPLY PROJECT PERFORMING ARTS IN EDUCATION

What is the Multiply Program? The Multiply Program aims to empower young people and vulnerable adults, allowing them to develop employability skills, increase their confidence, be encouraged to interact positively with others and to re-engage with their academic studies through the performing arts. The students attend sessions in various disciplines, learning about the arts and exploring specific skills along the way, such as costume and set design. The work within the sessions then culminates in a production involving all of the students and upon which the students have a creative influence. We offer our programs to various institutions: alternative provisions, schools and other non-profit organizations across the globe. The program provides opportunities for those who either want to explore a personal passion for the performing arts or who have never been exposed to the arts before; it can also be used as a tool to engage them for your pastoral needs.

Employability Skills Promoted by the Performing Arts Include:      

Confidence and self-esteem Self-awareness Social skills – teamwork, communication Presentational and public speaking skills Concentration Decision-making and adaptability

 Self-discipline, focus and motivation

Tailor-Made for your Needs: The Multiply Program has been developed to be bespoke, and we consult personally with all of our clients in order to tailor the Multiply Program to your school and students’ needs, whether you would like the program to tackle a particular school/world issue, to complement your current curriculum or to stand alone as an extracurricular activity. As part of the program, we also take the students to a performing arts event in their local area and invite guest speakers from various disciplines in the performing arts industry to hold informative seminars and workshops for the students. The program is available in a 6, 12 or 26 week time frame and can be either incorporated into your school’s timetable or used as an after-school club.

Awards and Accreditations: While Creating Higher Heights awards all the students who complete the Multiply Program with a personalized certificate of achievement to prove their attendance, during the program students also have the opportunity to receive fully accredited, graded certificates – which are equivalent to high-school diplomas and are recognized by American education authorities – through our awarding body Trinity College London. Trinity College (USA) An international examination board for arts and English language in music, dance, drama and speech for all levels of experience and ability. All syllabuses are in a structured framework, designed to encourage the progressive development of integrated performance and communication skills. All graded exams and diplomas are fully accredited and recognized internationally.

The Multiply Program for Suspensions or Exclusions: The Multiply Program for Suspensions or Exclusions aims to establish a union between the particular students at risk, the school/institution and the home environment. For the majority of their time, suspended or expelled students are likely to be left unsupervised. As a result of a combination of the student’s own disenchantment with school and the work commitments of their parents/guardians, students can spend their days away from the classroom in an unproductive manner. Students who are just sent home and don’t remain in a supervised environment are in danger of falling further behind in their studies, and they are prevented from improving their behavior. The Multiply Program for Suspensions or Exclusions provides an opportunity for students to complete their suspension period within a supervised environment where they can engage with the performing arts while receiving encouragement to continue with academic study, individual guidance and emotional support. The project is a permissive educational tool that provides the local school districts with another educational, non-academic option for expelled and suspended troubled young people.

Integrated Mentoring: Through our mentoring scheme students – on a one-to-one or small-group basis – are encouraged to discuss their personal or academic issues openly and to follow an agreed action plan in order to achieve their potential.

The mentoring sessions aim to:  Encourage open discussion to identify the root cause of the student’s underachievement or disruptive behavior, for the students, teachers and parents/guardians  Develop strategies to address the student’s problem  Meet with the student’s parents, re-establishing the partnership between the school and the home, to discuss the plan and to emphasize the importance of working together  Make the student understand that they are accountable for their actions and behavior  Encourage the student to realize their full potential and understand how their negative behavior can affect their future

The Creating Higher Heights Manual: Creating Higher Heights has produced a detailed complement manual to the Multiply Program to assist schools and institutions who wish to integrate the key elements of the program into their curriculum. The manual provides your staff with tools and tips on how to implement the program effectively and discusses what to consider when implementing each level of the Multiply Program in your school/institution or community. We can also come in personally and train your staff in how to deliver the Multiply Program.    

Do you need to increase targets? Do you need to decrease challenging, disruptive behavior? Do you need to develop your students’ personal development? Do you need extra pastoral support?
